The 21 Best Restaurants In Marseille - Marseille - The Infatuation

"Having a meal at Douceur Piquante—in a warmly lit dining room with turquoise walls, flowers everywhere, and a mix of vintage formica and dark wooden tables—feels like eating at someone’s house. The chef-owner pairs recipes from Indian Ocean countries and territories like Zanzibar, the Comoros, and Madagascar with Provençal flavors, especially citrus. And she never stops moving: One minute she’s in the open kitchen rolling herbed veal meatballs, frying samosas, or spooning curried broccoli over pilaf, and the next she’s at your side, pouring a lemon-ginger or hibiscus juice while swapping gossip with tables of regulars. The pace here is laid-back, so if you’ve got a packed day, come for lunch on the early side, but try to leave enough time for dessert. In the land of chocolate fondant cakes, the one at Douceur Piquante stands out for its little zip of Espelette pepper." - sophie friedman

Some of the most delicious food in Marseille. Tucked away with a simple but flavorful menu like nothing else you can find around. The owner was a friendly and welcoming. The fish was served with rice, corn, carrots and tomatoes and the chocolate gateau with pomegranate and grapes.

My favorite place in Marseille. Very personal touch with the owner running the place and an open kitchen. Fresh, authenic comoreean cuisine.

Restaurant-Roulette We immediately liked how tucked away, calm and thoughtfully the tables outside were arranged. We arrived at the same time than another group. We asked for a table for three. While deciding where to sit, the matriarch of the house quite out of context, suggested we should go to the kebab at ent end of the street if we are in a rush. Confused I answered that we were not in a rush. My friend wanted white wine but received red. After humbly asking for a an exchange things got worse. Our nemesis table had in Contrast to us a very pleasant chat with the boss and received nuts with their aperitif. Our main consisted of a rather small portion of overcooked bulgur with 1/4 of a fish filet. The flavor was great though. The true surprise came when the table next to us received the same dish but with a whole fish and nicely garnished. The boys on the other table laughed, winked and showed us their portion. This place is like a casino. Either she hates you or she loves you. Recommendations: take any table she gives you. Take any drink she serves. Come in a diverse group of friends. Good luck!

In this place, the very act of eating feels like a confrontation with the void. Each dish, a fragile island in the vast ocean of our fleeting existence. The flavors, they are a reminder of the beautiful, terrible brevity of life. You eat, and for a moment, you are alive. Then, it is gone.

One of the best meals we had in Marseille! We were a big group of 10 and the owner was very accommodating and friendly. The food was lovely, the meat, fish and veggie options were all super delicious, fresh and authentic! Very small menu but everything was incredible, affordable & we had such a lovely experience sitting outside in front of the restaurant :) thank you!

Tiny cafe with 3 or four meals on the menu. No red wine available the night I was there because someone was on holiday. Also no English spoken but we managed. Excellent food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Lovely little restaurant tucked into the Noailles. A little hard to find but their fish is cooked excellently. In addition I really liked their potato fish. Their tartine uses a rugged bread that does a good job providing texture for the eggplant. Really good light food place. I'd go back for sure.
