The 17 Best Pizzas In London - London - The Infatuation

"The Spurstowe Arms—an unofficially Ganni-sponsored Hackney pub—serves excellent pizzas courtesy of Dough Hands. They fall somewhere between classic New York-style and Neapolitan. The toppings—tomato pie with stracciatella, or ‘nduja with hot honey—lean NYC, while the charred pillowy crusts and flop factor can lean slightly Neapolitan. Our favourite is the tomato pie, followed closely by the citrussy, spicy tuna. They also serve the same, great pies from The Old Nun’s Head pub in Nunhead." - rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna

Dough Hands at The Spurstowe Arms - Review - Hackney - London - The Infatuation

"On any given weekend The Spurstowe Arms is filled with more cowboy boots and mullets than the Texas State Fair. And from Tuesdays to Sundays the unofficially Ganni-sponsored, Hackney pub serves excellent pizza courtesy of Dough Hands. They're self-proclaimed ‘London-style’ pizzas that fall somewhere between classic New York-style and Neapolitan. The toppings—tomato pie with stracciatella, or ‘nduja and hot honey—lean NYC, while the charred pillowy crusts and flop factor can lean slightly Neapolitan. Either way the thin pies are excellent. Our favourite is the aforementioned tomato pie, followed closely by the citrussy, spicy tuna. photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat photo credit: Koray Firat Pause Unmute Food Rundown Tomato Pie This is our favourite thing to order here. The bright red marinara is spread evenly across the crisp base, and if you add the stracciatella as an extra (which you should), you’ll get bites of creamy, light cheese and rich tomato sauce that balance out perfectly. photo credit: Koray Firat Spicy Tuna A fiery, zesty number. This Calabrian chilli tuna, lemon, and red onion-topped pizza is a fun mix of flavours. photo credit: Koray Firat Grandma Pie We had high hopes for this wedge of square pizza. But it lacked tomato sauce and we found it a little dry. Stick with the excellent thin-base pizzas." - Rianne Shlebak

Great pizza, the crust and toppings weren perfect, Margerita was the best but as a group we liked them all. Tried all the sauces and they were delicious. Relaxed vibe inside with reasonably priced drinks. Will definitely go back especially as it’s easier to access than a lot of the similar choices in London

Had the jode pizza and it was absolutely outrageous, seriously crispy crust/base and the garlic/fermented hot sauce dips were great. Well worth the 30 min wait. The spurstowe arms is a great little boozer as well, very cosy and pull a great pint of cruzcampo

I think this is my new fave ever pizza in the UK. And it’s definitely top 5 of all time (which includes pizza in NYC such as Lucali’s). We had a standard Marg and also a Jode. Personally I LOVE crispy NY style, so I’m a bit biased here. It was crispy and crunchy without being over done. But what really blew me away was the flavour. Possibly the tastiest pizza I’ve ever had. The combination of nduja and stracciatella with some honey was unreal. Honestly caught be by surprise how good it was. The Marg was super tasty too for such a simple pizza. We got to Spurstowe bang on 4:30 and had about 25 min wait for pizza which is good. By 5pm it was heaving! So be there early. But they clearly have a smooth operation going because the pizzas were flowing. Anyway, this was special. Not overhyped at all.

Absolutely delish crispy pizza, dip is small. Cosy pub setting lit mostly by candlelight in the evenings. Great vibes for a date night or if meeting a group of friends!

Google
Pizza didn’t disappoint. It was crispy and super tasty. Cool vibe and some outdoor space which is great on a sunny day. That being said, they need to come up with a better way of taking food orders as the current one doesn’t work for sure; also 1h wait for a pizza is just too much

Me and my partner tried a pizza here each after hearing rave reviews about it being “the best pizza in London” The pizzas were undoubtably nice, but I’ve had better (and certainly I’ve had worse!). They were freshly made with nice ingredients, but we were both up all night with terrible thirst. I felt they were a little overpriced at over £35 for 2 pizzas and a dip (which was charged extra - surely a free dip with a pizza is manageable?) Would I eat there again? Probably yes, it’s inside a beautiful old pub. But I do feel you can get better value elsewhere

Google
Absolutely delicious pizza! We ordered the margherita and the jode flavors, both very tasty. Service was mid, they didn’t seem very diligent or efficient. Prices were average. The place was extremely loud, but it was a nice atmosphere.
