I'll start by saying the highlight of my Doughbird experience was our waitress. She was so friendly, so patient, and so accommodating. She kept assuring us that all of our orders (despite having additions and removals) were not an issue for her at all, and she completely briefed us on the menu. She even told one of the people at my table that the salad she had ordered often got sent back, and suggested a different salad that would be better.
In terms of food, most of what I tried was pretty good! I would say it's above your average pizza joint. In terms of pizza style, I like that they give the Detroit Style option. If you've ever been to Emmy Squared in Nashville, it's just like that, though Emmy Squared does it a bit better. It's a rectangular pizza with a super thick, fluffy base and very crispy edges. Delightful. If you're more of a purist, the handstretched crust is for you.
Here's what I tried:
-Roasted Tomato & Artichoke Detroit-Style pizza (+ caramelized onions and rotisserie chicken): 8/10 - It was good, I've had better. The base was delicious, and the edges of the piece were nice and crisped as they should be. i felt that there was too much cheese, and there was VERY little tomato sauce. The bites that I did get with the sauce (and the roasted red tomatoes) were delicious and flavorful, though. I regret adding the Rotisserie chicken to it, as it was pretty dry and came in fairly unmanageable chunks. Overall a good meal, and filling as well!
-Broccolini: 10/10 - Well roasted, still had a bite to it. The sauce it came in was slightly lemony, and then it was all topped with parmesan for a little salty, umami addition. My brother and I ate it within seconds.
-Mac 'n' Cheese: 6/10 - super creamy, but pretty flavorless. I love that they used fusilli (underrated pasta shape for mac), but the sauce needed to be more seasoned and taste more of cheese.
My family members also got salads, which they seemed to enjoy. There was a resounding feeling that the wine wasn't great and was a little too warm, but you wouldn't expect your top-notch wine service here anyways.
