London’s New Restaurant Openings

"Yep, you guessed it, Doughnation is all about pizza. The Covent Garden spot has an outdoor setup that we have no doubt will be packed in the summer, and the menu ranges from breakfast pizza (with a fried egg in the middle) to your regular thin-base margherita. " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

The pizza we had was amazing! Great flavour, plenty of cheese which is always scarce when getting a stone baked pizza. We didn’t go into the building but rather just sat outside where we were served by the one and only gentleman there. The service was neither good nor bad but didn’t feel very welcoming. The outside was nice but very noisy as it was a busy day. Next time will go inside the building to see if there is more of a personable service and atmosphere.

In a city with a number of pizza options, this falls short. It tastes like a microwaved pizza, possibly because the equipment is incorrect. It’s steamed through in the middle, floppy and doughy, which will undoubtedly be popular amongst clueless tourists in Covent Garden, especially since they have a nice outside seating area. If you are looking for pizza, doesn’t matter whether you prefer Neapolitan or NY style, you will find better pizza elsewhere.

The pizzas were ok, far from great (definitely not good value for money). The one non alcoholic drink we had (which was meant to have jasmine and lychee puree) was essentially lemonade. It was cold inside (people were sat at the table with their winter jackets on). Service not great either. Will not go back and would not recommend.

Lovely little spot for drinks in the sun. John our server was brilliant, he was very friendly and recommended drinks to us. He made sure our glasses were never empty.

Me and my boyfriend came to this restaurant for lunch. We sat down to be accompanied with filthy dirty cutlery, so I asked the gentleman to get another set for us. He did not apologise for this hygiene issue and when he brought another set over that was also dirty so he had to go back! After then being completely put off eating in here, a lady came to take our order. She seemed very confused at all times and I asked her if they had any chips because I couldn’t see them on the menu. She said they did so I ordered them. They arrived at the table as some sort of seasoned salt and pepper chips without informing us of us, what if we had allergies?! When the pizza that we ordered arrived it tasted like it had come straight out of the microwave. Disappointed is an understatement.

Service was good. Pizza was really bad. The base tasted like ready-made oven pizza. Quite tasteless and cardboard-like. They put some sort of oil around the crust which made it super greasy. For over £15 per pizza, I expected much better.
