Dove Diner

I cant believe it took me 4 yrs to stop in here! I moved to the island a few years ago and have heard great things about Dove diner so i finally decided to treat myself to a nice brunch on a random weekday. They have a huge parking lot. Came in and was immediately greeted by Anthony. I looked through the menu and well i kind of knew what i wanted before i even walked in here! For some reason i was cravin for strawberry pancakes and no matter how tempting everything else looked i didnt wanna steer away from my goal lol. I took in the atmosphere while waitin for my food and can tell the diner is very clean. The furniture is in great condition and you can tell they take care of their restaurant! Before i left with my order, Anthony gave me a free slice of ferrero rocher cheesecake to take home to try! That was such a generous gesture and made my day! Came home and devoured my meal! Havent stopped tellin my partner we gotta come in for a meal some time!

Went for a quick meal before my club meeting. Had a very good greek salad with grilled chicken. Service is good with attentive servers asking if you need anything. Atmosphere is that of a typical NY/NJ diner not unique but clean and inviting. I don't eat dessert (diabetic) but they variety cakes and pies is impressive!

Food is amazing and with decent portions. I would say this is a 10/10 restaurant in terms of food quality and quantity and the prices are spot on. Friendly staff and very helpful. Free parking at the rear of the diner makes things easy as well. I have tried the big boy breakfast in the morning and the cheese burger meal at night and being a 230lb male, I can take a lot of food. At both times I was more than full by the time I finished my plate. Highly recommended.

A true Staten Island classic — Dove Diner (or the Golden Dove, as long-time locals know it) stands out in a sea of forgettable diners. My recent visit was a refreshing return to what a diner should be. The food was the highlight: perfectly prepared, beautifully plated omelets, seasoned steak fries that go beyond the usual salt dump, and smoked salmon thick-cut just right. Fresh bagels, clean utensils, and polished granite tabletops elevated the experience further. The space is large, well-lit, with spotless windows and ample parking — a rare find. Situated on a corner with access to public transit and room for private vehicles, it’s both central and convenient. A few hardly noticeable drawbacks: the floor could use a bit more attention during the day, some ceiling panels need replacing, and those old plastic cups have outlived their usefulness. I got a greasy menu, and outdated plate designs (bright red and yellow accents) detract slightly from the otherwise well-presented dishes. Still, this place persists for a reason. It’s not just nostalgia — it’s quality, care, and consistency. I’ll be back. SI is a treasure trove of good diners. Dove stands out as a clear leader.

my first time, sorry i paid 20$ for a soggy italiano panini with fries, first of all the bread was soggy, the chicken wasn't fully cooked the red peppers were ok, the fries tasted old. sad will never eat or order from there again. Overpriced for bad food

Seems like a pretty cool spot to grab breakfast late at night. Which I always do of course. Had to get the pancakes and super size that. Also they’re open pretty late for the island which is cool

We love this diner! All of the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and portions are amazing. Don’t leave without a dessert! The Godiva cheesecake, or chocolate mousse cake are to die for!!

This was one of the saddest excuses I have ever experienced. I'm pretty sure the only reason why it's in business is because it's located in Staten Island and options are limited. With that being said, this is a famous place an my basing my experience on the lunch I received. I'm sure the breakfast is delightful. Maybe I picked the wrong place to sit and chose the worst thing on the menu. I ordered the Staten Island Cheesesteak. It's a cheesesteak, but would be the kind that a true Philadelphian would expect from Staten Island. Cold hero bread, steak ems grilled, not even chopped up, with square cheese melted on top. Needless to say it was not very good. The fries were pretty delightful. But the pickles, the pickles were out of this world fantastic! Whoever makes these pickles needs an award. I would come back, I would get something that diners cannot mess up with. This way I wouldn't be disappointed.

I ordered two chicken caesar wraps the chicken was good but the lettuce was old and wilted very bad plus no Parmesan cheese added at the cost of $35.00 never will I order from them again.

Went tonight for a quick dinner with some friends. Started off with a bowl of chicken noodle soup. You get a nice big bowl but bigger doesn't mean better. The soup was ok at best and not very flavorful to be honest. I was debating for dinner and went with the French dip. Sorry to say it was a big mistake. The meat was so overcooked and had little taste. Didnt feel there was much to it either. The au jus was ok at best and also missing flavor. The best part was the steak fries which were delicious. The best part of the meal was our waitress. She has us hysterical and did a wonderful job taking care of us. Sorry to say it's been well over 10 years since I've been here and I love maybe 7-8 mins away but it will probably be another 10 before I come back

Disgraceful. They charged $16 for stuffed French Toast that was an absolute mess. It was not as described. I spoke to a manager and he said that's what it is. Happy Mothers Day

Been going to this diner for about 40 years and the burgers and the food still taste the same. They have a tremendous parking lot and a very friendly staff.. They have two rooms so there's plenty of seating and you could possibly even have a small event if you wanted to

Was going to eat with my family at the Dove Diner. Went to the restroom and there was absolutely no soap in the men's room. When I returned to the table the waitress was about to take drink orders. I informed her there was no soap in the restroom and asked how were the male employees washing their hands after using the bathroom. She said she didn't know how they were washing their hands and told a bus boy to fill the soap. I told her we were leaving because the idea of my food being prepared by a staff that couldn't be bothered to wash their hands was disgusting. She offered to have the staff wash their hands as I observed?!?! That would somehow undo all the previous possible food contamination? We left and I don't think I'll be going back.

Stopped into the diner after not being here in years. All of our food was delicious, from the homemade soups to our entrees. Coleslaw & deli pickles can't be beaten. The manager Anthony made the experience even better! Highly recommend!

I have ordered from Dove diner on Uber. The food is always delicious. They have delicious fries!! I never ate there. But I am definitely going to try it. If the food from Uber came delicious can't imagine how good it would be if I ate there

First walking in the man ask for my vaccinations card and I show it . As I'm sitting waiting to order I notice he didn't ask other people coming in. Then the service is very slow . Waiting to paid took forever, I had to get up and ask for it . Can someone explain to me WHY the Diner is under Golden Dove when the the Diner has everything under DOVE DINER!!!!!

Best diner in Saratoga by leaps and bounds! I asked for a grilled cheese sandwich ( white American) with the crust cut off and they happily obliged despite the cook claiming that she doesn't even do it for her 10 yr old child They aim to PLEASE and make you feel special

Haven't been here in years. Glad I stopped in. If you've been here before, and thought the food and service was lousy, you should definitely stop in. The food and service are fabulous. Every plate on every table looked great. Place is clean, and parking is not a problem.

This is not a pleasant diner experience. I could do WITHOUT bleach being mopped right next to use as we are eating our food. So yes, I came in on December 10th with my family and friends to eat. I ordered a simple "Burger Deluxe" and my fiancé ordered a chicken panini. My burger tasted ok, but my fiancé has uncooked chicken on her plate. Like, a slab of chicken that was still pink and squishy. Unsure what the heck they were thinking, but we had to wait 30 minutes for the food to come back. Finally, after waiting for our food, the genius manager had a great idea to start mopping the floor with BLEACH and PINESOL right next to us. Like, literally next to our feet. I had to literally stand up twice, look this busboy in his EYES and tell him please stop being weird and bleaching the floor next to us. It's an EMPTY diner, you literally can't do this anywhere else?? Overall, I'd rate this place 3 stars for "very, very, VERY average", but I'm only giving 1 star because I felt pretty harassed for no reason that we had to have the manager start cleaning the floors with cleaning products next to our feet and have a lingering smell for the next 20 minutes. We all had headaches leaving. I take that as a hint from the owner of the diner that they do not want us back there, and I will happily oblige.

I love the food at this place. It's amazing. But im giving it 3 stars because the customer service I just experienced on the phone was terrible. The man gave me an attitude. I ordered the chicken deluxe sandwich with fries..but it was only 14 dollars and change..a little below the delivery charge..so I added a salad..bring the charge to 17 and change. I didn't get my fries..so I called. The man was irate and said I substitute my fries for a salad. I tried to explain to him that I added a salad and paid for it..he didn't want to listen to me and said..I will just send u the fries because I can't deal with this and hung up. I just made this place my go to order out place..guess I'm going to have to find another place now...

My mom shat on this place because of how bad it is. But she's wrong, the food's delicious, and the 1950s' vibe is best. Would recommend anyone who are old souls, and ones who love big ass food, if you order a "side" of spaghetti, which is not a side at all. Overall, good restaurant with a 50s vibe, little bit of hidden 90s' Easter eggs, if you look at the music machine, you'll see a rap song in there.

When we lived in Staten island 10 years ago the food was fabulous. Loved the pickles and coleslaw.

My food to go was sitting on a table while two employees are talking behind the register while I was waiting patiently, I saw a Cheesecake in the display case I just spent $60 and then asked for a piece of cake to get an attitude from the same Employer. No wonder the place is empty. I will not go back again!

Love this diner! Great food, great service, and great prices. My boyfriend and I absolutely love coming here and are finding ourselves eating here more and more often. I was first introduced to this diner by a local and loved it ever since. I love a great diner!

I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews but the service I received was so poor I feel I should let others know to STEER CLEAR of this place. Wait staff AND management seem so bothered by doing their jobs. We waited forever for our food with barely anyone in the establishment. The wait staff was disrespectful. My wife found a dead fly in her soda. Would score this place a zero if it were an option

Been to a few diners. This one has the look and feel. Not only is the breakfast outstanding but the carrot cake had me wanting to go back to Staten Island! Went to this diner twice while I was there. Highly recommended.

Service was fair. Ordered typical Staten Island diner breakfast. Coffee was burnt and un drinkable. Waiter did brew another pot and was acceptable. Breakfast meats ( bacon, sausage, ham) were low quality and had no flavor. Potatoes also had no flavor. Toast was burnt. Still waiting for refill on my water....

**Not Halal** This is the first time I've been to this Diner. I've been to quite a few Diners in Staten Island and this is probably one of the better ones. The atmosphere was welcoming and very family friendly. I really liked the retro look with the neon purple lighting. Like most Diners in the island, they weren't halal. However, they did have an extensive variety of breakfast options for halal eaters from different styles of eggs to wraps. I had the Mediterranean wrap which was fresh and juicy. They could've done better with presentation but, the excellent service made up for it. I'll probably go back for breakfast!!

Breakfast with a side of Fox News. If you like propaganda with your bland breakfast, this is the place for you! Attentive wait staff.

Poor greeting, long wait for food and poor service. Would not recommend,too many other places no need to go to a place where you're going to leave frustrated

Trash! Trash! Trash! Coming in for 10 am on Sunday when the diner is not busy at all, having to wait for someone to take my order for up to 10 minutes. The nastiness of the waitress we have. She seemed so angry that I was even at her table. So angry when my girlfriend order two drinks and when I asked for heavy cream I got a look like seriously. I worked in hospitality for 10 years and I have never had an experience like this before. I will not be back. I'd rather give my business to places that actually want me there.

I have had the opportunity to go on different occasions to this dinner sometimes for breakfast and sometimes for lunch and dinner without a doubt the food is delicious and the Greek room with chicken and the tzatziki sauce is the best I have tasted so far I recommend it 100 %

Late night food in Staten Island? Not much else besides diners...lol Parking: Easy parking lot. Never full. Interior: Very diner like feel with juke boxes on each side table but you have to pay for it and not even sure if it works so no one ever does it lol. Very spacious though and great for big groups. Never seen full. (Not sure if thats bad or good now lol) Food: I am only writing this review bc I freaking enjoyed this dish so much. Rib eye melt: OMG. This was such a surprise. Not gonna lie some food here aren't great bc their is so much variety but this was so good. So its steak cut up, with caramelized onions in between two butter fried bread in melted cheese that I can actually break off and stretch to perfection. The sauce that comes with it to dip in is so good. Prepare to have a messy meal but the best meal to fix your craving. Even if you don't finish it and re-fry it at home it STILL TASTE AWESOME. Overall: That's all i needed to say. Get this melt and you will not be disappointed. Also always substitute the big fries for either sweet potato or waffle. Thanks lol

I advise asking for the free appetizer, bread cracker with a dice tomato mix. They have a small but dependable beer selection and I enjoyed their quesadilla and their fries.

A diner that hasn't been bought up by Mike? Wow. +1 point automatically just because they're an independent establishment. The Dirty Bird is another one of my usual spots for those late-night/early-morning dinners. Food is, of course, standard diner fare, which isn't a bad thing. It's made well, and it's made quickly. My friends and I have a tradition of visiting the Golden Dove after every movie we see to discuss it's finer points over a couple burgers, and maybe some scrambled eggs. I would suggest asking to be seated in the right-hand side of the diner, as it has cleaner, whiter light. The neon and tinted lights in the dining hall on the left give me a headache if I'm there for too long.

My neighborhood diner , I rarely go here but decided to get breakfast here. I was surprised by great service and huge portions. I got the banana pancakes with eggs and bacon and wasn't expecting anything great but it exceeded my expectations.

If i can i dont put any stars i will do it, the food is not good, the food is not good my husband asked for a tilapia and it had an odd smell, apart from the odd smell it also had a smell of shrimp, my husband is allergic to shrimp before we start eating we asked the waitress if the tilapia came with any shrimp essence and she said no but even we asked her to change the dish but she said they have to talk to my manager. When the manager came he was very rude and arrogant saying that it did not come with any shrimp in a way like forcing my husband to eat it. My husband is very quiet and began to eat but could not just eat 3 tablespoons putting ketchup over his food to try toneat it and was unpleasant apart from the manager's treatment made us remove the appetite, also on my plate the corn had a bad smell that made me stop eating. The waitress was nice. But never coming here again!

If I could I would give it no stars! Stopped in this morning with some friends and the old man at the counter was extremely rude! We walked out! All because we asked for a table instead of a booth! Told me carpet was new sit at booth or go! Went to Richmond Diner across from YMCA. Much better and a pleasant atmosphere!

OMG SO many things! I went there for lunch with my daughter and 2 grandchildren, ages 3 1/2 yrs. and 1 yr. First - no high chair for my grandson. They only had 2 and they were both in use. I had a grilled chicken club, my daughter had a chicken wrap. The kids had chicken fingers and a grilled cheese. (food was average to bland) We each bought 2 slices of cake to bring home. The bill was $105.00!!!!!! For lunch! I almost passed out! My daughter was taking me out to lunch, but she couldn't pay for it all! Wth?! AND the cakes were horrible! Especially the turpentine flavored whipped cream. I don't want to even give this place 1 star!

I am only giving one star because I have to, it deserves ZERO. I took my kids there today 12/24/18 and it was busy but not crazy busy. Our waitress was the worst I have ever had. I asked for water 3 time and our food came out before our water. I asked for an extra plate which of cause she forgot to bring and when I asked again she got pissy. The food was ok the service sucked. Our horrendous waitress didn't come one once to see if we need anything the 40 mins we were there. I asked for the check 10 mins later, you guessed it no check. I went up to the register and told the manager the servers sucked and he said well it Christmas. I said because it's Christmas your service is allow to suck. He then back pedaled and so no it just busy I told him your not that busy to justify the non existent service. The service was so bad I'd never go there again and I left ABSOLUTELY NO TIP.

Sad to leave a bad review but stay clear!! First off, the wait staff looked annoyed we were there and didn't want to be bothered. The attitudes were ridiculous. Gave us dirty plates for the appetizer thing they brought out. Ew. I got a Greek salad with steak. Lettuce was browning. Steak wasn't cooked as i asked. I got a really bad stomach ache and felt sick to my stomach after. My aunts avocado in her avocado salad was also brown and not edible! There's so many better diners and options on Staten Island it's not worth it.

The decor is really dated..like 1980's Staten Island/Bensonhurst type furniture that's pretty worn out. Think "The Golden Girls" style. Aside from the decor, the service was excellent. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The food was brought out in a timely fashion. I had a Greek Salad with grilled shrimp. It was very good. My only issue is that the tomatoes weren't ripe. They were that bland, washed out color of tomatoes that have no taste. Everything else was well seasoned and fresh. As another reviewer mentioned, the pickles are fantastic!! Better than any diner I've dined at in years. My companion had a bacon, egg and cheese wrap which looked delicious and she thorough enjoyed. I would definitely return here.

Golden Dove, welcome to your tape. Had a terrible experience at this diner. Expected to have a nice time since many people I know have told me good things about it. However, these claims were proven false as soon as I sat down in this diner! The waitress walked over to us and sighed as if she was wanted to die!! Rude!! She then looked at us rudely expecting us to say something and nastily said "drinks..?". She then continued to act extremely rude and even heard her say, and I quote, "I fucking hate this guy" about another customer.. Great staff!

No adherence to mask mandates, plus much attitude regarding that lack of compliance from the owners. Never again will myself, friends & family eat there.

Closes at around 11 but guy let us be the last order. Very nice server. Had full bar. Steak quesadilla is bomb.

The Dirty Bird is a damn classic! Set your expectations at diner level and this place will not disappoint. Some of these comments are a bit tough on the bird and I think it's a testament to unrealistic expectations. The food is good diner food, nothing more, nothing less. They make killer burgers and have yummy steak fries that go great with melted mozzarella if you wanna be extra fat (you want this also). Their breakfast is also great and can fill you up past lunch time! Staff is a bit outdated but that's okay; I find it remarkable how long this one Mexican guy has been there. I mean he's literally been working at the Dove for over 15 years and should probably own the place by now. You all know which one I mean, the little guy with one half closed eyeball. In any case this place is great for late night eats after drinking or partying all night.

Aka the Dirty Bird. I've been going here for some time now and never have a complaint. The breakfast is always good, everyone smiles, says hello and are friendly. If you are in the mood for some eggs pass by the dove:)

This place does not get the recognition it deserves! The improvements they have made are amazing. I didn't always feel that way but the food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. The place is immaculate and the staff is super accommodating. We order a lot of delivery bc they pack it perfectly and supply u with all the condiments/utensils needed. We eat out a lot bc of our schedules and the Dove is definitely out go to spot for diner food! Ty!!!! The "love" shows in the quality and presentation of the food!!!

Ah, the Golden Dove...or the "Dirty Bird" as people affectionately call it. I usually stop here when I have a night at my job in which I'm hungry and get out pretty damn late. The Golden Dove is open 24 hours, and serves up your typical diner fare. I first went here two years ago, and the food just wasn't that great, but as I've gone here recently I can tell that they have changed for the better - but they aren't quite there yet. If you haven't read any of my diner reviews, I usually judge it on 3 items. Quesadillas, Burgers, and French Toast. I did not find quesadillas on the menu, and I've been looking hard! I had a burger that was covered in BBQ sauce, and it was pretty rubbery and plain. Meh. I did have the french toast, and it was really good. Score 1 point! The waitress did momentarily forget my eggs, until we reminded her - then she remembered. Hmm. Maybe it is late. Actually, now that I think about it, there is usually some little "I forgot" moment here with the wait-staff, as I said...maybe it is because I go there late. I don't know how the Golden Dove is during the daytime hours though, as I have only been here on late nights. If you are passing through and you don't feel like searching for a place to eat, then you can stop at the Golden Dove. If you are just looking for a diner to eat, and don't mind traveling up Richmond Avenue a bit more, then stop at Unicorn or Dakota, as the Golden Dove, in my opinion is just a few notches short of being a consistent diner.

I don't know why everybody is hating on the Dirty Bird. Anything that is 24 hours in Staten Island automatically gets 3 stars. I'll throw on an extra star for the delicious cheesecake I had. It was probably sitting there for a while and I'm sure there's more prestigious cheesecake in New York City, but damn was it a chunk of creamy goodness. I generally get breakfast when I go to the Golden Dove, no matter what time of day it is. The service is very "highschool" with waitresses chewing gum and socializing more than working. The busboys are efficient and the older employees are pretty good. My order has never been wrong and the food is always cooked to order. And I'm one of those annoying picky eaters that wants everything done a certain way. I would recommend the veggie burger to everybody, even the beefeaters.

The food is ok but they screw up the orders the place isn't that clean, the bathrooms are underprepared and dirty, my father ordered orange juice and gave him pineapple juice and the place is understaffed, terrible in my opinion, the staff seem to be a bit clueless about there menu, on their menu it says gluten-free pasta and they didn't have it, if you're eating here and have an allergy to certain foods be careful they might make it a different way, and lastly the place was a bit overpriced for a diner

Moved out of SI about 20 years ago two states away. Can't ever find a diner like this where we are now. Stopped in today for our cheeseburger deluxe and order of fried calamari. Best fried calamari over any pizzeria in my experience. Huge burger with perfect bun. Same I remember from a year ago when I was here. Friendly service and more than enough delicious food. Never able to finish the whole thing. Worth the trip when coming to NY. Looking forward to next time!

Oh the dirty bird... I can't count the nights that i've argued with the constant carfull of drunken Staten Islanders about which diner to go to, and always, ALWAYS ending up on your door step. No matter how much I bad mouth you, you're always open, and you always take me back and for that I love you forever.
