The Dover Street Counter and Martino’s seemed to pop up out of nowhere, but coming from the team behind the Dover I knew they had to be visited. The Dover Street Counter is located just a couple of doors down from the original Dover. It’s a nicely set up space. The counter can accommodate around 20 people (facing a mix of bar and kitchen), and there is a larger amount of seating on regular tables divided between 2 other rooms which are fully separated from the counter area.
Myself and my wife were seated at the counter. We ordered the disco fries, tuna coupe, chicken sandwich, cheeseburger and grilled carrots. We also tried the cheesecake and chocolate ball for dessert. The food was very enjoyable. I’d describe it as classy comfort food. The disco fries went down well. I preferred the burger while my wife preferred the chicken sandwich but it was a close call either way. The cheesecake was our top pick of the desserts. I also tried a couple of cocktails which were well prepared.
Service was friendly and fairly speedy, we were done with our meal within an hour or so. The bill for our lunch came to £170 of which £67 was spent on drinks. Certainly one of the cheapest meals I’ve had in Mayfair in a long time. Overall an excellent lunch. I loved the posh American diner vibes, it’s a very buzzy place (just like the OG Dover), the food was solid and so was the service. I’d recommend going now before the inevitable hike in prices.
