The Best Restaurants, Wineries, and Wildlife in Adelaide, Australia | Eater

"One of the most whimsical wineries you’ll visit, ideal for sprawling on the lawn to sip wine, listen to live music, and watch the sun set; tastings highlight unique varieties and creative wines such as the Secret Garden grenache with ripe red-fruit notes, herbes de Provence, and Christmas spices." - Amanda Smith

I visited Down the Rabbit Hole on a beautiful day, and I was immediately impressed by how stunning the winery looked. The tasting room was especially unique—it’s built inside a converted two-story bus—and we enjoyed our wine tasting on the upper level. Our tasting was guided by Sandra, who was incredibly professional and full of passion. Thanks to her knowledge and warm service, our experience was both enjoyable and truly informative. As for the wines themselves, they were easy-drinking and very approachable. They aren’t heavy or overwhelming, which makes them a perfect match for the relaxed, picnic-like atmosphere of the winery. I had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning in the future.

Wow, can’t say enough good things about this lunch experience. Should be 10/10 stars. We had 1 x vegan and 1 x normal menu and they catered amazing and abundantly! This is the most insane value for money you will find as a feed-me menu and the food was so good! Service was extremely nice and attentive. Will definitely be going back. Highly recommend.

We visited Fiore at Down The Rabbit Hole and it honestly exceeded all expectations. You see these places on social media and hope they live up to their visually beautiful aesthetics - and honestly, they couldn’t have nailed it more. I love the seasonal menu, you can taste the freshness in all of the ingredients, and the creativity of flavours for each dish as well as the presentation and friendliness of staff just rounded out the experience. The wagyu carpaccio was insanely good, I mean it was all very very good. 100/10. I would 100% recommend to anyone visiting the area. Great going, team! Well done x

We visited ‘Down the rabbit hole’ winery today, 5th January 2026 & absolutely loved it. Beautiful Kerrie who served us, made it all the more special. Thank you Kerrie ❤️ We were a group of 6, just walked in and got a table. Beautiful wines, definitely recommend the cheese board and tasting. So reasonably priced and you can request a blanket and have a snooze under a tree. Your kids could just play around in the outdoor areas. Definitely coming back !! Keep up the great work Down the rabbit hole 👌

What a great place to visit when you are in South Australia. This place is in the McLaren wine growing area. You can enjoy both lunch and wine tasting. Be ready to line up during the holiday season as there are plenty of people visiting this place. You can have lunch sitting on the lawn or in a marquee. We ordered the pizza and baked potatoes. They were both yummy. They made their own pizza dough which is very soft and delicious and the cheese is plentiful and works well with the dough. Think of gourmet pizza. The baked potatoes was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The wine tasting is quite unique sitting inside a double decker bus. No bookings are required. For $25, you get to sample 6 types of wine. While we are no wine connoisseur, it was quite a relaxing event with plenty of time for bonding. Sitting on the top of a double decker bus is quite an experience. The hostess was also very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this activity.

Spent a beautiful afternoon at Down The Rabbit Hole Wines, and it truly lived up to the hype! The location is absolutely stunning — surrounded by rolling vineyards, open green fields, and that signature relaxed McLaren Vale vibe. It’s one of those places where you can unwind, sip good wine, and forget about time. The wines were incredible — smooth, well-balanced, and full of character. I especially enjoyed their reds, perfect to pair with the delicious food from their seasonal menu. Everything felt fresh, wholesome, and made with care. The presentation and flavours both stood out beautifully. As someone who loves photography, this place is a dream — from the charming bus bar and rustic seating to the sunset views over the vineyards, every corner is picture-perfect. Whether you’re going for a tasting, a relaxed lunch, or just to soak in the scenery, it’s worth every moment. Overall, Down The Rabbit Hole is a perfect blend of great wine, great food, and a beautiful atmosphere — a must-visit in McLaren Vale! 🍇✨

had the most gorgeous catch up at Down the Rabbit Hole. The service and food made our experience even more memorable. We shared the pumpkin and whipped ricotta pizza, which I truly haven’t stopped dreaming about and would highly recommend. We also enjoyed a few spritzes in the sun. Our server Toby was fantastic, incredibly attentive and friendly, and really made us feel looked after which topped off our experience. I’m coming back on Friday for Golden Times and can’t wait. We’re so lucky to have a place like this to visit!

Blatant price gouging an absolute rip-off This was genuinely one of the worst value food experiences we’ve had in years. Two years ago, we paid $38 for a generous, well-balanced cheese platter here. This visit, we were charged $78 for something that was frankly embarrassing. For $78 we received: • Only 3 cheeses • A few scraps of fruit • Minimal accompaniments • Portions so small they bordered on insulting This is not a premium platter it’s shrinkflation disguised as “artisan” pricing. Charging more than double the price for significantly less food is indefensible. We also paid $35 for a small bowl of pasta with barely any protein. Again, completely unjustifiable for the portion size and substance. Rising costs do not excuse this. Plenty of venues manage to adjust pricing without stripping value to the bone. This felt like pure cash-grab behaviour, trading on past reputation while delivering a dramatically downgraded product. What was once enjoyable is now overpriced, underdelivered, and forgettable. We won’t be returning and we certainly won’t be recommending this place to anyone who values their money.
