Best clam chowder and lobster stew in town. Lobster stew had as much or more lobster than your avg roll. Lobster roll was good but the soups are the winner here.

The food was fantastic! Great for something quick and on the go, and located next to the park which is a great spot for eating the food. The service was quick and amazing. I got the hot buttered lobster roll and the meat was so fresh, not fishy or chewy at all.

I went in excited for a delicious sandwich…. As I was next in line and asking the owner for a recommendation, she cut me off to take orders outside. When she returned, I ordered a Turkey Rachel, which was served to me very quickly… because it wasn’t toasted! I paid $17 for a turkey sandwich that I barely ate. Wouldn’t go back.

Downeast Deli is a small deli that packs a big punch at a great price! It was recommended to try this place, and it delivered. It is a small deli on a main street with a lot of foot traffic. The interior is small, without any seating. We placed our order and were asked to wait outside where they delivered it to us. We tried their lobster rolls. They were significantly cheaper than other locations around Bar Harbor, and they were tasty and fresh. The lobster rolls were the cheapest we found in all of Maine, and were almost $10 cheaper than anywhere in Bar Harbor. They were made to order and wrapped in very high quality paper. Although they were cheaper, they were still tasty and high quality. They were also LOADED with meat. My mouth is watering just thinking about them... Other locals suggested we try their clam chowder, but we sadly ran out of time.

Our packed lunches for our day of cycling were just terrific. Very tasty and generous sandwiches packed perfectly for taking in a back pack. This deli runs like clockwork but without compromising their super friendly service. We’ve gone twice so far on this trip and would happily go again. Thank you!

So nice we had to try it twice! Really enjoyed our bag lunches from here, sometimes it’s nice to just have a simple sandwich and chips when everything else in the area is fancy. The staff was great, sandwiches fantastic, and definitely our favorite meals during our trip! Make sure to try the blueberry pie!

I got a classic and buttered lobster roll. The butter one was okay. I prefer the classic. The amount of lobster portion was average. Not too much, and not too little. Nothing spectacular here not bad either. For $22 before tax is fair a lobster roll is reasonable. It comes with potatoes chips too.

Nice local take out deli with friendly customer service. The sandwiches are huge. The pasta salad is great. Perfect for a quick lunch on a park bench. Try the blueberry pie for dessert.

We rolled in today and grabbed the box lunch, dinner, which consisted of a lobster roll, clam chowder, and fresh blueberry pie. All of this came in a nice box to launch that we were able to take away and eat at a nearby park. I've never had a lobster roll, but I've always wanted to try one. Let me tell you some thing I should've been eating lobster rolls every week for the last 20 something years because they are absolutely delicious. We tried the warm rolls that were drenched in butter... Holy *#$! This was absolutely fantastic and was a complete home run. If you are in the Bar Harbor area, you need to check this place out because it is fantastic.

Great place to grab sandwiches! I went once last year to get lunch off the cruise boat to take into Acadia. Came back this summer for a whole week and got to go sandwiches 3 times. You can either call them in the morning before, stop in the day before, or stop by the day of to order. Note that they only pick up the phone during off peak hours. Staff are super nice. The sandwiches are generous portions and so filling. They hit just right after a long hike or bike ride. They have gluten free buns and will change gloves for you if you have celiacs. Don't be intimidated if you see a big line out the door. These folks know how to whip through a line like lightening. They are soooooo fast. I 10 out of 10 recommend this place for to go lunch and will definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

I can't express more how much I love this sandwich shop during my stay in Bar Harbor. The shop is small and you might miss it if you are anxiously looking for food, but I am glad that I didn't. The service was really fast. Although you cannot sit in to eat, why don't you try eating in the park around the corner with good views and street music? I ordered Deli sandwich for dinner one evening and came back for the lobster roll on the second morning. The deli was extremely tasty, with an exquisite balance of "juicy level", flavor and texture. The lobster roll was also a best morning treat :) Robin consistently showed her smile when I asked for recommendation. As I ordered coffee, she honestly let me know the time the coffee was made in case I didn't like long-roasted coffee. She cares about customers, and hence she deserves our appreciation.

I needed a sandwich to take with me on the CAT ferry so I picked one up at the Downeast Deli on Main Street. This is in the thick of tourist traffic, with a line out the door on a Saturday at lunchtime. Despite the line, things move quickly and efficiently, almost not enough time to take in the extensive sandwich menu. I ordered a Turkey " Rachel " which is a Reuben with coleslaw and several fresh breads to choose from. I can't over emphasize how delicious the turkey itself was. Thick, juicy and generously portioned. Of course they also have lobster rolls and chowder, and as if that weren't enough, salads and baked potatoes. I would definitely go back.

Very solid roast beef sandwich on some fresh country white. Came with a bag of lays. Added a small clam chowder. $20 flat. Solid spot.

I was searching for a quick bite to eat after being at Acadia all day. I was walking around Bar Harbor and saw the deli so I popped in. At first look they had an expansive menu, so I was definitely excited about the options. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch wrap and it was ready in record time, so I got a bit nervous! I took the wrap back to my hotel. At first sight, one of the wrap ends was open and all the contents were pouring out. One bite and spit it out - one of the worst foods I had ever had in my life. I tried one more time and it was completely inedible. I unwrapped the wrap and ate the bacon. Everything else inside was a no-go. I was furious on the $10+ dollars I had just spent. Keep walking and find somewhere else to eat!

Delicious sandwiches with a lot of meat for a great price. I also got the lobster roll served warm with melted butter and it was outstanding.

Our bike tour guide recommended this place and it was truly a hit!! Despite the line out the door and with takeout only ... we totally enjoyed the lobster roll, clam chowder and blueberry pie special ($34.95). So, so good!!! No frills deli counter with no seating there, but our orders came out quickly. We walked down the street to sit in the shade at the park and enjoyed our super fresh and yummy lobster rolls (mine warm with butter and DH's naked) ... along with the creamy clam chowder and blueberry pie to finish things off. We'll definitely be back ... if we find ourselves in Bar Harbor again!! Yummy!!!

Amazing sandwiches! We took ours into the park to eat and they stayed great for hours in our cooler. I will say the shop is easy to miss. At first we thought it was the pizza place because they have the same logo and name but turned the corner to see the sandwich shop was open. Definitely try it if you are looking for great sandwiches.

Doesn't look like much when you see it on the corner amongst all the cute little shops and tourist stores, but their $31.95 meal special sign caught our attention, and we decided to give it a shot. As other reviews mentioned, the Lobster Roll was smaller than expected but was so full of delicious chunks of fresh and full of flavor lobster meat on a soft yummy roll (yes, hot dog size) that we forgave the size, lol. The meal came with a clam chowder that was hot and delicious! And - I'm not kidding, the best Blueberry pie and most delicious flaky crust ever! So don't let the little corner shop with no ambiance keto you from going in & getting the best meal around!!!

Great place to pick up a bag lunch with decent sandwiches for hikes in Acadia. They're large, so the second day my husband and I shared one.

Service was very quick. The chicken that they use in their wraps are these hard, dry, unseasoned, diced chicken cubes, which were not very good. The wraps are bland because they don't put a lot of sauce. The chicken Caesar wrap was a 6/10. The ginger chicken wrap was a 5/10. I would definitely pass on the wraps and only get the lobster rolls next time. The hot lobster roll with butter was small but super tasty!

We picked up sandwiches and wraps from here a couple of times. It's a small business worth supporting. Service is exceptionally friendly and fast - it only took us around 5 minutes to have our orders ready. I tried the chicken bacon wrap and the chicken avocado wrap, and both were fresh and delicious!

This place was SO impressive! We walked in there before heading into the park for the day (we made the mistake of going in empty-handed the day before) and they had our freshly made sandwiches ready for us (and our chips) before we even finished paying. After a long hike, I can not even begin to describe how great these tasted. I got the ham and cheese with gluten free bread and it was delicious. They were not shy (at all) with the amount of meat that they gave us and the prices were more than reasonable. Their staff was exceptionally kind. Anyone going into the park for the day should definitely stop here!

This place is legit. Good bang for your buck AND sandwiches tastes pretty good. $8.50-10.50 each and stacked. Lobster rolls are the cheapest in town at $25 and LOADED was meat comparatively. The clam chowder was also so very affordable at $9 for 16 oz when the other restaurants are charging nearly $20 for a cup! I highly recommend this little deli. Open early and closes late. The only eatery that we've been satisfied with in Bar Harbor.

So overpriced! Sandwich had a big slab of turkey. Never had a sandwich like this before. Won't be returning.

Had the chicken Caesar wrap which turned out to be dry with no flavor. But when you're hungry, anything will do. Asked for a plate and said they didn't have any when I said it was right there and still wouldn't give it to me. Sheez.

Really dry sandwiches with little to no flavor. They also don't allow you to make really any changes to the sandwich's without having to pay the hefty price for 2 sandwiches just for the 1. Will not be coming back.

This place looks like a hole in the wall but the sandwitchss are fresh and tasty! I had thr corn beef while my mother got the turkey sandwitch. The turkey was like real turkey breast not the stuff that you get at a supermarket deli. The corn beef was also fresh. The service was quick even with a line out the door. The only downside is no seating indoors but that's OK because there are benches all over the place outside and you are a quick walk to the harbor if you want to eat while boat watching.

Had a great meal there today. Food and service were wonderful. We left a pair of newly purchased sunglasses and when we went back with little hope the staff had them for us. We got to share a loud "SCORE" and a high five with a couple of the staff. Wonderful experience.

What a great little shop. The best price on Lobster Rolls! Don't miss the Blueberry Pie. The crust was light and flaky. The filling was the perfect tartness. The staff was friendly and service was quick.

Giving this deli 4 stars because I suspect they are a local business and can appreciate that! For their sandwiches themselves I would truthfully give them 3 stars as I think they're honestly only as good as a super market sub while you're paying deli prices (also over priced since Bar Harbor is so touristy). I suspect that people come here if they aren't wanting to pay for the overpriced restaurants in the area or want food to take into Acadia NP. You are better off going to the super market a few blocks down and getting more food for your money. The bread and meats were very low quality and not very flavorful. Also I found it interesting that they seem to advertise lobster rolls and lobster stew quite a bit but in the 30 mins it took to stand in line, order and get my sandwich I didn't see a single person get lobster.

Simple sandwich shop with no seating, just walk up to the counter and order. You have to wait outside and they bring your food out. We ordered the Thanksgiving sandwich and had to wait about 15 minutes. I wanna say majority of their sandwiches were about $15. The sandwich was large and full, easily shared between my husband and I. Plus it came with a bag of chips. We walked over and enjoyed our sandwich at the park close by. Great lunch!

Was told by a couple folks to stop in for their well priced lobster roll. At the time we went the line was less than 10 minutes and was worth the wait. We got the hot buttered roll with a side of Cole slaw & Potato salad and of course with potato chips. Everything was flavorful and satisfying.

Always a must on our trips into Bar Harbor. Their lobster roll combo with clam chowder and blueberry pie is always a favorite! The service is always fast and friendly.

This place is amazing! The food is so good and affordable! We got two wraps which they were able to customize to be dairy free and they gave us chips! They were very friendly and allowed our dog inside and even gave him treats and water. An extra points because it was super warm in there and it's raining outside. All in all wonderful place would recommend it 10 out of 10 service with a smile goes a long way

Walked in because it advertised a $25 lobster roll, and we're happy to see a deal called the "Downeast Delite" which includes a lobster roll, cup of new england clam chowder, and a slice of pie for 35 dollars! Lobster roll is very tasty and included a good amount of lobster. Clam chowder is EXCELLENT! Blueberry pie was delicious. Lobster stew is good, and I plan to dip bread in it. Very buttery. Best bang for your buck!

Ordered the vegetable avocado wrap- YUM!!! So fresh tasting and flavorful with the sauce.

I ordered a sandwich from Downeast Dele after reading a number of good reviews- I ordered the Thanksgiving sandwich and it was FANTASTIC! I also had the potato and egg salad, also delicious. You won't go wrong with getting lunch here!

Cute little sandwich and salad shop. Really not much seating, in fact, right now none. COVID policy, only two persons at a time for take-out orders only. Fine with us, better safe than sorry. We ordered a chicken salad wrap with the fixin's lettuce, tomato and cheese. Also a BLT on buttered and toasted marble rye. Both efficiently served in a box along with a bay of Lays and dill pickle wedge. Added two side salads, an Italian Macaroni and a fresh fruit salad along with an iced tea & Dr Peppa. The sever and chef extremely friendly and happy people. The day in the great metropolis of Bar Harbor was superb. So out we went with our boxes, turned the corner, crossed the street, and we were in the Harbor side park. Up on a hilltop with a commanding view of the picturesque Harbor and docks. We kicked back on a bench and enjoyed our splendid sandwiches. As for the side salads, they had to wait for the evening. Nuthin' coulda' ben fina' in Ba Haba!!!

A great option for grabbing sandwiches to take for a picnic at any of the picturesque parks in Bar Harbor. We ordered the turkey sandwich and the roast beef on a Kaiser roll. My fiancé devoured his turkey sandwich and after trying a bite of my roast beef, said he'd come back again to have that too. We also split a piece of blueberry pie, which is a solid contender in the rankings on the island. My only suggestion is to slice the roast beef thinner and use a softer bun. Pro tip: March across the street to the ice cream emporium to pick up a scoop and make your pie a la mode!

The deli has a great Thanksgiving sandwich. I had it without the cheese (no lactose for me), and it was fantastic! My spouse had the Italian and liked that too. Both came with chips. I'd called ahead and our sandwiches were ready by the time we walked over, maybe 10 mins later. We were so glad to eat those sandwiches in Acadia NP later in the day. Highly recommend this place!

This place is the perfect find for a take-away sandwich to eat on the square or on a hike! We had a Turkey + Swiss on a sub roll with LTO+pickles with mayo and oil and vinegar. It was made to order. The turkey was made from a roast -- not deli meats. I also ordered a BROWNIE because they were big fat looking things and they were THE BOMB. Don't pass it up. This place will satisfy you! The staff was kind and concerned to be sure my order was precisely what I wanted. Ambiance reminded me of any hoagie place in Jersey -- no frills.

Every year during our New England Bar Harbor tour we stop for the Day After Thanksgiving Sandwich and take atop Cadillac Mountain for lunch. Best Ever....

Great service, the owner is terrific! We ordered the "bag lunch" sandwiches, they tasted great and were a great value. A nice large sandwich with a bag chips, you can't go wrong. She even gave us a complimentary brownie that was dynamite! For all the crabby people out there that just want to complain ... zip it up, kindness goes a long way!!

Very kind staff, ready to serve everyone with enthusiasm and delight! Great place to pick up a lunch order and make a picnic out of it some place of your choosing in Acadia National Park! We had our picnic at Echo Lake, perfect place to relax and take in the sights! The salad and sandwich were well made and delicious!

Bottom line: Great sandwiches of you're planning a day out or if you're looking for a takeout option in Bar Harbor. Pros: we had the tuna sandwich and egg salad sandwich. Both were top notch. Maybe some of the best of had of the genre. Cons: It kind of weird to walk into a place of business and the first thing you see are signs of what not to do (don't dare take out your cellphone!). Of course I agree with them. It just made me feel unwelcome. Service wasn't cuddly either. Twice on two separate days. Not sure I disliked that, but felt prickly nonetheless.

Omg amazing lobster stew and lobster roll. By far the best ones in the area. No thrill kind of place and you better have cash or a minimum of $10 for credit cards, which shouldn't be hard to meet. I highly recommend coming here when in Bar Harbor. You get what you come to Maine for and it's delicious.

Just stopped here. Waiting in line of 10 people. A local "Bob" walks in and mutters "look at the line. I shoulda called ahead." Owner greets him and asks "you didn't call in?" and allows him to order two sandwiches! I call BULLSHIT!! My first time in Bar Harbor. Really like it and talking of coming back in the spring. When we do WE WILL NOT COME HERE! And neither should anyone else. I know you rely on locals off season but I bet the cruise industry pays the rent! One star only cause I can't give A BIG FAT Z-E-R-O!

Yummmm! The lobster roll (classic) is delicious with a generous amount of lobster. The owner was incredibly friendly and wonderful. We also got the Reuben and the tomato cheddar soup! Everything was perfect. Highly recommend.

We wanted to take a picnic, and grabbed to go from here. There is nowhere to eat in, most people cross the street and eat in the park. We took our sandwiches to the top of Cadillac Mountain for lunch with a view. They have the best Thanksgiving Day sandwich, which I call the Gobbler. Real Turkey, stuffing, cranberry, cheese and Mayo on white bread. It was epic. My done had the Italian, and my husband got a California Wrap. It was a little pricey, $58 got 4 sandwiches, but they were good and Bar Harbor is known for their "tourist" prices. Would do it again!

Cute small lobster roll / sandwich / salad / dessert shop! Everything was so delicious and fresh - high quality foods with generous portions. Open early in the morning, so it's perfect to grab-and-go, and start early-bird traveling in Bar Harbor. We've tried classic/hot lobster rolls, clam chowder soup, house salad, and blueberry cake. All the foods were lightly seasoned, but full of flavors. So so so fresh and tasted healthy. Moderately priced too (Frankly, I felt that the foods were low-priced compared to their excellent quality and freshness). The staff was kind and friendly. This place made our journey more happier. Thank you!
