This is a great place to hang with friends! Great food and service. We enjoyed the Reuben sandwich that is big enough to share! Fries nice and crispy. Had the Irish Burger (had corned beef on top).very tasty. Also had the Albanian salad that was tomatoes, cucumber and feta cheese. Lots of beer on tap. Sports bar vibe.

We made a reservation for my birthday on a Saturday night. Drinks were tasty and beers were fresh. The table ordered a flaming cheese and calamari. Both were good. Dinner was whitefish and lamb chop. We both loved our meals! For my birthday, they surprised me with fried Oreos. Yum!!! We will definitely be back!

Google
Ordered an east side burger, was supposed to come with wedge fries. When I came in to pick up my order she said they tried to inform me they ran out of hamburger buns but I never received a call from them and when I mentioned that they didn’t try to reach out she said she didn’t have my number, so I’m not sure why they’d say they tried to inform me— if that was the case I wouldn’t have came. Burger was undercooked so was the “Texas toast” they put it on. Asked for mayo & ketchup and received mayo and mustard instead. Just be aware you will not receive what you order. Just seems like they’re putting anything out to make an order. Not as advertised.

December 2024 - came here on a date night before going to the Fillmore to see Brian Regan. Wonderful place and loved the inside. We ordered the Steak Bites and the sauce was very good. The steak was good. My wife ordered the Reuben and I ordered the pork chops. I did see an elevator in the basement. They do have a bathroom and a great place to visit before doing something else in Detroit.

Excelente hamberguesa. Seriously though, the food was tasty. We all had burgers, but the one with the fried egg and bacon was on point.

Food was great. Enjoyed the Louie burger. Steak tips appetizer was tasty. Got some dessert to go for the hotel room. Loved the atmosphere. This place is a winner.

Came here for dinner with friends last weekend. The restaurant itself is really cool. I love the layout, vibes, atmosphere and overall decor. Our waitress was also top notch. She was attentive, timely, and always there checking on us to make sure we had full drinks and everything we needed. She was also really funny, joining us with some humorous bantor. The drinks we ordered were really good. These included the espresso martini, house margarita, and moscow mule. We started with a calamari appetizer which was fantastic. For dinner, two of us ordered a burger, one has a corned beef sandwich, and last there was a chicken club. Overall, everyone really likes their food. The one problem we had was half of my burger had so much grease that half of the bottom bun was soaked and mushy. I cut the burger in half and ate the part that didn't have a mushy bottom bun. I'm sure I could have asked for a new bottom bun but I didn't have that big of an appetite so I let it go.

Google
The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. The quality/taste of the appetizers did not equate to the prices. The stakes bites were ordered Medium, some were a bit raw and overall had no flavor. For the price, it’s unfortunate for it to be served with canned mushrooms. The Saganaki was well..saganaki. The cheese sticks came with hard cheese in the center, not gooey and the marinara sauce served on the side came cold. The burger came at a good size and the chicken sandwich was better than the appetizers.

Yelp
T We were down in the D for a company retreat and found this gem around the corner. We were at another local establishment experiencing poor service and hearing multiple menus items were out so we decided to check Yelp for another option. We found Louie's and were greeted with smiles! They seated us immediately upstairs where they had room for 7. Took our order right away! The food was quick and impeccable! I know we will be back when we come downtown next time!

Yelp
Walking to the Airbnb after a full day's work and followed Yelp here. Loving practicing for retirement! Starting with saganaki and roasted Brussels sprouts. We'll see if we want more. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach Brandi tells me the "seasonal veggies "'are FRESH and not cooked to mush. Excited to try them next time. Give Louie's a try!!

Yelp
One of my regular favorites. Service is always wonderful. Nice casual vibe. TVs for sports. Short walk to many entertainment venues.

Yelp
Always a solid go to. We've been going for almost a decade and love it. Good atmosphere and staff is always nice. Food has been consistently solid.

Yelp
Downtown Louie's was super easy to find. And, was right down the road from our hotel. I would describe it as a step-up sports bar with traditional bar offerings and decent entrees as well. We made a reservation and thankfully so because they were steady. And, the staff were friendly and attentive. We elected for a steak Cesar salad and NY strip. Both options were tasty and not heavy. Our cocktails of choice: dirty gin martini and a Manhattan, both left us satisfied with our selection. If you're looking for an easy access, busy yet welcoming spot to have a nicer dinner and catch a game, this is your spot!

Yelp
Solid burger bar with a very cool ambiance in a great location. Service is good and bar and wine selection on point.

Yelp
Great ambiance and service. The old architecture was fun to see. Don't order the brussel sprouts though. They weren't that good.

Yelp
Came here with a party of seven tonight. Ambience was great. Food was generally decent, nobody complained. We ordered macaroni and cheese, steak, salmon, fried calamari, various salads, a burger, the soup... they had French onion on the menu, but were out so gave us something else - same with the caprese salad. Everybody ate their food and thought it was good. Steak was a little tough but I thought it was OK. Cocktails were surprisingly good. House Pinot was totally undrinkable -- literally left it on the table. We ended up ordering the Duckhorn red blend which was delicious (but 90 bucks for the bottle!). Service was pretty junior league. Nice guys who were trying but were clearly inexperienced (tried to take the female orders first, but didn't walk around the table and made us shout, then, couldn't remember who had what, that sort of thing). Salad, soup, and entrées all came out at the same time, which is a little ridiculous. I had to walk downstairs to ask for wine to go with dinner as no one offered it up after our cocktails were depleted. The manager or owner or whoever he was came to apologize, but did nothing to make it right. He just made excuses about their crappy POS system. Almost $500 for the above. With so many choices in downtown Detroit, I'm not sure I'll come back.

Yelp
We came here on yesterday for our Birthday Dinner. We set reservations and was seated promptly. The server Brandi was amazing and had us laughing the whole time. The food was excellent and served really fast. The vibe is interchangeable, you can have a romantic dinner or go in for happy hour. Definitely a must try

Yelp
We had very few choices to eat out on a Monday in Downtown Detroit so we gave Louie's a try. We parked in a lot across the street for $10.00, don't be fooled and pay $20 for a lot with similar walking distance! We were greeted and seated immediately in a booth. The restaurant has an odd look from the outside but is beautiful on the inside. My son and I tried the Chicken Caprese Entree and it was delicious! The prices here are a bit steep, but the food was so good and the service was prompt. Taking away one star because our waitress wasn't the friendliest. We were dressed kind of casually due to a long day of travel and the waitress gave us a snooty vibe. Maybe her personality? Maybe our appearance?

Yelp
Downtown Louie's is a staple. We order the chicken Marsala when we go & it never lets us down. It's a 2 story establishment that serves you in a fine dining manner. If you're looking to celebrate intimately or enjoy a date night, this is your spot.

Yelp
I was too hungry and forgot to take photos. I have been here many times and have taken photos before. Food is always good along with the service. It is on the loud side because of the high ceiling but this is one one my go to restaurants in Detroit. Had the whitefish this time. Very good. Had beef tips and calamari for apps. All very good.

Yelp
We were on our way to a show and a little underdressed but the owner of Cafe D Mongo recommended this place to us. The bartender was an absolute doll and the drinks were great. We only ordered appetizers but they were very good and everyone's food around us also looked really wonderful. I glanced over the menu and the prices seemed fair for a downtown restaurant. I would definitely return next time I'm in Detroit.

Cedric I.

Yelp
I received great service from Brandi while eating at this restaurant. If you are in Detroit for any reason, you have to visit this restaurant and meet Brandi.

Yelp
This place is Solid Atmosphere gives me old school steakhouse. Service was consistent from the host to The server. A lot ca. be said for a restaurants "complimentary" bread. This was lack luster: cold, kinda stale. The butter tasted like it had cheese in it. Just ok. Didn't even eat it all which says a lot as I was famished. Meal was pretty good. Branzino( sea bass) is typically a moist fish. I wish they didn't rob me of that experience. I had to ask for a sauce to make up for it. The seasoning was "jerk" without the heat and frankly alot of the spice. Tasted more blackened honestly. The green beans and masted potatoes were delectable. My friend ordered the fries whitefish and LOVED it. Well balanced, moist, perfectly fried. No complaints. Overall, a solid meal.

Aaron E.

Yelp
A tale of contrasts. I have a feeling Downtown Loui's is suffering from an identity crisis. I was surprised to find a lot of available time slots for reservations on a busy Saturday night with a Tigers game, a major concert and a festival all downtown. Amazing location yet not busy, Beautiful high end interior yet low end document protector menus. Great servers (thank you Brandi) yet bottled beer with no glass and classic rock. It's as though someone bought a former upscale steak house and made it into a sports bar. Being one for good cocktails and premium menu choices, I settled for a burger and a beer. The battered potato wedge fries were average sports bar variety but the turkey burger that I opted to substitute with beef was really good. Even the onion rings used to garnish the bun were just okay. The bottom line is I have zero doubt the owners are great people that you would be thankful to meet. I also want this place to do well, it just struck me while noticing the exceptional work someone did in the basement (on the way to the bathrooms) while listening to AC/DC. I'll be back but I genuinely hope things get stepped up a bit.

Yelp
Chill spot to grab some drinks with a friend or small group and watch a game or just to catch up. Friendly staff and a cool ambience. Didn't get to stay very long and had the broccoli cheddar soup, it was on point.

Yelp
Great place for a group! Great service, good food and good drinks, good atmosphere and if you sit at the bar you can watch sports. The table ordered chicken wings - YUM and fried calamari. The calamari is a nice texture, fried to perfection and served with a dipping sauce. Most of the table ordered the filet mignon - a HUGE hit! I had the lamb chops that were cooked perfectly medium rare. We had a birthday in our group and during dessert that brought out a cool fire cracker fountain in the dish, it was so cool and she was so surprised.

Yelp
Let me be clear; I hate to leave bad reviews. But I am disappointed with our experience on 2/16/24. We went downtown to see Wicked at 7:30 (a 3-5 minute walk from here) and thought 6pm would be enough time to have dinner and a drink. We got seated in the corner of the restaurant and quickly met disappointment when the restaurant menu did NOT match the website menu. We specifically came for the lamb chops and Mac n cheese that simply wasn't offered anymore and even considered leaving to go somewhere else. Besides us we only saw 4 tables seated on the lower level. Our server was slow to show up and the drinks alone took 20 minutes but we have no complaint about those or the saganaki. About an hour in another table arrived next to us and received all 4 of their appetizers and drinks before our entree! We got our food at 7:20- an entire hour and 20 minutes after reservation time!!! We are EMS providers and regularly have to scarf our food down at work so it was a real slap in the face to have to do it here, not to mention it was my partners BIRTHDAY. We also weren't warned about the automatic gratuity so we accidentally tipped the lady extra when she forgot to put our ticket in!! $136 total. We only received 20% off the bill until I started sobbing and got a $25 to THEIR RESTAURANT which I NEVER wish to go back to. It was supposed to be a magical birthday dinner at a restaurant we thought was going to be upscale but ended up being a glorified bar. I could get better steak at Texas Roadhouse for MUCH less than $45 each!!! :( We didn't even get to finish our food and felt so hungry that we went to jojo's to finish out the night. Hoping this was just a fluke and that this restaurant is really good as the reviews say! So so sad!

Yelp
Great place and atmosphere! Every time I come here great service, food and drinks!! Nice location and within walking distance of many Detroit area attractions. Their hrs are 5p-11p, closed on Sundays!
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
I stopped here for a quick dinner with a colleague while on a conference. I ordered the asparagus soup which was very tasty. My salad, however, was a bit over seasoned for my taste so it was hard to finish it at the end. Our server was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. My total for a salad, soup, and beer was $46. I thought it was pretty pricey considering I ordered appetizers and only 1 drink.

Yelp
We had a great time in this place last year. Highly recommend it. The food and fun was top notch. Live band was great. Say hi to the owner for us!
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I ordered their margarita and it was the best I've ever had, which is saying A LOT! The cucumber jalapeño tequila made it. You've got to try this place out.
google avatar

Lindsay L.

Yelp
This location is cool looking from the outside but it is very expensive for really mediocre food. The fried calamari was not very good and didn't even come with marinara sauce. The dirty martini was pretty good but the service was average even just sitting at the bar. It is very open and has tall ceilings and a second story which is cool.
google avatar

Sumayyiah A.

Yelp
Nice lil date bar it has light apps selection and a seating area like restaurants I would go again i went on a Tuesday and it was chill vibes. I sat at the bar it does have a upstairs i think for reservations
google avatar

Yelp
Classic decoration is chic in a way. Only served the "special day menu" on Valentine's Day. The Special Day menu only offers 3-Course dinner, with appetizers are not included. Limited choices. A bit pricey for something about average.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in the city, and I'm happy they survived. But, surviving is not the same thing as thriving. I understand how spreading the tables apart limits the number of guests. They seem to have done everything they need to do to be safe. But, issues I had here were not related to distancing or safety. We started with the fried Brussels sprouts. They topped them with Parmesan cheese, which it didn't need. The portion size was good, but they were greasy. One of my favorite things here was the Reuben. It's packed with quality corned beef, and a decent value for $16. But, a cold Reuben is no fun. It seems that they were waiting to bake the mac and cheese we ordered and let the Reuben get cold. But, that doesn't explain all of it. The Swiss wasn't melted at all. The bread looked like it might have been lightly toasted, but that's it. All 3 of us who got Reubens got them cold with unmelted cheese. They remade the Reubens, and did them properly this time. But, it seems the cook doesn't like to use butter on the bread: it was crispy the second time around, but otherwise nothing else. The fries were a different story. They were lukewarm, but still amazing. Now about the mac and cheese that caused all this trouble. They're a 5 cheese with crouton crumbles and garlic. The whole effect was...good, but not great. It's creamy, but the flavor was overtaken by the garlic. Service was very good, and the drinks were about the same price as before. But, the food was a little bit more than before, and there's now a mandatory 20% gratuity. I'm bummed that the salmon sandwich is no longer on the menu, but I understand that places need to slim down their menu. I'm still glad they're open, but there are a few things they need to fix before they get back to the lofty heights they achieved before.

John O.

Yelp
Was one of the best in Downtown Detroit, but like so many restaurants in the D they've decided to use the excuse of the pandemic to screw the customer. Raised prices, smaller portions, crappy service and automatic gratuity added to everything! Last time I was there bartender messed up my drink, (twice); served the wrong meal and got a 20% tip - Shameful.
google avatar

Yelp
Saddled up to my usual spot, order mushroom gnocchi with extra mushrooms and a side salad. Place has been here about 6 years. Was in the transformer movie. Bartender is cool, let me know the small salad was enough for me since I ordered a main entree too. The salad is hearty looking, lots of cheese, had to take a bit off since it was too much for me. The dressing is light, tart from the vinegar and good. The small salad is a good size, what's their large look like then. It's a nice blend is spinach and mixed greens, good roughage. They use English cucumbers. Their big salad I am told is huge. Their small is a large at other places for sure. Their mushroom gnocchi is yummy, tons of mushrooms, then again I did ask for extra mushrooms. Their portion is quite generous here for sure. This gnocchi would be out of this stratosphere if it was infused with some truffle oil, next time. Nice caramelized onions too. The gnocchi might be a bit overdone and was a bit too soft, but still not bad. It's great this place came back to the D. It's in such an iconic and cool looking building, the interior fits the classic exterior and the food is solid too. The bathrooms are in the basement.

Dunia K.

Yelp
The food was not good at all. Seriously dont waste your money on bad food. We order the beef tips and they tasted like they were boiled in the zip juice. They were over cooked. The Brussels sprouts were soaked in oil. Service was decent. Ambiance was nice. However, I would not go back or recommend it.

Yelp
First time into Downtown Louie's! It is absolutely beautiful inside! The staff is very kind! Glen is a terrific waiter! Great service. The steak tips so delicious! I had the Michigan Cherry salad which was great for two! Burger & fries probably the very best in the city! Well worth the money! Limited menu, but enough to find something!

Michele S.

Yelp
This was a nice spot for our first dinner in Detroit. We made reservations based off of Yelp reviews and they were pretty accurate. The food was good, they were out of the vegetarian lasagna so I got a salad and shared the brussel sprouts with my husband. He got the whitefish. We enjoyed all of our food and the cocktails were well-made. The ambiance is a fun sports bar and the service is fine. It is a good place to check out when in the area.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
Friendly staff and an easy walk from downtown. Expect a flavorful menu as well as a full belly if you dare try and conquer the appetizers with your entrees.
google avatar

Gabrielle D.

Yelp
Ughhhh, I have mixed feelings about this place. So let's start off with the GOOD. The waitstaff was nice and had decent customer service. The food was amazing very delicious even though I only ordered the wings and Calamari with 4 shots. The restaurant is in the heart of Downtown Detroit, Michigan and it is beautiful in the inside just as it is nice on the outside. It is in a good location downtown. Now, the bad, I didn't like they force me to tip. Like the tip was automatically included @ 20% and we were only a party of 2. Don't get me wrong I was planning to tip but I wanted to tip the amount I wanted.... That didn't sit right with me at all and to be honest if I knew this I would have not ate there. So, yes for that reason along I had to take 2 stars away because I don't feel like I got my value for my money. The restaurant's nice but not that nice and fancy to be so pricey and bougie. The food is pricey $16.00 for 8 wings. I wanted to enjoy a restaurant downtown, but I didn't get value or nice portions from this restaurant. I personally would not go back to this restaurant if I ever visit Detroit again, but I will recommend it as a try because the food was delicious, especially the Calamari
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Good dinner, lovely atmosphere and service was great. There was a magician walking through and it was the highlight of the meal. So entertaining and fun! My meal was good but huge portions.

Marie W.

Yelp
My friends and I were very excited to dine here. We made a reservation for 5 pm and were promptly seated. It went downhill from there. The waitress was awful and had a really bad attitude. We ordered our drinks at 5:15. Two of my friends got their drinks at 6 pm while me and my other friends and I never got ours. It took over an hour to get our food, and there were other tables that had come in after us that got their food before we did. Each time we asked our waitress about our food or drinks, she would just shrug her shoulders, mumble something, and walk away. We finally got our food, but only after we talked to the manager, who comped our meals and drinks and had other wait staff bring our food to the table. I know it was super busy because of the Ed Sheeran concert, but there was no excuse for our waitresses' horrible service and attitude.
google avatar

Yelp
The owners could not be bothered to shut down after their server of almost five years passed away this past Halloween. Even though the day of her funeral fell on the slowest day of the week. After sitting through countless meetings where we were told were "like family", that just doesn't seem very family like. Also the chef is a giant @ssh0le who doesn't allow substitutions (even though the food is ridiculously over priced) and does not allow the front of house staff to speak to him.
google avatar

Debbie H.

Yelp
Great time and good food. Fun atmosphere and stylish bar. Classic with a nice wine list old school charm with a modern vibe. Albanian Salad was fantastic with a sweet and tangy dressing. Burgers were smoky and grilled perfectly. Anniversary dinner with friends. A night well spent.
google avatar

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Our first time in this "hidden" gem, celebrating our son's birthday. Only drawback: Made reservations through Open Table, which never reached the last restaurant even though I received a confirmation. I have an allergy and needed to speak with the staff but their voicemail was full. I finally got through right at 5 pm and was assured that my allergy would be accommodated. Our waiter was Glen, and he's fantastic! We had the filet, the strip, the fish and chips, and the Brussels sprouts. All were perfectly cooked and delicious. We'll definitely return, and highly recommend!

william b.

Yelp
Over priced , over rated and terrible management and service. My wife and I were the first customer of the day. No one but the bartender spoke ,but only because we sat at the bar. Manager sat three seats over and never acknowledged us. Menu was extremely limited from our past experience. I'm not really the review type but I couldn't help it.

Laurie P.

Yelp
Decided to stop here while wandering around downtown. Loved the atmosphere, and we were seated right away. However, our server was barely attentive, and slow. The drink I had was great - "The Transformer", a mix of gin, basil, cucumber, elderflower and fresh lemon. I'm not normally a fan of gin, but this was delicious. For an app, we had the brussels sprouts, prepared with sriracha, honey, and lime - and they were definitely my favorite part of the meal. So good! I had the lamb burger, cooked medium, topped with Hungarian peppers, and garlic yogurt. It was tasty, but bland, and the bun was dry. The salad that came on the side was a nice mix of cucumbers, tomato, and green olives with some kind of oil vinaigrette. My friend ordered a regular burger and asked it to be prepared medium-well, and what she received was most definitely medium rare. The waitress seemed put out when my friend sent it back, and I swear they just stuck the whole plate - fries and all - into an oven to heat it more. It was a little less pink, but still not medium-well. At that point, my friend just ate it anyway. Probably would suggest this place for drinks and apps, but dinner and service were lacking.

Yelp
Steak Tips - Good Calamari - Don't Order...Frozen! French Onion - Solid Mussels - Good Albanian Salad - Solid Pork Chop - Good Burger - Solid Lamb Chops - Order w/o Glaze Mac'n Cheese - Solid Filet - Don't Order @ $52

Yelp
This spot is not as good as the mount Clemens location. The food is good. But this is more of a diner style restaurant and not like restaurant. Good service but the portions sizes are smaller than the other locations. But this is downtown so, people are in and out.
google avatar

Mario C.

Yelp
Nice ambience. Service was...Eh! Food was decent but nothing special. I did like the French fries.

Yelp
The location is great and it's one of the few places jn Detroit that is open "late" (it's odd everything closes at 9pm or 10pm in the area?) I ordered the Louie Burger cooked medium, but it was over cooked and the fries were a bit stale. The brioche buns were soft and delicious. My friends ordered the lamb shank and they were just greasy and hard to chew. For the price of the menu, the quality of food, and service. This place is better to just order beer and call it a day.

We had a Saturday night dinner reservation for four people. The atmosphere was very unique. There are two TVs above the bar area but they do not take away from the fine dining ambience of the restaurant. Fresh bread and butter was brought to the table right away. We ordered calamari and Brussel sprouts for an appetizer. They have the best Brussel sprouts I've ever had! For dinner, we ordered the filet and salmon. Both were very tasty and cooked correctly. We ordered chocolate cake and the fried Oreos for dessert. This was a fantastic dining experience. We highly recommend.

Yelp
my family and I went to Louies for New Years eve dinner - they were out of one appetizer and several entrees - the waitress forgot our shrimp appetizer, we ran out of bread while waiting for our food, I had to go to the hostess to ask for more bread, the food was excellent, no kidding, well done Oh, there was a $90 waitress tip included with our bill- my wife talked with the manager on the way out- he said they were shortstaffed- OK so he sat us at a table when he knew he could not provide service - shame on him

Yelp
this place is disgusting. we killed probably the largest fly we have ever seen within the first 30 minutes of the meal. steak was insanely over -cooked and whitefish was burnt. a taste of char followed us for the remainder of the night. almost completely empty on a thursday night. so disappointed and not worth the price.
