Came to Dozo Omakase & Hand Roll on a Saturday night--glad we made reservations since the space is small. You're seated directly in front of the sushi chef, who prepares each roll for you throughout the meal, which adds a personal and engaging touch.
If you're a fan of raw sushi, this place is a great pick. They offer several omakase options--we went with the 15-course roll meal. It may sound like a lot, but it's just one piece per course, so it's more about variety than quantity. You get to sample a wide range of raw seafood, and the meal wraps up with a Japanese-style dessert.
The reason for the 4 stars is that the experience lacked a bit of guidance. The chef didn't really explain anything--no suggestions on whether to use chopsticks or your hands, or even what you were being served at times. If I hadn't come with my date, who's familiar with this style of Japanese dining, I honestly wouldn't have known what to do.
Still, it's a unique and worthwhile experience if you enjoy raw sushi and are open to a more hands-off, traditional omakase format
