Update: nine days ago I received half of my order. The other half has not been delivered. Nine days ago I contacted this company and asked when I could come by and pick up my other half. There has been NO RESPONSE OF ANY KIND. I emailed again today. If they do not return my inquiry by next Tuesday I will be paying them a visit. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I miss Lifetouch.
Our school switched from Lifetouch to DR Photo this year. I had hoped this would be a positive change and the idea of supporting a local business held great appeal. However, fall photos were no better than Lifetouch (and some of my kids' friends' photos were worse!!) and more expensive. Spring photos were absolutely abominable in comparison to Lifetouch - which did a great job with spring photos last year. DR Photo chose an extremely awkward pose for every student and cut off their legs despite the fact that the chosen pose was standing like Captain Morgan. For class photos, this company decided to have each child face the camera head-on with their shoulders squared back (a terrible angle, just look at your drivers license and you'll see why). This was done individually and then each class would be PHOTOSHOPPED TOGETHER. Totally defeats the purpose of a class photo - inorganic, and a waste of time and money (again, these spring and class photos were priced higher than those of Lifetouch). To make matters worse, we ordered class photos for my kids as part of tradition and they don't have an exact date as to when to expect them. When I inquired I was told by Barbara (customer service) that they were still printing and "should be" given to us by the end of the school year. Lifetouch, again, had them to us last year by May 3 - the expected date of delivery.
It's a real shame that this company doesn't care about its customers or its reputation. As a photographer myself, I am trained to recognize quality and understand ethical business practices. If you wish to compete with larger companies such as Lifetouch you must either be artistically and technically superior or you must have cheaper rates and fantastic customer service - or honestly, both would be optimal. Silly gimmicks such as photoshopped class photos and tacky backgrounds isn't what customers want. We want our photos affordable and on-time. Despite being a local company I cannot recommend this business in any way and as a voting member of the PTA highly involved in volunteering with my children's school I will be requesting that we return to Lifetouch next year - again, something I never thought I would say.
