The 19 Best Salads In LA

"Your Order: Istanbul Salad The Istanbul Salad at Dr. Sandwich is the textbook definition of a “meal salad”—it involves the same heaping pile of juicy chicken shawarma you’d get on their standard plate but comes served on a big bed of cucumbers, tomatoes, and shredded cabbage. There’s also smoky roasted eggplant, sweet grilled onions, and a bright lemon vinaigrette cut with the tahini on top. This salad also holds together well in the fridge, which is a key detail because, ultimately, it’s a lot of chicken and cabbage to get through in one sitting. The 24 Best Mediterranean & Middle Eastern Restaurants In LA

"Dr. Sandwich has received various accolades from respectable sources (us). With two locations near each other in Beverly Grove, this kosher Mediterranean spot makes some of LA’s best shawarma, best salads, best falafel, etc. If you asked us for a fast-casual Mediterranean lunch spot, we’d probably send you here. This counter-service spot does staples made with noticeable finesse, like creamy hummus topped with sweet, roasted garlic, thinly pounded chicken schnitzel in chewy sesame baguettes, and falafel pitas with as much cabbage, roasted eggplant, and tahini as humanly possible crammed inside." - sylvio martins, brant cox, nikko duren

The 20 Best Restaurants In Beverly Hills

"Some people go to Sweetgreen twice a week, and others go to Dr. Sandwich twice a week. We’re in the latter camp. This kosher Mediterranean spot has two locations in the same vicinity, and while the newer one is more spacious and even a little glitzy, the original counter-service spot in a strip mall on Olympic is where you’ll find us on many a lunch hour. Choose between shawarma, kebab, schnitzel, sabich, or falafel, and retrofit it however you please on a pita, laffa, baguette, or as a plate. We mix it up, but the best deal is the plate—for under $20 you’ll have enough food for three full meals. " - sylvio martins, arden shore, brant cox, jess basser sanders

Dr. Sandwich Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Some people go to Sweetgreen twice a week, and others go to Dr. Sandwich twice a week. We’re in the latter camp, if that riddle was tricky. We mix it up, but the best deal is the plate - for under $20 you’ll have enough food for three full meals (and we’re known for finishing our food). The hummus here is creamy and unctuous, and you can top it with fresh roasted garlic cloves. Dunk your pita in there, top with carrot, beet, and/or cucumber salad, finish it off with your protein, and you’ve got a healthy, flavor-packed bite capable of turning your whole day around." - Arden Shore

Google
We usually get food from the Beverly Blvd location and love it. Today we got 4 order of shawarma plate from this location. Food was very chewy and let’s not forget how cheap they were with their protein portion. 4 plates was equivalent to 2 plates at the other location.

I ordered the Shawarma Chicken Plate today, but unfortunately, nearly half of the chicken was just cartilage. This made the meal very unpleasant and disappointing. I kindly ask you to pay more attention to food quality and preparation going forward.”

Google
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dr. Sandwich and discovered that the name doesn’t quite do this place justice. This isn’t just a sandwich spot—it’s a full-fledged Israeli restaurant that brings an authentic taste of the Mediterranean to every dish. The pitas, baked fresh in-house, are a true highlight, perfectly complementing the robust, vibrant flavors of the menu. The experience reminded me of cherished culinary moments in Israel, and I can’t help but wish there was a similar gem here in Chicago. If you’re a fan of authentic, thoughtfully prepared Israeli cuisine, I highly recommend a visit to Dr. Sandwich. Enjoy every bite!

Google
Dr Sandwich is a delicious Mediterranean-style restaurant. I recently visited and ordered the beef shawarma pita, and it was amazing! The meat was juicy and flavorful, and the pita bread was warm and fresh. The portions were generous, and the price was very reasonable for the quality of the food. The restaurant's atmosphere was clean and welcoming. I highly recommend Dr Sandwich to anyone looking for an authentic Mediterranean food experience.

Google
Amazing hummus! Smooth, and leans towards tahini flavor more than chickpea. I had the shawarma plate. The prices are high and the portions huge (2 shawarma plates, with tip and 1 drink was $70!!). I think I would prefer smaller portion for smaller price. The homemade pitas are the real rockstar-real bread-soft, warm perfection! The sides and shawarma are mediocre.

Google
Mediterranean restaurant with many ways to enjoy your meal. The service was fine. The person taking the order wasn’t the most friendly, but whatever. Once you order what you want, you wait for your number to be called and you can customize your order with different veggies and some condiments. I got the Chicken Shawarma Laffa. The meat was good - I really enjoyed it. The portion is actually quite big and it’s difficult to finish. In my opinion, even though you get a lot I feel it is on a pricey side - $23 for a sandwich. We also got the kabob (that takes a few more minutes to cook) and the schnitzel. Overall, the quality and taste is good, but it’s a LOT. We came to Dr. Sandwich few years ago and this time it didn’t meet our expectations - maybe just personal taste but it wasn’t as good as we remembered. When we came it wasn’t that crowded (past 1pm).

Google
First, the good: the pita bread is excellent! Soft, fluffy, and up to the task of holding the variety of condiments that come on the pita by default. The sauces, particularly the fenugreek amba and the sḥuq, are welcome additions. They really load the chicken on the pita, and all the other pickled toppings are nice. The problem is, when you strip all these toppings away, the chicken itself doesn’t really have much flavor. It’s savory, and that is pretty much it. Overall the taste is pretty good, but a bit flat. It satiated me, but it didn’t delight me. Dare I say it kind of matches the expectation set by its Beverly Hills strip mall rustic chic ambience. The baguettes look great, but I don’t know how motivated I will be to try it again at the incredible price. Food reviewed: chicken shawarma pita

Google
Dangerous🤮 I attach the receipt of payment, see photo. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with salad and a coke. The chicken was like it was washed with soap and tasted like acid. I thought it was maybe the type of preservation they sometimes put in. baking soda to soften it. the fact is that after 3 hours I felt like throwing up. Very bad feeling, I was at the Seder Sinai and they told me the food was spoiled. Avoid this place if you don't want Go to the hospital

Yelp
I came with my husband to get food, I hear the person serving the food screaming at a customer. Very unprofessional staff. I will not come back. Horrible. I did not see anyone controlling the out of control employee either. This is a family restaurant. SHAME ON THE MANAGEMENT for creating uncomfortable situation for everyone in the restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is horrible. Hummus taste like weird mayo (only way I can explain it), the steak and chicken shawarma taste like they heated up deli meat, cabbage salad had no taste, baba ganoush taste like sour cream this place is just really bad, plain and simple
google avatar

Macky G.

Yelp
My office had previously ordered from here and I loved it. I was excited to have my husband try this place out.... so disappointed. 1. Offputting to see they had two big pots/dishes out in the open, no lids or glass partition to prevent anyone from coughing (or even worse) over them. 2. We ordered two PLATES, beef kabob and ribeye. Cashier failed to mention the ribeye "PLATE" didn't come with any sides.... only three cubes of beef. After waiting more than anticipated, we got the kabob plate and of course had to wait longer for the three cubes of ribeye. I asked for the sides and was informed there were no sides. Would have been nice if cashier would have mentored the ribeye "PLATE" only consisted of three cubes of beef AND NO SIDES. 3. Hummus and tomato/cucumber salad had no flavor whatsoever. 4. Cherry on top was the amount of flies we had to keep away from our food (we sat indoors). So disappointed.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill, the quality of their service and food has changed. The shawarmas are very salty, specially their chicken. The employees behind the counter serving the food act like zombies, arguing and doing their own thing. There are definitely other options with better prices. Very disappointing since it used to be one of my favorite places to dine in or get the food to go.

Yelp
I give 5 stars for the food and 0 stars for the service, the food is great and the veal shawarma is delicious. Regarding the service, a lot of impatience and arrogance, not fun and inviting serving. That's why you gave 3 stars.

Yelp
Dr. Sandwich is a popular fast-casual kosher Israeli food destination. My go-to order is the falafel plate. It is one of the vegan/vegetarian options on the menu. Their falafels are always very flavorful and never dry. You can choose the sides you like. I always get hummus as my dipping sauce for the falafels. I add some tahini and chickpeas in the middle and sprinkle some red seasoning on top. It comes with a few other sides as well to fill up the plate. They also give you a pita. It's a large serving and usually lasts me at least two days. I almost always order take-out here. The ambiance is very casual. I think it's a nice place to dine solo during non-busy times. This is a small restaurant and it can get very crowded and loud during peak hours and on Sundays. Service has been mixed when I've come here. However, there is one guy at the counter who is an absolute doll and always makes my order extra special. I'm always so happy when he's the one preparing my order. Located in a mini mall with parking. However, during peak hours it can be hard to find a space.

Yelp
Amazing food, personable people serving the food, what more can you ask for? Since moving to the valley.. it's a it of a drive..

Yelp
Bottom-Line: A fantastic authentic, Israeli shawarma or falafel sandwich, but you're going to pay a premium from such authenticity. About $20 per each sandwich is a bit on the higher-end of the totem pool. I ordered the shawarma pita sandwich. In typical israeli fashion, each pita order offers a high-degree of customization. Israeli salad, egg-plant, pickled onions, whatever will be made available as it's carried across a cafetaria like make-line. The pita was so incredibly warm and fluffy. Just the way I like it. I don't know if pita comes a la carte, but I believe the owners or whoever made my ordered, gave me a few fries on the side. And for that I was greatly appreciative. Shawarma was succulent, and properly trimmed and cooked in true-middle eastern form. I would submit this to be in the conversation for most authentic israeli pita sandwiches. Can you think of anything else?

Yelp
Sandwich was delicious, I love the pita bread version on any combination, delicious meals.

Yelp
Dr. Sandwich delivers an exceptional Mediterranean dining experience with their creative and tasty sandwiches. Each dish is prepared with care, using fresh, high-quality ingredients that bring out authentic flavors. The menu offers a great variety, and the sandwiches are both hearty and satisfying. The casual atmosphere and attentive service make it an ideal spot for a quick, flavorful meal. Whether you're a fan of classic Mediterranean dishes or looking to try something new, Dr. Sandwich won't disappoint.

Yelp
Very bad service specially workers are very rude and disrespect people and they want charge for what ever you ask even pickle ‍

Yelp
Really bad lunch experience on many levels. This establishment 10 years ago was really great but it is not anymore. A- it's not clean: on the customer side the floor is so greasy that you're literally skidding while standing in line waiting for your sandwich. On the workers side its not any better, its simply not clean and definitely not hygienic. B- Because there is no owner on-site the employees attitude and performance is is really bad, you can tell they are unhappy to be there, non of them had a smile on. C- the worst of all was the fact that when i got back to my office and was ready to eat I've realized that the shawarma was so uncooked it was literally pink. Uncooked chicken can really harm you so the entire dish went to the trash. I hope that the owners of this place read this review and get it corrected.

Yelp
Fantastic Sabich (fried eggplant, cauliflower zucchini) sandwich! Super flavorful. Would have posted a picture of my sandwich but it was woofed down real quick
google avatar

Cassie C.

Yelp
I came here for the first time with coworkers who already love it and I have to say it was super delicious! I've never had such nice, thinly sliced chicken shawarma and it tasted great. The pita was also super fluffy and yummy, and the marinated garlic you can get on top of your hummus is drool-worthy (I'm a big garlic lover). I have to say it is a bit pricey ($22 for a plate) but then again look at the area it's located. The crew were all so nice and they have an efficient ordering system set up - I'd definitely recommend coming here for a delicious, authentic Mediterranean meal.

Dorit W.

Yelp
Raw chicken schnitzel... This needs to be corrected and fast. For the health of the community.

Yelp
We both felt sick all night after eating from here:( Beef Shwarma plate and Falafel plate to split between us. Everything tasted "off". Probably should have just thrown it out. Even the hummus is awful. Tastes like it has a lot of oil in it and not seasoned properly. Falafel is super salty and no hint of cumin. We tried this place when it first opened and didn't go back. Someone told us it was better now. They were wrong!:(
google avatar

Robbie S.

Yelp
Expensive but really yummy. Had the Shwarma Salad and it can be as carby or keto as you'd like! Good for a healthy lunch spot
google avatar

Jacob B.

Yelp
Quality not close to what it once was. I've had Dr. Sandwich's chicken shawarma about a dozen times in the last year. Today I ordered the chicken shawarma plate via Uber Eats. Chicken over cooked and not as tender. It used to be a debate which was better: this or Holy Grill. Holy Grill is much better.
google avatar

Nate D.

Yelp
Delicious food and generous portions. Never disappoints. Clean place. Prices are reasonable for kosher food
google avatar

Almog G.

Yelp
The most disgusting place on earth and I feel bad to say it because it's a Jewish owned but to serve people a raw chicken?! This place should not be allowed to sale food not to talk about the disgusting sandwich they made completely different from description and poor preparation!

Honey H.

Yelp
very pricy & too Expensive $26 for chicken breast !! and when i ask employee can i have other bread he told me No very unprofetional very low Level employee bad customer service Never Go back again
google avatar

RR F.

Yelp
Well, they raised their prices again and the place was full and the schnitzel was delicious. The Food is great and the quality is high. The Service is okay considering how busy they are. The Ambiance is okay. All things considered, even though, I feel the prices are over the top, $20.50 for a schnitzel sandwich to me is overpriced, it's still really good.

peter d.

Yelp
It was the best shwarma ever I had, very nice service .I am thankful for the worker who served me. I recommend if you like shawarma chiken. The best . I can't wait to have one more time.
google avatar

Robert E.

Yelp
Food is great. Attitude of the workers towards customers borders on hostile. I've been here before and will come again until another shawarma option opens nearby. And I'm sure the workers will be happy to see me and other customers leave at that time.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Ordered chicken breast plate for to go. Paid $26 with four side salads came home opened the chicken it was uncooked. This is not acceptable it can get people sick plus what a inconvenience now i have to call or go back middle of night! Never again
google avatar

Mikey M.

Yelp
Insanely expensive. Total tourist trap. Sandwiches are good, but small. I mean the size of your hand small. Restaurant is dirty but what do you expect. I bought two (2!!!) sandwiches and it cost me over $50. I wish I was joking. I thought the sandwiches would be huge at least.. nope, they're small sandwiches that would cost like $2 on the street.
google avatar

Olivia L.

Yelp
So good! Their chicken and shawarma plate are super tasty and also huge serving sizes. A tad bit overpriced, but you get what you pay for!
google avatar

Van G.

Yelp
There's probably a million of Mediterranean restaurants around this neighborhood. Shish kabob here, shawarma there, hummus over here... Literally every block has a place with menus offering something from a Middle Eastern country. Except for Panini Kebob Restaurant, that I love so much for offering alternatives to rice, they are literally all exactly alike. I found Dr sandwich completely randomly because they were one of a few restaurants that were open in the evening of an Easter day. So happy that I did. Because now I'm a complete fan! There are three distinct values that this restaurant is so important to me for: - Food quality - Generosity - Staff friendliness I love it that I always feel welcome and that I will never leave hungry. These guys are never stingy if a customer happens to ask for "just a bit more of that side dish" and the quality of food is above and beyond. I find some sides are a bit too spicy to my own taste though. Thanks!

Bella M.

Yelp
love them!! Dr. Sandwich has great food if your looking for a food food place go to dr. Sandwich

Melissa M.

Yelp
Food is delicious. However, the staff are rude. We had ordered a bunch of food here and at the end of the meal my husband went up and asked for a few pickles for my daughter. Then our other daughter wanted a few pickles. When I approached the counter the worker ignored me even tho I was the only one at the counter. Without making eye contact, he asked "do you need a box"? When I asked him for a few more pickles he got all pissy and said he had just given some to my husband. I explained the situation. He got even more pissy saying he cant be doing this. So even tho we spent close to $100 he got all pissy over about 10 cents in pickles. They DEFINITELY need a refresh in customer service.
google avatar

Miss M.

Yelp
Food was amazing!! The chicken and the hummus were so fresh, as well as the delicious red cabbage. To die for! The service was fine, they don't exactly interact with you. The ambiance was wonderful; the music combined with the people!
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
Good middle eastern food, had the chicken plate w/ a few sides. Definitely large portions and good flavor! Everything seems fresh given the busy restaurant.

Ezi A.

Yelp
I came for the beef shawarma plate - I couldn't eat that , it was so dry and full with hard fat , I return it and they offered the chicken instead , I'm having food poisoning and upset stomach for 3 days - be aware , its not what it is use to be . very disappointing -will not recommend or go there again .
google avatar

J C.

Yelp
It was disappointing to discover that Dr. Sandwich doesn't sell sandwiches!!! I Googled items on their menu to try to decide what else to order because I wanted to try the restaurant close to my employer. I've ordered three different times and ended up not eating what was delivered. Presentation is important. Unseasoned meat in a Pita is my final impression.
google avatar

Sammy X.

Yelp
What a fantastic find located on Olympic boulevard next to doheny in Beverly hills Dr Sandwich is a Mediterranean grill that offers a variety of Middle Eastern options from falafels to kabobs but there best dish has to be the schnitzel. The chicken schnitzel is fantastic I definitely recommend it if you are a fan of fried chicken. This location has free and easy parking which is a find in Beverly hills definitely recommend a visit they also offer delivery which is convenient
google avatar

Kat T.

Yelp
Great tasting food. Terrible customer service. The FIRST TIME I patronized this business and the LAST. One of the items in my order was wrong. After getting home, I realized it and called to rectify the situation. I ordered STEAK KABOBS and received HAMBURGER PATTIES. The person who answered didn't believe that I got the wrong item in my order. Talked to his manager then said, the steak kabob is cut into pieces as if I don't know the difference between a burger patty and a piece of steak. We're in big trouble with the lack of accountability and stupidity of the younger generation to come.
google avatar

Alisson C.

Yelp
The sandwiches are delicious!!! Great Kosher place. Love ordering from where for my team at the office.
google avatar

Adelle R.

Yelp
Really great restaurant, I enjoyed the food so much. Really recommend , Also the service is lovely and quick I usually coming on the weekend for the schnitzel sandwich

Haad M.

Yelp
This place used to be decent, but the portions went down and the price went up. Now it's like 30 bucks for a sandwich which is ridiculous considering other options...dont waste your time here

O G.

Yelp
Big portions. $90 for a family of four for lunch. Food was just okay, nothing spectacular.
google avatar

Inbal P.

Yelp
Still good but $18 for pita shawarma and a grumpy face when you ask fries on the side. That's all I have to say :/

Ben B.

Yelp
I used to love this place but service sucks special the main guy that runs it in the front. I used to go here often before and 8 months ago I went service was amazing with the same guy, following next time I went service sucked i thought maybe he's having a bad day but then again today same thing so I'll probably not go here again. Foods ok and portions are smaller then competitors but if service was better I still like this place better. I used to recommend this place allot to allot of people such a shame to see such bad management and service. I hope it changes for the better. I'd be willing to take this feedback down if I get a private explanation for the experience I had. Maybe they they're under stresss regularly? Or have bad days at work regularly and the one time was a one off experience lol ? Maybe it's personal lol maybe I look ugly and service was good bc I was with a girl the frist time lol ?? Very interested to hear back
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
This used to be my go-to place. They are generous, and their falafels are wonderful. However, two years ago, a falafel was $8, which seems reasonable to me. It is now $14, almost double the price, and quite expensive. A Chicken Shawarma salad in a bowl is $22, which is expensive, basically for fast-food. So the quality of the place has not changed, but the prices are very high now, and it is no longer a place for a reasonably priced quick meal.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Food is good but prices have been increased past the point of return. I used to go here all the time then moved out and when I return the shawarma plate that used to be $19 is now close to $25. Sorry guys, maybe you don't understand inflation. Sure prices need to increase but it's not an opportunity to price gauge. Their prices have Gina up substantially more than any other méditerranéen place dollar for dollar. So it's not the products that cost more but the owners trying to take advantage of their loyal customers. Very sad as I've seen other reviewers also mention this.

נוי מ.

Yelp
It's was very tasty, I ate hala and schnitzel and it was similar to my country Israel. Thank you.

Fariba S.

Yelp
great food. best quality. reasonable. seriously, so delicious. best Mediterranean food ever.

Yelp
Not the bizness my tummy was messed up all day had chicken schnitzel plate.will not repeat

Yelp
Saw this place on Instagram and the sandwiches look really good so we decided to do the drive from South OC to Beverly Hills to give it a try. It was good yes but due to COVID they are not fully open so I don't think we saw their full potential. It's worth trying if you are in the area. The guy preparing the meats for the front line counter people seemed oblivious that words he said were understood by the customers.
