"The name of this confectioner comes from its proprietor — a practicing medical doctor who set out to revamp the candy industry with healthier all-natural dark chocolate. Indulge in blueberry-ancho chile bark or satisfy a sweet tooth with a decadent mug of hot cocoa." - Amy McCarthy, Alaena Hostetter

Dr. Sue's Chocolate - (Grapevine) Located in downtown, this cute little shop offers handmade, organic Dark, Milk and white chocolate. Everything made in house. I stopped by here few times with family and tried great samples before purchasing a few varieties. If you need to purchase something and you want to come back later to pick it up, they offer, “Babysitting” area for your sweet and precious chocolates. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and are able to assist with any questions you may have. I would certainly recommend this place if you’re looking for organic sweet treats without chemicals.

Very good experience, I was looking for a location where I can buy quality dark chocolate during Easter and I found it! Good choice, short list of ingredients, quality product, homemade, yes it's a bit more pricy but this is the price of a qualitative and local work for eating something good for you, instead of additives and more sugar than chocolate in the industrial chocolates. The only thing I can say is I didn't see the prices on everything, but maybe I didn't see it and you can still ask. I value this store and work. Thank you :)

The good news, if you love dark chocolate, this is your place. The bad, it’s not cheap. Everything there is so good, and they will tell you better for you. I’ve given Dr Sue’s chocolates as gift for years. People like it. It gets expensive if you’re also supporting your own chocolate habit. They will provide samples for anything they have, so you’re not stuck with something you don’t like. My favorite—the blueberry ancho chile. Not too sweet; definitely not too hot.

Wow! The kids have summer vacation so to keep them occupied we plan three events each day pulled from a hat so we try new experiences and today one of the activities was chocolate tasting . We just got incredibly lucky... We were going to go to one chocolate shop and just get a bunch of chocolate and try them but it was closed. So we found dr. Sue's which we've been wanting to try. and when we went in there were two ladies behind the counter and we told them what we were doing and how it came about that we got to them and it turns out they are two prior teachers and loved the idea of our self made camp and gave us an educational chocolate tasting. We tried 15 different Belgian chocolates of all various flavors and we Even got a tour of the shop and we got to learn about and see chocolate from being in the pod to making it to a candy bar. Needless to say, every chocolate was absolutely incredible, but I really want to thank both of the ladies that gave us an incredible experience. You have gained lifelong customers not only because the chocolate was ridiculously good, but because you cared enough to give us a day to remember. I cannot recommend this shop enough. They also have a rewards program that is really good and to be honest the prices for the quality that you get is actually incredible.

The chocolate from Dr Sue’s is some of the most perfect, decadent, delicious chocolate I have ever put in my mouth let me tell you. My favorite is the Moonlight Mocha Chocolate Bark (second goes to the cherry pecan bark)… Chef’s kiss. My family and I are from up north, but whenever we visit family down in the area, Dr Sue’s is somewhere we need visit. Within the years I have consumed chocolate from here, their quality hasn’t declined at all. It has remained delicious through and through. Also! They aren’t stingy when it comes to the amount of chocolate that is in a bag. 10/10. Amazing place. Would recommend.

It was recommended to us to stop at Dr. Sue’s Chocolate during our weekend stay in Grapevine. There were so many flavor options to choose from. We purchased the toasted almost and smoke sea salt chocolate bark and the peppermint chocolate bark. Both were delicious!

Google
Dr. Sue's Chocolate boasts AMAZING dark chocolate: made with delicious/better-for-you local ingredients like dried fruit, nuts, honey, and more. I wasn't a huge dark chocolate fan until I tried their chocolate -An excellent selection of chocolates. Plenty of samples so you can find what you want, and customer service was good Don't know anything about chocolate? They are more than happy to educate you. Don't miss this treasure of a store in Downtown Grapevine! You won't regret it!!

Nice to pop in while shopping on Main St in Grapevine. There is wall to wall chocolate- candy, peppermint hot chocolate, & more. I am told curated/ sourced locally with organic ingredients.

Yelp
I had come up to Grapevine Main Street during Texrail's anniversary week where we could ride the train for free. I had heard great things about Dr Sues and made sure to make it a stop on this visit. The staff member we met was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They had samples of all the main flavors they had. Plus they have coco beans which my kid was excited to see the plant where chocolate comes from. My kiddo got a Texas shaped chocolate on a stick, they also had animals and Dinosaurs shaped ones. Which on my next visit I grabbed a dinosaur shaped one for him. I grabbed a cherry pecan and my sister grabbed another flavor that I can't recall what they had. The items my kiddo and I had ended up being extremely delicious! Everything is a dark chocolate which is a favorite in our house. We will for sure come back and visit every time we find ourselves hanging out on Main Street.

Yelp
Love, love this shop! They have the best handmade chocolate around. Everytime we visit The Christmas Capital of Texas, Grapevine, we have to stop here to see what eclectic mixtures of flavors they concocted. I bought some blueberry ancho chili and some of the roasted cocoa nibs...both are amazing! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Chocolate lovers delight. Step into a chilly and tasty shop filled with Belgium chocolates (exclusively) offered in a variety of ways. Samples! She has them and offered up whatever you fancy. Stop in if you're in Grapevine. Grab some goodies for you, your sweetie or kiddos. Chill ambiance to enjoy while you shop.

Yelp
Amazing flavors. We had the cherry pecan and the hazelnut toffee. Both in a dark chocolate base. Excellent flavors. Nice little shop on Main Street in Grapevine

Christy G.

Yelp
This place has the best quality chocolates in downtown Grapevine. It's a tiny store you could easily overlook. It smells amazing as you walk in. There are tiny samples to try throughout the store. It is a bit pricey, but that's to be expected with quality chocolate. The staff were friendly.

Yelp
Parking: Public parking close-by. Otherwise park on side street. The dark Chocolates are addictive, never thought I'd be so hooked on it. The ingredients are carefully selected to compliment one another, all natural and organic. You wouldn't think that finger and fig would go together but somehow you keep returning for more until the bag is GONE. Then you keep eating the Hazelnut and Toasted coconuts instead....also gone. If you're a chocolate-holic be very, very careful ! 1 lbs is around $35 but it's worth the taste and appetite!

Yelp
Beyond impressed is what I was at this store. I was doing a little shopping for my coworkers one who is a chocoholic and wanted to find some unique things. I Came Upon This store on a busy day and ducked in from the Main street. Upon entering I was greeted by one of the most friendly and helpful workers in a store that I have ever encountered. I wished I had gotten his name so that I could recognize him in this review but sadly I did not. I settled Young on a pound of chocolate that was mixed with their top sellers. I also bought several bags of their hot chocolate mixes. And then I rewarded myself with a cup of hot chocolate that they were serving already prepared. Today is Christmas and I am hearing from my coworkers who are telling me they love the chocolate, so I am gonna say it was a hit!

Christina B.

Yelp
Excellent delicious chocolates. Dark with minimal sweetness the right accompaniment with a glass of red wine!

Julianna G.

Yelp
I think about their hot chocolate 365 days of the year, it's so delicious. It can get busy in there, but the hot chocolate is always worth the wait!

Tammie G.

Yelp
Came for the hot chocolate bar today with friends .. It was very good! I will warn you it's rich so don't think the small cup isnt enough not is!! :) I added peppermint marshmallows cocoa and whipped cream. Yum cost is 4.87

Yelp
I was told by some locals that before I left downtown that I had to stop by Dr. Sue's Chocolate. However, I heard "Dr. Suess" so I was expecting something far different than this cute little shop. Everything is hand made in the back and there are lots of samples to choose from. I tried quite a few before selecting a small box of Blueberry-Ancho and a small bar of Hatch Chili Citrus. Great combos both! Staff was great and helpful. It looked like they were filling a lot of mail orders in the back. For artisanal chocolates, I didn't think they were too badly priced.

Jesika D.

Yelp
Stopped in as we walked the streets of Grapevine. A nice young man offered tips on all of the chocolate which is made on site by a two-person team. With the weather being so hot and humid- buying bulk or big pieces of chocolate seemed out of the question. There were no samples and it was pricy to just buy a small amount ($7.00 for quarter pound). We ended up buying two small taster bars which were dark chocolate and enjoyable with a hot cup of coffee. Would recommend smaller pieces available for immediate consumption and samples being passed out. All together though- the young man gave the best customer service he could within his reach.

Yelp
We stopped here this afternoon while walking and shopping Main Street. It had been awhile since we had been to Grapevine and we had not seen this chocolate shop before. I am glad to say that it is a great addition to the Main Street! Walking inside, the room smelled delicious. Different tables were set up with generous slices of each of their house chocolate. From Hatch Chili Citrus to Midnight Mocha, the flavors were dynamite and eclectic. We purchased a few bars for about $8 a piece. The prices weren't cheap, but also not outrageous for local, high quality chocolate. I was also surprised that they had so many samples. Can't wait to come back next time and see what new flavors they will roll out. What a cool find!

Peyton W.

Yelp
I had the best experience at Dr. Sue's Chocolate! My team and I took a super fun crash course on chocolate here. We made three kinds of delicious truffles. The class was informative and fun! We also sampled the treats around the store and learned about how this cute shop came to be. Dr. Sue is so sweet and very passionate. Don't forget to ask how the store gives back to the community!

Chey K.

Yelp
BEST CHOCOLATE EVER! Delicious, rich, strong, perfect. If you want REAL chocolate, this is the place and so worth the price. Cacao from around the world with an artistic chef's taste and nutritionist's mindfulness. The service is exceptionably hospitable in person or on the phone. I spoke with David who was kind, humble, and funny. Open a location in east Dallas please! We need Dr. Sues over here! :)

Erika P.

Yelp
Great chocolate! Unfriendly service. This was our 3rd time going here. The first two times they were very friendly and helpful. This last time we went in which was this afternoon, the lady who was working was rude. No greeting when we walked in. My mother just asked a few questions and she seemed irritated that she was even asking her anything. So the rest of us just walked out and my mom stayed behind to pay for all the chocolate she got. Maybe she was having a bad day but still....She just seemed like she didn't want service us at all. Most likely won't be returning.

Crissy H.

Yelp
What can I say- cute place and their chocolate is very artisan. My must try list Chili citrus- just the right amount of heat with a citrus that comes out at the end Chocolate Espresso- the espresso with the dark cocoa nibs give this a nice balance of espresso flavor that doesn't over power the chocolate Of course the staff is always helpful and the best.....mini samples!!!!

Kimberly M.

Yelp
This is not your normal chocolate shop. This place is only chocolate bark not your normal chocolate candies. This place disappointed me. I guess because I'm not into chocolate bark. There was not many flavors and again this place only sells bark. If your into chocolate bark than I'd try this place out.

Heema N.

Yelp
I walked in and expected everything to just be bitter. They had samples so I tried some, man did they hit the spot! Most of he chocolate was vegan, which worked well for me. The cherry pecan was the sweetest, and my husband tried hatch chili chocolate which he said was amazing if you're into that! The samples are just out so you can try whatever you would like !

Ray S.

Yelp
While walking along Main Street, I was glad that I noticed Dr. Sue's. I love dark chocolate so had to immediately go in for a look. There is a variety of dark chocolate options and samples are offered for just about everything (except the seasonal packaged options). The prices are a bit high, but realize that you are getting a quality product. Dr. Sue was very friendly and answered all our questions, and most importantly, the chocolate was delicious! Well done!

Joe M.

Yelp
First time going into Dr. Sues chocolate shop and sampled the cranberry & orange dark chocolate. Let's just say I am hooked! You have to stop by her shop & let me say the quality is worth it!

Sasha L.

Yelp
My mom and I were walking on Main Street when the smell of Dr. Sue's chocolate caused us to perk up. We had to check it out! The store was clean and the staff was friendly. There were samples everywhere! I'm not a big choc-a-holic, but there was truly something for everyone there. My personal fave was the dark chocolate with coconut. This place is great for gifts or just treating yourself, definitely worth a stop!

Ariele L.

Yelp
I wish I could give this shop more stars! I beg of you to try their hot chocolate flights!

Rachel T.

Yelp
Love this quaint and homey shop in Grapevine. Came in December to look at the lights and decorations and heard about this place online. 4 because the price was a bit much for hot cocoa but it was really good. Excellent quality chocolate. Great assortment of varieties. Customer service is excellent. And the hot cocoa was so yummy and warm! If you have any doubts... let me assure you. This is a place to indulge your little guilty pleasure.

Adam H.

Yelp
I really have never been to a better chocolate shop even in my dreams. I cannot believe how many varieties of chocolate they produce here and offer samples on almost every single one. Come here during the winter and you might find their real hot chocolate made from melted chocolate and milk. It's like nothing you've had before and puts all other hot chocolate to shame. If you are in the DFW area, make a stop here and you will not be disappointed. They have a variety of chocolate for anyone whether you like spicy, sweet, tart, or bitter.

Katie R.

Yelp
WOW I can't wait to visit this place and try more of what they offer. It's on my list for great, local gifts now, too! My sister was in town speaking at a conference in town and was given some of this delicious chocolate as a gift. Luckily she's a great sister and shared with me and we both really loved the creation from Dr. Sue! The back story is very interesting as well and I love the thought that's put into how everything is made (and what's left out)! This is a sweet treat you can feel good about....in moderation of course! :)

Lesley W.

Yelp
Whaaaaaaaaaat? I can't believe more people haven't heard of Dr. Sue's! We came by while hanging out in Grapevine, and were so happy to have stumbled upon this delicious chocolate! First, let's get this straight. You can taste ANYTHING here. Any of the incredible creations. I honestly went a bit wild and kept trying everything and thinking I had found my favorite, just to walk a few feet to find my new favorite! She makes a mean bark, and those were always my favorite. Ginger, cranberries, nuts, and plenty of quality ingredients. Most of the chocolate was dark and vegan. This was a miracle for most of my family, as we try to avoid dairy. I usually don't like dark chocolate that much, but this was some of the best chocolate I've had in my life. I'm not sure what they put in this stuff, but it's worth checking out. It's also a great place to get gifts. They box everything in nice boxes, ready to give to a deserving recipient! If I got this as a present, I'd be happy! :) Especially for those vegans or dairy-free's in your life that deserve some delicious chocolate.

Yelp
I went to my cousin's house for a birthday party, and her brother-in-law brought Dr. Sue's Chocolate. I immediately fell in love. It was a bark with berries, coconut, and nuts. A perfect combination that I love. I also heard Dr. Sue is actually a doctor who just loved making chocolate, which made it all the more impressive. A few weeks later, my cousin invites us to a chocolate-making class, hosted by Dr. Sue herself! Her Grapevine store (first-ever), recently opened, and Dr. Sue has launched classes to learn the basics of chocolate and the art of working with it. I honestly thought the class was actually making chocolate from the bean, but it was about making things from the chocolate you can buy in bars or chips at a Whole Foods or Central Market. We made bark, ganache, truffles and dip. Unfortunately I didn't learn much with that, but there were all these great tips Dr. Sue gave us. We also got to try all the chocolate in the store and it was divine! My favorite was hatch chile citrus and ginger fig bark. Her combinations are excellent! Dr. Sue also cares for what goes into the chocolate and everything is non GMO and organic! Love this place.

Charlotte J.

Yelp
Truly the best chocolate ever. Also a great shopping experience. The store is adorable, and they make all of their chocolate on site. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's all dark chocolate, and it's all very high quality and delicious. They have samples out for every single flavor, and they encourage you to sample all of them. Our favorites were the Blueberry Ancho Chile Bark and the Midnight Mocha Bark. We will absolutely be back, and we'll be looking for Dr. Sue's chocolate in our local grocery stores!

Leigh R.

Yelp
After trying a piece of chocolate while at the Gaylord Texan, I was pleasantly surprised to see Dr Sue's shop in Historic Downtown. Inside there are lots (unlimited, eat as much as your tummy desires LOL) of samples to try and the clerk was kind and friendly. Didn't feel rushed or pressured to buy. I fell in love with their bestseller (cherry pecan dark chocolate) and bought a block for the hubs to try. Their ingredients are all organic, non GMO, gluten free, and pure. The cherry pecan chocolate contains a hint of port wine and ancho chili powder! So cool - and the Texan pecans are a nice touch. Good thing that Dr Sue ships orders within the continental US. I'm a fan!

Karen F.

Yelp
Amazing quality product! My husband and I love downtown Grapevine and happened to stumble upon this great shop. The chocolate is excellent quality and the types (Midnight Mocha) are tasty. I will frequent for gifts and glad to see a great chocolate shop in Gvine.

Annette S.

Yelp
I discovered Dr. Sue's on a whim. I saw the 5 star reviews on Yelp and decided to go check it out. 5 STARS EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! It is an adorable little chocolatier in downtown Grapevine. It's perfect for a weekend stroll or a date pit stop. All their chocolate is non-GMO (hallelujah!) and DELICIOUS! You can sample everything so make sure to try it all and fall in love. I recommend either the flavorful Blueberry Chile and the classic Hazelnut Toffee. I can easily see this place increasing in popularity and clientele. I will definitely be going back!

Laura P.

Yelp
Lovelovelove this shop! I work not far from here and have shopped downtown Grapevine for years, never knowing this place existed. It took a tiny blurb in the Dallas paper to direct me here and I keep coming back. I can see why they finally moved to a spot directly on Main rather than a bit off it. Location, location, location! My first stop in I sampled everything. Twice. Actually I've done that every time I've stopped in! But after all I've tried and loved, the hubby and I are hooked on the Midnight Mocha. Simple, delicious dark chocolate with a bunch of coffee beans. Every ingredient seems to be of the highest quality. I also truly love the orangettes but they're more expensive than the rest of the chocolates. If they weren't I'd buy them again and again. Unfortunately I still have bills to pay. I finally brought hubby in with me on the last visit and he was literally like a kid in a candy store. I was afraid they would finally start charging for the samples. Thankfully he didn't lick the bowls, though I could see in his eyes that he was tempted. Thanks, Dr. Sue....be back as soon as we finish off this latest batch we bought. :)

Shi S.

Yelp
Most amazing chocolate store experience I have ever had. I was blown away by the amount of samples in this store and the warm welcome feeling of the staff. I came in to the store with a few friends that were visiting from Tennessee and I instantly loved the ambiance and quality of the chocolate.

L8de24 L.

Yelp
I was visiting Grapevine and this was the first time I had went over to Main St. I ended up going into the shop not realizing that it was a chocolate shop. Lucky me! The guy that was in there, I'm so sorry I didn't catch his name, was just the nicest person. He told us about the chocolate and Dr. Sue. It was pleasant to go in there, he was so friendly and they have samples out so you can try all the different flavors. I ended buying about four different kinds of chocolate and even tried the cookies they had there. If you are in Grapevine not only should you go to Main St but stop by the shop. I haven't found any place in CA that is that quaint, that friendly and nothing comes close to that chocolate. Maybe next year I will get to meet Dr. Sue

Shayla D.

Yelp
This place has great chocolate! The chocolate is extremely high end tasting! The toasted almond smoked sea salt is my personal favorite:)! I will be a returning customer for sure! Even my hubs mentioned to me that after I made him try a bite after lunch, all he could think about was having some more after dinner!

Yensi R.

Yelp
I loved it..very cozy and the chocolate taste delicious.. It's nice they have little samples to taste..

Daryl H.

Yelp
I don't get it ... One of the most busiest towns in Texas and they close with many people wanting to buy from them. I've never seen a place clear out and lights out so fast by employees. But I did get a "Sorry" when I got there from a 45min trip at 6:05 pm. Product is good , just plan to arrive earlier than 6:00 pm

Masaleen F.

Yelp
Delicious dark chocolate, warm and friendly employees, generous samples. A must-visit spot while strolling down the quaint downtown Grapevine main street.

Easley M.

Yelp
Awesome chocolates. Bought some dark dark and some hatch chili citrus. Very good. Neat place in the middle of town.

Lyndlee B.

Yelp
Honestly, the best Chocolate I have ever eaten. Midnight Mocha is out of this world. I live in California and I always make a stop when I get in town to visit my family.

C. L. C.

Yelp
Great place to get locally made chocolate much of it with Texas sourced ingredients.
