An old SF favorite, family ran by award winning bartender Derrick Li and his wife Vicky, they offer great service and are always friendly and very attentive. Their bar offers a wide whiskey selection and rotating specialty cocktails (definitely try out the Kouma). Food wise I highly recommend the gyu don, beef skewers, and dragon horse roll. They also have karaoke available and a private room for events.

Let me start with the positives - the drinks were really, really good. We were big fans of the Onion Cream Cheese and Seaweed Mustard cocktails, both of which sound a bit bizarre, but had amazing flavor profiles. We also tried the Tomato Jalapeño, Guava Thyme, Smoke Umami, and Tea N Strawberry, all of which were very solid. The scallop nigiri was really fresh and the karaage & gyudon were fragrant and perfectly cooked. The hamachi collar was tender, but had some bitter parts (maybe from burnt bits that stuck onto the outside from the grill?), but overall, was pretty decent. My biggest gripe was with the service. It was a Monday night and wasn’t terribly crowded when we arrived. Drinks came out within 20-30 minutes, which is a bit slow but acceptable, but the first dish (gyudon) didn’t come out until 45 minutes after ordering. The 2 pieces of scallop nigiri, which didn’t even require any cooking, took a full hour. We also ordered monkfish liver and hamachi collar and checked with the waitstaff 2 times on the status of our order. We waited 1.5 hours for these two dishes, at which point, they had run out of the monkfish and said they couldn’t serve it to us (but didn’t notify us until then) and only just started cooking the hamachi. We ended up subbing the missing monkfish for karaage because we were starving. The portion sizes for each were also quite small and we had 4 people, so it was difficult to fill up on enough food for it to qualify as a proper dinner. We had planned to order more, but the food was coming out so slowly that we decided to just eat more elsewhere. The waitstaff was kind and apologetic when we mentioned how long it was taking, but the long wait times soured our experience. Such a shame when the food and drinks themselves were quite good.

Came here on a Tuesday night with my coworkers without a reservation. Great for large groups and it was walking distance from the grand Hyatt on Stockton. Very walkable and didn't feel dangerous at night. We had 12 people total. Food was good. Overall less than 800 for 12 people which is not bad. They had no issues with separating the alcohol bill for each person.

My friend and I were looking for a place to catch up over a bite to eat and a drink. Happened upon Dragon Horse. Cozy. Clean. Karaoke. Zucchinis skewers were really surprising - so good! Also had chicken skewers and a delicious roll. And a signature cocktail from the full bar. Great service. Definitely will go back.

Great experience. I had the miso, chiefs selection Nigiri, and a Miso and Peppercorn cocktail. The fish was fresh and delicious, and the service was fantastic.

A new sushi bar to the city with minimal items but a large (15) selection of cocktails that were good. As for the service, it was bad. 25 mins waiting at the table where it was not busy even on a Friday night and I had to get up and talk to a server. After placing the order it was another 30 mins before I even got my cocktail and warm sake, not hot but warm washed down sake . Not great, overall it was very basic rolls at nearly $20 per roll with bad service. I recommend another bar that has some experience working with customers and avoid this spot for your next night out.

Incredibly delicious food and cocktails! The team here is passionate about quality and will gladly walk you through their craft cocktail list and how they invest in the individual ingredients for a well rounded drink. Food is ON POINT! Everything was wonderful and we're headed back to our new neighborhood favorite first thing! Open for 6 months, try out this new neighborhood gem!

Mediocre food. A good late night spot if everything else closes down. The best item is chicken skewers. Skip the gyoza which is over fried and cauliflower which is overcooked. Hamachi kama and ramen are decent but not as good as a good Japanese spot. Didn't care for the beef tongue skewer. People must be coming here for the late night drinks vs food.

Been here twice to rent the private back room and once to rent out the bar area. But, full disclosure, never been here for a regular seated table service. Bottom line: Absolutely recommend Dragon Horse for tasty food and a good hangout! Staff is prompt, attentive, fast, and friendly. Always happy to answer questions, accomodate requests, and give recommendations. Never had a wrong order or bad item come out, and this is accounting for 20+ item rounds of orders. Liquor selection is top-notch and includes many relatively hard to find whiskeys. Cocktails are inventive, tasty, and generously-poured with Asian flavors like baijiu, pandan, and more. Pro-tip: The private back room can be rented out for a minimum spend, without additional cost for the rental itself. Minimum food+drink spend was around $1000 last time I checked in early summer 2024? Room can accomodate ~30-40 people (rough guess) and includes a full-on karaoke system like you'd find in the Korean karaoke places. Great deal if you can pull together a decently large group for food+drinks - the karaoke is essentially free.

Omakase 8 pieces, great selection, fish fresh, good garnishes. Jalepeno hamachi, tasty sauce, pairs well with hamachi. Rainbow horse roll, nice size, tasty, good.

Visited on a Saturday around 10pm, only a few guests seated with plenty of room, easy to walk in. They do have a private room with karaoke which had a party, so that space seems more reservation based. Drink: T.P. Gimlet - good, light and refreshing, slightly tart and sweet with a savory finish, very well balanced, didn't pick up much apple or banana in flavor mostly lime and citrus Service was good, friendly and prompt. Was served water upon being seated, the server and bartender checked in regularly and the check came quickly when requested. Overall a nice spot to grab a cocktail, the menu was pretty unique, would come back to try more. Food looked pretty good as well but didn't get to try any on this occasion.

My friends and I came here for dinner & karaoke, and the food, drink, and vibes were great! Ambience was on point too! They played good music throughout the place, and the service was amazing!! They provide tons of water for karaoke and for us to stay hydrated ofcourse. I ordered the soft shell crab ramen & seaweed mustard drink, and had a tasting of some of the other stuff...which I'm not sure which one it is on the menu since my other friend ordered it for the group haha! I would definitely come back here for food, drinks, and vibes!

The food is absolutely great. If you can make it out to this place for the variety of food and drinks it's so worth it. Tons of fresh sushi options and also meats to go with rice. Large drink menu and the service is great. Super nice and welcoming staff. They even have karaoke and heard it can get busy and tons of fun with people coming. Would definitely recommend

This place was located kinda not near anything interesting but to my surprise the food was actually very delicious! We were a big party and ordered a little bit of everything to try. My favorites were probably the chicken wings hands down, they were crispy but not too battered. The nigiris with salmon belly also were bomb. Did not enjoy the beef tongue skewers they were chewy. The pork belly was good. The meatballs and gyoza were okay. They had a banana panda drink that tasted like dessert. I had one specific drink that when I got it, the glass was half empty which was a bummer because drinks are expensive you know.

My group of friends have been to this location a few times in the past under a different name. The only thing difference is that I've noticed is they've added ceiling decorations. On our recent visit we made a reservation at 6:30pm on a Saturday for 5. This was not necessary because the whole place was pretty much empty and I'm not sure why. The staffs were friendly and attentive. They have so many options for cocktails with some having unusual ingredients such as the Onion Cream Cheese - charred onion with strawberry cream cheese and brandy. Some people may like it and some people may not. I personally didn't like it but another person in my group did. I also got to try the Wasabi Bean drink which was better but found it light in alcohol. The wasabi didn't hit me as hard as I thought. The Smoke Unami drink was strong though but the "smoke" effect was underwhelming. Guava Thyme was my favorite but also found it light. At $16 each I was hoping for a bit more alcohol. For food we ordered a bunch to share. The baby back ribs normally come in 4 pcs but they were able to accommodate us and made it 5 pcs. The nigiris here tasted fresh and I would come back for it. Our table did order 6 x salmon belly nigiris and an 8pcs nigiri omakase. I'm a bit disappointed that in one of the 8pcs was another salmon belly. This was chef's choice but I guess there was more than 1 chef who didn't pay attention. The fried food was just okay. Nothing really stood out for me. I'll stick to the nigiris.

Food was great. Got a Dragon Horse roll and a Gyudon. Both were brought out fast and tasted great. Also got the Tea and Strawberry drink, very tasty and me and my partner enjoyed it. The interior is beautiful and I saw they even have karaoke in the back! Will be back to try more and maybe do karaoke as well.

Super affordable happy hour menu, perfectly cooked food, and original great tasting drinks!

Mediocre food. Came here with high expectations and was disappointed. Best dish was the chicken skewer. The hamachi kama was decent. Ramen was so so. The rest were overcooked (cauliflower) or over fried (gyoza). I didn't like the beef tongue skewer ( they need some of the traditional Japanese seasoning to make this better).

Overall, I loooved the beef tongue skewers and the 5-piece nigiri omakase plate. I thought the rolls overall were okay; the rainbow horse roll's assorted sashimi on top was too stringy. The drinks though were insanely good. They had a special pop up lunar new year cocktail menu and all the drinks were so unique, fun, and delicious! I liked how chill the overall vibe of the place was, and our waiter was also very patient with us since we were there for 3 hours slowly ordering and chatting. He was great!

Review update: Haha I tried all the cocktails on the new menu! Don't be weirded out by the names, the cocktails are still amazing. It has little snacks on top of all of them now which is so cute. My personal favorites: Seaweed mustard, it may sound weird but it's a sweet and interesting drink, the ladies will like it. Golden beet and dill, it's hard to describe the taste and not for everyone, it taste like a healthy veggie drink, the taste grows on you but if you hate healthy tasting drinks you can avoid this one. Guava and thyme, my favorite from this new menu. Refreshing kind of drink, I can keep this one coming. I don't remember the rest as i only took sips from my friends drinks...but everything was delicious, that's what I like about this place. Can't wait for another new menu to come.

Interior and ambience: 9/10 Food: 6.5/10 Drink: 9/10 Overall: 8/10 Nestled at the intersection of an Izakaya and a speakeasy bar, this establishment's unique concept fills a void in SF's late-night dining scene. Despite my appreciation for the concept, the drinks overshadowed the food. The Paitan noodle earned a 6/10; it was passable, but the soup was overly salty, and the noodles lacked texture--room for improvement here. The vegetable and shrimp tempura, however, deserve a solid 9/10 recommendation. The grilled fish received a 6.5/10 rating. While the taste was satisfactory, the small portion size and abundance of bones left it lacking in my opinion. Popcorn chicken, rated at 6.5/10, showed promise with well-sized, crispy chicken. Yet, it fell short due to blandness--marinating and seasoning before frying could elevate this dish. For a delightful fruity and sweet cocktail experience, I highly recommend tropical ice cream cocktail in the Little Pig Cup, a perfect 10/10, even though the specific name escapes my memory.

I loved blind pig and was so sad that they closed down but was so excited to hear that the same owners opened up dragon horse. The venue itself is super spacious and is a good mix of bar vibes and restaurant vibes. The servers are so sweet and attentive! The drinks are so creative and I love how they incorporate Asian culture in menu! I would definitely bring a group of friends and come back!

Cocktails were good, food was OK. The two drinks I had were original, delicious, and interesting. The wasabi bean had a very nice smoky and savory balance and the bourbon miso one (forget the name) was also quite enjoyable. The atmosphere was OK. It was quite empty for a Saturday evening which perhaps hurt it a bit. The main dining room is surprisingly large and open. Service was good. Friendly, attentive, well informed. Food was a bit of a mixed experience. To start, I don't think the menu was super exciting. They have some basic sushi, some larger hot plates, some fried items, some yakitori items, and some small sides. I would have liked to see a bit more novelty and originality on the dishes and for it to also be more composed around the izakaya experience. On the positive side, food arrived fresh, hot, and was generally tasty and satisfying. The hamachi belly and salmon belly nigiri hit the spot. The skewers were well cooked and well seasoned. The beef tongue in particular was quite nice. The misses: cucumber salad was on the bland and underseasoned side. Karaage chicken wasn't really Karaage, but instead Taiwanese-style fried chicken. While hot and crispy, it was on the dry and stringy side. Not a bad choice for some interesting drinks and some bites, but I think it could be better.

Restaurant was beautiful! A total vibe. Came here on a Friday night with no reservation and no wait time. Definitely a cute date night spot. Food was great, but weren't amazing... Started with some warm edamame and went in on the drinks. Tried a couple recommended drinks by our server he was really nice. -Kumamoto sunshine -Very easy to drink light gotta lick the salt for that added effect -Smoke umami-More bold but lightened because of the vanilla butter you can smell and taste it -Kagoshima to Oita- easy to drink has a bit of a kick it's really good -Hot and sour - easy to drink not what you expect you smell the jalapeños but it's very light -Heaven and earth and dragon flame required fire!! has a Smokey herbal smell and had a sour taste so different. Overall a great place for drinks but didn't get a chance to eat there since we had dinner plans across the street. I definitely don't mind coming back to try their food and omaksae.

Phenomenal find honestly! I am so glad I found this gem. I visited this place twice on a Saturday night once for a date with my husband and once with my friend. This place is the perfect place where you can sip delicious and refreshing cocktails and have a great conversation. The ambience was so simple yet very minimal and artistic. The servers gave us some amazing recommendations and they were so friendly, they really took care of us and this place has one of the most humble staff in the city. Me and my husband tried the Flaming Dragon cocktail and first of all I loved the presentation, it reminded me of Harry Potter and we all love Harry Potter. Such a Royal looking drink and it was a strong one, but it tasted great and was very well balanced. The next cocktail we had was Kouma cocktail which was so refreshing with a great flavour of cucumber and peppermint. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and I would come back for this one on a hot summer day. Overall, this place is a 5 on 5 for me because the service, ambience and cocktails were on point. Even the food looked appetising and would love to try it when I come here next. Would highly recommend this place for a date night and a great time.

Went for Dinner Food - 3/5. Beef skewers were on the chewy side from being a bit overcooked. I enjoyed the shishito pepper as an accompaniment as it livened up the rather dull beef flavor. Pork belly was cut into a nice thickness with a good amount of char. Bites were rich with the sauce balancing out its flavor. Salmon avocado roll was middle of the road in both taste and size. Service - 3/5. While I understand that people in sales positions have to perform their duty, the used-car-salesman tactic of the server rubbed me the wrong way. The dragon box special wasn't on the menu and when asked about it the server went on a charade of "I'll ask the kitchen, just for YOU!", "Good news, they can accommodate it for YOU!" and other sales tactic nonsense that made my eyes roll, especially because he wouldn't tell me the price until asked directly about it multiple times. After that, service was fine. Value - 3/5. Most items are a la carte and on the pricier side being in the mid 10s and above range for small appetizers. Fabulous find! Went here for a quiet evening of cocktails and conversations with a friend - ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Who knew this plain-looking restaurant with minimalist Japanese decor served such delicious cocktails and appetizers? The place was full, but quiet, which made conversation easy. The service was quick and the waiter never interrupted our conversation, but was always very accessible for us to order the next rounds. First I tried the Flaming Dragon cocktail. I loved the flavor of Yuzu and Coconut Oolong. The best part was that the cocktail was very strong without the lingering potent taste or smell of alcohol. I also loved the goblet they served it in, which actually had a dragon carved into it! #Harry Potter Vibes Next, I ordered the Kouma cocktail. It was incredibly refreshing with flavors of cucumber, peppermint, lemon and ginger. Its after-taste had just the right amount of sweetness mixed with citrus. Perfect summer cocktail! For appetizers, I ordered the Agedashi Tofu. It had a simple clean Japanese flavor profile, not too oily, and very filling. It was the perfect alongside the strong cocktails I was having. Lastly, the place was super affordable!! I'd definitely go here again.

Cozy little spot with the bar tucked in the back. Came for drinks only on a Friday night and their drink combos are so interesting! I would recommend coming just to try some of the drink combos TBH! The bourbon miso drink is crazy it actually tastes like a cold alcohol miso soup lol!

Just a 10 minute walk from the Moscone center, it is a nice late night sushi and sake place. Place is decorated like a night dinner vibe. It gives me an Osaka vibes. Service was ok. We had 30 people and we understand it can be difficult. Our group had the preset menu. Chicken skewers were perfectly grilled and beef gyoza was crunchy and deep fried. Nigiri sampler was fresh but similiar to other sushi places. Menu said tempura but we given sushi rolls which was decent. Matcha chesse cake with rasberry and whipped cream had the right amount of sweetness.

This cocktail bar has a nice upscale vibe to it when you first walk in. The area is dimmed but not too dark which is nice while you're enjoying your drinks. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The drinks were awesome! The old fashion tasted delicious and had all the hints and spices that you'd expect. The Long Island was delicious as well and was definitely a sleeper in my opinion.

Fun late night place to eat! Definitely pricey and a bit loud, but the staff were very nice. The service was a bit slow and the food was pretty good!! It seemed a bit understaffed so the food was slow to come out and it took forever for a host to greet me. The mushroom gyoza was the stand out to me...they were absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the dragon horse roll as well. I felt like the salmon avocado and rainbow roll were okay, nothing particularly special or stand out. The drinks were good too! Given the price point, this is definitely more of a special occasion type place but it is very pretty inside.

What a gem! It's hard to find an open restaurant after 9pm here, this place closes at 1am! Amazing! Night owls like me appreciate it. It seems small from the outside but once you enter, it's pretty big. It has different seating areas and the decor is on point. Love the lights. I thought it was cool the waiter asked us our IDs. Made me feel young again haha. Drinks: -Mogura. Refreshing. I really liked it. -Shochu Harmony. Delicious, not very sweet. Food: -Salmon avocado tartare. Wow. I could eat 3 orders only of this. Very tasty!! Recommend!! -Salmon avocado roll -Dragon horse roll -Tempura mix -Edamame -Beef Gyoza. Crispy, wasn't spicy. Thank you for that! Recommend!! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. No spicy and no cilantro. So happy! *crying* They have cute plates and tiny vase for soy sauce. The details. Definitely a great place to comeback!

Found this place on Yelp. Was so happy I did!!! Loved the atmosphere which was not your usual sterile modern room. Two of us got and split the Gome tuna, Dragon roll, and Salmon avocado tartare. Everything was amazing! The salmon avocado tartare was a bit too spicy for me so I only had one. The third person got a chicken dish he enjoyed.

The food and the sake were both stellar! We had a tough time getting service a couple times but when we got back in touch with them, they were crazy helpful. Really cool vibe inside with nice decor and clean bathrooms. If you like sushi definitely give them a try!

There is a dearth of late night food options in San Francisco that don't involve burgers for burritos. Dragon Horse is taking up the cause with late night Japanese food options to couple with their smooth cocktails along Folsom street. Located in an area between union square, Yerba buena and SOMA, the restaurant has ample seating and food until 1am at the latest. Large amount of street parking nearby, although probably best for a brisk walk from main BART or MUNI light rail lines or rideshare there. Food is delicious and encompass greatest hits from typical Japanese fare. Meaning some common donburi, simple nigiri, and other appetizers. Biggest draw here would be the cocktails which pair perfectly with the food or alone on a night starter/ender. Service is quick and courteous, they also have some seasonal drinks to enjoy for the winter season

Attended a large group/party event here for a private spirits tasting. Got to taste some of the food offered by the restaurant and even a speciality Baijiu cocktail that was so, so delicious. I also particularly loved the chicken karaage I tasted that night, so crispy yet juicy and moist. Very cool and modern interior as well as Christmas themed decorations. Will absolutely come back to try the sushi and other menu items + cocktails!

Came here on a Wednesday night, around 530. It wasn't too full at this time. Got a great spot by the window with booth seats. The ambiance is great. Love the vibe there. Love the decorations they have around the room. The food was delicious! The drinks too; so many options! I'm always a sucker for the karaage and they made it very well! Everything was fresh and very tasty. I appreciated them being able accommodate a member in our party's food allergen/sensitivity. They were aware of it and made sure the food was good to be eaten by all. The drinks were delicious! Both that I had were from their BlindPig side of their menu - Kumamoto's Sunshine & Greenland Pig. Both equally delicious. Was tempted to try all their drinks, but one can only handle so much liquor. They even had a No ABV drink called the Jade Emperor and that was very refreshing! Highly recommend that one if you're looking for something without alcohol. They have a private room that can accommodate large parties up to 40 people! Def an option for a larger group/event. That room also has karaoke, so definitely sing your hearts out! Vicky was our server and she was very kind and helpful. Definitely would come back. Definitely going to try more of their drinks!

Really disappointed in the food. Nothing outstanding at all. Their specialty drinks were expensive and mostly odd combinations. Mustard. Cream cheese. We tried a bunch. None were very good. The sushi was lackluster and the rolls were poorly constructed. The Salmon skin roll was good, but was so poorly rolled you could not pick it up. The roasted mackerel collar was the best thing we had. Properly seasoned and cooked. Dinner for 4 with drinks and a fair amount of food was over $400. You'd be better off spending your food dollars elsewhere.

Same place, new name I guess. The drinks are all amazing and the staff is friendly. It's a bit on the pricy side (FYI). Sushi is fresh and the skewers are flavorful. Great for any occasion. Best of all, they have wasabi tako!

Came here with a group of friends to hangout for the start of the Friday night. We were seated immediately with a reservation at 8pm. The waitress who assisted us to the table was very kind and welcoming. Loved the lighting and interior design of the restaurant side. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share with the party. From the appetizers, we had Cauliflower Tempura, Tori Kara Age and Gyu Shi Ta Beef Tongue. I personally liked the crisp of the cauliflower and the salt pepper yuzu of beef tongue; however, the Kara Age could be skipped. Truffle Albacore Tuna Tataki was really good with just a hint of truffle, Seared Salmon Tataki's texture was good, Jalapeno Hamachi was probably our table favorite. We also got the Dragon House and White Dragon Roll while pairing with some sake on the side. Main reason why this is a 2* review is because service was a huge let down.. Our server was nice and I can see that he was really trying to put in the effort to making our party feel welcomed with the small talks but our orders were just all mixed up and chaotic.. we received dishes from other tables, we had double the same dish when we only ordered one, several missed dishes that we actually ordered, and dishes rolled out with a lot of wait time because our orders were literally forgotten. We pretty much sat down for nearly 2 hours to order pizza after our $370 meal for party of 5. While the food is not bad.. I'd recommend coming here for the bar and cocktails to get the night started because honestly, it was a buzzkill start to our Friday night.

I came here on a Saturday evening for a group dinner with friends. This is sort of an upscale hole in the wall (it's mostly surrounded by apartment buildings) so unless you go looking for it or walk right past it, you might not know it was a restaurant! I loved the interior decor and lighting, the service was professional and very gracious The food itself was decent. I got the Yakitory (super awesome), the chicken karage (a little bit more cripsy/slightly burnt than I expected, but still worth), and the truffle albacore tuna tataki (loved this one). For drinks I grabbed a Smoke Umame (salty vanilla butter Kavalan) and a bijou highball (forgot its menu item name). The smoke umame wasn't too heavy and I would definitely get it again. The bijou highball was delicious! Tasted sweet and went down more like juice, almost as if it didn't have alcohol. I asked for an individual check and saw they already added the service charge into it, so that was perfect. 5/5 everything. Will definitely come back!

The drinks here are well mixed and uniquely served (see pig glass). My friend and I ordered the dragon roll and hamachi, which was surprisingly filling enough. The fish is fresh, pretty supple. I wish there was something else served with the hamachi that made it standout, perhaps rebrand the lettuce as wraps. I appreciated their letting us stay nearly 2 hours even after we were done eating. Sound really travels and it was hard to hear each other with a large crowd, which is probably why I felt exhausted after coming here.

FOOD: Good/Great ​ DRINKS: AMAZING SERVICE: Huge disappointment tl;dr: our server missed our orders, asked if we ordered with him (??), reordered but still missed one, and the receipt came as the missing orders shown on the receipt twice, he was unprofessional and touched my friend and me. Paid $390 total (with tips) for the food. After the chaos, the manager offered a 10% discount for the next time. When I told my friend that I heard the cocktails were amazing here (via Yelp), her face lit up. I knew how much she love craft cocktails, so Dragon Horse was the perfect place to celebrate her bachelorette party dinner in San Francisco. We were a group of 6 and dined here last Saturday. After we sat down, I realized I have been to this location in November 2021. Each of us got one cocktail: My bride-to-be friend is a huge fan of whiskey, she ordered Smoke Umami and really enjoys the flavor. She ordered a second drink, Heaven and Earth, and was blown away by the drink as well. Two other girls ordered Highball but weren't too hyped: Cognac Highball has strawberry and Toki Highball has matcha, but they didn't taste any. I had Kisetsu and it was good. Bride-to-be's Smoke Umami was a half-size pour of my drink--our glasses are similar in size. She was a little bit sad with the pour but I guess that's what crafted cocktails are for. 2 girl friends ordered Bermuda Triangle. One drink arrived with the other 4, and one was left out. We checked with the server twice, then her drink finally came... after the food was served. Soon after the cocktails were served, we then ordered the food: Tori Kara Age, Albacore Tuna Tataki, Wasabi Tako, Panko Shrimp, Seafood Ramen, Tori Paitan Ramen, 3 Beef Skewers (2 in one order), 3 Gyu Shita Skewers (2 in one order), Crazy Spider Roll, Dragon Horse Roll. Beef skewers and Gyu Shita skewers were served first, those were really tasty. Then Tori Kara Age and Panko Shrimp were next, I thought the taste of Tori Kara Age was a mixture of Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken and Japanese Chicken Karaage ("Tori" means "Bird" in Japanese) and all of us really liked it. The ramens were interesting for us, my friends said Seafood Ramen tasted better than Tori Ramen. Those look identical so we weren't sure which one was which at first, but when we saw pieces of salmon in one of the bowls, we immediately knew that was Seafood Ramen. I don't have any strong feelings for ramen, so I probably won't recommend getting ramen here unless you really want to, after all, there are a lot of ramen restaurants in the Bay Area I'd rather visit. After the ramen, we were still waiting for 4 dishes: Albacore Tuna Tataki, Wasabi Tako, Crazy Spider Roll, and Dragon Horse Roll. We asked the server to check our orders. Twice. And the second time, when he came to check with us... Server: How's the food? How are you doing? Me: We are still waiting for 4 dishes Server: Oh? Did you order with me? Me: Yeah I saw you writing the orders on the notepad :) Server: Ahh okay let me check He came back and said the system had a problem--blah blah blah--he was sorry and he will fix this. Fine. So we let him know we'd like to get Albacore Tuna Tataki, Wasabi Tako, Crazy Spider Roll, and Dragon Horse Roll. Meanwhile, we were waiting for food, and a server started to clean up our table, we had to stop her to take our plates and chopsticks away when she grabbed one set from us, and politely told her that we were still waiting for food. My friend asked for a clean plate and a pair of chopsticks since hers were taken away. Those never came so she just grabbed the clean ones from the table (no guests) next to us. Finally, the missing dishes were served: Wasabi Tako, Crazy Spider Roll, and Dragon Horse Roll... wait, where is Albacore Tuna Tataki?! We asked the server again, and after 15 mins, we decided let's just give up. So we told another server to cancel that dish and we want to get the check. Patiently waiting... for another 15 mins... asked multiple servers to get our check and at this point, we just want to leave. I got the check and guess what? We were double charged with Wasabi Tako, Crazy Spider Roll, Dragon Horse Roll, and the Albacore Tuna Tataki that never show up! I knew I cannot trust our server, who knows how long is it going to take and my girlfriend was complaining that our server touched her shoulder twice while talking to us, which made her really uncomfortable. The same server touched my shoulder when I asked him about the missing orders. I also saw him touch a new customer's back when they came in. Weird. I walked straight to the bartender who seemed to be the manager here and told him everything. He quickly updated the check and apologized for the inconvenience. He offered a 10% discount for the next time. 20% gratitude was included (by default) in the check. Honestly, we were not very happy with the experience but it was that one server's fault so it was not fair for the whole house.

I saw this place on social media and it looked amazing, I finally got to stop by to try with my partner and our friend. I was really looking forward to having some sushi since I've been craving it. I wanted to get a drink as well but their cocktail menu was not that extensive, so the waiter graciously made a drink for me to try. It was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. The service was not the best, the waiter was friendly but forgot the main roll that I ordered. The missed food item was taken off our final bill which was appreciated. We also ordered the chicken karrage which was the favorite dish at our table, the only issue was that the portion was very small compared to the price. The food was alright, there was nothing too special, just seemed like any other restaurant. That being said, there is room for improvement since the space is great for large parties and since they are open late, it would be a great place for small bites. I don't think I would come back to this place. We spent around $200 including tip and we still unfortunately left the restaurant hungry. The prices compared to the portion sizes you get.. not worth it in my opinion.

Ahh, I was craving sushi and seeing that this is under the same ownership as Sushi Hon... I decided to give it a try since it was new! Interior is modern and dimly lit. A lot of seating, good for parties. Service was pretty bad. The waiter or bartender or whoever took our order completely forgot our main roll- the dragon horse roll. Seemed like a sweet person but really was just all over the place. Fortunately, the order was placed and then removed from the bill but only after we had to remind them about it. The best dish would be the karrage. It wasn't anything special. Fish was fresh. I got the toro sashimi (a special) and then we also got a spicy tuna roll, some nigiris and some sort of salmon tataki. Salmon wasn't bad but it just tasted like fish. There was no other flavor profile from the sauce or garnishes. Drinks were ok, we thought they were nothing special either. The total bill was like 218 including tip. I thought it was a bit much and probably wouldn't venture back here. Now, I like that they are open until 1am, late night drunk sushi might give it a better rating.

I came to Dragon Horse with a group of people for our friend's birthday party in their private room in the back. To what was supposed to be a joyous celebration for my friend, turned into one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in the city. To begin, the management communicated prior to the event that corkage fees were $25 per bottle and that was totally fine. But when we arrived, they tried to charge $200 per bottle and pulled out a whole separate list of corkage fees that were never brought to our attention before. Additionally, some people had some personal plastic water bottles with water with them and they told us they were going to have to charge $200 per water bottle as well - which is insane. The way that they handled this situation was incredibly unprofessional and rubbed everyone the wrong way. We then, put all of the alcohol and half empty water bottles back into our vehicle. However, one of the workers named Vicky did not believe us and we caught her digging through multiple people's personal bags and our friend's birthday gifts. I saw her crawling under my table and asked her why she's digging through our stuff and taking pictures, but she ignored me. When it came to the food, everyone was able to order normally and the food came out sporadically (which I completely understand) since it was a large party. However, at the end of the night, some people never received what they ordered and others had to wait 1 hour+ for their food to arrive. Food quality: Japanese restaurant and izakaya vibes. It was not anything special to me, it was subpar at best. The best thing I had was maybe the hamachi nigiri and if that's done wrong, there's bigger problems. Other people ordered their rainbow roll and everyone know a rainbow roll is supposed to be topped with a variety of fish, but the ones received were mostly avocado on top and the teeniest sliver of fish. The only benefit to the private party room was that there was a karaoke machine and set up that we would have loved to use, but they told us that we were not allowed to use it until everyone had finished eating. But how can we finish our meal with such long wait times and with so many items that were never brought out? At the end of the night, our bill was around $1500 and we discovered later that we were overcharged by $185. When trying to resolve the issue a few days later, their solution was to continually comment on my friend's appearance and smile and offering a dinner on them. Why would we ever want to go back? The absolute worst part of the experience was dealing with the management and lack of professionalism. My friend (Jennie, in the photos attached) was communicating with them the entire time and the way that they treat customers and handle situations is completely unacceptable. I would not recommend giving Dragon Horse any business, large party or not.

Me and my friend came here on a whim after eating dinner. My friend came across this place on yelp when she was looking for something else and was intrigued by the Dragon Cup (and eventually Dragon Chalice) that they served their drinks in. Dragon Horse is a sushi & cocktail bar that just recently opened. Getting to Dragon Horse is kind of an adventure, especially if you're going at night. The place is located on Folsom, so it can be kind of hard to find parking if you're driving around there. We were lucky to find some street parking not too far from the place but it definitely took a little while. Luckily, the place is open really late, so you might have a better chance of finding parking at night. The ambiance in there is really neat. A review mentioned that its a gorgeous place and it really is. The interior is really nice to look at with some art drawings (of Dragons of course) and some a nice Japanese style its going for that it definitely executes very well. The place is super clean as well. It may be due to the fact that there isn't a whole lot of traffic there right now, but I am impressed by how nice everything looked. They also played some nice music too, which wasn't too loud so I was able to talk to my friend pretty easily. We only had one drink called the Mogura (which contains gin). The drink was honestly really good and I could definitely see myself getting another one. I'm glad that it wasn't too sweet either, to avoid any hangover that it could've caused (though there wasn't really a lot of liquor in there to begin with). Can't really say much about the food though since we didn't have any of it, but maybe we'll go back there someday to try it. I definitely want to try the drink thats in that Dragon Chalice that I saw in the yelp photos along with all the other drinks someday. Overall, I'm giving this place 4 stars (pending the food) for now. Perhaps someday, I'll be able to give it a more proper rating, but I definitely recommend coming here if you wanna try their drinks and for the unique experience!

A neighborhood gem cocktail bar/sushi restaurant in SOMA/Folsom area that serves unique cocktails and delicious japanese inspired dishes. Fantastic for large or small groups and it's open late. Drinks: the standout of Dragon Horse are their specialty cocktails. I've been to many cocktail bars in SF and this is one of the only places that have unique fat washed and milk washed drinks (iyky) and at a somewhat reasonable price point. I highly recommended the Kagoshima To Oita and the Smoke Umami. The Kagoshima is served as a clear liquid, but it is full of savory flavors. The best way to describe it is that it tastes almost like a Bloody Mary but masquerades as a glass of water. The Smoke Umami is served in a dramatic way with smoke ... if you like single malt whisky then give this one a try. The fat wash lends a buttery mouthfeel to the already smooth Kavalan whiskey. The sweetness and butteriness lingers for a little bit, but the smoke keeps it balanced. All in all this drink was fantastic, felt like I grew a beard after this drink. Food: Ive tried their various skewers and various rolls. All of which are good, but nothing was super special. The Beef tongue was probably my favorite (can't go wrong with that) and the dragon horse roll, which is served lit up Dragon horse is a fabulous neighborhood cocktail bar and izakaya. I'll definitely be back for late night eats and their milk and fat washed cocktails. If you're ever in the Folsom area, stop by and give them a try!

Dragon Horse was a blast! We came here for a groomsmen meetup and we ate and drank to our hearts' content. Cold sake, hot sake, draft beers, cocktails, and a round of tequila shots! Some of the guys ordered Balvenie 12 and some other fancy whiskeys. We ordered so many appetizers and sushi rolls that we barely finished the last remaining bites. Though it was a bit pricy, it was for a special occasion and we had so much fun!

Very creative food and cocktails. Surprisingly un-busy for the quality of what you get (and the ratings here on Yelp).

Very good late night option! We stopped here after the game around 9 pm and they weren't super busy at all. We ordered the dragon roll, ramen and taro nigiri. The food came out fresh and sooo flavorful! Very cozy ambience inside with plenty of seating!

Hidden gem in the city! Food is delicious - the seafood was really fresh. We got the hotate and amberjack nigiri and the spicy tuna and rainbow roll (my personal favorite). Really friendly and quick service and super cute dining area.
