NOLA Event Will Give Free Pound of Crawfish to Vaccine Recipients | Eater New Orleans

"I note that Dragon’s Den, a French Quarter bar and music venue, was where the vaccine-incentive trend began earlier this month with a shot-for-shot event." - Clair Lorell

Must visit place in Krakow. I walked from old town to Dragon statue, it was a good walk, highly suggested. The dragon spits fire every few minutes, I lost the track of the exact interval. The castle is a beautiful place and this one adds the charm, totally worth the time. The climate was too cold but that was definitely the best thing. Walk and reach, you will enjoy it the most

The Dragon Statue was great. I didn't know it existed. I was in Krakow for four days. On the first day I was strolling just doing sightseeing and I passed the statue. I wanted to take a picture, but there were so many tour groups around that getting an image without random people in it was a mission. I noticed the black mouth of the dragon, but didn't think anything of it at that stage. So I walked on. The next day I noticed small little dragon statues all over the city and I decided to go on a dragon hunting quest. It was amazing. The things you see in the city while searching for the little dragons are extraordinary. Then I read on the internet that the big dragon statue is fire breathing and that fire comes out of its mouth. So I went back and waited for the fire. It comes out about once every 3 - 4 minutes. But waiting was worth it. That along with the little dragons kept me entertained for the duration of my stay there.

Smok Wawelski is one of Kraków’s most iconic and instantly recognizable landmarks, located at the foot of Wawel Hill along the Vistula River. The statue represents the legendary Wawel Dragon and has become a familiar stop for anyone walking through this historic area. What makes it particularly distinctive is the occasional burst of real fire, which adds an unexpected and playful element to the experience and draws attention even from a distance. The surrounding area feels lively yet well integrated into the broader castle surroundings, making the stop feel natural rather than isolated. Its position near the river paths makes it easy to include during a longer walk, whether coming from the castle grounds or following the Vistula boulevards. Even without waiting for the fire moment, the statue remains a recognizable point of reference within the city’s landscape. A small but memorable landmark that combines local legend, history and the everyday rhythm of Kraków.

The Wawel Dragon. Great expectations, but it looks a bit poor. Every 10 minutes or so, the dragon breathes fire. The problem is that it breathes fire shortly and without warning. It should last 5 seconds longer with additional sound effects. Then it would be completely enjoyable.

Panoramic point of view under the Wawel Castle with the amazing dragon statue that spit fire each five minute. There are no tickets to buy.

One of the most famous and visited attractions in Krakow is a dragon that breathes fire from its mouth every five minutes. Very evocative and entertaining, it's certainly a unique attraction that isn't always seen. In front of the statue is the Vistula River, which offers a unique view of the city, and above the statue rise the walls of Wawel Castle. Access to the statue is free, with no need to buy a ticket or make a reservation, as the statue is located next to the pedestrian path adjacent to the river.

We were told by a taxi driver avout this, so walked down to have a look. A lot of people gathered round with cameras ready to catch the 🔥. After around 45 mins we decided it wasn't going to happen and gave up waiting. I'm not sure if it was working or not that day, but something web searches said every 10 to 15 mins, or maybe every 30 mins in winter, but we didn't see it. This is a much loved installation in Krakow, so worth a visit whether you see it breathing fire or not. Close to the stars walk, so other bits to see in the area whilst visiting.

Interesting point to stop by if you are in the area. The fire breathing lasts only for about 6 seconds after waiting for about 6-8 minutes! Initially thought we had to pay to see the dragon if you are visiting the Wawel Castle but know that you are paying the fee for visiting the dragon den and not the dragon itself 🐉
