Highlights

Welcome to the foodie cafe here on Mt Hood! We are a locally sourced restaurant, with 98% of all our vegetables and berries coming from our owner's home garden! All of our baked goods are baked here, batch by batch with one mixer. That means all our cinnamon rolls, scones, brownies, buns, rolls and loaves of bread themselves are fresh and in constant rotation!! Our service is provided by locals to Mt Hood and Portland. Whether you're from here, or just passing through, our goal is to be "your" personal cafe. The one you'll return to time and time again. The reason: humble attentive service and locally sourced food at a fair price. We're the Dragonfly Cafe.

"Located within the Mt. Hood Village Campground and RV Resort, the Dragonfly is likely the area’s best option for breakfast, whether it’s a pile of house-made biscuits drenched in sausage gravy or the house-made oatmeal bread French toast. The bakery offers gargantuan cinnamon rolls and supplies the restaurant with breads." - Levi Rogers

Yelp
Best Huevos Rancheros and Bloody Mary I have had in Oregon. Ingredients are creative and delicious. Rori, owner/manager, serves up a spicy breakfast and equally spicy, interesting conversation. She is a treat. Really enjoyed the whole experience. Going tomorrow morning for oatmeal French Toast. Can't wait!

Yelp
Stopped in on a Friday afternoon for a bite to eat and some caffeine. The cafe is in a bigger building, and while it's decorated with stuff, it felt kitschy. There weren't any other customers there, which surprised me since I figured plenty of people were heading up the mountain for the holiday weekend. The staff person was friendly, but we were bummed to find out they didn't have coffee drinks like lattes. So we just got a regular coffee. They also used swiss miss powder for the kids' hot chocolates, so it just didn't feel like a very local/quality place to me. We tried a cinnamon roll and it was ok...more on the bready side and seemed like it was at least a day old. I'm glad we finally tried Dragonfly, but I won't feel compelled to return.

Yelp
This place was so cozy and wonderful. For those that love Gilmore Girls, the owners name is Rori! (She spells it that way) she was so sweet and ironically hasn't seen Gilmore Girls. Haha All I had to eat was cinnamon rolls and coffee but both were good! I wish I had had more time to stop in and relax in there, it's totally a place I would come set up and drink coffee and chill for awhile.

Yelp
Friendly and welcoming service. Clean, spacious and quiet restaurant. My southwest omelet was super tasty. My partner's eggs Benedict was served with a thick toast instead of English muffin. Unsure why...maybe the kitchen ran out?

Christopher W.

Yelp
Delicious Prime Rib Dinner, Friday n Saturday nights. Great home cooked style meal. Bakery rolls n Breads are delicious. Rori Rocks!

Kathleen B.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Rory makes everything herself. Sweet oat bread - best bread you will ever eat. Cinnamon French toast is a must try. Do yourself a favor and stop in here! You will be so glad you did!

Yelp
Poor service, there was something wrong about servers, they were down some servers or something and had someone filling in, this person forgot our order multiple times, was over an hour and half to get food, was wild. Food was fine, over priced for what it is. Wish there were other options in the area. The server did comp us the meal, so that's why gets 2 stars. We will never try this place again.

Jamie A.

Yelp
Such a quant place! I had the biscuits and sausage gravy, hash browns and scrambled eggs. The biscuits are a cornbread style and were good. But the gravy and hash browns stole my taste buds!!! The poached eggs and thick cut ham are legit and were perfectly cooked. The hollandaise took third place because it wasn't homemade. This place is Worth the wait and the portions are huge!

Samantha F.

Yelp
The service was incredible. The food was mediocre however the hash browns were SO good. The bacon was $6, I got 4 pieces all which were burnt and very dry, not really edible. Was overpriced compared to the quality of food presented. But seriously, the woman working was super nice!

Russel C.

Yelp
We've been here a couple of times and both times the service was friendly and the food was great. Their bread is so good, I need to plan ahead so that I can buy a loaf to bring home. The breakfast wrap is easily big enough to split, and was delicious. I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. The French toast sticks on the kids menu should be offered with ice cream and whipped cream, they are so good. Order them for the kid, secretly looking forward to finishing them. Only reason I am dropping a star is the inconsistent hours, I understand it's hard to keep staff when it is dead slow...just wish there was an easy way to find out if they had closed early before getting there.

Lesha L.

Yelp
Cute cafe but awful service and the food is even worse. Came at just before 1 on a Monday and it was about 70% full and the one server working was completely overwhelmed. At closing, they advised they were locking the doors and if we wanted to leave, we had to ask for the door to be unlocked. Pretty sure that's illegal. Don't recommend. Super clean and stocked bathroom gets them 2 stars.

Brian B.

Yelp
My Wife and I split the Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. The Hollandaise sauce was the perfect topping for the ham and homemade bread.

Mia C.

Yelp
Their service is great, food is good, and it's the loveliest environment when you're looking for that cozy lazy Sunday morning breakfast when you're on a little mountain getaway :)

Mike T.

Yelp
Good low key good. We take take out from here many times a winter. Cinnamon rolls are huge. Straight up diner food. Not a mind blowing experience, but 100 times better than a Denny's.

Makenzie A.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick take out order. We had previously looked at the menu in the car so knew what we wanted, when we went in and ordered we were told they don't have those items on the menu and was shown a different menu with higher prices then online. We just ordered the biscuits and gravy. It was okay. When my husband went back inside to get the order, he was handed the box and the lady immediately turned away. He asked for utensils and was given a metal fork and knife. Not sure if they were out of plastic utensil's but she wasn't very friendly. Biscuits were decent, gravy needed salt and pepper - kinda bland. Overall okay experience, when your in these areas sometimes you don't have many choices.

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Food is OK. It's a little clumsy and sloppy and expensive for what it is. The place changes staff pretty often, so it's not super-consistent.

Ken R.

Yelp
Fantastic place with cute decor. Very friendly with great breakfast. Prices were lower than expected for location

Arianna P.

Yelp
Food is pretty good! Server was taking care of the whole cafe so she wasn't the most attentive but that wasn't much of a bother. Food took a really long time to get out but again they seemed short staffed so it is what it is. The restaurant was really cute inside and overall it was a cool place to visit!

Rna W.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my quick breakfast here on a Tuesday morning. Ordered a coffee and a Greek Frittata with a side of HOMEMADE sourdough. The sourdough was so delicious. I wish I ordered an extra side to go. The Greek Frittata was very good as well. Filled with a ton of spinach and artichoke hearts and topped with feta and sundried tomatoes.

Maria C.

Yelp
Driving out of Mt Hood with Friends and decided to stop in. OMG! Delicious food and freshly made upon ordering. Wonderful and friendly service. Thank You Rori for your delicious meals. The Chicken Fried Steak and your House made Bread French Toast were Amazing! It's a must stop next time we're in town. Thanks for all the caring attention received by you and your staff.

Daryl B.

Yelp
*** CLOSES AT 2PM*** We showed up at 140pm thinking there was enough time to order takeout, they unfortunately close at 3pm but did everything to accommodate us. Excellent customer service, we're able to make our food and we're a delight. Great food! We ordered the BLT and a cheeseburger with a veggie patty. **The bakery is owned by the same person, as well and the Bakery is Fabulous.

Joshua S.

Yelp
My whole group loved this place. The food and coffee were great and the service was extremely welcoming. Try the toast made with their homemade oat bread and the massive breakfast wrap

April V.

Yelp
Gray potatoes and nasty customer service are two reasons why my family and I will NEVER be back. My sister found almost an entire egg shell in her eggs. The potatoes were gray! My breakfast burrito with no meat contained a piece of bacon. My sister ordered French toast and they literally just gave her a piece of bread (not dipped in egg or anything) because they were out of French toast. The problem was that the server failed to mention the changes to our order and then had a horrible attitude when we complained about the egg shells and the gray potatoes. We seriously had all 3 bitchy servers at our table and not a single person had a solution. All they could say is that the kitchen is just making the food this way and they are not in control over it. They did not charge us for our meal. We would have refused to pay if they tried. Stay away from here. These women do not want to serve you. Every single table in this tiny place was unhappy.

Joseph F.

Yelp
Very nice staff and the food was excellent! She has chicken fried steak and the gravy was great. I had 2x2x2. Scrambled eggs bacon and pancake. Everything was great tasting and enough food to take home for lunch. DecAf tasted good also. Fun experience and really nice people.

Malika C.

Yelp
We LOVE Dragonfly! We're locals and come here often. My husband adores their pancakes, I'm pretty sure they mix some magic in those babies. I love their chicken fried steak, burgers, omelets and house made sourdough bread. Their GRAVY. OMG. Definitely heavenly deliciousness utilizing those drippings from their prime rib. Mt Hood Roasters coffee and the GLORIOUS happiness knowing your meal was made with love. Bad ass Bloody Mary's too. To the other reviewers that stated the service was slow...Ummmmmm food made from scratch takes longer than it takes a plastic clown to burp up your McGriddle. Get over it and slow down to mountain life pace or stay off our mountain!!

Jen F.

Yelp
Oh, I really felt for these servers.  My friend and I came by for brunch last Sunday and got the distinct feeling we were in the weeds with them.  From what I could tell, there were 3 servers on duty.  Our server was warm and friendly, but inaccurate, forgetting my toast and mixing up my friend's drink order. When I arrived there was a large party ahead of me, and the woman who approached them was visibly frustrated.  She was not rude, but I felt like an imposition as I was directed to my seat. I had Eggs Florentine, which is supposed to mean that eggs are poached (i.e. a runny center) but they were overdone. What puzzled me was that for the plating, the eggs were sliced open, revealing the fact that they were overdone, yet they were put before me with no comment. Still, they were tasty, and filling.  My friend had Eggs Benedict and did have 2 nicely poached eggs on her dish.   The fruit salad was fresh and good quality, though I had to claim it like I was at an auction house. Each time a dish came out, the food was auctioned. I really don't care for that approach, unless it's a pick up/take away situation. I know there's not a huge variety of dining options in the area, and I like the small, homey approach of this cafe, so I hope these kinks are worked out before the next time I stop by.

Yelp
We waited a hour to get our food. While other customers that came in a half hour after us was getting their food. It wasn't busy. I asked to get it in a to go box so we could leave. The food must have been someone else's order. What a shoot show

Uma K.

Yelp
We need to acknowledge that living in the midst of a pandemic is challenging, especially for small businesses and restaurants. However experience with Dragonfly is beyond comprehension. We waited an additional 30mins from when they said the order would be ready. Cut to when we opened the boxes, to our disappointment one order was missing. We called to enquire and was told that they had it prepared but forgot to put it in our bag. So we had to drive to their place again to pick up the rest of the order. There was a discrepancy in the prices on their website and what was on the receipt, the difference of which the hostess returned via cash (on our first trip) and she refunded the entire bill amount when we went back next to pick up the missing item. The breaking point was when we saw that one pancake was burnt and so were all the toasts.. they tasted bitter and the blueberry pancake was hardly cooked that we could see the batter. Poached eggs definitely didnt look poached! The hostess seemed to be apologetic for all the delay and confusion as they were short of a chef but giving uncooked or burnt food is sadly unacceptable

Yelp
We stay often at Mt. Hood RV and resort. This place WAS our go-to breakfast joint. However, that changed this morning, 2/21/21. We entered the restaurant around 11:15AM. As soon as we entered, we were yelled at from across the restaurant and behind the cashier counter, "we're full"! Dumbfounded by her lack of customer service and pleasantry, we looked at each other and left. Instead, she could of easily and politely let us know the restaurant was full, and provide us with further details - wait list, approx. how long, etc. and let us determine if we wanted to wait. Not only did she show how un-pleasant she was to us, but to others who witnessed it in the establishment. The issue here is, this lady is ALWAYS snatchy. ALWAYS. We always looked past it, and hoped every time we would come to eat that we would get the other waitress who is always sweet. My advice, re-evaluate your staff. This is a huge disappointment for those wanting to bring business to your restaurant and who frequent the establishment. Other than that, you have great homemade bread. But, that won't keep us coming back.

Yelp
Loved this place. Good food good service and a cute little place to stop and grab some breakfast. The cinnamon rolls were amazing!

Tawni B.

Yelp
Stopped by after a night of celebrating on the mountain and had the best service and best food we've had in a long time. This place is what dreams are made of. Will most definitely be back!

Karin H.

Yelp
Based on Yelp reviews, we stopped in here on our way to stay at the Resort at the Mountain. We were both pretty hungry and looking forward to an amazing breakfast. Did we satisfy our hunger? Yes. Was it amazing? Good, but not oooh aaah. I had the southwest omelet, mostly because I had never had pulled pork in an omelet before. It was good, but I would have done something other than salsa over the top. It kind of fought the bbq flavor of the pulled pork rather than enhancing it. The has browns were super greasy, I get that they probably get a lot of people in for breakfast looking to ease the symptoms from the night before, but these were in beyond hangover remedy greasy. The toast, though, was really good. My husband had the eggs benedict. Quite possibly his favorite thing to order for breakfast and when I asked how it was I got an okay as a response. The food was okay, the service was, good, but we probably wouldn't rush to go back.

Wade N.

Yelp
We return to this restaurant and hopes of having another fine meal. We were disappointed with our experience. Obviously a very different chef. The food was prepared differently (not as good), plated differently and different portion sizes Service was extremely slow. We were in the restaurant for 30 minutes before they took our order. The restaurant was not busy, we were one of only four tables occupied. I do not know if we will give this another try or not.

Amanda H.

Yelp
Absolutely great food and good service. The atmosphere was fine and inviting very colorful and eclectic. The staff was super friendly and helpful! There Is a great playground in the same parking lot where are the kids got to burn off some energy while we waited for our table it worked out so perfect!

Kendra C.

Yelp
We enjoy this place for breakfast. One of the best chicken fried steak and eggs Benedict around. Generous portions. The bloody Mary's are awesome! Would highly recommend.

Miranda H.

Yelp
The food and service were absolutely amazing. We were only here three days and we decided to come back for seconds because we loved it so much. The service here is wonderful and there's a lovely small town feel about the place. The FOOD is what I'm particularly crazy for. I'm from the south originally so I know good biscuits and gravy when I have it. Other than Louisiana, I have not had better biscuits and gravy than from this place. Make sure to get the sourdough toast on the side! They make a decent Bloody Mary too

Cristina J.

Yelp
Chicken fried steak was delicious and the homemade biscuits and gravy were amazing. Coffee was spot on and that's important lol

Talisa M.

Yelp
During my travels, I always get something I wouldn't normally eat back home. So what did I order you might ask? The SOUTHWEST OMELETTE. And BOY let me tell you. It was miraculous! Our server was nice and attentive. I highly recommend this place...and that omelette.

Alexis V.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Have to start with the customer service because it was amazing even though they were swamped inside and we were seated outside. When it comes to the food this is hands down one of the best breakfasts I've had in Oregon! We had a nice view of the mountains behind us since we were seated outside and they are dog friendly. The biscuits were made fresh, the coffee was freshly roasted and AMAZING! Their gravy was delicious, eggs cooked perfectly. My vegan wife was able to have a delicious hash and ate everything! Definitely our go-to place from now on when we're going to Trillium, Detroit Lake ir Clear Lake!

Christy A.

Yelp
I wish they could blame Covid or short staff for this review. The food being served is way below par, I'm not talking speed or service. I ordered a very simple BLT add avocado, what I received was not what I was hoping for. The bread was dry and hard, too thickly cut for a sandwich. One slice of tomato on the entire sandwich and the bacon was not even warm. The fries where very under cooked and soggy. Also orders an appetizer that was way over fried, but hot. The staff seems overwhelmed and genuinely not interested in quality or service. I'm guessing their customer base is people staying in the park that are desperate for a meal. Save your money and time, eat a granola bar instead.

Christopher P.

Yelp
Great place to stop on the way back to Portland after camping at Mt Hood. It's got nice selections, good quality food, a friendly staff, and outdoor dog-friendly seating! We will make this place a regular stop!

Kristy W.

Yelp
Very nice cafe off of the highway. The food was really good. Homemade toast, and jelly. The gravy for the chicken fried steak is house-made. Very delicious. I felt bad because our server was short staffed today. He was by himself, and he started to get slammed. I don't think this is typical from what I understand. I would come back next time I am in the area.

Keston O.

Yelp
Wasn't expecting too much considering the location and the decor... it really is a country cafe ... BUT all I have to say is HOLY HECK that was the best Prime Rib I have ever had !!! No joke! The mashed potatoes and even the brocoli were so good... I never eat my brocoli by the way. My partner said her French Dip and fries were very good too. Super impressive chef! Wowza what a nice surprise.

William E.

Yelp
We we're visiting Oregon from St Louis and had breakfast here our first morning. The food is amazing and the place is so welcoming and peaceful. My grandmother used to make biscuits from scratch using 50 year old sour dough starter. Their biscuits and gravy were the closest thing I've had to grandma's biscuits in 20 years. And they were easily the best breakfast potatoes we have ever had. My wife and I both cleaned our plates, which is impressive considering the large amount of food. Oh and I should mention that they bake all their own bread from scratch and make their own jam (1200 jars this year alone I believe the owner said). So if you're in the area, this is the place to go for breakfast. I'm sure lunch is great also.

Howling J.

Yelp
Stopped by because it said 'bakery.' I'd call it a Bisquick bakery. Terrible cinnamon roles. They looked terrible but we gave them a chance as they were bucks each and there was nothing else in the shoebox sized bakery case. Think Ozark cafe bakery . Bleck!

Kristen M.

Yelp
I wish I could tell you how the food was, but after 40 minutes waiting for my $15 veggie omelet, the waitress asked if I wanted my money back because they hadn't even started it. Also, they charged me a take out fee... it's not like I chose takeout, it's my only choice. #covid. They did refund my money and gave me a gift certificate for next time. I'm sorry dragonfly cafe, there probably won't be a next time.

Charlotte S.

Yelp
The loss of star is sadly due to service . The food was awesome , easy parking and easy to find. This place has both breakfast and lunch choices . Prices are reasonable and has lots of choices along with fresh made jam to go along with your toast . The server sadly looked like she was probably strung out on something and seemed to be all over the place at once with a not busy restaurant so hopefully she has help on busier days . We didn't get checked on or offered more to drink along with waiting a long time for our check . But the rest was good

Franco C.

Yelp
I like to find the best breakfast when I am traveling and this place does it right. Home-baked goods! Say no more. I had the Greek frittata breakfast which was healthy and delicious. But then I saw their ridiculous looking cinnamon rolls. Meg, my delightful server, heated it for me and then slathered it with frosting. So much for healthy but I'm quite excited. This is gonna be great on my drive to Bend. Thank you Meg!

Kim B.

Yelp
Excellent breakfasts. Love the family type atmosphere. I've seen local customers jump in and help with coffee or clearing tables when they're busy. Always enjoy this place.

Vi E.

Yelp
Quite frankly the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had in my life. Don't forget to grab one for a treat.
