The Best Oyster Restaurants in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Drago’s is the original home of chargrilled oysters — it opened in 1969, but owner Tommy Cvitanovich first introduced the future staple in 1993 — a concoction of garlic, butter, and herbs brushed on creamy, salty Gulf oysters, topped with a mix of Parmesan and Romano cheese, and thrown on a hot grill until they bubble. A perfect bite (or slurp) of food." - Beth D’Addono

I sat by the bar here for LSU family weekend and Rae and Andrea helped me and were great! Now I came about an hour before closing but my oysters were good and my fish shrimp and grits were 10/10. Whenever I come back to LSU and BR ill be back!

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Drago’s in Baton Rouge. I used to go when I lived in Gonzales. They by far have the best chargrilled oysters of any restaurant. I highly recommend them. The service is always great and the atmosphere is great! When I was younger my parents always took us to the one in New Orleans and I have the best memories of eating the chargrilled oysters! 🦪

Very friendly staff, we drove in from San Antonio and got there 1/2 hour before close. We told them we could take the food to go, and they said we would do no such thing. The grilled oysters were delicious, and the steak and fries were seasoned well and cooked right. The alligator tail was good also . The Crab cake was the only thing, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Highly recommended.

Charbroiled oysters - best ever! Love love love oysters! Alligator tacos with sauce were so so delicious. Crème Brûlée might have been the best I’ve ever had. All of the staff were super friendly and I so appreciated all they did & said to make me feel welcome! I ordered the other two things for dinner tomorrow. I have no doubt they will be delicious……do not hesitate to eat here ;)

Aaron was our sever, and he was a champion! Had a great personality enjoyed being there. He made my first time there great! As far as the food, we had an appetizer of the charbroiled oysters and wow, those things are delicious! Very flavorful. The best I’ve personally had. 3 of the others ordered the Trio, it had steak with a gravy on it, lobster, and their Mac and cheese. One buddy enjoyed the gravy on the steak and the other would’ve rather had it without it. I believe they liked the lobster but weren’t blown away by it, and they all loved the Mac n Cheese. Although I didn’t try their plates the steaks did look cooked as they ordered it. I got the Burger, it was really good! Double stack meat, and had some drago’s sauce on it I really enjoyed it. The fries were really good and seasoned too! I’m adding the pics of what I ate and the outside of it, oh and the outside had these gorgeous plants too! Overall I enjoyed it and would go back!

The chargrilled oysters were delicious and they were reasonably priced, unlike a lot of other restaurants on their oysters. And they give a lot of crabmeat and shrimp in their seafood pasta. I sat in the bar area and it was a nice atmosphere and spacious. I enjoyed myself and the staff was very friendly.

Nice restaurant open, clean and you can see the cooks putting in work.. The appetizers were fast and hot. Our waitress Halie was super nice. The onion ring batter was a little soft , the gumbo was great and the Cajun tuna aoili was a nice combination.. There was a nice vinaigrette over the arugula w / cucumbers pieces . I had the no turf and surf. The tuna was a little overcooks but the crab on top was delightful. The crawfish Mac and cheese was a treat for the taste buds. And the fried shrimp were lightly battered and tasted fresh. Also we had the seafood pasta was very rich, for those lactose friends be careful. Great place to eat at in Baton Rouge

Enjoyed our meal. Thank you Halie for great service. Fresh plump tasting Oysters and great broiled Red Fish. What shame ti's location is closing due to lease, will have to find them in New Orleans!
