12 Great Places for Oysters in Marin

"It’s difficult to tell a tale of Marin oysters and seafood culture without tipping over into coastal Sonoma where many boats harbor and offload their goods. This restaurant inside Bodega Bay Lodge has gorgeous views over the bay, and the full lunch and dinner menus are available at both it and the adjacent fireside lounge. A platter of chilled oysters with Champagne mignonette and grilled lemon feels celebratory with a bottle of local bubbles from Schramsberg. Baked oysters are plumped up with chorizo and Estero Gold cheese from nearby Valley Ford Cheese & Creamery. Is it already time to watch the sun go down?" - Christina Mueller

Wow!! This hidden gem is a wonderful find! Took my boy Brey to Dillon Beach and then here for brunch. The roads in the area are dicey- on the level of Hwy 1 but worth it. I had the BEST Eggs Benedict of my life!! Seriously the potatoes were cooked exactly how I like crispy on the outside soft inside- nothing soggy or mushy. The bearnaise was perfect, I love when they stick to traditional English muffins and ham- both excellent! Egg poached perfectly. I fear I am now ruined for any other eggs Benny!! In fact a place I subsequently went and ordered used brioche bread - which soaked up all the good flavors and left w w a mouthful of bread!! Thank you for what will likely be the Eggs Benedict that all future EB will be compared with!! Phenomenal!

Absolutely amazing experience at Drake’s Restaurant in Bodega Bay! The food was delicious—we ordered the halibut, and it was cooked perfectly. My daughter had a salad with apple juice, and even the apple juice was really, really good (and super cute, too!). We definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. The atmosphere was great, and the food was worth every bite. Don’t miss out on the halibut!

We made reservations for their earliest dinner at 5pm and they accommodated with helping us push it out 30minutes. Our server was, Kelsey, and she was super friendly and helpful. We arrived with our baby and was able to choose a booth to sit at so we can sit next to her and feed her too. We had the Hamachi, baked oysters, black cod, mussels with noodles, and a peach mocktail. The drink was a little on the sweeter end but the ice melting helped dilute it. My favorite were the chewy noodles with the mussels and the crispy exterior of the cod with corn sauce. We also ordered the artisan bread (comes freshly warm) with yummy seaweed butter. There’s a beautiful view by the windows too and lots of seating outside with a fire pit to relax at if you’re there for drinks. We also love the convenience of it next to the lodge we were staying at.

I was a bit hesitant to try this place out due to some of the mixed reviews, but it was an incredible dinner experience! Beautiful coastal views and outstanding service from the restaurant staff. My daughter’s “butter noodles” were even delicious. Highly recommend the clams with chorizo and the pork chop mains.

I had a cucumber salad for starters. It was drenched in oil, the herbs added a little taste. The black rice bowl, was again very oily and very bland, there definitely needed to be some spices. The pickled mushrooms were nice. The only interaction we had with the waiter was: can I take your plates? He didn't ask why I barely touched the black rice bowl. Stunning view though

Was so excited to join my family for a wonderful dinner this past Tuesday. Or reservations were at 7pm We arrived at 630pm sat at the bar and ordered our drinks. Water was brought to the table. At 7 they came to get us to take us to our table. Oh the drinks we ordered we had not received. Get to our table sat away from any vie. They again took our drink order and our food order. We sat and watched people who got their after us eat and leave. We were a party of 5. At 830 we asked where our drinks were and if we could possibly get some bread. At 8:45 we got our first drinks and bread our food came out at 8:55pm. I had ordered the artichoke and shrimp starter there was 2 rice bowls and 2 halibut. I love fine dining and spending time . We could have stayed in Sonoma and got better everything. I probably will not be back.

This restaurant was definitely the lowest point of my stay at Bodega Bay. How it has such a high star rating, does not make sense to me. I strongly recommend skipping this restaurant. The experience started off shaky. There is not enough parking for the amount of patrons this restaurant can service. We were seated by the window which had excellent views of the bay. Hence the three stars for atmosphere. My first dish was the soup of the day, New England Clam Chowder. It did taste pretty good, not the best one I have ever had but good. My husband outside of getting the wrong order at first, his baked clams were good. After glancing around the room we noticed that people were provided with bread. We never got bread nor asked if we wanted some. The main course…oh the main course. The positive: the sauce for the scallops was delicious. The scallops could of been cooked better but most of the plate was edible. Now the very not so positive: The ribeye steak was suppose to be cooked medium rare and it was tartare, had no flavor and I had to send it back. A manager stopped by our table and told us a round of drinks would be on the house for the inconvenience. We were grateful. The return of the steak, which took a while, was still not cooked properly. Now it was on the rare side but at least edible. So instead of sending it back I just ate most of it. The fingerling potatoes were bland, the pickled onions did not go with the meal. The fried onions were stale. I put a lot of salt on them and it did not help. This was a $56 steak!!! Not worth it. The dessert was good. I had the Pavlova. Avoid this restaurant!!!

Google
Our table was by the window, so we had a beautiful view of the bay. Scarlet, our waitress did a great job of pacing our meals so that we could thoroughly enjoy our cocktails before dinner arrived. Both dishes, the pork chop and halibut were divine. The pork chop was cooked to perfection with a lovely mango salsa and mushroom bread pudding. A unique and yummy combination. The halibut was stewed in a corn miso broth with fresh tomatoes and summer squash. Both dishes had wonderfully developed flavors.

Yelp
Food was excellent and good selection of drinks too! -oysters are a must try -the roasted half chicken is delicious and well prepared -black rice and shrimp was fresh and tasty. And the warm bread yum!! Service was good . It's a very nice place with a water view so try to book in advance if you like a window seat with a nice view .

Yelp
Came for a surprise birthday and the staff were so kind and happy to help us hide from the birthday girl and even accommodated us since our party was larger than expected. While we waited, my friend and I got a few drinks at the bar which were very tasty and well balanced! We started off with charcuterie and salad which was very lovely- especially the salad! The mussels and pasta were cooked beautifully and so was the halibut. The latter was creamier than anticipated but still very satisfying. The restaurant has really beautiful view overlooking the water and just overall and very calm atmosphere. Would love to come back again!

Yelp
My boyfriend & I went here last night for his birthday dinner. It was somewhat last minute considering we weren't too sure where to go that morning but decided on Drakes after looking at their reviews & menu online. They were able to accommodate a same day reservation & we could not be more pleased with our visit. Although the front door was a little difficult to locate, once inside you are greeted with a warm & quiet ambiance with gorgeous views. Perfect for any special occasion or nice outing with loved ones. Kelsey was our server for the evening & we were so impressed by her. We come from the service industry ourselves & couldn't stop talking about how amazing she was at the end of our night. Very attentive but gave us plenty of time to review the menu & chat amongst ourselves. She was knowledgeable on the menu & answered any questions we had. Kelsey was professional, friendly & a delight to spend our evening with. The food was also delicious. I ordered the oven roasted half chicken & he ordered the pork chop. The entrees range in price but are large portions. Thank you for helping us celebrate & making his birthday one to remember

Yelp
High end food in a casual setting. I had the cod which was EXCELLENT and my husband raved about the pork chops. Great service also!

Yelp
Beautiful dining room, great to watch sunset, wonderful service. Celebrated my birthday dinner here and had the oven-roasted half chicken and grilled ribeye steak cooked perfectly to my preferred temperature. Food was delicious!

Yelp
Came here for our anniversary/babymoon last week and it was so wonderful! It was a bit hard to find because we didn't realize it was so small. I think that made the ambiance much more intimate. We came right when it opened and had reservations so we got to sit right away. I believe Lizette was our waitress. She immediately asked if we were celebrating anything and my husband really appreciated that! We had gone somewhere else the night before and was basically ignored the whole time so it was really nice to be acknowledged. My husband had a cocktail that he loved before dinner (forgot what it was). For the meal, he had the pork chop with bread pudding. I was huge! I stole a bite and it was really good! But my dish, the pound of clams with sourdough bread, was just sensational! I'm a big fan of seafood and it was the best meal I've had all year. And we finished off with the mocha chip ice cream and Lizette put a little candle on it for us to blow out. Side note: I have gestational diabetes and was soooo excited the sourdough and ice cream didn't spike my blood sugar.

Yelp
Giving this restaurant 3 stars for a couple of reasons. We came here to celebrate Father's Day (a week early) while we were spending the week in Bodega Bay. We had a party of ten. The restaurant is super cute inside and had a good menu. We started off our meal with fresh oysters for the table, and an order of baked oysters. Both were delicious. Then my sister and I shared the beet salad which was really well done, too. For dinner I ordered the cod, which was very different, but delicious. I think they could've gone with a little less of the cream the fish was in, and I think others who ordered it agreed. My husband ordered the pork chop as well as two other people, and they said it was "alright". My husband said it was good, but not great and didn't compare to other amazing ones he's had elsewhere. For dessert, my sister ordered the sweet potato pie which was very enjoyable. Nothing like a traditional sweet potato pie, which we knew, but so good! Our server started off pretty strong, but quickly tapered off and didn't pay attention to empty drinks, got drinks mixed up several times, and just overall wasn't too attentive. Being that this is a nice restaurant and we had a big group, we knew the gratuity would already be included; clearly so did he. It seemed as if he didn't really feel like he needed to give us 5-star service because he was guaranteed 20% off the bat. We had to wave him down to order more drinks and/or request other things we needed. With a bill at $935, I'd say we left full but a little disappointed in the service overall. Because of that, I think we'd choose somewhere else next time.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous. Service and food were both top notch! Thomas was an exceptional server. Thx Drakes!

Yelp
The setting and views were incredible. We had a great breakfast and the staff were pleasant and attentive to our coffee needs. Would definitely return again.

Yelp
I came in to try their breakfast menu, and OMG. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I was highly impressed with how delicious everything was. They made such simple ingredients really shine. We enjoyed our breakfast with mimosas, peach bellinis, and, of course, the beautiful view from the window on a gorgeous foggy morning. I have no complaints about the service; very professional and attentive. Drakes continues to be one of my favorite spots in Bodega Bay.

Yelp
Gorgeous views, great service. We stopped by for a quick breakfast and ordered a latte, French toast, and some eggs. I recommend the French toast - it had a fun, crunch texture and went so well with the fruit and jam it came with! The latte was fine.

Yelp
I made reservations for my daughter and I after looking at the reviews, menu and location. Truthfully, I wanted to find out how their oysters would hold up to my favorite...Skates on the Bay in Berkeley. Drakes did not disappoint! The service, ambiance and location was very nice, quiet and relaxing. Oysters were top notch, Caesar salad was the best one I've had by far, my steak was melt in your mouth, and the carrot cake for dessert was delicious. If you haven't been, I definitely recommend going here!

Yelp
We stopped by last month. The food was great. OMG I don't usual go for a pork chop but it was awesome. I wish i remembered our servers name but she was awesome. We really had an enjoyable time. Will be back. Yummy!

Yelp
We just go for the drinks and French fries, which are both great except they have shrunk the French fries from a large bowl to a tiny single serving.... Maybe have two sizes?

Yelp
I was so nervous booking a reservation here in order to celebrate a special birthday with my husband. We are not from the area and had nothing to go off of except for the reviews. Unfortunately, they were all over the place - subpar food, inattentive service, etc. However, what sold me were the pictures of the venue. I figured if all else fails, at least we had a pretty sunset view... and pretty sunset views make everything feel better. Our reservations were for 6:45PM on a Sunday evening. We were seated promptly and waited on in a timely manner. I wish we were seated in one of the bay windows, but they were reserving the last open one "for a VIP guest". What we ordered - bread and butter + the soup of the night (minestrone). Both were tasty IMO, but my hubby thought the minestrone lacked flavor and wasn't thick enough. He also didn't like that the grated parm was sticking to his spoon. For our entree we shared the Mussel Cacio e Pepe - a delicious pasta with mussels. It was truly so, so delightful. However, if it hadn't been for the bread + butter we ordered, the size of the entree would've left us unsatisfied. The end of our meal came with a surprise birthday dessert - a generous portion of a FANTASTIC cake. I have no idea what it was called, but it had flavors of chocolate, peanut butter, and wafers. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm so glad we got to visit this beautiful place and I hope this review reassures you to take the chance and go for it, despite the bad experiences Yelped about recently.

Yelp
Excellent food the pork chop and cod were excellent. The waitress Kelsey was stellar, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Yelp
The food was amazing, we had the most exquisite lamb chop, lightly glazed and sitting on a king mushroom bread pudding. Greeted by Jose and well - served by Ryan. The views at each table of the bay are spectacular. E

Yelp
Our food was absolutely amazing. We had the Black Rice bowl with chicken and a the black Cod. Both amazing. Started with shrimp and artichoke dip. Best app I've ever had. Our server, I believe her name was Lizette or something, made the experience amazing. Very friendly and recommend the perfect items. She deserves a raise . 12/10 recommend this place.

Yelp
We had an amazing time at Drakes, we booked dinner reservations for our second night at the Lodge, we didn't plan for them to be at sunset but it was an amazing surprise, specially as we were celebrating birthdays and anniversary amongst other events, our table was by the window with a view of the grass, bay and mountains. We ordered a bottle of wine, along with a charcuterie board, it was delicious! The cheese selection was from Valley Ford Creamery and a basket of artisanal bread. For entree we chose the black rice bowl with prawns. Everything was delicious and our server was kind, courteous and paid attention to every detail. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this restaurant based on the location and ambiance but was sorely disappointed. We went for brunch. The food was okay but the service wasn't great. We waited almost a half hour to be asked about our drink order. We ordered food at the same time and only saw our server again when she brought food. It wasn't busy at all. For the price we really expected better food and service.

Vicki H.

Yelp
Great ambiance and pretty good food especially their burger. We like to sit by the fire pits or inside by the fireplace. Very enjoyable!

Yelp
We had a view of flying rain out of the window. Nice view while cozy inside. We parked in the small parking lot in the last of the EV spots but there was a sign saying they were still working on getting power to their EV boxes so we were fine. We accidentally went through the door to the den (where they have special guest events and a tv with sports) to the reception and the receptionist showed us a map to go through the lot to the restaurant. The fireside lounge was rained out and we stood in the entrance of the inside lounge until a waiter told us to walk through the restaurant to the host stand. We finally made it to the starting destination and the host seated us at a two person table by the window, informing somebody else that the lounge area was first come first serve since they didn't have a reservation like we did. 1 star off for the screaming children ruining the 5-star atmosphere. There were children all over the restaurant and lounge that had no dividing door. Our waiter had a name badge on saying Joaquim. He was working hard and had a lot of running around to do. I ordered the estate cocktail which was very lavender forward. You really have to love drinking the lavender flavors for this one. It was well presented though. My husband got a Pinot noir. Water was served in glasses I mistook for candle holders. For starters we shared the chorizo baked oysters which were full of flavor, but unfortunate also full of shells for both of us. We also had the aquchile which was tasty with red peppers for spice. It is a small dish though. I had the black rice bowl which was perfect for me in sour, Japanese, and mushroom flavors. I asked for extra hot sauce which they brought me chili in oil, dumped it all in, and it had a mild kick. My husband got the cod which he thought was mediocre. For dessert we shared the valley ford cheesecake which he devoured and still dreams about despite the apples on it and a glass of Madeira dessert wine. The restroom is clean and spacious and has cool papyrus like film on the doors. It is located past the host stand, past the private party area. The check was brought to us before asked, and we were asked and we were a guest at their hotel, which I assume most were. All in all we would prefer another fancy restaurant in the area because of the atmosphere, but may give the fireside lounge a try when the weather is better.

Yelp
I've been here a few times in the past for drinks and bar food. Always amazing views and service. Finally had a sit down dinner and couldn't have been more disappointed and unimpressed with the food. Ordered the half chicken and it couldn't have been more bland next to a big piece of sloppy cabbage. Drinks and service were great at least but I definitely don't recommend this dish. Would have been better off grabbing a rotisserie chicken from Costco which would have saved me from this $37 plate.
google avatar

Ken K.

Yelp
My wife and I ate dinner at Drakes. I had the porkchop dinner and it was the best; thick cut, cook to perfection, and very flavorful! My wife had the chicken it was great, but the cabbage was absolutely amazing! The server, Kelsey, was so friendly and her advise about meals were excellent. She made the whole experience special. I highly recommend Drakes for dinner and try there breakfast as well. Their French toast is to die for!

Yelp
So unimpressed by this restaurant! We were staying here and made reservations in advance. We grabbed some drinks and an appetizer at fireside and i wish we stayed there. Of course the view is beautiful so that is a plus. But it was hot and stuffy in the restaurant and flies were flying everywhere. Our server Willa greeted us told us the soup of the day and asked if we had allergies. I asked if there are any other specials and she said "nope, not tonight." Didn't go over the menu at all or suggest anything. She didn't ask if we were celebrating anything. Who cares if we are celebrating our anniversary. I have worked in the industry for 10+ years and this experience was like going to Applebees. I asked her to explain the cod and she literally said there's apples, and sunchokes with a beurrre blanc. Thank you for just reading us the menu. My boyfriend ordered the ribeye and it was so charred. We are taking it home for our dogs to eat. Would really have enjoyed our experience if our server cared at all to be there.

Yelp
Why I recommend Drake's Sonoma Coast: 1. Impeccable service. Our server was super attentive and his attention to detail showed. We wish we could remember his name because he was that good, but we do remember he's from London. 2. Ambiance is fantastic. There are gorgeous views of the bay from inside and out. 3. Most importantly, the food and beverages were spot on! Between our group of 5, we had the amberjack crudo, little gems salad, mussels, clams, the pork chop, and black cod. All arrived beautifully presented and all were absolutely delectable! With dinner, we had a couple of cocktails and a bottle of wine, all of which were very palatable We followed that up with a lot of dessert - Panna cotta, peach bread pudding, carrot cake and pistachio Gelato. We loved all of them, so we cannot pick a favorite.

Yelp
Nestled within a lovely spa hotel, this restaurant has a wonderful calming ambiance with a spectacular view. My food was very good and vegan. (Although I'm not vegan, I love salads based on grains- this time bulgar wheat). Service was excellent. Prices are moderate but reasonable

Yelp
Great setting, mediocre dining experience. I've been to Drakes in its current form for both breakfast and dinner. Some things are good, some mediocre, some weird. For dinner: halibut was great, but the "Caesar salad" had cheddar cheese and ranch dressing on it. For breakfast: coffee was TERRIBLE. Bitter and undrinkable. Eggs Benedict and French toast were solid though. The good: the views, the bar , the service. The bad: the coffee, the inconsistency The bottom line: great setting that could be truly fantastic with better attention to detail.
google avatar

Yelp
A formal yet casual experience. As far as the meal, I do wish there were more vegetarian options. The whole experience was great. My mom enjoyed herself and made many compliments. I would like to revisit and sit outside with appetizers and drinks while watching the sunset.

Yelp
Very popular restaurant located in the Lodge at Bodega Bay. Restaurant was full on a Saturday night. Upscale interior with nice woodwork. Wonderful place for special celebrations, gatherings with family and friends, or date night. Food was solid. Excellent customer service.

Yelp
A visually stunning treat eating at Drakes Sonoma Coast. Ambiance is GORGEOUS both day, or night! Classic-style wood finished bar & dining room, steakhouse aesthetic. Perfect for a sunny morning brunch & candle lit dinner date. Views of the bay stretch the of the massive dinning room windows across the entire restaurant. You can see an array of wildlife, land & sky. Did I mention - the food is great as well? The EGGS BENEDICT was highly suggested by the lovely server. I took the advice. I did not regret it - whatsoever! First time ordering a Benedict! Wow - presentation was flawless with the added purple floral touches. All the flavors were there, seasoned beautifully. The texture & flavor of the ham was tender & flavorful, high in quality. No farmer John slices here. The combination of the sauce & yolk, paired with the crispy potatoes was everything & more. I will definitely order this again because i will be back & it was phenomenal. DRAKES SONOMA COAST is a MUST

Yelp
You might guess by my reading this is not my favorite restaurant. Reed had made a reservation in advance, but you sit in the window by first come first serve basis, so why bother with the reservation? I had a glass of Shaumsberg Champagne, at a mere $26, as it was my birthday. No comps here and no free dessert on your birthday. we ordered a dozen oysters to start from Tomales. Bay and the big ones were delicious and the small ones were salty. I had read the menu in advance and was excited because it said they had Cioppino, but they didn't have it any more. Their menu online was not up to date. Dang! I ordered trout and Reed ordered a ribeye steak. As you can see, by my photo, the tail and the head of the trout were burnt, Black. The potatoes look like they were falling out of the sliced open stomach and the fish was mushy. The sauce was to be a combination of capers, eggs, and lemon. It did not taste good. I actually could not even eat it. Between the potatoes, falling out of the stomach, the burnt ends and the mushy fish. It was a bad choice for my birthday. I took two bites and called it a night! Reed's ribeye had lots of gristle, and though it tasted fairly good, there was a lot of waste. So it's my 74th birthday, I don't get to sit by the window. Enjoy the view and my dinner is awful. What a way to spend your birthday. We went into the bar and had a couple scotches . I should say we had one each to the tune of $60. They did comp my dinner, but I would hope so as I did, could not eat it and even though I was excited for dessert by this point in time, nothing looks good ! Hooray, for bad birthdays! Go somewhere else....

Yelp
Went to Drakes on Bodega bay and the food was amazing and our waitress was absolutely amazing. The views of the coast were beautiful. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was sooo good! Thank you to the staff for giving me great birthday view!!

Yelp
Some friends and I had dinner here a couple of weeks ago and were so disappointed with the food. The service and ambiance were great, but the food was terrible all around. We started with the butter lettuce salad and the truffle "potato salad". The butter lettuce salad was extremely bland, and the truffle potato salad was served as a deconstructed salad (not expected, and not described that way on the menu). It was also pretty bland, with no hint of any roasted garlic dressing. My friend had the Bouillabaisse and there were only 5 very small mussels/clams total, and two shrimp in the entire dish (see picture). Two of us got the filet. The filet was overcooked and the vegetables served with it were also overcooked and mushy. The potatoes had no seasoning whatsoever. Also, it was overwhelming to have pickled onions, chimichurri, and horseradish sauce, all with filet. The quinoa that came with the duck was also completely bland and undercooked. For a very expensive dinner, the quality was seriously underwhelming. Considering that this is the only restaurant open past 8 pm near The Lodge at Bodega, it would go a long way if they had a much higher standard for their food.

Yelp
We came to Bodega Bay for a Ladies weekend March 2024 to celebrate my friend's Birthday! Celebrated her Birthday with Sunday Brunch here! Everything was perfect, the celebrant is Vegan and the Chef was able to accommodate a wonderful dish for her! She was a happy camper so were all of the party with our delicious Brunch. The view was spectacular and service was excellent! This was our 1st time eating here but will not be our last!

Yelp
You could say this was a good restaurant based on the ambiance. But the food and the service are also really nice. I loved the Florentine Benedict - their hollandaise is flavorful and lemony. The service was awesome and tables were not left dirty for a long time. Keep up the good work!

Yelp
Excellent salmon chowder, delicious house-made bread. My mom liked her cod fish dinner, but would have liked more on the side. My rainbow trout was spectacular. The chocolate dome was fantastic for dinner.

Yelp
Fantastic anniversary dinner celebration. We started our evening outside sitting next to the fire pit with a lovely glass of wine as we watched the sun go down over the bay. The setting at Drakes is gorgeous. Our meal inside was equally lovely. We ordered the baked oysters and clams as starters. The clams were delicious. The oysters were tasty but a little heavy on the breading for my taste. My husband and I ordered the ribeye steaks and they were flavorful and cooked perfectly. Our table also had the halibut and the fish of the day. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. We highly recommend this beautiful fine dining restaurant.

Yelp
Really excellent dinner, drinks! Got in at 'happy hour' and enjoyed a $6 martini! Hubby had a really well made and filling cheeseburger, I had house onion soup of the day with freshly made bread. Views are amazing! Service was excellent! Hard to find anywhere in the area where we could have had as nice a dinner, drinks for $50!

Yelp
The French Toast was incredible. My husband and I had a delicious breakfast with an amazing view. The service was quaint and staff was attentive. The grounds are well maintained and we enjoyed our time there. If you are in the area definitely give them a try!

Yelp
Disclaimer, really have only done the bar experience vs a full sit down lunch or dinner. First off, this place is stunning and you definitely want to sit outside if you have the chance and it's not too cold. It usually gets quite busy on the weekends, so just to forewarn you. Staff is really hit or miss, never had a bad interaction, but lousy service in the sense of attentiveness. Food has been pretty good, but nothing to really write home about and due to their location and being a high tourist area, prices are quite high. On the other hand, their drinks are quite tasty, so cheers to that! Would I recommend, that really depends, but for me there are several other restaurants that around nearby that could offer better food and pricing in my honest opinion.

Yelp
Food was great, the view was incredible! The hotel is amazing, we love going to sleep to the sound of the fog horns and waking up to them. We have stayed here at least 6 times and it never gets old.

Yelp
We came here for our 1st anniversary and it definitely lived up to our expectations! When I first made the reservation I put in a request to be seated next to the window (since it was our anniversary) and they graciously took us up on our request. The window seating is beautiful and overlooks the bay. The waitress was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu - which apparently is always changing given that they only use local farm fresh ingredients! Which is so evident when you try the food. Oh my goodness. There was nothing that we tried here that we didn't like. The bread basket was served still warm with a seaweed butter- simple, yet so tasteful and satisfying. I ordered the oven roasted half chicken which was so juicy, and it came with roasted cabbage and a creme fraiche with dill and dijon mustard. I was skeptical at first when I read all of those ingredients on the menu but it was all sooo tasty and unlike anything I had ever tried. My husband had the black rice bowl with shrimp. He really enjoyed his dish - it had black rice with locally caught shrimp, avocado crema, and pickled vegetables. For dessert we shared an apple cheesecake- which my husband compared to a cheesecake he tried in Magnolia bakery, NY. Overall, the ambiance is perfect for a romantic date. The staff is so courteous. Portions are more than what a lot of fancy restaurants try to serve you. Every plate here is carefully crafted with the finest ingredients and it definitely shows. Will definitely be back - totally recommend!

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner and what a find. They didn't have seating for the 6 of us, but were willing to let us put 3 round tables and chairs together. We did and it was a pleasantly nice late dinner with friends. Great service, delicious food and cocktails and a very nice atmosphere. Given its January it was too cold to sit outside at 8 pm, but they have a nice outdoor seating area right on the ocean. Looking forward to our next trip to Bodega.

Yelp
This place was an unfortunate disappointment. My wife, and I were here last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary, along with our daughter. The ambiance was cozy and it had some real nice views so that was definitely in this restaurant's favor. The service was also top notch. But the food was, at best, a mixed bag. We started off with drinks and apps and ordered a charcuterie board for the table along with a lavender drink for my wife and a Moscow mule for myself. Everything there was fine and tasting well. My wife then had a corn chowder while I had a Cesar salad. The chowder was fine as was the salad, though I was surprised to find slivers of anchovies in my salad. For our entrees my daughter had the chicken strips and fries while both my wife and I both had a grilled ribeye, medium rare. The steak itself was cooked to our liking but they were both dry and quite bland. The steaks were topped with some chimichurry but it did nothing to enhance the steak's flavor. As a side we had some potatoes which were also pretty bland. My daughter chicken strips were probably the most flavorful when it came to our entrees. It's a shame as this restaurant was has some real classic charm to it. Like I said, great service and nice views but considering what we paid for our meal, it just wasn't worth it. I, seriously, doubt we'll return.

Yelp
I came here with my family and we walked two miles in the rain for some food and cocktails. Upon arrival we were seated quickly as we were the only people in the restaurant. Our server seemed like they may have been new and did not know much of the menu. We were not offered any water but ordered our drinks. Upon delivery of the drinks, the server gave my mother and her friend theirs but asked to see my ID (I am 26 and had my 1 year old daughter with me). We thought it was strange that I was not ID'ed prior to ordering the drinks. I realized that I had left my wallet at the Airbnb that we had just walked in the rain from and asked if I could provide a different form of identification that proved my age. We provided a copy of my passport as well as my COVID vaccine verification that it's verified by the state of California that has my birthday and name on it. The server asked his manager if the forms of identification would suffice but the manager came out and told us that he could not serve me and "would you show a photo of your passport to airport security to get you through?". Obviously I would not, but this restaurant is a restaurant and not TSA. I also looked up the rules of TSA, and if you lose your ID prior to your flight you need to provide two forms of verification, one with your name, social, photo and address and one back up... we did this but it did not suffice. Obviously we know there are rules the restaurant needs to uphold for their licensing etc but the whole situation was strange and we were made to feel like we were lying about my age although I am a full grown adult! They declined to serve me and dumped the drink which to me is wasteful. All is fine but afterwards our server seemed to feel uncomfortable and the service was definitely lacking. The food was fine but I found a hair in mine :( Overall, we were disappointed in the service as we walked in the rain to enjoy a nice time together with a good view but understood there are rules to abide and we thought that the experience could've been better.
