Google
Really cool place. Wasn't much going on on the Thursday we visited but cocktail was tasty and usual London pricing.

Joe Mercer

Google
Great late night event with live music and cocktails. The staff here are friendly and there’s always space. Love the vibes. It’s Shoreditch, what more do you want?

jess kielstra

Google
Went for an event in the basement. The floor is unpaved dirt with massive craters in it. The women’s bathroom was thick with black mould. None of the fans did anything so it was ungodly levels of hot, even for a basement. The drinks tasted like soap. It’s a shame because the atmosphere and crowd where great but it was spoiled by the building and drinks.

Gavin Davis

Google
Cellar space was small and roasting hot too uncomfortable to stay and watch the gig very long. Toilets rather basic, broken. Poor beer selection

Bella

Google
Went here for a gig in the basement, the atmosphere was nice and staff were friendly but there was something wrong with the sound. For all 3 acts the vocals were very quiet and the instruments were incredibly loud.

Yigit Gunel

Google
It’s tasty if you can get it. It’s been an hour since we ordered a sandwich and some tacos. Still waiting for the food. I missed the event while waiting for the food. Worse service in London!!!!

Google
cool bar and fun basement space for gigs and shows. great crowd and vibes

Google
This has to be one of my favourite bars in London! I love the vibe and the temporary exhibitions they always have. Cocktails are nicely priced and quite good! Definitely my go to place in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Fascinating place. Kitschy retro decor -- don't mean to be rude, but it looks dingier in person compared to the Google photos of the interior. Some interesting cocktails along with the classics, beer, wine, and ciders. I thought my cocktail described as sour (that included sake, Italicus, and rhubarb) would be more sour as described but it was sake heavy with more floral notes. Couldn't taste the rhubarb at all so I didn't think the description fit the cocktail itself. My husband enjoyed his cherry old fashioned though! Would come again to try the food and to check out an event as the basement "club" area looked like it would be fun. But otherwise as a bar, the cocktails are decent and standard.

Yelp
Iffff...shis..pisshed...yous..sees.....simples.... Yup this night ended up with me thinking it was a good idea going in my flatmates room and jumping on my bed when I get home. This is ultimate twatville, with the obscure leather furniture, oddly artistic signage and strangely dressed bar staff you couldn't really have a bar like this anywhere else apart from Shoreditch. Actually that's probably why I had never been here before, it just looked too much like it was trying to be f*#king cool, which obviously means it would suck. I was proved wrong... this could be one of two things, it could actually be a good bar without pretension or I've finally fully fledged into a Shoreditch dickhead. I'll leave you to decide, try it for yourself and see...

Yelp
Dream Bags encapsulates what most people likely think Shoreditch is about: arbitrarily cool places replete with roving art exhibitions with more than a little of the Emperor's New Clothes about them. Jag Bags is A-OK, but nothing to write home about. Although if you did want to you'd probably be dissuaded by the overly long and superfluous name. If I can take my sarcastic hat off for a moment I will say that Jag Bags can be fun with a big group of people if you manage to bag yourselves some of the many couches downstairs. I've never been struck by the atmosphere in this place, you kind of have to make your own. But to be put off by the local legend that is the pretentiousness of Jag Bags would be a shame. Jag Bags is like the unitard: it's wise to try it on for size before you rule it out altogether.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were invited for drinks with some friends at this great little place to watch the World Cup a couple of weeks ago. Although the result was disappointing, the Long Island ice teas and homemade pizzas were definitely not! The staff are super friendly, the drinks and food are affordable and there is a massive basement which is opened in the evening for club nights. We walk past it almost every single day, I can't believe I've never been in before. Definitely one of my favourite new Sunday lunchtime spots.

Yelp
Turns out finding a bar open in London late on a Monday night is more difficult than you'd perhaps think. Not one for busy city bars we jumped in a can to Old street / shoreditch area area and headed in to Dream Bags and Jaguar Shoes. Pretty cool, laid back little bar. Good drinks, nice atmosphere. Perfect and was open til 1am. Except it wasnt, they decided to shut at midnight instead. so in summary....great little place....if its open but avoid if your not keen on the London greater spotted Hipster.

Yelp
Ok, so I know this place is a cool, hip bar but listen, it's also a GREAT place to study during the days. If you're also a student with lots of free time on your hands: come here study during the weekdays. Before 5pm, it is completely empty and is just a great place to concentrate, with loads of light and space. It's a delight to come here when it's sunny and warm, because they open the windows and you literally feel like you're studying outside! Honestly, look no further, this is the best place to study in Hoxton!

Yelp
I can dig it! Tip: come during the quieter evenings of the week. You will be frustrated and cramped (as you would *anywhere* on a weekend night in Shoreditch) otherwise. Trendy/hip vibe, reasonably priced drinks, a good soundtrack, no real complaints. Would happily return...just not on a Friday/Saturday night!

Yelp
Heeheehee. Well, because of the novelty of being a visitor from the North, this seemed bright and sparkly and wonderful to me. My first Shoreditch bar... *Sigh* It was almost like being back in Manchester's Northern Quarter. It's a game of spot the drainpipe jeans, vintage junk jewellery and/or backcombed/teased hair, and I love it. It's the kind of place the artsy crowd hang out, and with bellies full of Vietnamese food and Blossom Hill-induced merry dispositions, we felt right at home. Pouring ourselves onto squishy sofas in a less crowded area, everything was fine and dandy as far as I was concerned - the drinks were tasty, the music wasn't insanely obnoxious, the conversation was flowing and the company was perfect. Pretentious? Oh, hugely, but certainly in a good way.

Yelp
(Warning This Review Contains Swears and Sarcasm) Busy, trendy as fuck and the service was slow. Nice, but slow. On a Thursday night no less. And wouldn't you know it, the only spot we could grab to sit down was, you guessed it, bench seating! Mother effer its like a conspiracy against me I swear! To be fair to the nice bartender, the old fashioned was tasty. But here's the beef: On the menu on the wall "Black Cherry and Chocolate Old Fashioned". That sounds yummy right? She starts making it, slowly searches for the ingredients apparently hidden around the bar (it's not an easter egg hunt bitch organize your shit!), and then stirs....and stirs.....aaaannnnnddd adds more ice...and then stirs again. After me commenting on the amount of stirring she mentioned that it should be stirred for 81/2 minutes. I know an old fashioned is to be stirred but where the hell did she get this specific time from? And then apparently she mumbled something about not having (or finding) chocolate and just handed me the drink....uh what? Did you at least not charge as much? No? Full price? Ok whatever. Harumphh. Like I said my cherry old fashioned was delicious. Just not what I ordered and not when I wanted to drink it. Lame.

Yelp
Despite the increasing population of city suits creeping into shoreditch, I will still venture back to my old stomping grounds for a select few places and Jaguar shoes is one of them. The drink prices are standard, the music is fun and danceable, the pizza (made in the restaurant next door) is a must try. Love the ever changing interiors and art work too!

Yelp
.....nah, yeah totally man.....what?.....oh...a pint.....the time?......i need chips.... Blasted already we were ushered in here by an excited Lizzie (does she have another setting?). What to expect?? - Enough men in skinny jeans to choke Gok Wan - Big lady/man (not ladyman) hair - Very serious people Reckon i was a little too far gone to really experience this place and certainly in too mangled a state to notice any of the mean stares mentioned in other reviews......although, given our collective 'state' and penchant for giggling for lenthy periods of time, I'm sure the 'grrrr i'm cool' stares were there for everyone else to see. Right then. I was told the story bout this place and the unusual name, which despite being very interesting, i have now completely forgotten.....throw in witty story here: ahahahaha...yeah totally! Drinks.....trendy expensive, but expected. Decor....very arty, could be taken as a tad wanky, but my drunken brain liked it. All in all....flippin good, but hey, i was in kick rear end company...would i go back? hell yeah! will i join in with the skinny jeans wearing?? That's a negatory!

Yelp
Fab decor, especially the fuzzy white bear head. I also love the old signage out front. Pints a bit spendy, but friendly bar staff. The downstairs room is cozy and lovely, while the upstairs was bustling and chilly, with all of the people coming in. Good to meet friends upstairs, because you can easily see the whole room and it's not very dark. Next time . . . I shall wear a polar bear costume and order a white russian.

Yelp
I'm a new explorer to the various boroughs of London, but the first time I visited Shoreditch, I fell in love with the neighborhood. Jaguar Shoes is definitely one of the reasons for my new obsession. I can't say much except that this place is "really, really cool." Coming from San Francisco, I can appreciate a place for being unique, yet comfortable and welcoming. I really enjoy the selection of local beers and the ever-changing, artsy decor is the icing on the cake! I dig.

Yelp
Having never heard of the place before coming here with some Yelpers, I found myself originally a little put off by the layout and design. Something about it just didn't click with me. However, cut to a few hours later, after hearing some wonderful music, drinking some fantastically quick drinks and exploring the downstairs too, I think I'm going to have to declare this something of a treasure. Whilst I wasn't a fan of the fact there only seemed to be one person working behind the bar, I'm sure there was someone else -somewhere-, and she did an amazing job on her own, keeping everything under control. The fact they put up with us and our shenanigans, means this place is most certainly suitable for Yelperific funtiemz. Hit it, people, hit it good!

Yelp
I love a birthday! Any excuse for a drink me. We went with a friend who picked this place - and frankly I love it for the name alone! The location is good, well situated on a busy shoreditch road. it doesn't look like a bar from the outside, which I also like. Inside is very shabby chic, kind of a rundown but cool look. Plaster on the wall peeling in some places to reveal cement, we had a table reserved which was lucky on this busy Saturday night. Drinks were typically overpriced but not awful and service was fine. The problem is the almost bland trendy atmosphere. You expect this in Shoreditch, so why is this place any more exciting? To me it wasn't, it was a good space to start the night before moving on. Great name though!

Yelp
This place has different moments. I can easily imagine that if I had come in here for a pizza on a busy night (probably most nights realistically) I would hate this place. It's too small, and you get the sense that it's going to be filled with cool Shoreditch hipsters jammed check-to-gowl (something I personally try to avoid where possible). However, if you come in during the day when it's a bit quiet, it's lovely. The service was really great: attentive, and friendly in a genuine way. The pizzas very tasty. Slightly reduced marks for a size (it could be a little bigger) and fact that our vegan pizza was expensive, even though all they did was remove ingredients, and not add back anything to replace what they had taken off. The long black coffee I had was very good. Bottom-line: Great pizza, come early to avoid the crowds.

Yelp
BUSY! LOUD! SHOREDITCH WANNABEES! BUT IT WORKS?! I like this place. I've been known to drink pints of wine in here. Only when in the area though, I wouldn't trawl up from S.London especially....

Yelp
Dream Bags and Jaguar Shoes is still probably one of my favourite bars in Shoreditch. Not sure why, but I just love it. Bar staff are efficient, cute and super-friendly, as are the bouncers on the weekend - a rare find in this city! It's just had a makeover, so the once pseudo-tatty walls are now covered with super-bright wallpaper. Not sure if I love it yet, only time will tell! They have a fully-stocked bar, with a decent (and reasonably priced) wine list and extensive cocktail list. If you want to eat, you can order bangers and burgers over the bar which are made next door at Bang Kitchen, and they are delicious (particularly after a couple of pints of cider). There's a downstairs section which fills up on weekends, with the Dj pumping out beats. Be warned that it does get rather packed on weekends, so if you can, check it out on a weeknight - I promise you'll like it more!

Yelp
Got myself in here for an early evening pre-dinner cocktail and it was pleasant as it was not crazy busy or full. The decor is industrial hip that includes several walls being projected onto with repetitive and distracting footage. On this occasion it was troupes of dancers. We took seats at the bar where we ordered our cocktails, I went for the Blueberry Caipirinha which was 9 GBP. Made with a lot of TLC, I watched patiently as each drink was constructed. The bartender took her time and made a fine job of it. My cocktail was top notch, yum. Would I go back? Probably if I was passing the door and if there were free seats. I wouldn't go out of my way or be squished in at those prices.

Yelp
If you can weave through the asymmetrical haircuts and manage to get a drink, you're much better skilled than most. There's some... interesting... folk in here. It's like being on the set of an American Apparel photo shoot when they start to change the set over to shoot something else but all the models kind of hung around because they didn't have anything better to do. My favorite thing is spotting the banker hipsters who work out far too much but still pride themselves on being able to pull off skinny jeans and chunky glasses even though they probably prefer contacts monday-friday. mmmm..... eh. I'm sure there's a time and a place for this place. But I almost feel like they want you to hate it, so they've probably won.
google avatar

Peter K.

Yelp
Good music, interesting and Artsy decor. Drinks are reasonably priced but everything else about the place seems a little... "Soul-less"? They can do a lot more with the space they have, didn't feel too astounded by the spot. The clientele they attract is young and hip but no one's really having too much fun there. Hmm. Not sure , I'm conflicted with this place.

Yelp
These 4 stars are based on weeknight hang outs at the Jag, which are always chill. Not crowded, very chill atmosphere, and plenty of room. I love the basement area with the massive couches and the privacy/intimacy if you require it. The wall art tickles my fancy as well. Photography. Prints. Collages. All that jazz. Your typical trendy Shoreditch crowd. Which i'm not sure what my opinion of them is just yet. But it doesn't make a difference to me when I'm just chillin like a villain post-workin. Bartenders are pretty nice, drinks are a bit hiked up for what I'm used to at Shoreditch, but they have a decent selection of stuff.
google avatar

Siobhan K.

Yelp
If you can get past the uber too cool for skool (or anything else for that matter!) crowd this is a nice little bar. Cool decor (I get the imperession that they do the same type of thing as 'Tina we salute you' - which is having artists redecorate every now and then). They serve up some fine pizza's from the Due Sardi pizza joint next door. Drinks are good, music is funky cool and they have a downstairs which opens in the evening where you can boogie the night away! Only real downside for me is the sullen faced bar staff that are obviously soooo coool that they can't even look at you or speak much when they are serving you. Bless them, must be tough being that cool!
google avatar

Anoop K.

Yelp
Came here last night before heading somewhere else, though I almost missed it because it's so dark from the outside that I thought it was closed! There is a pretty good selection of drinks, and te staff know them well :) I went downstairs and liked the multitude of tea-lights/candles that they have there. Id definitly come back if I was in the area.

Yelp
This is a very quirky place. In the window it says 'made you look!' And I did enjoy looking round and taking it all in to an unusual, but very good, soundtrack (songs i knew, but in very different arrangements than I was familiar with). I love that the name is a combination of two businesses that formerly occupied the area in which the bar now resides. Its a shame that its just standard fare (Guinness and lagers) on the bar. An opportunity missed there I feel. Luckily though the fridge has some interesting, but expensive, bottles. Enjoyed a Sun Day from Brewers Union and a Hive honey beer (same beers found in The Grocery a few doors down) You can order in pizza or pasta from Due Sardi which is basically next door. Looks worth a try! I still don't really know what a hipster is.
google avatar

Daphnée A.

Yelp
Crazy busy on the weekends, Jaguar Shoes is a great place to chill out during the week. The place has some few seating on the main floor, and extra more on the basement. You've got wine, beers, champagne and a selection of 8-10 cocktails. The apple cider mojito is not a bad choice. Pros: Hispter like decor with old signs (not always a pro for some, but for me the decor was fun) Friendly staff Good pizza! Cons: Bit small Average price Money Money Money: Paid £30 pounds for 3 cocktails and a coke
google avatar

Laura Y.

Yelp
I wasn't quite sure what to make of this bar when I visited to meet a colleague on a Wednesday afternoon. It kind of looks like a room that isn't really a bar but has a few bottles beer and vodka knocking about. The artwork dotted about is quite cool though and it probably does appeal to the funky Shoreditch crowd as this is the folk who generally come here. I'm not sure if the bar staff really want to be there though as to be honest they are quite a miserable bunch - maybe that's a part of the whole image thing. Having gone back on an evening, the music is pretty good - an eclectic retro mix which everybody seems to be really into. I don't really think I fitted in though - I just didn't feel cool enough and was really self concious when considering the state of the place, seems a bit daft. The people aren't the friendliest and it is rather cliquey. Give it a try....if you think you're cool enough.
google avatar

Gareth H.

Yelp
I've been twice, there won't be a third visit. Admittedly I made the fatal mistake of rolling in on a Friday night on both occasions but why the hell is everyone so moody? The bar staff are utterly unable to crack a smile and the average jo at the bar looks like they would sooner shit a pineapple than engage you in conversation. Musically things are pretty sound, I remember one glorious occasion when a DJ played some Crosby, Stils and Nash much to my delight, but this cannot make up for the fact that the place holds a very hostile atmosphere.
google avatar

Catherine H.

Yelp
This is quite an odd bar populated by the usual Shoreditch crowd wearing the occasional leopard-print spandex jumpsuit. The music is usually pretty good and the art on the walls changes every now and then, since this space is also used as a gallery. The downstairs has more seating and is generally nicer, although I find it too dark and a bit claustrophobic. The drinks are reasonable. I have found myself coming here usually after 11 when whatever previous pub I was in was closing. It does stay open a bit longer than usual which is useful and my friends generally like it. All in all, Jaguar Shoes is ok.
google avatar

Joseph P.

Yelp
From the day this establishment opened, this bar has gone on to be even more trendier. DBJS has a dirty but yet glamorous feel to its decor, with battered sofas and battered looking art on the walls. The background music is edgy with a mix of underground music such as Dub to the more commercial tunes. The drinks prices are fair and they have a mix of beers, cocktails and bottled lager sounds a bit samey doesn't it, well the vibe of the place makes up for it 100%, the staff are like thee coolest dudes on earth it seems!
google avatar

Ray C.

Yelp
A quirky bar that has a bar upstairs and downstairs. When we visited this bar it was late on a Wednesday night and it was rammed full. Whilst I appreciate this is a quirky bar they have some really awesome decor, some edgy artwork and the bar is well stocked, it was a little like world war 3 in there. We ventured downstairs as there was a live DJ, but the music was far too loud and it was full of really battered people so we left quite quickly. The cocktails were very tasty, but having to wait about 10-15 minutes to get to the bar. I'd really like to go back to this bar when it's a bit quieter as I believe it has a lot of potential and the staff are very enthusiastic about their drinks. However till then I will be avoiding this place when it's busy.

Qype User (sfeena…)

Yelp
I like this bar. There is an exhibition on the walls which showcases the work of local artists and changes weekly. Really intimate downstairs area with cozy seating and good lighting! A good selection of drinks at the bar, all of which are reasonably priced. In my opinion this is more of a 'starter bar' for a night out rather than a night out in itself, but all in all a pretty good place!
google avatar

Qype User (Harv-m…)

Yelp
How can you not fall in love with a place called Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes? Cons: Sometimes the music selection leaves much to be desired and the volume isn't conducive to socialising. The beers can be overpriced. Pros: Great space, nice staff, good beer selection and I like the team-up with Due Sardi next door for reasonably priced food. The art is always entertaining if not good.
google avatar

Qype User (sound…)

Yelp
Yes this is the ultimate Shoreditchy type joint. Usual low level service but a good place with nice art on rotation. I like the twist on the name.

Yelp

Yelp
I have now been a couple of times in the evening (once on a busy Friday night, the other time on a much calmer Monday night) and can only confirm my first good impression. Sure, there is a definite hipster vibe in this place, but it's all very friendly, and one must admit: the constantly changing exhibitions are seriously cool. So while I usually prefer more low-key places, I do like to come here occasionally for a fun night out as well as for a relaxed afternoon.

Anne S.

Yelp
I keep going to this place even though it gets weigh too busy, packed, it is hard to get seat or even fit inside from the door. Why? Well because I have never had a boring night in Jaguar Shoes. It is such a mixed bag with everything, you never know what you get and for me this far it has been full of only good surprises. The music varies, the decoration or the art changes, drinks are great, and the people beautiful. I just but on my high heels and go!
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
A hipster funky east London bar, way to crowded for me and I didn't feel like it was that great of a place except for the people watching. I like a more speak easy place with creative cocktails, this isn't that.

Adrianna V.

Yelp
Control your bartenders. I went there on Sunday bank holiday night and this blond hair bartender was off her face. Soo drunk

Bea B.

Yelp
Located in an a former retail unit selling bags & shoes, Dream bags Jaguar Shoes is the place to go if you want to be seen in the right places. Always filled with the checkered shirts, pointed shoes, skinny jeans, young kids of Shoreditch.. all looking like clones from American Apparel. Somehow, standing in a packed bar surrounded by the try-hards of the East End isn't my favourite way to spend a Saturday night. But it's actually a great venue, shabby chic, with battered sofas, wooden floorboards and regular art exhibitions, which cover the otherwise bare walls. Best avoided at the weekends, it's not a bad choice of venue at quieter moments during the week. Just don't expect great conversation from the bar staff or much sense from the younger wannabes. In short, take some good friends and take everything else with a pinch of salt.

E I.

Yelp
Poor service, ignored by staff despite being one of three people in the entire place. Once I got my drink and sat down to read I saw the staff behind the bar swigging straight from bottles while making themselves drinks. I know it's a bar, not a five star hotel, but that seems unnecessary and disgusting especially considering it was a quiet afternoon. Atmosphere is bland, no outlets for laptops (maybe downstairs?) and the music is really loud and bizarre (and I like weird music). Needless to say, I won't be back.
google avatar

Qype User (Howso…)

Yelp
Quintessentially Shoreditch, Jaguar shoes manages to strike just the right balance between unbearably trendy and slightly shabby chic. A really good place to start a night out - and the drinks will make you very happy.
google avatar

Ray P.

Yelp
haahahahahahhaha... this place was our first stop in a very long night out. i cant really say much about it cuz whenever i would go im usually already pissed out of my mind and my lovely friends would be holding my hand on the way to the down stairs. but its got some interesting art at times and its always good for people watching... to warm people though... its not a good place if you want to jump around dancing cuz you will just crash into everyone and spill their drinks, which is a no no in my books. a spilled drink is like a jab to the stomach. nonethess, its got a great crowd and decent music.

Qype User (fuerte…)

Yelp
Slightly scummy, refurbished bag and shoe shop (ooh how quaint!) with art on the walls and an expensive bar...so typically Shoreditch. This place is always heaving at the weekends with Hoxton tossers and newly born hipsters that have blatantly just moved to London and are either at art college or trying to make it as a musician/ writer/ stylist or something. Not hating, but yes it is very painfully Shoreditch. That said Jaguar Shoes does make a particular effort to support local artists using the upstairs bar as a rolling gallery, changing from week to week. I was surprised to read the review about the bar staff being unfriendly because I've always found them to be overly chummy, slightly hysterical and drunk, usually offering to match you shot for shot. But maybe that's a sales technique for the massively overpriced booze.
google avatar

Qype User (hollym…)

Yelp
Pretentious, loud, and full of teenagers having fashion offs with each other. The place is a crumbly hole but incredibly popular with the Hoxtonites
google avatar

Qype User (fairyo…)

Yelp
Great little bar; very accommodating and arty. They have a nice little venue downstairs that could be adapted to quite a few smallish sized events Staff are friendly, atmosphere is good. Nice little hang-out.

Qype User (Jamie…)

Yelp
Strange name, a combination of past shops (one called Dream Bags and the other, well you get it). This place is full of the Shoreditch types, maybe not for everyone. But it has a huge window so you can look in from the outside and wish you were all as cool them. Exhibitions feature within the bar which is always a nice touch, and the occasional free party means that this place is always heaving. It's a little grotty, but hey, what do you expect?!
google avatar

Jose P.

Yelp
Good music, good mix of people, and a really good art project every month. Love every time the decoration change leaving a completely new theme. Is one of the don't miss from an east london night. Also, the food served from the adjoining place, is just amazing. You can have a really yummy lunch or pre drinks @ Jaguar, love it!

Qype User (lilypa…)

Seems there is a quite a differing of opinions when it comes to this little bar. I thought it was great, just what i was looking for on that night. A very chill atmosphere, with seats available and some easy listening music played at a volume where conversation is still possible. It was a wednesday night in all fairness, had it been the weekend, i think it would have been a very different story. Funky (if a little weird) interior decorating and a ladies bathroom door that is easily miss-able in the shadows. Polite and friendly staff and reasonably priced (you know, for London anyway). Had an enjoyable experience overall.
