Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa

Just recently stayed for a week at Dreams and had a great time with my family. Our room was perfect with a very nice garden view. Enjoyed the World Cafe and the other finer dinner restaurants. Food was phenomenal and the drinks. I drink mainly reds and the cabernet was a very good quality. Worked out everyday in the gym and Horacio was there to keep it clean and tidy. He was always walking around cleaning off the weight and cardio machines. Totally would recommend this place for your next vacation to an all-inclusive resort.

We spend 2 weeks here November 25 to December 9. This was a last minute change as we were booked to go to Jamaica then due to the hurricane we had to switch locations. Not being a fan of Cancún or Playa Del Carmen any longer, we decided if we ever went back to this part of Mexico we would only stay in Tulum.|Was a long drive from Cancun airport we landed at 2:30 and got to the hotel at 6:30.|Check in was very quick in the Preferred Club and they quickly drove us to our room which was a great location we could see the ocean even though we only booked garden view room was 8337. Our room was very good, is it a bit dated yes, but we had lots of hot water, good A/C and comfortable bed, what else do you need.|Laura concierge lady in our building was lovely and asked us what we needed in our room each day. Our coffee maker broke and she arranged to have coffee delivered to our room each day.|One thing I have to say is I have never been to a hotel where staff was so kind, attentive and accommodating. They truly made our trip special!!|The beach was just OK, pretty rocky in front of the preferred beach. The swimming area roped off further down the beach was OK there was a fair amount of seaweed where we were there. The beach was nice for long walks |The grounds of this resort are stunning, so lush, Iguanas, Racoons and Coatis roaming around. It was gorgeous!! |Food was good, sometimes fantastic sometimes just OK. A bit inconsistent but I could not complain. Our favourite a La carte was the Italian.|We really only ate at the buffet at breakfast and this is my only complaint. Every day there was a line up and you had to wait. Why?? Because there were so many Unlimited club/timeshare people doing breakfast presentations. They should be having breakfast at a different location. This was disappointing and frustrating.|Would we come back to this resort YES but only if we could fly direct from Edmonton to Tulum, hoping we may get some direct flights

The resort and vacation were fantastic. Food and drinks weren’t top tier but they were very good especially for the price we paid for the resort. Accommodations, amenities, and entertainment were great. The customer service was the highlight. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and happy to help us with any questions or requests. We would recommend this resort to anyone traveling with family and looking for a great value.

My family and I went on Vacation to Dreams Tulum in Mexico this week and honestly the service there is spectacular!! From bellboy, to the lobby staff, we were greeted with such a warm welcome. All of our needs catered in a timely manner with such grace and hospitality! The absolute best recognition goes to the gentleman at the bar, Lorenzo, Carlos, Victor and Benito!! We have never seen such pleasant interaction between bartenders/servers and guests; they always have a smile on their faces, they remember each and everyone’s names, they genuinely converse and interact with everyone AND they remember everyone’s orders! You’ve got to try Lorenzo’s “the devil in me” drink; it’s the perfect blend of alcohol, slushy and passion fruit! The rooms can do with some serious upgrading, there was a lot of rust and patched up work that was clearly visible. I understand the hotel is very old and there is some wear and tear but the upkeep should be mandatory. The specialty restaurants also had some good food, our favourite was the seaside grill for both lunch and dinner and the Mexican restaurant “el patio”. Overall, our stay was wonderful and we would recommend the place for service and food.

Rooms were adequate. Could use some updates. Restrooms were always fully stocked with quality products. Service was hit and miss. The bartenders and drink servers were the best! Very attentive to all our needs. Food was satisfactory, nothing to really rave about but it would fill you up. The Patio restaurant needs to address the mosquito situation. We were not able to enjoy dinner because of all the pests. Common area cleanliness was satisfactory. Beach was nice as it could be despite to seaweed and smell that goes with it. We had to shower in Luke warm water a couple times and water was completely out 1/2 day one day. Entertainment schedule needs to be bumped up a notch during the day poolside. Music all day every day!

This is a all inclusive resort with plenty of different types of food, drinks and entertainment daily and a few shows. You have to get a ride into any town. You can book any excursion thru them or they can call you a taxi. The staff are all helpful, constant cleaning and preparing foods. The beach is right outside to enjoy all day, We did not have one bad day here. Our room was perfect. We would definitely stay here again 💕

General food: Fresh fruit - daily papaya, pineapple, melon, watermelon etc... very nice Smoothie & ice cream bar - a real treat to have this available as part of the all inc, lots of choices very tasty and healthy smoothie options too Coco caffe - a little bit dark inside but nice selection of coffees, herbal teas, pastries and small sandwiches/salad, perfect for afternoon pick me up or pre dinner relaxing Mexican food - daily freshly made corn tortillas, tortilla chips, guacamole, salsa's, cactus, beans, Buffet: Breakfast: good: eggs, omelette station, pancakes, french toast, waffles, hash brown, veggies etc, fresh juices, yoghurts, porridge, cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, pastries & cereal Lunch & Dinner: Good overall: Always grilled fish, chicken, soup, salad options, plus pizza, vegetables, pasta station, fresh fruit A la carte: Seaside grill (poolside): great: put your name down on the list 1 hour before you want to go beautiful view and setting. Fish tacos, ceviches, fajitas and steak, quite good. Portofino (Italian): good: nice restaurant and staff. We thought the food was ok, focaccia and breadsticks plus soup was ok. Vegetable lasagna was good. Himitsu (Teppanyaki): very good: this was worth paying $20pp for as a dining experience. The chef was very funny and entertaining and the food was delicious with a very big portion for everyone El Patio (Mexican) & Gohan (Sushi):Ok Rooms: Nice and spacious, maybe a little dated but no issues at all. Lots of storage space, fully stocked mini bar, very clean and comfortable huge bed. Shower pressure and temperature very good and functioning ac (a little loud). Umbrellas and bathrobes provided too as well as a clothes steamer which was great for evening outfits. The fridge for the mini bar periodically turns on in the middle of the night which can be loud and disturbing, not sure why it does that. Service: Service and people are lovely overall, everyone is super friendly, goes out of their way to assist, keep areas clean,  special shout out to Geysler at the Relax Pool, absolute pleasure and always looked after us. Entertainment: App is very good with menu for each restaurant, and timings for daily activities and shows as well as map and general information. Brazilian show/Fire show - excellent. Christmas time (specifically): Xmas Eve - special dinner buffet in the evening for all guests with tables set up all over the lobby gardens and then live singers plus stages with performers. The resort was decorated and the food selection was the best we had all week, the desserts especially were so creative in design. That was followed by a really fun Silent Disco. Everyone made an effort to dress up and had a good time, we did not pay the additional amount and in hindsight it's not necessary. Xmas Day - there was a really fun foam party & Santa's arrival Beach: Stretching, dance classes, yoga, volleyball all great on the beach: special shout out to Erick, we love you !! Beautifully clean beach, not a huge stretch but big enough and super easy to access Around the Relax Pool, feel like they could enforce the already displayed rules for some loud inconsiderate groups Gym: Pretty decent sized gym and tennis court. Range of dumbbells, 2x squat racks, quite a few treadmills/cardio machines and yoga mats, weight machines. Quite spacious and does what it says on the tin. Pool: Relaxing pool - staff are excellent, couldn't do enough for you, very clean, always got a spot, drinks service Aqua aerobics in main pool, really fun and good music, choreography. Erick again is so good ! Grill is there serving burgers, fries, hot dogs plus nachos and sauces, they could mix up the offering fish tacos or quesadillas or waffles/fruit etc.. To Improve/Note: World buffet/Coco: can feel like quite a dark room, could do with improving the lighting, keeping the curtains open. Cocktails: perhaps more training as slushy, frothy in cream-based cocktails Signage: to be improved on food at buffets as to if its meat, fish or veg

This was my first stay at a Dreams resort, and I couldn’t be happier! The service was beyond excellent, the food absolutely fabulous, and the staff incredibly helpful and friendly. The beach was beautiful—definitely bring a snorkel, as there’s a small sailboat that can take you to a nearby reef for an amazing experience. Honestly, I don’t have a single bad thing to say about this resort (well, maybe just the plastic wine glasses at the Sugar Reef bar!). I’m thrilled and looking forward to enjoying the same outstanding service and delicious food at Dreams Cozumel

The wife and I decided on 2 nights to scout the place out for an upcoming family trip with the kids. Decent property, nothing bad to say about it, just not much wow factor. Having stayed at many Secrets and other Hyatt properties it wasn't as high a caliber as I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the place. In fact, the highlight was the beach- no vendors, very little sargasso, awesome sand/sea and it buts up against a national park- so no neighbors (both a pro AND a con, esp if you're wanting to find a $50 beach massage lol). I guess it just felt a bit dated... maybe it was the plantation/colonial style architecture? Fortunately we got bumped up to a preferred swim out room (globalist upgrade), which we enjoyed and used more than expected. The room was clean, service was always helpful and grounds well kept. The preferred club had a few snacks available and getting premium liquors was much appreciated. Overall, a good family friendly option with great safety and security. After this visit we are still considering returning for an upcoming family trip of 4-5 nights.

Dream Tulum Resort by Hyatt Inclusive collection is my first all inclusive resort. We attended this past week for a wedding. It offers a luxurious all-inclusive experience with beautiful accommodations, six restaurants, bars, pools, and a spa (which we unfortunately didn't get to try). Sit down restaurants include: Himitsu/Teppanyaki Table - Asian Inspired Gohan - Japanese/Sushi El Patio - Mexican Portofino - Italian Bordeaux - French Seaside Grill - Seafood Rooms are a bit outdated, little bit of rust and upkeep is needed. Top floor had low water pressure and rooms were not consistent when compared to others, but the service here is excellent. Room service is a hit-or-miss. I had to ordered items for the room through the Hyatt app or concierge for the building whom I saw over the weekend, didn't see during the weekday. I asked for a steamer to iron my clothes, three times, call and concierge, and never got one. The resort provides a variety of activities for guests, including swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and tennis. While the resort is generally well-regarded, some guests have reported issues with the sales staff's push for UVC memberships which we experienced. They provide a $200 coupon voucher that is split amongst $40 increments, but with massages at $189 it was still pretty expensive. Plenty of liquor but I never saw them ever open a new bottle. Everything is from the back and already opened... I would suggest 3 nights here if you're resort hopping, as you can see all the restaurants and offerings in three days.

The resort appears to be beautiful but once you arrive reality hits. The room was outdated and we had constant issues with the water. They left food outside your door which ultimately had us fighting for our lives nightly with the biggest raccoons I've ever seen. It was so bad we had two hanging outside our door eating that awful food. Yes, the food was awful and customer service was awful. I have traveled a lot and this was the worst all inclusive vacation my husband and I have been on.

Very disappointed considering it's a Hyatt property. We went during the hurricane and I will say they did their best to make sure we had food and were safe. No complaints there. Swim out room was nice. Property is cute but not as big as it appeared in photos. Kids club pool area is nice but only has access as a family a few hours midday or you have to leave your child. When we were there they ran out of towels and water for the kids. So I had to go on foot finding water bottles. Beach is nice and the pools are okay. Best food was when they did the beach bbq. Loved how secure and safe the property was. And they did a great job on the garden reception and balcony wedding. What was disappointing was so many things. Not one availability at hibachi restaurant, alcohol was watered down a lot, lines for bar, not a allergy food friendly place (glad I snuck in my own food into Mexico), first round of makeup and hair lady was horrible, slow slow service at restaurants, half the restaurants were never opened maybe that was due to hurricane, after hurricane beach was filthy with needles/razors/plastic/sooo much trash and treatment was just average. I wouldn't go back to this resort.

I have been wanting to check out Tulum and I was excited for this quick get away. This was my first time at a Dreams resort and it was underwhelming. After arriving I realized that Dreams is not in Tulum proper and that was my 1st mistake. I was treated by a friendly staff named Jazmin (later found out she was trying to sell me a package) but she was friendly and offered me a drink (well 2 as requested by me lol). Checking in was relatively easy and I was carted off to my room in the Adult only side. The rooms are a bit dated but my room was clean and spacious. The balcony has a hammock and a great view of the pool. The overall grounds were dreamy (lol) and well kept. I stopped by one event after dinner and it was great. The service staff were awesome and very friendly. The check-in, concierge and bell hop staff were unhelpful and at times dismissive. On my last day I requested for my luggage to be picked up and after waiting more than 30 minutes I walked with my luggage to the front lobby to catch my transfer because no one showed up nor apologized. Juan, bell hop was rude and dismissive and Sergio was apologetic and helpful. The food was medicore at best. I ate mostly at World cafe because it was the only place always opened with seating. I also did order often from room service. Alejandro was an awesome sever. It was hard getting a seat at the Mexican restaurant when it was opened. I fell asleep waiting to go to the Italian restaurant. The seafood restaurant was really delicious and I enjoyed my meal. The coffee shop was really good. I never made it to the smoothie shop. Cocktail drinks had an odd flavor or aftertaste. After a new gross drinks I stuck to the basics and requested it to be made a specific way. The weather was horrible so I did not get to enjoy the pool or beach. All in all, this was not a great stay and I would not return or recommend this resort. If I ever return to Tulum, I will stay in the hotel zone.

AUGUST 2023 My partner at the time and I arrived and weren't satisfied with the room that we had. So, we decided to "upgrade" to a swim out room instead. The complex were were "upgraded" to was dishelved and unkept. Light fixture were hanging off of the walls, room services trays were left in the hallways for days, and the swim out pool was always sess pool of bugs. If you are looking for a place that can provide you a real life experience of what it feels like to think the building your staying in is on fire, look no further! This is the place for you! My partner and I got back to our room from a morning out the pool and came back to change into some evening clothes, as we were getting ready to head out with a group of friends to check out some of the sights to see off of the confines of the resort. While in our room, the room began to fill up with a light hazy smoke. I asked my girlfriend who was standing out on the back patio if I was seeing things and she came in and confirmed that it was indeed hazy in the room. I began looking around the room for anything that could be the issue (I am a firefighter by profession) hair dryers, curling irons, outlets, anything that could be plugged in... I found nothing in our room that looked to be the culprit. That's when I opened the front door to our room. Upon opening the front door, I was met with thick plumes of smoke that began bellowing into our room. I told my girlfriend to call the emergency number provided on the phone in our room as I went into the hallway to investigate where the origin of the smoke was coming from and to see if someone was could be in trouble and need help as I thought the complex was on fire. After looking to different rooms in the area in question and finding nothing and no apparent emergency situation where someone needed help, I saw an even thicker concentration of smoke coming from what turned out being a utility closet in the common hallway. I opened the door and was met with a super dense smoke CHUGGING out of this area. Concerned and trying to mitigate the situation in any way I could, I pushed into this closet further to see where the smoke was coming from. I couldn't see. My girlfriend had managed to flag down a maintenance worker of the hotel grounds after calling the emergency number provided on the phone and THEY SENT NO ONE. The ground keeper came over to me, who didn't speak English, but I was able to understand "fumagacion". FUMIGATION. FUMIGATION?!? This entire time I have had my face buried in a cloud of pesticides?! I asked myself. There was ZERO warning to us that these chemicals were being rendered and left us with no heads up for us to know to not be there during their application. A day and a half later I became very ill. Symptoms included things such as intense abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, bleeding from my rectum, twitching in my left eye, and numbness to the left side of my face. I got in to see my primary care physician and an ear nose and throat specialist as soon as I could get in with them upon my arrival back at home. The primary care physician concluded that these symptoms were all in alignment with pesticide exposure poisoning. The ear, nose, and throat specialist looked into things deeper and discovered that I had chemicals burns covering the lining of my sinus cavity. I have since experienced regular blow ups of sinus infections (something that I used to only experience once every 3 or 4 years) every month and a half since this happened. A year and a half later I am still struggling with the effects of this exposure. As if that wasn't already enough in and of itself... there's more! During our stay, we were without running water for two and a half days. This was due to an issue with a water main. This means that for two and a half days, we were unable to shower, we were unable to wash our hands in a sink, we were unable to flush a toilet. The toilets across the entire resort were full of feces, everywhere. The kitchen staff were unable to wash dishes in a dishwasher. I witnessed first hand, dishes and glasses being used to serve guests food and drink being washed in one of the resorts pools. A pool that with beyond a shadow of a doubt has probably been peed in. Disgusting. Unsanitary. Despite all of this going on, the resort was still serving food. So, guest are being served food made by hands that are not being washed, on dishes and glasses that are being washed in a pool. Cool, sounds totally sanitary... Never again

This is our second trip to this resort and this time we have spent 10 days here and I have to say that I will not book anywhere else. World Cafe has the best hospitality Carlos Uh and Alejandro have been amazing our entire trip. If you want a resort that has quality and hospitality then you must stay at Dreams Tulum! Thank you for another amazing trip we can't wait for the next one!

Amazing, beautiful, tranquil, the people have been so nice, helpful, and friendly and kind. All of the animals roaming freely around the property, a raccoon, iguanas, kitties, lizards, birds, what a refreshing wonderful trip. The food is wonderful. The beach is beautiful. The carefree feeling of not worrying about anything! Thank you so much for everything.

My girlfriend had her heart set on celebrating her birthday in Tulum, so we chose Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a decision we regretted. To our surprise, Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa is actually located in Riviera Maya, not Tulum. We all selected individual preferred suites with a swim pool. We arrived with high hopes for a relaxing and enjoyable experience, but our stay fell far short of these expectations. Throughout our time at the resort, we encountered several significant issues that greatly impacted our overall impression. Upon entering our room, we were dismayed to find that it was in poor condition. The furniture looked old and outdated, the floors were chipped, the balcony door was broken, and the balcony itself was filthy. Furthermore, the safe in the room was broken, leaving me unable to securely store my valuables. This lack of attention to detail and maintenance is simply unacceptable for a resort of its supposed caliber. Additionally, i encountered several bugs in the room, which made it difficult to feel comfortable during the stay. Please note ... The resort is very dimly lit at night, we encountered various wildlife roaming about in the shadows, which was quite unsettling. What was more unsettling was while walking to the beach at about 9am hearing a child scream "mom that's a rat" and looking over to see it was indeed a freaking rat , a very large rat. We found the attitude of the staff to be disappointing. Instead of receiving a warm and professional welcome, we encountered rudeness and indifference from some members of the staff. This lack of hospitality only served to exacerbate our frustration with the situation. Overall, my experience at Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa was far from satisfactory. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the preferred guest manager , I believe his name was Angel, his remedy was to offer us to a complimentary one day stay at this resort FROM PHILADELPHIA. (Flight each way 3.5 hours at our expense , transportation from Cancun 2 hours at our expense ) As a guest who had hoped for a much better experience, I urge the resort to address these issues promptly and take steps to improve the quality of service and accommodations offered at the resort.

Dates June 12-18: I have traveled to Mexico (Cancun and Tulum) several times before and this was by far the worst experience. We stayed at Dreams Tulum for 6 nights for a wedding with 81 guests and my sisters birthday! We had a swim out Preferred Room. So, we already spent over 3k for the room. They did not greet the guest with champagne or anything upon arrival. The room smelled of mildew upon arrival. We had a swim out Preferred Room. So, we already spent over 3k for the room. The room smelled of mildew upon arrival. They provided incense in the bathroom. The entire resort is dated. We returned from the club off the resort at 2am and other guests from the resort came to our room to talk and get in the swimout pool. At that time, we were RACIALLY profiled by the night manager EBNER. Ebner stated that we had to leave the resort because we had drugs. This was the first time I was ever accused of something like this in Mexico. Ebner THREATENED US with the police. He stated the police was on the way to our rooms. I allowed Ebner and security to check the room and our belongings. He found no drugs. He stated he could smell the drugs. He made us come to the lobby stating the police is on the way. Ebner stated i had to pay a $250 deep cleaning fee and documents at 4AM. The situation occurred on a Thursday we did not check out until Tuesday. He FORCED and Threatened me INTO signing documents or he told us we would be kicked off the property in the middle of Tulum at 4AM. PICTURES BELOW! NO one else besides Ebner complained of this issue even the housekeeping staff. We were never warned WE WERE THREATENED several times by Ebner. During checkout, I spoke to the front desk manager on the following Tuesday during check out he stated we are being charged for a deep cleaning fee. I told him to go check out the room he refused. This place is corrupt and expensive. Do not travel to DREAMS Tulum. The rooms look nothing like the website. The room numbers were confusing it required alot of walking the resort is spaced out. When it storms the elevators stop working and some rooms flood. Food is mediocre. The specialty restaurants had such a long waitlist you could barely get reservations. Once at the specialty restaurants it tasted like the food had been sitting. It's a scam. If you are a preferred member there is only one bar on the resort with top shelf alcohol. No REAL ENTERTAINMENT except the DJ in the sky bar did a great job and fire show on Thursday! Bartender Raul was very pleasant. You get nothing special for the price. The bad out weighs the good here. Especially when you're spending your hard earned money to have an amazing vacation and wedding! Cancun is much better with better options! Do not jeopardize your livelihood or spend your vacation here.

It was a nice resort but not perfect. The drinks were pretty watered down the staff were semi attentive as long as you were tipping them every ten seconds. The food overall was good had difficulty with the specialized restaurants and reservations. They could not always accommodate our large group or gave us hard time while doing so. The rooms weee nice and clean. The facilities overall were clean and well kept. We booked an excursion. With them the excursion was late for pickup and some items were taken. Staff was helpful when locals called to try and ransom my property back (unsuccessful in redemption). The nightly entertainment was mediocre at best but when your in an all inclusive resort you make do. Karaoke night was fun. The club in the evening was fun the music was pretty much the same each night though but when you chose to have fun you do.

I stayed at Dreams Tulum for four nights and would definitely go back! To get to the resort, you fly into Cancun and take transport for about two hours. When we arrived at the hotel's beautiful lobby, we were given welcome drinks and were offered a ride to our room along with the tour of the premises. Our driver told us his favorite restaurants and pointed out the bar and the "sports bar." For $200, we upgraded our room to a swim out (which I definitely recommend). Our room was spacious for the two of us with two big beds. The rooms may be old but, honestly, were in great shape and felt very clean. Our ac didn't work well but I wasn't surprised by that. The room stayed a bit warm but it wasn't uncomfortable. There are events all the time and we loved Ricky's games and dance moves. We spent a lot of time by the pool with our favorite server, Alfredo, who was so kind! The staff here works so hard! As far as food, it was ok. It wasn't great but wasn't bad. The omelette in the morning at the buffet was nice as were the fresh fruit and juices. Our favorite meal was the hibachi. Book that in advance, you don't want to miss it! The French restaurant was also good but I felt a bit rushed. We loved having a smoothie bar that turned into an ice cream shop later in the day! All in all, I would definitely go back to Dreams Tulum!

The hotel service and the cafe were both wonderful. We did not have a choice about this resort because we just tagged along while my cousin attended a wedding at the Resort. It was our first time in Tulum and we have been to Cabo before so we were excited for Tulum. We landed late and got in around 9pm and they made you take a seat after your golf cart ride and answer a bunch of questions and activities we would like to sign up for. At that point we were all tired and hungry and I did not like how checking in would take so long. I feel like it's like that every time we come to Mexico. Something about the food and drinks at every bar and restaurant lacked flavor. I thought I left my taste buds at home. I felt like we definitely were starving when we were here the entire time. The alcohol and sugar is different than the states and it always burns my throat. This definitely was a low budget resort and we just learned about the different tiers. I am so sorry to give this one star, but it was just such a disappointment. The ocean view had so much floating debris in the water you couldn't get around it and we did go on the hottest month in June. I need to be better about saying "No" to a trip where the reviews say it all.

This is a nice inclusive experience near Tulum. The staff was friendly, and the amenities were nice. We checked in at 2:30am, and were able to order room service. It arrived in 30 minutes. Our room was nice, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also pretty nice, and the shower was amazing! They supply you with everything you need. The shampoo also has conditioner in it, so if you like separate I would bring your own. On the last morning our toilet did stop working for now reason. Other than that the room was very nice. We also had a wonderful ocean view, and a hammock on our balcony. The drinks and food were also pretty good! The Mexican hot chocolate was amazing! Now I'm spoiled when staying in Mexico with various other hotels. If this was the first one I had been too it would have gotten 5 stars. The pools and beach were beautiful.

I'll be honest from the get go. I am no refined, cultured individual like most people who would be staying at fancy resorts such as this. Im a lowly Midwest uncultured swine by most of the patrons standards so I'll try to frame everything from my personal perspective and I'm sure it'll pale in comparison to the upper echelon who I dared try to coalesce with their superiority. Anyways, here it goes. I unfortunately read into too many reviews on Yelp and trip advisor about this place before arriving. I got nervous about all the bad reviews and had second thoughts. After 6 days/5 nights, those negative reviews really are just flat out, wrong. Here's a couple things to keep in mind, even though this is coming from me, an uncultured weenie from the Midwest. Check your ego and privilege at the door. Those people around us who had the most complaints while we were there were those who had the elitism that just permeated the whole resort. I couldn't believe how many people were rude to this super helpful and nice staff. The employees were always courteous and super helpful for us! One other helpful thing might be to understand that you're the product and they have this system down pat. Let them take control and just go along for the ride!! Also, tip the staff well! I'll highlight a few other things that I noticed as a very uncultured, extremely mediocre Midwest slime who is not worldly. The food was excellent. Most reviews talked about how bad most of the restaurants were and I couldn't disagree more. All of them, and I mean all of them were absolutely fine to above average. I found a ton of great things to eat and if you can't, then there's something wrong with you. Also, I was super surprised by the variety and heathy options in the world cafe. One thing I didn't like is how other patrons would "claim" a spot by the pool or on the beach for literal hours. They wouldn't even be present but they would get super upset if someone else tried to take their spot. I have no problem with claiming a spot but when they leave for hours without being present, that's just silly. Tulum and dreams resort are a super convenient location. Sure it's a 1.5 hr ride from the airport but it was worth it. All our excursions and day trip into tulum were so close and easy to navigate. In regards to the excursions and such, the concierge and front desk staff are amazingly helpful. I couldn't believe how nice they are considering how entitled some of the guests can be. Speaking more of the staff, I've been on a cruise as well as having gone to Italy, and I can't speak highly enough of this staff and really all the interactions I've had with hospitality staff, this one was far superior. Again, take this with a grain of salt as I'm ignorant of the world and uncivilized compared to most of you good people reading this absurdly long review. Overall, I think this place deserves a 5/5. Keep in mind where you are and what the area has to offer. Also, like another review stated, this area is poor so you can't expect The Ritz or whatever fancy people stay at.

I have no point of reference as this is the first time I stayed at an all-inclusive resort as an adult (with kids and with our parents) so I'll just go based on how I felt overall when I left, and I felt pretty darn good. When you first arrive at Dreams Tulum, it's beautiful. The landscaping and grounds are well-kept, the staff is friendly and greets you kindly, and as you walk out the back of the lobby you walk into what you'd imagine to be picturesque of a resort. It's the sort of lobby balcony you'll want to take romantic or family photos as a memory. Be sure you do, we didn't and I regret it. I love all the iguanas they have roaming around the grounds. They are more scared of us, so if you're scared of them just let them be and they will run away. My son wanted to hug most of them and gave them names which was pretty adorable. I love that they have golf carts to help you get around the resort if you need it. There were times when my dad's knees were hurting and he needed to take the cart to get to dinner since his room was far from the restaurants. It was also very beneficial the night it downpoured and we all crammed in to get back to our rooms! The day we checked-in we had to wait a while for our rooms. My husband and I were the last to receive our room and when we did we were disappointed. It was in a slightly secluded part of the resort, the room was very dark, dingy and had a smell about it not to mention lots of mosquitoes. We went back to the front desk and Angel was quick to help us find another room. They resort was booked and the only one they had available was an oceanview and we had to pay for the upgrade, but there was no way I was staying in the first room. Angel was by far my favorite front desk agent. He was on point with helping us with anything we needed and even though he knew my husband and I had been married for over 10 years he still had a "Honeymoon" sign put up on our door and sent a bottle of champagne to our room because he knew the kids were staying with the grandparents. It still makes me laugh to this day. He checked in with us whenever we saw him and was quick to provide anything we needed. Staff in general here are extremely kind, courteous, and quick to help. I wish they staffed the restaurants a bit better. There seemed to be a shortage of help in this department, but more on that later. Our second room was beautiful and modern and had an incredible view and a hammock on the balcony. The one thing I noticed was that our bathroom was installed different than our parents. Our parents had better water pressure, got actual hot water and had a better working toilet. I ended up having to go to their room to wash my hair, but that was my only real complaint. All three of the rooms were clean, a great size and maintained well daily. I love the easy access to the beach and how simple they made it to get towels and set up your things on the beach for the day. They have a small little playground on the beach for the kids, but they had a lot of wasps around it so we kept our distance. The pools were also well made and my daughter spent a good amount of time there while our son enjoyed beach and sea life. They do have a kids club for children 3+. Our daughter only attended one afternoon, but that's because she was too excited to see her grandparents (we live in different states). I love all the activities they have each day for them. I'm sure she would have enjoyed it if she went more. The afternoon and nightly entertainment for kids was awesome. That crew has some much energy and they give everything they have everyday and every night! Everything from dancing to acrobats. It was impressive. There are a few independent companies that work on the resort that make it easy to either go sailing directly from the beach or to book excursions. We did both. Sailing was included in the resort fee so we went twice and it was perfect. 20 mins out on the water. Excursions can be booked through the lobby. They are pricey, so you might want to book in advance on your own. Coco Cafe and the ice cream/smoothie shop was frequented most by us. They had the best staff and the yummiest stuff - naturally :). I still dream about my Coco Moka iced coffee. The coconut gelato was my fave. That said, I was disappointed overall with the food and the fact they only had two restaurants open a night. They don't take reservations and there was one night we waited 2.5 hours just to eat and then another hour for food. They were very short-staffed. The food itself was ok. Nothing to write home about. As a vegetarian, we always found something, but after the second day it was the same thing over-and-over with no variety. Water bottles always readily available. All-in-all, I left very relaxed and happy. I'm not sure if I would stay at Dreams again, or any all-inclusive for that matter, but that's just because I like to have more food options!

We arrived late on Sunday. Check in was easy, a lot of things to sign. Didn't give us any info on the resort or where to meet with concierge. A family of 6 adults and a 2 year old, 3 separate rooms. Employees were very nice and friendly. Restaurants were OK nothing to brag about. The rooms were OK but on the warm side, our temp stayed at 77 and wouldn't get cooler. 3 different trys to fix ended with water line being cut and water everywhere including on our clothes. Moved us to another room was also hot. Moved to another room and was about 74. No comps or real apologies. Seaweed was awful. Pools were nice and not crowded, plenty of chairs and towels. I would not go back.

We have been on 6 trips now as members. We have had an issue every single time but keep trying other properties hoping for a better experience. We upgraded to Diamond membership a few months ago. When we arrived, we were greeted by a front desk person who did not know we were members, we were not given the room upgrade we were promised, we did not receive our standard leisure cash or even a pool bag. We were invited to return to the UVC office in the morning to discuss the mistakes. When we got there we expressed our disappointment and sadness that we feel tricked. We've spent a lot of money at this point and just want to have the experience we bought. The UVC host and Manager said they would work on a resolve and in the meantime asked if there was anything they could do. I asked for a case of water to my room and the pool bag. I still have nor received either, and at this point I have asked at least 6 different people. The next day the "resolve" they came up with was to.ask us to upgrade our membership again. We declined. To add insult to injury my husband and I were assaulted by another guest on the property. We reported it to UVC staff that was nearby and they called the security manager. They told us that a report would be made so at least we had proof that it happened in case anything escalated. That report never happened. We spoke to at least other staff about that with no resolve. Once again, not happy with

Of all of the places we've stayed between isla and riveria maya, this might be the worst all inclusive. Staff that don't care, are unattentative, and otherwise obnoxious with their attitude. Save your money and stay at a true 5 star resort.

I truly enjoyed my stay here at this all inclusive resort. Yes it may not look like the pictures online anymore. There's a little wear and tear due to the age and weather but for the purpose of vacationing still had an amazing time. Check in took a lot longer than I thought. The line was long and and it takes a bit of time to get them all the information they needed. Once I finally checked in they showed me to my room and carried my luggage there which was very nice. We got adjoining rooms for our girls trip and the rooms were pretty pleasant to stay in. They were clean and as spacious as it gets for a hotel room. The grounds were Beautiful once it stopped raining. Granted we went during rainy season. There is so much to do on the resort that we didn't leave except to go to an excursion one of the days There is plenty of entertainment going on throughout the day or places to eat or relaxing at one of their 2 pools or going to the ocean front. The food was delicious everywhere we got a chance to eat. The rice everywhere was my favorite. Seaside grill had some of the best steak and salmon I have had. The French place and Italian place had great options and it was hard to narrow down what you wanted to eat but the best part is you could order whatever. I loved the breakfast buffet, I could honestly eat chilaquilles all day every day. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They tried to help you out with whatever you needed. Great hospitality. Shoutout to all the bartenders that make drinks all day all night.

1st time in Mexico and came to this hotel for a wedding. We booked a prefer suite for our stay, it was horrible. The toilet clogged, the shower door didn't close all the way so the water leaked to the rest of the bathroom, the tub had hair from previous guest. The bathroom had a strong smell of sewer which I'm sure it wasn't new. The had incense you could burn to help with the smell. The service was not good either, we encountered two wonderful staff members William the bellman and the other was the guy in the omelette station in the world cafe, everyone else was short and rude. The food was terrible, we waited to go into El Patio restaurant that opens at 6:30pm it was 7pm and no one was there, there were no signs to let us know it was going to be closed. The gym has good workout equipment for a nice workout during vacation. The outside of the resort is absolutely beautiful stunning at first sight but everything else fails!

**PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT THIS LOCATION FOR A WEDDING** I want to make it clear that this review is for the wedding department only- specifically the photo department. We had an amazing vacation. The staff and the food are excellent! The wedding department was another story. I would not advise getting married here! Starting out, planning was fine but EVERYTHING was an upgrade. Including having lights. If we didn't "upgrade" to the cheapest lighting selection, which was almost $2,000, we wouldn't have had any lights. The coordinator, Mariana, was amazing- so helpful! We paid $3,000 for pictures. I know that's less than in the states but our drunk wedding guests took better photos and on top of that, they DID NOT edit the photos. Most of the pictures were over exposed or the poses were not great. Not at all what they advertised. When asked them to fix it, they said they would 're-edit' them. They were not any better. Luckily, my husband has software to edit the photos. But we paid money for this and now we have to do it ourselves. We now have to edit our own photos, pay to have the canvas stretched, and make our own album with all of our pictures. The fees continue to add up 4 months later. And a slideshow was included. The first one was something that we could have made ourselves. When we asked them to fix it, the second was not any better. They sent us a 7 page PDF with the pictures numbers. We had to type our selections individually in excel. Our package came with 400 photos and they took 700 photos. We struggled to find 400 we liked. What a joke. And of the 400 we selected, ONLY 90 were put in our album. In our slideshow, only about 40 pictures were used for that. We were told we would get a canvas print. When we got it, it was just the canvas. We had to pay to have it stretched. The entire experience was a joke. We spent about $20,000 and had about 50 guests stay for our wedding. Because of the forced upgrades, we had a very basic wedding. We didn't have any fun decorations and no flowers. We are still spending money to fix what they did not do. Please do your homework before using this resort. We had a terrible experience with the photo department. The location is gorgeous, that's what saved the experience for us.

Had a blast. Came here for a wedding and it was an awesome stay. We stayed 5 days and the service was awesome all five day. This was my first all inclusive and it was something else. I would do all inclusive everywhere if it were an option. Great food, awesome views and enough to do that you don't need to leave the resort.

Terrible decision to come here. Sales people don't leave you alone. Totally ruined our vacation.

We stayed here last week. The check in system is horrible, they pressure you into having breakfast the next morning to teach you about becoming a VIP member. They sounded like car sales men. BE AWARE don't fall into this --its almost like a timeshare, they just call it different. Pools were decent--vomit in the swim-out room. Had to change rooms 2 days in because our toilet was clogged upon arrival. Maintenance went 3 different times. AC was not working . Diamond property? Not a pleasant stay

Don't believe the negative reviews. This place is great when you compare all inclusive resorts. The place was beautiful and clean and the service was great on all fronts. If you've been to any all Inclusive resort, you'll know all drinks and food are mediocre at best. It's to be expected. You literally get what you pay for and that's not exclusive to this resort. That being said, Tulum is a foodie's paradise. You want an authentic experience don't do all inclusive or leave the resort for the best food and drinks. This place is still great considering all of that. The best food you'll get is at the actual restaurants with their main menu. The Sea Side Grill had some good ceviche, and if you need stronger drinks, ask for a double.

Was not what I expected for a five star resort, all inclusive couples only not this resort only has couples only pool if you get the rooms that have the swim out out of the lower roomers otherwise the regular pools are shared with the families. I was also disappointed with the room service it took more than an hour the two times we ordered the food was cold. The Buffay food did not changed. It was the same all five days we were there. The other restaurants, they have two at a time open and for the tally when we waited 45 minutes I really expected more out of this hotel. The way was described to me their website, what our travel agent told us, but I would not book again and this resort absolutely NOT

Pleasant stay. I'd recommend this hotel to others for sure! The only reason this isn't a 5 review is because we couldn't check in on-time and that almost made us late for a show in Playa del Carmen. Also, we were asked to join the 90-min talk about their properties the morning after we checked in. It ended up being a 3hr ordeal. Now for the good things.. Yes we saw coons. (Once in 6 days) But just realize that you are in the wilderness, and they don't bother you. Loved the wildlife here actually... especially the sights and sounds of the beautiful birds. Drinks were neither strong or weak for us. We sometimes asked for doubles and that did the trick. Loved the "Tiki Lokis" at the pool. Best mixed drink I've ever had in my life, but only one guy knows how to make them. Also really liked the sweet "Mango Tango" drinks. French restaurant was my fave. Food was delish. The Asian restaurant was also pretty good! I'd skip the Mexican restaurant if I go back. The night we went there it was taco night and they were fine. The rice was harder than we would have liked. Our room was serviced every day we requested it to be. No issues there. Our room was clean and nothing was broken or falling apart. Loved all the different entertainment options from dance parties to outdoor karaoke and an outdoor breakdance show.

I am only giving a 5 star review because the bartenders at the preferred bar, Israel and Benito, were absolutely amazing. They were fun, friendly, sweet, accommodating, and made us the best drinks. I highly recommend the "Israel special" if you have the chance to go. I adore their energy and kindness.

Never again! We booked our stay with a third party. We had originally booked 2 rooms for 5 people. A few days before arriving at Dreams, I called them to confirm that each room had 2 queen beds. Angel, the person I spoke to in Spanish stated that our reservation was for only 3 people. I explained that I had it in writing that we booked for 5 people. He told me not to worry about it that once we got to the resort that they would resolve it and it would be no problem. Long story short, once we arrived we waited about an hour to get our rooms, we had to pay an extra $1400 because according to them we only booked 2 rooms with 3 adults. The front desk customer service was terrible. I spoke to Angel, and he said that he had never spoken to him. I then asked him to speak to his manager, he said he was the hotel manager and that their was nobody above him. Turns out he lied, later I found out that Ruben is the hotel manager. No apologies about the confusion. Take it or leave it type of deal. We got our rooms, they smelled like mold. Pretty strong smell in both rooms. They were completely booked, therefore, we couldn't get any other rooms. My son ended up getting food poisoning. It was pretty horrible. Save yourself money and don't stay here. It's not worth the money. I woke up with bites. Not sure where the bites came from. Save yourself money, and do not stay here.

I came here for a friends 30th birthday in 2017 and we had an absolutely fabulous time! The pool is so nice, and the swim up bar is nice and shady and the dry side of the pool bar has swing seating! The energy was great and the staff were super friendly and helpful! There were things to do on-site nightly; and they have a space with all the NFL Football games, which was nice for me to get to watch! Go Giants! There are a bunch of restaurants on-site, although I believe not all of them are available to the basically all-inclusive. There might be a premium all-inclusive options but I don't recall. The food was delicious with various cuisines and so remember that we had to make a reservation for the Italian spot. Also...24/7 room service including beers! Coronitas for all!! The beach is beautiful and you can walk along the coast where there is a small Cenotes hole in the water. A couple showed me which rock to jump into the hole. Very cool! There was also a little swing area on the beach as well as cabanas that you can rent with wait staff. Lots of fun! We were also able to get taxis to/from when we wanted to go into town, but we found everything we needed at Dreams. I definitely recommend this resort. The rooms were big and all had a balcony! The price was affordable for our group too! Enjoy your trip!

I enjoyed our stay at Dreams. The service we got from the bartenders Rolando and Enrique who were working the lobby bar was beyond amazing! They went out of their way to make sure we had drinks that some of the other bartenders refused to make us. They ALWAYS took care of us and were very professional. They had such big smiles on their faces any time they saw us walk by and were always conversating with us and asking about our stay. 5 starts to them! Thank you so much Rolando and Enrique for being so awesome!!!!

Let's start by saying out of all the resorts we have stayed this is by far the worst. We had 5 of our group with the Shits. Our showers glass doors and shitter doors would not close right. Balcony screen door you would have to fight to open and close. Closet doors rollers suck. The Fiestas they hold, do not accommodate all the Guest at the resort. Listening to other Guest the Food is not that good at all. Our Personal taste of Food was not good. For Breakfast I survived on Bacon Sandwich, They open and Close Restaurants as they please. Leaving you and your Family with what could be an hour or 2 of waiting to eat or room service. Burgers and Dogs at the pool are OK and they close early. Our Wedding services and all was good , so I give it a Star. Costco should have done a better revue of this place before offering it as part of their list. Would NOT recommend this place to no one.

This place was great. All inclusive resort at all hours of the day and night. They had plenty of bars to go to and plenty of restaurants to eat it. I wished they had some place we could eat right along the beach/water. We always had breakfast in the room since the beds were so nice it was hard to leave. It took generally about 30 minutes to get the food which was pretty quick. The room: we had a pool swim up room which was big and had a nice waterfall shower and a bathtub big for 2. We did not use the swim up pool and I did not see anyone else really use it. I would caution choosing this room because I feel like it was a waste of paying extra for something we didn't need. We always went to the main pool since it was easier to get drinks and food. The food was great except for one location. The Chinese restaurant was not that great. Service was really slow. It took about 2 hours to eat. Everything else was good. Service was excellent and everyone was friendly. Checking in was a little confusing but we did try to check in early. The buffet had really good food and if you are looking for a particular dish ask someone. Unlimited vacations club- they wanted us to do a timeshare/ club presentation where they said if we do the 1.5 hours tour we would get certain discounts. If you choose this haggle with them on what they offer. I did the tour for the duration and said no. I walked away and got what the promised. We saved about 150 on a tour. The amenities-the Pool is nice and the ocean is gorgeous. They had a tennis court (did not use) and a spa (did not use). I wish they had a jacuzzi but I understand it can get too hot at times. I am not sure I would come back again. It was a great experience and I would speak great things about the hotel.

The gf wanted a tropical vacation; I wanted to go to burningman. Guess who got to choose? Since I've been going to the burn for two decades, I figured why not change it up. Check in seemed easy, and when we arrived the room was ready. As has been stated in other reviews, ur gonna get pressured to be part of a VIP meet up. Since this isn't my first rodeo, I knew it was to get us to buy into a time share. But before I go into detail let me preface this review by reminding you that this is a poor country, and the hard working staff earns less per day than a bottle of mediocre wine at BevMo. None of you would last a week working here, so be easy on the staff. I'd be an a55hole too if I had to wear a uniform in sweltering heat while listening to some fat midwestern bridge troll whining about her mini fridge not keeping her White Claws cold.... Some things to remember here champ, so listen up 1) you are in Mexico. Sometimes sh!t works, sometimes it doesn't. Everything in this area is sketchy, and the power grid is no exception. If you want things to work all day stay at home 2) it's tropical which means heat. And moisture. Moisture and heat means mold and some musty smells. Sorry if all those episodes of Gilligans Island you watched didn't prepare you for this. 3) it doesn't look like the online photos! Yea, well neither do you in your Tinder profile. Same goes for the ads... sure they exaggerate a little bit but you did too. 150 pounds? Sure you are....back in '82 The grounds are beautiful. Are they perfect? No, but I come from SoCal, so I'm used to homeless camps bigger than this place. Yea there are animals roaming the place, but I'd rather step over an iguana than a meth head passed out on my driveway. This isn't the Hyatt, so don't expect that. Yea, the place is a little worn out, but again it's mexico, (see #1 above) and honestly it gives the place some charm. Our room was comfortable and spacious. To everyone whining about the hot water, two things to remember: sometimes the shower valves get put in backwards (see #1 above.) just turn the handle the other way. Second, there is one big boiler, so if water pressure and or heat isn't up to par, try waiting until later. The bed was amazing and I've not slept this well in a long time. Housekeeping is unpredictable; deal with it The restaurants: 1) World grill (the buffet) It's a buffet. 'Nuff said. Is it the Wynn in Vegas? No, but it's ok. The fresh mozzarella cheese was a nice surprise and the pizza is made on-site and is amazingly good. Each night has a different themed cuisine too. Breakfast is typical: omelette bar, pastries, and various breakfast fare. 2) Portofino Pretty average. Think "Mexican Olive Garden" and you will understand. 3) Hitsumi Asian I liked this place. Average to above. Definitely go 4) Gohan Sushi Limited rolls and appetizers. I would have liked more variety. Good quality fish, and flavorful too. 5) the Hibachi place (don't remember the name) Absolutely fantastic. Sadly you need reservations though. Had that not been the case, I would have eaten there more than once. And the portions are generous, unlike all the other places 6) El Patio Horrible. The name is appropriate too, as it tastes like it was made on the floor of a patio. Jesus tap dancing Christ, how does a place IN F@%KING mexico F@%K up mexican food?' Run don't walk from this gastrointestinal dumpster fire 7) Bordeaux Above average French restaurant, given where you are. A native of France may not think so, but the closest I've been to France is Paris, Kentucky, so maybe don't take my word for it. 8) Seaside grill Easy and convenient, and a pretty lax dress code, so perfect when you emerge from the ocean, covered in seaweed, lookin like the Creature from the Black Lagoon 9) CoCo cafe Don't channel your inner soccer mom looking for a pumpkin spiced latte, cuz your gonna get a one way ticket on the disappointment express. That being said, everything on their menu is pretty good. Off to the side is a smoothie and ice cream bar. Pretty meh, but meh ice cream is better than no ice cream The alcoholic drinks at all the bars: I actually have no idea as I don't drink. Tbh, I'm allergic to alcohol, because when I drink I break out in felonies! There are a couple pools on the property, and if you're looking for quiet relaxation, you won't find it here. One always has some entertainment like water aerobics, which is awesome if you are into that stuff (no judgment here) or if you like to have two high energy guys armed with whistles and blazingly loud Latin electronic music teaching you how to do the Roomba. The other pool has kids. Hey, I love kids... I was one once, but an adult pool would be nice. Still, looking back on it, the alcohol fueled adults were louder than a space shuttle launch. There is a direct correlation between number of drinks consumed and the decibel levels of drunk women. No Becky, I don't want to hear about your last pedicure

The resort itself shows age and really needs updating and repairs, and the layout isn't ideal, with the guest rooms laid out in a line rather than in a C shape, which means that some guests have a LONG walk to the restaurants, pool, and finally, the beach. We were fortunate to have a room near the aforementioned 3, but not a swim-out, which we prefer. We met a family with a room in the last building who had a swim- out but they lamented how long of a walk they had to the amenities. The spa is nice; not at all comparable to Secrets Maroma Beach, but decent. The hydrotherapy circuit is basic. No cold water bucket for use before or between the sauna and steamroom. The sauna is too hot. When I went, I barely made it to 5 minutes. My friend went a second time 2 days later (I couldn't bear to try again) and she said that she was given a wet washcloth to cover her mouth and that helped. We weren't offered that the first time. The 80 minute hot stone massage is wonderful; Nancy did a great job. Pastora did a great HydraCalm facial. The showers and shower products are great. The dinners at El Patio, Bordeaux, and Portofino were memorable in the best way, but SKIP Gohan. The sushi is awful. But what's really made this a great vacation is the STAFF. From Alejandro and Gabriela at the Seaside Grille, to Laura at the pool and beach, Alma, our incredibly adorable and wonderful waitress at Himitsu and Bordeaux, and Benito ("Benito Mojito" as he refers to himself) and Salvador serving up the beverages on the Preferred section of the beach, and Jonathan, our super-friendly and personable concierge who went over and beyond for us. THEY are who make Dreams Tulum special!

Not happy with everything mainly the front desk. After multiple flight layovers and even notifying them that we were running late, they gave away our room. Upon arrival they tried to downgrade my room and then once I showed them my CLIA card and let them know that I was a travel agent and I wanted a manager then they decided to come up with more ideas. They charged me another 150 to upgrade to the swim out otherwise we had to downgrade. Overall not recommended

The website oversells this place hard. Website is beautiful and the personnel are awesome but the resort property is deteriorating and the amenities and food are subpar. Do not be fooled by the amazing website photos as those are taken when the resort was new 20 years ago. The service people are awesome and great to talk to and friendly. However, owners and management haven't invested further in the property and things are breaking example: broken outlets in the bathroom closet lights that won't turn off bath tubs for your baby won't heat the water and Bathroom doors are falling off. The food is selected to create as much margin as possible and McDonald's would be a better option. No food service at the pool. Walk up buffet hamburgers and hot dogs that have been sitting for hours are the only pool options. Management use the trick of turning a meeting room in to a restaurant which then lacks an experience for there guest. My theory is that go to a resort that is an optional all inclusive to get the normal/expected amenities and service of a normal resort. Because this all-inclusive the owners and management provided less quality and services than an standard resort. I wish mangers and owners would invest more into this resort to match the quality of the people who work it. For credibility I worked in the hospitality industry for 6 years as a bell man at a Resort and my experience here was dismal. With that I'm a bit sad that I chose this places to treat my parents to their first all inclusive. In the future I will not be revisiting and hope owner reinvest in this resort.

My husband and I booked a 7 night honeymoon trip to Tulum, Mexico through a Southwest Vacation package. We are so happy we found Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa because we were treated like VIPs during our entire stay! We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite which was a large corner room on the top floor with pool and oceanfront views from wall to wall. There were 2 outdoor patio spaces, an indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, and fully stocked minibar all in our room. As part of the Honeymoon Package we received Preferred Club check-in and Concierge services with the following complimentary perks: breakfast in bed with mimosas, all-day cabana rental with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, spa day with massages and facials, private beachfront dinner for 2, and access to private beach, bars, and restaurants. It was such an incredible value on top of the other all-inclusive aspects of the resort. Food was rather hit or miss, it really depended on what you ordered. Some dishes were exquisite with offerings like octopus, rabbit, and rack of lamb where others fell short such as overcooked salmon or inaccurate menu descriptions (ex. wedge potato instead of baked potato). El Patio, the Mexican restaurant, was our absolute favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! They did not take reservations and due to COVID some restaurants were not open on certain days or open at all during our stay, which made it somewhat difficult to get a table if you didn't come at the right waves/rush of people. The servers worked very hard but I think could have benefited from other restaurants being open so they wouldn't be as burdened to turn tables over quickly. We had incredible service during our stay! Silverio was our server at El Patio and for our private dining experience and he went above and beyond to make us feel so special and celebrated on our honeymoon. He even arranged a special romantic table for us on our last day of the trip filled with rose petals and candles and offered some great conversation and service. We hope to return to Dreams Tulum and see him again! A few days into the trip, we decided to stick mostly to beer, wine, and champagne. The tropical cocktails were delicious, but overly sweet, and we often had to ask for double or triple the amount of alcohol because even the shots tasted watered down. Perhaps this is somewhat normal for an all-inclusive, but we wished we didn't have to worry about tampered alcohol. Overall it was a great value and experience!

Dreams (if you like Nightmares) This all inclusive resort is in a beautiful area and it's a shame that Hyatt isn't interested in saving it (since it cannot continue to function at its current level). The food is quite literally the worst I've ever attempted to eat - cold and bland with absolutely no care put into it (especially the room service - don't even bother). We attended a destination wedding there in September and the event was a nightmare from the start. Waited over 3 hours before we could finally get into our over-priced room, wedding in the "Secret Garden" was a "Devil's Delight" as they had no shade, no misters, nothing to keep the 90 guests in attendance even close to comfortable...and it was clear, that, just like the food, they didn't care! Several guests were ill after the wedding from pure heat exhaustion. While our room had a beautiful ocean view and was very comfortable on the first night, we were sweating bullets by the final night and they didn't even bother to clean it two of the four days we were there. It just kept getting worse and worse and worse...and - you get the idea. This was a very expensive stay (well over $4,000.00) for four nights that had been planned for months. I wish I could end on a positive note; however, there is just nothing good to say about this resort other than the location - what a waste!

The good: Beautiful grounds, two massive pools, one adult and one family. Oddly enough, the swim up bar is located in the family pool. Go figure. Rooms are large, we had a garden view room. Many burned out lights. Furniture and decor are dated. Shower is nice, also had jacuzzi tub. Tv has one station. One! A cartoon about sea turtles played in rotation 24/7. WiFi is about 24mbps. Did I mention the turtle station! All you can drink. Bartenders are nice. Some top shelf liquor but make sure to ask otherwise you'll get the crappiest tequila ever made in your margarita. Eating. There is a way to get food 24/7 whether it's at one of the restaurants or room service. They will also bring beers, cokes or waters to the room anytime you ask. The food is mediocre at best. Often my food was cold or tiny. The best thing in the entire menu in any restaurant was the grilled salmon at the Seaside Grill. Also the omelette grill is nice in the morning at the World Cafe Buffet. The fish if the day was Talapia. Every freaking day! The guacamole was always good and fresh as well. I lived the hotdogs and cheeseburgers at the Barefoot Grill poolside. That was a nice offering. The ice cream is incredible rich and good at the Coco Cafe. The place is beautiful, it's a shame they don't care enough about the food to make it a truly 5 star resort. If I was to base it on the food alone, I'd give it a 1 star. The bad: There were mouse turds on the ledge beside our table when we ate lunch at the Seaside Grill. I know it happens but someone should be aware of it and make sure that area is cleaned. Nasty! Most of the food is below mediocre. Far below. I've explained most above. Not one single restaurant was impressive. We tried for the first time to eat lunch at the World Cafe Buffet and there was literally nothing worth eating. Cold tilapia they reheat on grill was the main protein. There was ole beef bbq as they call it to make tacos. We ended up walking out to go get salmon at the Seaside Grill. Greens Fees, greens fees, greens fees! On the website and every brochure they claim to give you free greens fees. Don't buy into it. Yes the greens fees are free but they charge $125 US per person to rent a golf cart and $50 per person for clubs. So much for free. What a misleading thing to advertise. Technically they are telling the truly but realistically it's a ripoff! Don't bother golfing here. Everyone here lies. They will literally look you in the eyes and tell you a lie that is blatantly obviously not true. Here just one example. I asked the concierge if the greens fees were free. He said no. It's a misprint. The. He backtracked and said yes they are but the fee would be $350 with all the rentals. That's just a scam. The concierge, manager, several of the staff told me straight up lies. Really insults my intelligence. I was so disappointed in that. The ugly: The Vacation presentation.we were bribed with two massages and a romantic dinner for two hours in exchange for a 90 minute tour, breakfast and presentation. After nearly two hours and some strong mean sales pitches. 3 in all with 3 different managers. We were finally released from our torture. They can call it anything they want but in reality it's still a time share presentation. It's NOT worth it. Pay for you own massage.

Dreams Resort was an excellent experience! The EVENT TEAM made our stay SO MUCH FUN!! Ester, Pahlo, Ricky & Pablo are FABULOUS!! We can't thank the enough! We also had great service from the bar tenders, servers, maid service and coffee bar staff. The room was very enjoyable and the grounds are well maintained. The beach is a little rocky, however we found a rock free path to large sand area. Water shoes are helpful.

Subpar resort at best. Mess hall style dining, bland food and everything is deep fried. even when the menu says "fresh slices of tuna". No, it's deep fried. and sometimes cold. And to add insult to injury, the worst customer service I have ever experienced. By nearly everyone all week. I believe they were contracted in and not Hyatt or Dreams employees. The positive....? The view of the ocean. I would like to speak with a Hyatt representative as I don't think they would approve.

Visiting for my son's wedding which was beautiful. Planner & staff did a great job. The resort was beautiful. Staff very nice. Food was absolute HORRIBLE!!!! Every meal I left still hungry except the reception dinner. It was the one good meal there. Drinks watered down of course. But that was to be expected. Not worth all inclusive price at all. Majority of the staff do not speak English so it was very hard communicating our needs. Beach was small but maintained. Our room was very nice. The only issue was water dripping from the ceiling & a couple of days the room smelled of sewage. We were approached by staff for Hilton properties to review the resort & give feedback for $300. Total bait & switch. It was a 90+ min timeshare presentation. Which I asked before accepting & told this is no timeshare presentation. Spa was wonderful. Great massage, atmosphere & service. Went to desk to book excursion. I only wanted to do ATV which wasn't available without booking half day tour. I finally asked about shopping & was told a shuttle will take us for free. They didn't volunteer this info. We were told 3 hrs but when we were dropped off we were told a different return time which would make us late for reservations. We had to get everyone on the shuttle to agree on leaving earlier. We were told there were high end stores but we only saw vendors & small shops. No directions, just basically dropped off. Entertainment was so so at best. For the Mexican 4th of July celebration you had to purchase a bottle for seating. Why would we purchase a bottle at an all inclusive resort??? I would return to Tulum but not Dreams.

Visited this location during the summer of this year through Costco Travel. The grounds are misleading for this acclaimed 4-star hotel recently purchased by Hyatt*. Purchased: Oceanview Jr. Suite with Balcony Bottomline, our 5-night stay was a horrible experience due to the following: 1) Flying Cockroaches in bedroom closets on two nights; 2) Geckos in our bedroom, on the ceiling, every night; 3) Frogs inside our bedroom; 4) Asked to participate in a tour of the resort which in turn was a 90 min presentation for a classified timeshare; 5) Food was appalling at all 4 restaurants; 6) Standard practices of customer service do not exist at this resort from the management level- The only decent service we received was from the waiters and maintenance personnel. Don't be fooled by their excellent marketing scheme.

I can't accurately describe how horrible our stay was. I brought my wife here for her birthday, and we were here for a wedding. There are so many things wrong with this resort. There's no AC in the rooms. There's no AC in the entire resort. Tub didn't hold water. The shower flooded. Room service didn't work. The food was horrible. We could've still had a good time, but the customer service was even worse. It is if they don't care about you. all they do is say yes yes yes OK OK just to get you out of there. I was told I would get a callback from Angel in concierge and have not gotten a call back. Hyatt should be embarrassed.

Got a room here for 3 nights, to enjoy the beach and pool for the last couple nights we are in tulum. First off I want to say that the staff is incredible, so attentive, friendly, helpful and just all around accommodating to the best of each of their abilities. And I seriously applaud the safety measures they are taking when it comes to covid. The room accommodations are okay, nothing to brag about. Bathrooms are nice, amenities galore and the AC is a + We came in as a "honeymoon couple" and purchased a King Sized bed garden view and got 2 double beds. Felt like sleeping in a room for teenagers. Not big enough of beds to share, so we slept in separate beds..super disappointed in that. : ( They play LOUD music by the pool and beach, so hard to relax. And if you want to enjoy a quiet area on the beach it's an additional $50 for a quiet beach bed. Which is on top of your $65 per person all inclusive menu. The food is decent but nothing to brag about. Seems like most of it is frozen and not very authentic. I couldn't finish even one of the dinner entrees, but the fruit and snacks throughout the day were nice. We are disappointed that we spent the extra money for the all inclusive as we just don't use it. The food isn't worth the extra money but the resort is really safe and family friendly if thats what you are looking for

Three stars because of the staff ONLY! I would not stay here again. That's factual information. Here I will explain. We arrived here and created happily by their staff. Served champagne while we wait to receive our room keys. Once we signed everything we signed up for our COVID test. The staff here are golden. Our rooms were not ready. We ask how much longer and he said a few more minutes which turned into another hour or so. They did take us to lunch while we wait. That's when I learned the food.... not so good. Which made me so happy that we didn't pay for the all inclusive. Every time we ate the food was just bland. Now our hot water didn't work. They fixed but we had to call a few times before they got it to work. All in all they have good staff but everything else just sucked. We also went out into the city every night for dinner and I'll say if you your going to do what we did then your better off getting a Airbnb or staying at one of the resorts in tulum. The taxis price's add up. Places like papaya project or a boutique hotel in that area would be best. I wouldn't stay here.

"Disclosure"(we love this place and stayed here for about 4 times since 2008...haven't been back for the past few years because of this COVID deal). We are also a bit bias since we belong to the UVC (which expires in 2024)...but to be honest we never had a problem. The one time we did have a minor problem was with our accommodations but I guess since we were there in June (beginning of down season) and early enough and not crowded tht they accommodated us without a problem. The last time we went we had about 10 reservations under our UVC...and one on there own...while all 10 of us were upgraded that one reservation did have a few complications throughout their trip. Stay tune because we are planning a trip this June and I'm pushing for tulum. Hopefully they haven't let this place slide and upgraded what ever needed to be upgraded.
