Sandfly’s neighborhood staple since 2001 turns out coastal crowd-pleasers—tuna bites, firecracker shrimp, seafood platters—and often hosts live music. Frequently recommended by local magazines and travel editors for relaxed, seafood-heavy menus.

Outstanding food, awesome service and great atmosphere. Our server Shannon did great!!!! Kept drinks full and easy to ask menu questions to. Our table did tacos; salmon tacos, firecracker tacos, blackened fish tacos and chicken bacon tacos. The firecracker tacos by far were the best. Would recommend. The others were excellent also, but the firecracker just was amazing. The atmosphere was great and cool after walking around wormsloe. Would recommend !!!!!!

If you are going to Savannah- make this a part of your trip. The waitstaff were attentive and knowledgeable. But the food- next level. We had the lemon blueberry salmon (Thanksgiving on your plate!) and pastafarrian (a medley of flavors). The perfect meal!

Google
Fantastic experience. Best fish & chips in Savannah, according to my partner who has grown up here. Delicious seafood, incredible view of the back area from the dining room, including the wildlife that comes to eat the birdseed outside. We were able to get a table with no wait on a Friday night. There was live music on the front patio, but we ate inside (we should have requested the back patio instead, but we didn’t know better).

Google
Quant little seafood restaurant nestled halfway between downtown Savannah and Tybee Island that highly satisfied our search for a tasty dinner. My Mahi mahi was absolutely delicious due to the very flavorful sauce and being cooked to perfection. Also the Salmon Tacos we ordered was awesome and the Key lime pie was nice and tart as it should be. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the food even while a nasty thunderstorm was carrying on outside our window view.

Wow. Such an awesome little local restaurant tucked away in Sav. This was my family's and my first time experiencing Diftaway Cafe. We had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Anthony, that evening. Can't say enough about the generosity the customer service that they gave. The food came out fast, very fresh, and delicious. I highly recommend ordering their Driftaway Crab Dip. So good! They absolutely love it when you bring your pets. Very pet-friendly. Glad that we found this place and we will definitely be back very soon!

Driving for Lift one day, I stumbled across two of my new favorite places. Driftaway Cafe’ and Wormsloe Park. The Driftaway Cafe is very close to the park and a frequent oasis after a long walk on a hot summer day. The entrance has a ramp, and the dining area is spacious with a variety of table configurations. There is indoor garden side dining in the back, a bar inside and an outdoor deck. It made me feel like I was on CapeCod. I had the crab dip with pita and home made potato chips. Delicious. The waitstaff is SO friendly. Not just cordial, genuinely friendly and fully attentive to their guests. It’s that place you can make it what you want. Dress up and eat from the top of the menu, or go in shorts and eat from the middle or sample the starters. This place fits everyone. This is a fantastic little restaurant. First of all I love the atmosphere. You walk in and you can just feel friendliness We were greeted by a awesome lady with funky glasses and blonde hair and she was just so nice. She just told us pick a spot any spot and we'll just find you don't worry about it So we went to the back where they had an enclosed porch area with glass that was very pretty then they also had an outdoor back deck then they had an interior and then they had a front deck so we decided to go and sit in the beautiful sun on the front deck She really was an awesome lady and then I think halfway through the shift they must have changed servers because then another gal came out. She was very very sweet And I'll just say service was very prompt and they gave us time to look over the extensive menu and it was impressive The food didn't take very long at all. And the presentation was fantastic I had a salmon salad and everything was perfect. The greens were fresh I had crispy cucumbers and beautiful tomatoes and the salmon was grilled to perfection with very very flavorful spices and they actually brought out two containers of dressing so nothing chintzy at all I had plenty of dressing My sister had I think some type of blue cheese chip a dish so it looks very delicious. She said she really enjoyed it it was a lot of food and it looked like it was fried potatoes wedges with blue cheese dressing She even mentioned to the waitress that she'd been to other restaurants where they go very light on the cheese and she was a little concerned about that But the waitress reassured her that she would get plenty of blue cheese . Anyway it was just a wonderful wonderful atmosphere we met a great lady by the name of Sharonr and I thought she was the owner Is she approached our table and gave us two pink flamingos mints. And then started talking to us about living in New York and how she comes up here for 5 months of the year and really loves it I liked that she was so friendly. And she wasn't the owner she was just somebody also there having a meal So it's just a great place good food good prices and they even had a dog bed outside so it's pet friendly I would definitely recommend it and I would definitely be back

Yelp
Overall, this place is really good for the location and price. There needs so be a deep clean in this place- it's one of those where you catch a word of something unpleasant when you walk in. It could be the carpet, or it could be the location (there's a creek in the back and you know how humidity impacts buildings here in SAV). There were also a lot of flies where we sat, that's just never a pleasant experience while you eat. The view if you sit towards the back is serene, we saw so many creatures and critters. Now that I got that out of the way, let's talk about food! I will say that the food options are a lot! There's something for almost everyone, I don't recall seeing many veggie or vegan options. The corned beef hash is probably the best I've had in the greater Savannah area. The menu except says "not your canned corned beef" and they are telling the truth! The chicken biscuit it also delicious. There's plenty of indoor seating, and the the bar looks like a cool place to sit and hang. When we left, live music was getting started. Service was spectacular. Our waitress was very attentive, even as the brunch crowd started to pick up.

Yelp
Stopped by on a bustling Thursday around 6pm, 4 diners. Two of us wanted something seafood, other two were uncommitted to a preference. Service was pleasant and attentive to begin with but our server seemed to get over tasked and the last part of our dining time we had to search for her for refills, etc. Shrimp and grits and Pastafarian with scallops entrees were enjoyed by both diners Salads were abundant and fresh Great wildlife viewing ( cats, raccoons, deer) next to a little creek/ditch behind the cafe, as much food was outside to entice Fun vibe and decor Live music outside A/C and No Gnats inside! Check it out

Yelp
The food was wonderful, we had the fish and chips and it was delicious. Our waitress was excellent and made sure we had what we needed. The atmosphere was fun, we sat outside and there was live music and the guy was good. I highly recommend you check this restaurant out when in the isle of Hope/Sandfly area.

Yelp
I had to do a double take to make sure i hadn't reviewed this place before....but it looks like I haven't! So I've been coming here for years. Nestled in the heart of Sandfly, Driftaway Cafe isn't just a restaurant-it's an entire mood. From the second you park, you're surrounded by Spanish moss, a slower paced Savannah, and the vibe hits you before you even walk in the door. The service is always top notch, and the menu has a lot of options, and there is a Sat/Sun brunch menu available. Their Sunday brunch game is easily the best in Savannah, if you ask me. It pairs up nicely with their cozy back patio when the weather is nice. If you're looking for a great meal with lots of local flair, by all means come try this place. It's kept me coming back for years.

Yelp
We had a nice lunch here and enjoyed the food and service. Only negative is we had a booth that had a lot of flies by the window. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife the shrimp salad. I had four nice breaded fish fillets with my order with a tasty slaw, fries, and good tartar sauce. My wife loved her salad. A lot of finely chopped shrimp in a nice mayo salad on lettuce. Our server took good care of us.

Yelp
I had higher expectations based on the reviews. We came for brunch, I ordered for the crab cake Benedict. The English muffin was overly chewy, the crab cake had shredded crab, not lump and was only ok in flavor. The poached eggs were a little overcooked and did not have the runny yoke and there was very little hollandaise. The potatoes were different, they had black beans intermingled in them and did not add anything to the side. We ordered coffee which took a while to come out and then took several requests to get creamer for them.

Yelp
We were wanting seafood on the first night of our sister trip to Savannah and we sure found the best place near our airbnb in the Isle of Hope! It's just the cutest place with lots of fun garden characters and bird and squirrel feeders outside to look at. Our server was the sweetest gal and she took great care of us! We had Shrimp Tacos and Catch of the Day Fish Tacos and it can't get any better. Absolutely delicious! So glad we started our trip eating here! Stop here and eat... so so good!

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner with my dog on the back porch. Driftaway is very pet friendly they provided a dog bed, water bowl and even ask if my boy could have a slice of bacon. The staff is friendly, the outdoor seating area was cute with adorable planters everywhere. The food was tasty. The only downside for me was the chairs are a wee bit small, the arms are welded to the front of the chair. If you have good size hips the outdoor chairs are not your friend. ‍ Not a big deal for me but if you're not dining with a pet and you're larger you may want indoor seating.

Yelp
Super cute restaurant a little off the beaten path! We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was quite tasty! Fresh seafood is always good! The server was kind and attentive and we were treated as though we were locals! Loved it and would go back!

Yelp
The service is always great and the food is delicious. Some menu favorites are the jerk salmon spring salad (the house vinegarette is divine), calamari, French dip, firecracker shrimp, and tuna tartare. For brunch, the chicken and biscuit is to die for. Pet friendly with great outdoor seating.
google avatar

Yelp
It's been a few years since we have gone here so I thought it was time for an update. We were looking for an outdoor seating restaurant since we had just taken our little dog to the vet. We were lucky to get the last round table under an awning. It was a beautiful 80 degree day in early February. Some nice Georgia weather after that bitter cold spell 2 weeks ago. I had a shrimp quesadilla that was loaded with shrimp and cheese. Our other order was a creamy crab dip, We decided to go with 2 appetizers for lunch. Both were excellent. Friendly service that was fast and efficient. Our dog, Cash, became the official greeter to everyone that entered or left the restaurant. I'm raising my review one star but today was clearly a 5* performance
google avatar

Yelp
Dog friendly patio! Staff is excellent and the owners gave a bone to my dog while having lunch. Will come back again and again Laid back beach local vibe porch, inside can be a nicer atmosphere, I came after a hike and sat outside.

Yelp
Local spot by Wormsloe state historic site (few mins away) parking located front and around the restaurant Reasonable price and large portions Fresh ingredients Can easily be shared Great for casual dining, watch sports, group, and date night Jerk salmon tender and flaky with mix green and asparagus Fried green tomato crisp and fresh, tart - not greasy Cheese curds taste like mozzarella sticks Crab soup - hearty with crab pieces very comfort and soothing and with buttery crackers ! Outdoor and indoor dining and 2 cats on properly and garden area with all the trinkets random decor that can make you smile
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Popped in after a visit to Wormsloe. We were seated right away - the ambiance was amazing - fresh plants everywhere and outside there were turtles and live things running around. Our server was very nice. We had the crab dip which was a little spicy and amazing. The grouper tacos and grouper spring salad were perfectly cooked and just the right amount of food. Would love to come back - lots of other things we could try !!

Yelp
Driftaway Café is a nice casual eatery, serving coastal seafood and southern favorites in the Savannah area in a house with an outdoor deck area that's dog friendly and a full bar. We had a nice dining experience here for lunch. We were looking for an eatery after visiting the Wormsloe historic site, and Driftaway Cafe was nearby with high reviews. On a Saturday for lunch, the place was busy, but for the three of us, we were able to be seated immediately. This place was popular and lively. For an appetizer, we ordered the Blue Chips, which were housemade potato chips with crumbles of bleu cheese on top, sour cream and scallions. They were crunchy and delicious. For my lunch, I ordered the Skidaway Oyster Sandwich, which was comprised of fried oysters, buttered Texas toast. lettuce, tomato, onion and a remoulade for the sauce. It came with a side of fries, which were double dipped. My sandwich was good, but on the heavier side. The batter on the oysters was crispy with tender oyster underneath and was the best part of the sandwich. Texas toast had a soft texture from the butter, but was firm enough to hold up the sandwich. Not a bad sandwich, but with a large menu, I'd likely order something else. Staff was friendly and our server checked in with us multiple times during service. Prices here are great and affordable, especially the drinks, which was a nice surprise, compared to Savannah's historic district. I'm glad we were able to check out Driftaway Cafe, exploring this part of the Savannah area over some solid food.

Yelp
We are new to the Savannah area and graved from seafood we looked on yelp and found this wonderful gem! We had the fish sandwich catch of the day was grouper and we had it blackened with a spice sauce. The sandwich was so delicious the fish tasted so fresh and perfectly seasoned. The service was amazing our servicer Sydney was absolutely wonderful. Great personality and simply a dear. At the end of our meal as we were leaving we found ourselves having the most pleasant conversation with other members of the staff. We had such an amazing time and most definitely will be back. The ambiance and service was just so wonderful we really had a great time. Thank you so much for a lovely experience!!

Desiree C.

Yelp
Customer service was great and my food arrived quick. The food was amazing especially the blueberry salmon. We sat outside in the back patio and it was very relaxing and calm. I would go back again

Yelp
After a long travel day in early April, we were starving and craving some fresh, Georgia seafood. We luckily found Driftaway Cafe on the outskirts of Savannah which has a beach-town restaurant vibe with a lovely outdoor patio we sat at to soak up the nice weather during lunch. Lexi was a wonderful server, offering good advice on the menu and ensuring we were taken care of with water refills and beverages. She also gave some great recommendations around Savannah for us to check out after our meal. The portions were great and quite filling while everything was fresh. I can't rave enough about the Tuna Tartare, Firecracker Shrimp, and Crab stew. We loved every second as the flavors popped and took our taste buds for a ride. It's not an easy feat, but the shrimp was some of the best we've ever had! Don't hesitate to visit Driftaway while in the Savannah area!

Lynn L.

Yelp
Shannon took great care of us. We ate the blackened grouper sandwich, as well as the French dip. Food was very tasty and the outdoor patio seating was quite pleasant. We will be coming back.

Yelp
This was by far the best food in the Savannah GA area that we have experienced. The service was friendly, quick and not overbearing. Every item we ordered was the best we have had anywhere to include the shrimp and grits, hot crab dip and the fish and chips. Better than what I have had in London UK actually. Great local spot with a nice atmosphere and just a down home feeling. Perfect ambiance for families or a quiet night as a couple out without the kids. Definately returning soon.

Yelp
After ten hours in the car, we lucked into finding the Driftaway--an utterly charming faerie land of delicious food and delightful people. Now, this is why visitors love Savannah--the loveliest, most welcoming people. Well done, and thank you.

Yelp
Great diner near Wormsloe park and served diner style food with a side of warm and Southern charm service! Place was lively and a converted house with lopsided porch which gave its own charm to the place. Solid flavor but that shrimp on the brunch shrimp & grits was so flavorful and fresh and was my favorite! Will get it again if ever luck or circumstance brings us back to this area.
google avatar

Demor'a B.

Yelp
I finally caught brunch and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Angelina took great care of our party of 10! I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Biscuit w/ Home-fries! My home-fries were burnt but I informed Angelina and she put in a order for more! As you can see the second order was great! The biscuit was soft, warm and flakey! The chicken was lightly breaded, fried, seasoned well and the gravy added more flavor! The Home-fries were crispy and flavorful! Everyone enjoyed their meals with no complaints. I recommend the Firecracker Shrimp Tacos, Crab Cakes, Calamari , Catch of the Day Sandwich and the Salmon BLT. Go visit Driftaway Cafe!

Bo L.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. The only problem is the noise coming from the kitchen. They were swearing quite a lot so I guess they thought they should turn up the music they were playing in there (separate from the music playing in the restaurant itself) so customers couldn't hear them. Unfortunately, they just started swearing and talking louder so they could be heard over the loud music. Really obnoxious and very disappointing.
google avatar

Wayne J.

Yelp
Casual atmosphere mostly indoor some outdoor limited parking huge portions appropriate pricing
google avatar

Shay N.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and didn't disappoint. It was quiet and well lit on the inside. Service was okay, waiter was efficient and quick but didn't check in on us very often. The group I ate with got a variety of food and most of it was 4 or 5 stars! The salmon was ordered without the blueberry & phenomenal. The tuna was really good but the potatoes in the middle were cold (because of the fish) but would've been better if they were plated differently and warm. The salmon BLT wasn't a favorite.. Fish and chip, shrimp and grits -- a must :)
google avatar

Shanti S.

Yelp
Recently had Tuna tower for lunch- the best for lunch. Service is always great. The heaters outdoors kept us comfortable

Katie W.

Yelp
This place is such a gem, especially for those that love a good lunch. Everything I have ordered I have liked but the tacos and specifically firecracker shrimp tacos are a must. The shrimp is perfectly breaded and cooked and the black bean and corn salsa adds a refreshing touch. The delicious firecracker sauce though... I could drink it! The inviting atmosphere and A1 service make each visit enjoyable. Ample parking and friendly kitties outside, benefiting from leftover fresh tuna, add the cherry on top to this delightful spot.

Pam J.

Yelp
Came in for early dinner, the service Was excellent! My husband loves craft beer and she was patient with testers. The firecrackers shrimp were great! We had a booth that overlooked there garden great experience!

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. I highly recommend the crab dip and firecracker shrimp tacos.

Brooke G.

Yelp
Love driftaway. Amazing food, great service and great owners. Cant wait to come back. Great atmosphere and always satisfied

Chelsea Y.

Yelp
I'm going to start off with the only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because the asparagus I ordered was a little overcooked and my husbands potato salad was dry and lacked seasoning. The waitress we had was top tier, she was fabulous, the atmosphere was amazing. Overall I did enjoy the food. I ordered the blueberry salmon and it was excellent! The crab dip for the appetizer is a must try as well!
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
So glad we stopped here. Shannon was our waitress and she was so friendly and took great care of us!! Crab chowder - fabulous. Crab cakes - delicious Grouper sandwich home run. Fun atmosphere and beautiful art work on the walls -
google avatar

Lisa P.

Yelp
Went for lunch and was not disappointed! Generous amount of tuna in their tacos at a reasonable price. If you try it, I hope you sit at the bar when Shannon is working. She was amazing! So very nice while juggling a lot!

Jeannette G.

Yelp
Shrimp & grits was delicious a lot of food actually the best I've had. Service fast & friendly. Grouper sandwich very good

Yelp
Found ourselves back in Savannah for the first time in three years and decided to go back here twice during our five day stay. It's a cute building and we were seated in the rear/back side overlooking a small stream. The first evening our server was Rachel, she was friendly and funny and checked on us often. Hubby loved his Tybee Tuna and my Firecracker Shrimp Platter was delicious. It had so many shrimp (12), I gave a couple to him. Mine came with red potatoes, which were seasoned nicely. The asparagus was room temperature but it has a tendency to cool off fast. We went all out and had dessert too - Triple Layer Chocolate Cake and Key Lime Pie. Both were moist and tasted great. On our second trip, our server was Anna (I believe). She was also very friendly and helpful since the first item my husband wanted they were out of. We ordered the Crab Dip with chips and pitas (Anna's suggestion to have both chip types). Not only was the dip fantastic but so were the homemade chips and pita pieces (which were crisped on the outside). The entrees were Fish N Chips and Baja Fish Tacos with the fish of the day - Grouper. Never had Grouper before, it had a really nice flavor and worked well with the tortillas. Everything was excellent! They also have great unsweet ice tea.

Yelp
I came here after searching for something in the area, and loved sitting on the back patio. It feels very tropical, the seating is in the garden with a view of a river filled with turtles. The food was really yummy! If you like fish tacos, definitely go for the ones here. They really hit the spot!! I will be back!

Michael I.

Yelp
This was a great restaurant with a wonderful menu. Stopped in while on vacation and highly recommend it!

Yelp
As soon as we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. The staff greeted us with a smile and seated us quickly. The setting was quaint and eclectic. I absolutely LOVED watching the birds and turtle while dining! But let's discuss the food, shall we? This was some of the BEST food my husband and I have had. Period. The appetizer, entrees, AND dessert. Impeccable.

Joseph F.

Yelp
Robin Q owns and runs this restaurant so well. It's a neighborhood restaurant that appeals to all manner of diners. Really great food and vibes!

Concerned C.

Yelp
The absolute BEST place! Whenever we visit Isle of Hope/Savannah, this has been our 1st stop, and it NEVER disappoints. The Rum Punch is to die for! We absolutely love the Tuna Tartar as an appetizer and their menu is so big that you could please anyone in your family. Can not say enough about this small little restaurant that leaves a BIG impression on everyone they feed. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Good food, good service, decent atmosphere. The food was priced decently, on average. There is a bar here as well as you walk in the door. There was a good selection of food. I opted for the fish tacos (~$15). Catch of the day was grouper. We were in at lunchtime and they were still serving breakfast. Wife got some sort of French toast with a rum batter (~13). It was delicious. Son got a sausage biscuit with taters for just $8. Daughter had a chicken biscuit with gravy for ~$13. We all enjoyed our food and would visit again if we were in the area.

Hannah C.

Yelp
Delicious! Hole in the wall, super casual local feel with very friendly staff & the best food! Gourmet tier entrees. Blueberry salmon, firecracker shrimp & shrimp & grits were all excellent!

Natalie T.

Yelp
Love the food and the staff they vibe is perfect o waitress was perfect thankyou will be coming back

Yelp
So glad we decided to drive out from Savannah. The service was fantastic and food was fresh and delicious. We started with the fried green tomatoes appetizer. Delicious. Our entrees were grouper fish tacos. Home made potato chips were our sides. Everything was fresh and delicious and I didn't feel like I was in an overpriced tourist trap.

Patti R.

Yelp
I lived in many places in Florida including Key West. This restaurant blew my mind. Awesome atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff and 5he best grouper I have ever had. And the prices are more than fair. Can't wait to come back!!
