"This hotel bar in downtown Portland feels like a place that would be frequented by Don Draper, low-lit with a sexy banquette and compelling midcentury aesthetic. The bar is well-stocked, but really, you come here to drink a Manhattan, a Champagne cocktail, or absinthe — the menu is stacked with options for all three. Driftwood’s food menu is limited, but visitors can stay true to theme and opt for steak frites or lobster bisque." - Carrie Uffindell, Eater Staff

We came into town for a wedding + instead of utilizing the room block, we decided to try the Driftwood Motel, which was close to the reception. Loved the location and was thrilled by the access to the private beach. Our room was clean, spacious and comfy. The daily housekeeping was appreciated. Snack bar was ample but you’re also close to many coffee shops + restaurants. Parking was tight but we always had a spot. Plenty of paid street parking was available for our visiting friends.

My 2 girlfriends and I just got back from a 3 day, 2 night girls trip at the Driftwood! It was our first time there and we’ll definitely go back! Betty Ann was GREAT, personable, and very helpful. Our room (2 double, 1 bath) was beautiful, very clean upon arrival, and spacious enough for the 3 of us for 3 days. The parking lot was challenging, tight, but we always managed to get a decent spot. The private beach was GREAT to have, along with the beautifully kept pool! We enjoyed sitting out by the pool after dark enjoying the ocean sounds and breeze. Everyone we met, all the other families that were there, seemed to be really happy and enjoying their stay as much as we did. We’ll definitely return in the summer of 2025!!

Perfect shore getaway! Renovated rooms, hot showers, steps from a private beach. Lovely and gracious hosts who worry when you run late. Love them! Beautiful sunset across the street on the bay. It was perfection! Only star reserve is the summer peak price (not unexpected but still ouch … and loud upstairs guest - if you have the option, ask for a second floor room.

We had a fantastic time! The rooms were nice and very well air conditioned which is huge in the summer heat, and the private beach is gorgeous from sunup to sundown. The food and drinks available on the patio are great too and the boardwalk is just a few minutes away and within walking distance. Betty Ann is super sweet and runs a great spot, can't wait to come back next year. 😊

Google
The room experience was horrifying. The room needs major painting and deep cleaning. For $350 a night the room had no microwave, no coffee machine, no chairs and no desk. It had one night stand covered with stains (possibly blood). The floor had never been mopped, and all the door knobs and frames were extremely dirty. Pros: excellent location, nice deep pool with no markings or towels, nice private access to the beach, pretty inviting coffee with all food necessities, but it closes at 4pm.

We booked a spur of the moment overnight stay at the Driftwood Motel and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay here. The room was very clean, spacious, comfortable and well appointed. The room included a little refrigerator and nice, new TV. So convenient to have the fridge for a bottle of wine and a few beers. The bathroom was so nice with a beautiful, modern tile shower and toilet. Some of the bonus aspects that I didn't realize was a beautiful pool and patio area that included plenty of tables and chairs, an awesome little food shack that has a great menu for breakfast, lunch and ice cream, etc. They make the food there, not pre-made sandwiches, etc. |But the nicest aspect of the Driftwood is being RIGHT ON THE BEACH! We walked out of our room and we were right there!! The owner, Betty Ann was very nice and gave us great tips for things to do and see in Point Pleasant. The Driftwood Motel is truly a gem of a place to stay on the Jersey Shore. It far exceeds all expectations from what one would anticipate from a motel. Highly recommend staying here!

Google
This was our first time staying in point pleasant and Driftwood was as real as the reviews. The rooms are clean and newly renovated, the pool and beach are right outside the door which is a plus. The pool was relaxing and beach was clean . We did not have any issues with parking maybe cause it was during the week. Staff were friendly. Will definitely stay again in the future .

We just spent several days and added an extra day at The Driftwood Motel in Point Pleasant NJ it was such a nice getaway. Our room was nice, the cleaning staff came every day. The pool, snack stand and private beach were so close and convenient to get to. The staff were very friendly. We will definitely come back next year! The Dodd family

Yelp
I know how hard they work I love Driftwood Motel, my one suggestion. Is to have a smoking area so people can not litter your beautiful property. The rooms are adorable, and the beach is perfection. I used the pool, and that was great. My husband had food, and that was great as well! Besides the cigarettes and the parking which is very difficult we had a fantastic time. The only place I would stay in Point Pleasant NJ xoxo

Yelp
BEWARE!!! Drove 4 hours with young children just to get to Driftwood Motel. When we arrived, the owner told me they canceled my room by accident but didnt have any other rooms available. We booked 4 months in advance. The owner was rude and kept telling me they refunded my card which they did not. She had me take a picture of someone else's credit card information saying that it was our refund. It wasn't. She was so rude and unapologetic. All she kept saying was "I don't do the refunds". She was nasty to her employee too. If I was that young lady, I'd be looking for a new employer. An employer that isn't condescending and embarrasses them in front of customers. If you book this motel make sure you confirm your rooms before driving there. We had a car full of kids that were very upset. Save yourself the stress we went through.

Nicole P.

Yelp
I wish I could put 0 stars. Whoever you had answering the phone last week taking reservations was extremely rude. I was so taken back I thought I had dialed the wrong number. Actually asked her if I was calling the Driftwood. "Yea hello" followed by her complaining and huffing that 3 people called her. I thought to myself, maybe she is just having a bad day, but then she told me the rooms I saw online on other sites are not available. So who knows what would happen if you booked thru a 3rd party site. She talked over me and did not take any of my information. I understand old school booking, but not rude customer service. If that's the case take the availability off of your 3rd party sites and hire someone who is customer friendly.

Yelp
Love this place!!! My bf and I stayed here one night for a wedding from Long Island. From moment of booking to check out Betty ann was awesome and made the stay even better . Rooms are so cute and comfortable. The closet has a huge vanity and chair to get ready which was perfect for the occasion. Beach lovers will love this spot. Wake up and listen to waves. Definitely will be a spot we go to often.

Yelp
We stayed here over Labor Day weekend.Rooms were great and loved the snack shack!!Coffee and breakfast waiting every morning!Nice size pool.Parking was a little tight but doable. Short walk to the boardwalk. The only thing wrong with our stay was that we didn't stay long enough! Can't wait to book for next year!!

Yelp
My wife and i booked a room for a two day get away. We payed one day in advance of 233.00. We were never informed that there would be a no refund policy if we had to cancel. The night before we were to check in we had a sad family emergency , as soon as i was able which was very early the next morning i called to cancel. I was told by employee steve that he would leave a note for the owners. Never called me so i than called back speaking to employee Ted he told me no steve worked there and that he also would leave a note. At around 5:30 pm i received a call from employee Betty ann i explained what happened in return i was told no refunds reguardless of your problem and that she had excuses all day with cancellations and that she did not have time for me . i asked to speak to the owners when doing so she said nothing would change and she hung up the phone on me. No refund, No credit we would not recommend this place to anyone. Truly not understanding and selfish people. STEVEN AND JANICE C.

Yelp
I love the Driftwood and it's private beach. They did a very nice job upgrading rooms..Betty Ann works extremely hard. I just wish they could find a rewards program or incentive for repeat customers. We have used the Driftwood for years! Coming back in September and did a room upgrade. I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF ITS WORTH IT OR NOT! Karen

Yelp
Spent an evening here, last minute. Betty Ann at the front desk couldn't have been more accommodating! The room was supper clean & quite. All I could hear was the sounds of the ocean waves rolling in. Pool is super clean! Next time Im visiting the area I know where I'm staying. Thanks Driftwood staff.

Alice S.

Yelp
Stayed here for my birthday. Betty Ann understood my needs as a disabled person and did everything to accommodate that. We got an early check in and a first floor room as promised. VERY clean, everything was recently renovated. Outdoor area with pool was well kept and clean. Would definitely recommend to anyone, with or without kids.

Barbara C.

Yelp
The room itself was very roomy, the bathroom was a nice size too. The floor was very dirty, our socks were filthy after walking around on the bare floor. I'm not sure if the 84 lb (she told us her weight) woman is the owner or the manager but she has no personality. She isn't the friendliest of people either. Our room was too have a microwave and we had young children with us that we brought items for them to cook. When we asked her, (the 84 lb lady) she said she doesn't know what happened to it and turned and walked away. The next day we asked the cleaning lady and she got us one. Awesome, that wasn't hard now was it?! The day of check in, we go to the beach come back to shower and there are 2 wash clothes. There are 4 of us, I go speak to the same woman because I didn't see the cleaning lady, and ask for 2 more washcloths. She says to me "I just sat down (on the step by the office) let me finish my cigarette". Are you freaking kidding me?! The steam is coming out of my nose now. I found this rude and unacceptable. I'm a paying customer. i just paid $310 a night, got a room that I had to ask for the microwave twice before getting one, even though is advertised as having one in the room on your site and you are going to make me stand there now and wait for you to have a cigarette? I'm sorry, that is no way to treat a paying customer. Rude I was sitting at the pool with my two children swimming in the pool and she looks over the fence and said you can't have drinks in the pool. I said okay but I don't have any, she said I'm just letting you know. Hmmm okay. Like she goes out of her way to be cranky to people. She does not smile, isn't friendly, not welcoming to the customers at all. I asked others about their experience and received the same comments about experiences we had with her. Her not being friendly. We stayed at the Boardwalk (another place owned by same people) before and Will who works there is awesome. I wish he was at the Driftwood and she was at the Boardwalk. I like the hotel, the pool, snack stand, outside shower and private beach, but her attitude is going to scare people off. It was not the best experience because of her. She's on a mission and it's not too be pleasant to the guests there. Again, I don't know if she is an employee, manager or owner but she needs to greet the guests and be pleasant to them or whose going to come back after her lousy treatment?

Kim B.

Yelp
The place was chosen as a last minute get away b/c of Covid. It was okay... however not that clean! What I loved was the private section on the beach and it being away (like a 10 minute walk to the boardwalk). I didn't like that we had to change rooms the night before we left... (Reason was that someone had booked our initial room) The second room however was better then the first; as it had 3 beds and the first one only had 2 and it was 3 of us.... ( Why not give us that room initially?!?) Will I return.... maybe not! My stay wasn't as pleasant given the rooms lack of cleanliness...

Yelp
Sooo many things to say about this place! Driftwood seems to be a well established family business, with a mom and son duo who keep things orderly, and are on top of their operations. It's definitely a motel and perfect place to stay if you're looking for that authentic Jersey shore experience! I felt like I could run into Snookie or Paully D any minute! They have an onsite mini restaurant/ snack shop which provided a yummy Taylor ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Pros: GREAT LOCATION & onsite parking, Ice machine, Direct access to private beach, tables and chairs for eating, relaxing at the Inground pool or and watch the ocean waves, AC in the room worked well, and recent renovations were sufficiently done. Full size refrigerator in kitchen and microwave. Cons: Poor privacy (bathroom blinds didn't work and people could walk right by and look in), Kitchenette not well equipped for actual cooking, Drawers in bathroom were saggy and not much storage or shelves, No closet in the bedroom or Smart TV to cast or play music, Limited cable channels , Not enough outlets or they were blocked by furnishings.

Marie A.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay at this quirky little piece of crazy paradise. The parking lot is definitely awful -- way too small for the number of rooms on the property. The room was small and the beds were cheap. No towels in the room. But the location can't be beat. Right on the beach, walking distance to boardwalk (if you like to walk). I'd return.

Margaret N.

Yelp
Great spot if you are looking for affordable, very clean, updated ocean front room or apartment. Perfect ocean front balcony view! Clean kitchen, able to cook, roomy fridge, very comfortable beds, coffee maker too. This is a very well maintained property that offers on site light fare, a lovely pool, tons of oceanfront seating, a private beach with lifeguards too! Very quiet location about 12 min walk to quaint boardwalk, aquarium and tiki bar. Ample shopping in area if needed. Safe neighborhood with on-site parking. Parking lot is a bit cramped but manageable. Betty is the manager, she works hard and is very sweet. The owner was on site and also very pleasant. Also noted, the housekeeping staff are excellent and friendly, keeping everything very clean. Really a very spacious and well appointed efficiency that looks newly updated, clean bathroom, lots of towels every day as well. Free wifi, 2 tvs, ceiling fans, individual air conditioning units in the rooms and again, super clean, updated and quiet! Absolutely beautiful.

Marie A.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay at Driftwood. The rooms were clean and of course the location was perfect! The closet has tons of storage space with a shelving unit for you to lay out all of your belongings - no need to ruffle through your luggage searching for what you need when you stay here! There was overcast and fog one day, but it was still a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. When the sky is clear you have a great view of the ocean on the deck and pool area. The pool is heated and was so relaxing after a day in the sun. The setup outside on the deck is absolutely perfect with plenty of tables and seating and an adorable snackbar which was not open, but that was to be expected considering NJ restaurants and food services are still not open for dining. I took a star off because locals are always using the pool and the pool closed at 7pm (no signs posted stating what hours its open).

Marrie A.

Yelp
Terrible guest service. It's a family owned place. They were Very rude. Price is ok, have a private beach, small pool n place to chill out by, eat and have a drink outside.. Inside, apartments are really small, don't seem very clean as I could've figure it out by myself.. I got at least 8 bites of fleas. I felt Very frustrated. Definitely not going back there.

Rob R.

Yelp
We had an absolutely terrible experience at the Driftwood Motel. This place is a motel by every definition except at 4-5 star nightly rates, we paid $322 for a single night. I will give a fair and honest review of the facility after my customer service review. I booked this motel 2-3 weeks in advance of our stay for a Friday and Saturday night in August. We were flying from California to New Jersey for a business seminar. I checked in after 11pm Friday then on Saturday while at the seminar I got a call from the motel stating they were trying to get the room cleaned for the next guests and I need to remove my items (11:30am). I had to leave the seminar to speak with the motel owner to find out they only had me staying for 1 night, not the 2 nights I booked and I need to remove my items because they were fully booked. They "graciously" found me another room at another establishment for $350/nt because it is the high season in August and every place was fully booked. The owner Paul totally lied to me telling me he pulled a favor from the other establishment's owner getting me a room they don't typically rent because they reserve it for themselves. I know he lied because when I told the other owner the story he laughed and said that wasn't true. Paul refused to take any responsibility for this issue stating this had never happened before in any of his 6 motels. He consistently told me "I'm not blaming you but it's not my mistake" and there's not much he can do for me. To put salt on the wound after I removed my items I came back to further discuss with Paul but the desk clerk Bettyanne told me he wasn't available. She then began to give me a major attitude when I asked for his name and contact information telling me I can have her phone number which was posted on the front door. She then proceeded to tell me verbatim, "you're lucky I even found you another room!" Awful awful customer service and you can read the other Yelp reviews which basically state the same thing. When I found Paul I expressed to him that any reputable business that considered customer service important would work something out since I'm missing out on my business seminar to deal with this fiasco. The best he would offer me was dinner at his restaurant and I could use their beach ($50 value). Trust me this was after 2 different conversations and was given begrudgingly. Onto the facility review.... Pro's: - Located directly on the beach. - Has an outdoor pool but I didn't get to use it since we were kicked out so I can't tell you much more. - Has a little snack shack but same as above. - Room has a full size refrigerator and microwave. - Plenty of outdoor patio furniture for socializing. Con's: - There is no reservation system or emailed confirmation system (I called back the night reserved because I realized he never asked for my email) I leaned today they are a small "mom and pop place" according to the owner. So ensure they have all the details correct or you'll run into the same issue as I did. - Parking is Extremely limited (approx. 25 spots) so get there early or you will be finding another location. Immediate neighborhood is permit only during the high season. - Light outside room door which cannot be switched off was invested with gnats, spiders and mosquitos. Make sure to turn off your room lights before exiting or they will come into room. (Other Yelp reviews had a similar experience) - Room furniture was extremely dated. No closet and the dressers wreaked of mildew. I'm only assuming these were not replaced after hurricane Sandy 7 years ago. - Very thin walls and ceilings. We could literally hear the people above us stomping around well past 1am. (Another Yelp consistency). Thanks for reading this long review. I'm writing this a few hours after my debacle and I can tell you now where I lay that there are way better and cleaner places to stay for $300+ in Point Pleasant. Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware!

SJ B.

Yelp
Canceled my reservation 5 days prior and they wouldn't refund the amount for the room, which was $289. People on the phone were also very unpleasant.

Matt G.

Yelp
The only really good thing was that we were right on the beach. I wouldn't pay these rates again to stay here though. 2nd floor "deluxe apartment" was not at all clean, and the floors/ceilings are paper thin so we got to hear the guests above our room every time they took a step. Parking was TIGHT. They don't have enough spaces for all of their guests so be prepared to possibly find your own spots offsite. The snack bar was the best part of the whole facility, and the breakfast sandwiches were made fresh to order. Good coffee, and friendly young people working there. The beach in front of the place is amazing, and it's the reason for the 2-star. Otherwise I would have left one.

Tina F.

Yelp
I thought this motel was pretty decent. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and there were no bugs! I had a 2 bedroom room with a kitchen and a private deck. The parking lot is a bit chaotic at times and you could find yourself with no place to park if you get back too late but overall, my family and I had a great time!

Regina N.

Yelp
Just went there last weekend which happened to be their opening weekend. Our room was clean and everything was updated. Apparently all of the rooms are now updated. Check in was a breeze. Betty was awesome and took good care of us. We'll definitely be back!

Francesca L.

Yelp
Love this Jersey shore gem so much that I just got back from my second visit of the season. It's a simple beach motel that is very clean, well run and has a gorgeous private beach. The staff can't do enough for you, especially Betty Ann. Can't wait to go back next summer!

D H.

Yelp
STOLE MY MONEY! Here is a summary of my experience. This is an email sent to this motel's manager. This was sent after MANY MANY attempts to reach him by phone and email. When I say MANY...I mean MONTHS. This was from last summer 2017. It is now June 2018 and they have yet to help me. Anytime he actually spoke with me or emailed back he said he'd take care of it "on Friday" or "I'll do it Tuesday". FOR A YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Morning, I have been trying to get this taken care of for a couple of months now. Here is all of the information that should be needed to credit me back. On June 1st we booked a room for 6/24-6/26 on Expedia.com. We had until June 17th to cancel according to the email confirmation. Due to bad weather we decided to cancel and did so on June 16th. On June 2nd I was charged $249.00. According to Expedia we should only have been charged if we did not cancel in time...which we did. If you do need further information, please feel free to call or email. I do still have all of the emails if you would like me to forward them. If you can please confirm receipt of this email, I'd appreciate it. Thank you

Nancy H.

Yelp
This is a great place to stay. We come every year the second week of September. The owners go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We have made many friends over the years here and we all come down at the same time to see each other. It is a wonderful place to share memories and make new ones.

Holleigh G.

Yelp
The place is Cozy and Clean. Just the kinda place you need at the Jersey Shore! Park your car and no need to move! Room, food, pool and private beach. Very friendly Owners. Family owned and operated. Photos on All web sights should be updated!! 2017 renovated Pool liner new Pavers new around pool New fencing New lounging chairs , table & chairs around patio. New carpet and bedding in rooms. Has A small place right on sight for breakfast and lunch ( should add some healthy options to menu though...Salad, Grilled Chicken, fish.) Rooms are clean and spacious. Walking distance to Boardwalk and restaurants , they even have a trolly that picked you up for free to take you around town and boardwalk!! We love it and Go every year.

Kim M.

Yelp
We stayed here recently and I was very surprised at how clean this jersey shore motel was. Friendly staff. Friendly housekeeping. Great private beach and nice pool. Would stay again definitely. Just wish the pool stayed open later

Sue I.

Yelp
We arrived early and the room was not ready which was fine. When I looked inside I felt awful. The room felt musty the rugs needed a cleaning and it did not feel comfortable. I refused not to stay and our family left. I truly hoped that bedspreads were changed before new quests took over. Awful parking lot such enclosed quarters. As I leaving, the owner ask why and I explained why. I was promised some refund on this overcharged room fee. WILL NEVER VISIT AGAIN!

Steve P.

Yelp
Always a great time. Located in the perfect spot on the strip. Pool is clean and heated. Breakfastand lunch right next to pool is perfect.

Nina R.

Yelp
Decent for 1 night stay. Motel quality rooms. Parking lot is insane to get in and out of. Staff was rude and short with any questions we asked. Pool was closed anytime we tried to use it so we couldn't even use it once. It's nice that it's right on the beach but that was about it. Noisy outside as well at night so if you plan with going with young kids like we did that may be a problem. Like I said fine for one night but we wouldn't return personally.

Suzy C.

Yelp
Awful. The service is awful, the older lady (who is was a rude scutch) should NOT be in costumer service. When I tell you rude I mean RUDE like beyond belief. Came down to the beach to to get the key from us even though we had more time until checkout, and was so utterly disgusting I'm jaw dropped. THERE ARE MUCH BETTER PLACES TO STAY. I've been coming to Point Pleasent since I was a kid, and this was the worst expierence

Anatt M.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here overnight (June 18-19 2019). When we learned that the weather was not going to be so great we wanted to move the date by one or two days. Needless to say Bettyanne would not move the date for us. She said " she can't do it". It's not like we were canceling our reservation. This is a week before the busy season. The motel was not busy until Saturday according to her. In addition, they do not have pool towels. We had to use the towels from the room. The room only had 3 towels in it. Bettyanne told me come back later for more towels. I asked how much later? She said later. Finally she said half an hour. Also, when we checked in she only gave us 1 key. We needed 2 keys. Once again come back later. She needs to treat her guests better and not to be rude. Bettyanne should have said I will get you the extra key and towels right away. The motel also is very run down. Their are bugs in the outside light fixtures and on the outside paneling. When the light burns out and they change the light is it so hard to clean the fixtures? Lastly, they do not over and breakfast but at least offer coffee in the morning.

Noelle B.

Yelp
Stayed just one night (off season) but room was clean and comfortable and Betty (front desk) was friendly and welcoming. I would consider staying here in the summer for it's location right on the beach. Small but very nice deck area poolside right on beach was enjoyed on the chilly day I was there so I imagine in the summer it would be fantastic.

Christina F.

Yelp
I love the Driftwood because this was my childhood vacation spot. The place has sentimental value and is very much like I remember it. They have a private beach, private parking, nice pool with very nice chairs, tables with chairs, a snack shack, a family atmosphere, and are a short walk to Jenkinson's Boardwalk. There are lots of great restaurants in the area. I enjoyed talking with the other vacationers. It was quiet at night. The only cons are the rooms are fairly outdated and out a/c did not work well. The a/c was a window unit. I did not get warm fuzzies from the front desk staff. Which is a big no-no in the hospitality industry. The parking lot is a tight fit for mid sized and larger vehicles. I think with some investments and improvements they could take it up a notch. We might be back next summer.

Nick B.

Yelp
Terrible and over priced for how dirty it was ! Awful customer service and manager was rude . infested room with nats everywhere !!!!! I wouldn't recommend

Giovanna C.

Yelp
What a horrible place! I booked my trip and unfortunately had to cancel due to Covid and they did not care and refused to refund my first night stay. They are heartless and all they care about is money. They treated me so bad and after fighting with them they said they would give me a credit for a future stay to use within 30 days. Now why would I want to stay at a place that treated me so terrible? They need to do the right thing and process a refund. If your thinking about booking a room at this motel...DON'T DO IT!

Diane H.

Yelp
Do not go here they lie this place is a dump. Went because we needed a heated pool day for my son he's disabled they gave me some story of why it couldn't be heated. The ice machine broke the soda machine broke. The beds are very uncomfortable. The parking lot is a mess small and hard to get in and out of.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
Read the other poor reviews and that's what I'd have to say about the place. Musty, poor customer service, outdated, damp, gross, rude... Only good thing is the location but next time I'll pay 3 times as much to stay in another NJ beach town, or at the White Sands.

Anonymous O.

Yelp
I've stayed here twice. The first time I had a pretty good experience. I stayed for 3 days. It's right on the beach, there's a snack bar, and a pool. This is what you are paying for. They have the crappiest towels and are stingy with them and everything there including toilet paper. I had to ask for more twice through out my stay and only used a total of 3 towels per day. They don't offer pool towels either. The parking is pretty crazy too, but the lady who worked there offered her spot to us which was nice. Both the office and snack bars are crazy when it comes to quarters. If you ask their head will spin and they will start spitting vomit across the room. All in all I had a good time and wanted to come back. The 2nd time was horrible. I stayed for 1 night. I was told when I made the reservation that the room would be facing the beach, I did not end up with one. They then charged me $50 more dollars for extra people in my room even though the beds were set up to accommodate them. When it was time to shower, guess what not enough towels again, even though we got charged $50! I had a full size fridge in the room that didn't work at all! The food we had in there was garbage the next morning since it was room temperature. The next day we went to the beach and had to move our car from the lot by 11 am. Luckily, I knew from our last stay to bring quarters. I moved my car at 11 but was still being harassed by the woman that worked there to move it. They also charged us again for more beach passes even though they were supposed to be included, and it's a private beach where no one checks a pass. No one wears a pass on the beach either. When I checked in I inquired if they had a bathroom and shower, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they did. I had to find out the hard way at about 4:15 pm I went to use the shower and was interrupted by the crazy woman who works there. She started banging on the door like a lunatic saying that I had to get out of there immediately because she had to lock the door and she was late getting to her 2nd job. I asked her to give me 5 mins, but she would not let up. She started complaining and yelling. She then proceeded to lie and say there was a sign that said the shower closes at 4. THERE WAS NO SIGN!!! I told her that I did not see a sign, and when I got out my friend said he saw her write on the door in red sharpie that it closes at 4. I mean literally on the door like graffiti you'd see on a bathroom wall! Not sure why anyone would want this nut representing your business.

Yelp
Just returned from a mother/daughter weekend getaway Aug 5-7 at the Driftwood. Let me break it down in parts: Check In: We had to wait a half hour before our room was ready. No big deal. We brought sandwiches from Joe Leones so we ate at one of the picnic tables facing the ocean. When it was time to check in, the guys behind the desk were very nice to us. No problems at all. Beach: The beach is a private beach. The ocean was your basic Jersey Shore: There was seaweed and a lot mussels and some cigarette butts I guess people at the resort and surrounding resort just flicked them in the sand. I got to relax which is what I went for Pool: We sat out at the pool after being out on the beach. We sat on the stairs. Way too much chlorine. The smell was very strong. Housekeeping: Very nice and very accommodating when we asked for fresh towels. Parking: Absolutely HORRIBLE - The parking lot is very small and with the amount of SUVs, it's very tight. Location: Very convenient - we drove everywhere. Room: It was convenient and served it's purpose. Just an average room. The shower is small. My mother said she felt sand in the bed. This place had a ton of families - large groups. I don't really see it as a place to go with your significant other or with one family member. My mother had been there 5 times. This was my first time. I find Point Pleasant kinda boring so besides a day, trip I don't think i would return to this motel or to P.P. for more than a day. If you have a large family, you will enjoy it. It's beachfront with a pool and snack bar.

Yelp
I love this place! BettyAnn ushered us to our room and made sure our accommodations were acceptable. The ocean front room has a million dollar view and we could not be happier.

Yelp
Love this motel !! Stayed 4 nights in August 2018, they run a clean, friendly place. I traveled alone, I felt very much at home there. Betty is very helpful, she keeps very busy, the grounds of motel is clean, takes care of her staff, and makes sure her guests are taken care of. I want to go back to this motel next summer, stay longer because I liked it so much. Right on the beach, a private beach, nice pool, snack bar on the patio, good prices, I stayed in double bed room, had refrigerator, clean bathroom and a large walk-in closet, nice wide screen tv, the house-keeping crew were great as well. Thanks Betty and Driftwood Motel for making my mini-vacation wonderful. See you next summer!

Yelp
This is a family owned motel that hasn't seen an update (like a new blanket or washed carpet) since the early 80's. It's nice that it has a private beach and a pool but that just isn't enough to overlook the many neglected areas of this motel. For starters they do not accept credit cards on the phone, so I had to mail a check. Weird but I did it anyway. When I arrived to the motel the room was musty, the bed linens were so old the blanket was practically see thru. We had to wear shoes the whole time in the room because the carpets would turn our feet BLACK within a few steps. The bathrooms are really small (like the size of a half bath) with a standing shower that fits just one adult which made cleaning off my 3 year old pretty difficult. The towels were stained and they only left us a piece of paper for a bath mat. There's also no cabinets or countertop to speak of in the bathroom so there's no where to leave your things. Since a piece of paper doesn't work well as a bath mat the floors not only get really dirty from the dirty carpet but really wet from the tiny shower so leaving anything on the floor isn't really an option. They do have 'free wifi' but it took my friend multiple phone calls (from her cell because the rooms don't have phones) to get the wrong answer. She called the front desk multiple times because the lady there kept telling her to call back in 5 minutes only to finally tell her she thinks you have to 'dial in' to get access. Uhm....wow! On our last day there as we dropped off our keys I asked how the free wifi worked and someone finally gave us an answer. Again I can look past the old linens and lack of wifi knowledge but the dirty musty carpet, dirty towels and my last bit of info I cannot. On our last evening in there my 3 year old had a fit screaming that her legs hurt and were itchy. I figured it was because of all the walking we did since Motrin seems to help her. But the next evening when we were home she developed a full body allergic reaction. The only explanation we could come up with was she was exposed to a severe allergen (like MOLD) that caused her body to rash up. I told the Dr about our hotel stay and she agreed it could have been exposure from the moldy carpet. I strongly suggest if you have allergies to mold, young children or just enjoy the basic needs of sanitation DO NOT stay at this motel. UPDATE: I don't know you either Angela P. (or why knowing me matters) but I assure you we are speaking of the same hotel. It's family owned, friendly, nice view... I agree with everything but the cleanliness of the hotel. It's probably the best out of what's available in PPB if you only want to stay 2 nights and not pay over $300 a night but if you know Jersey beaches then you know there really aren't too many quality hotels to choose from. Having been raised in NJ I'm familiar with most (if not all) the shore points and I'm just dissappointed in how badly neglected this family owned hotel is. Minor adjustements like WASHING THE MOLD off the carpet would have had a much more positive impact on me. Also, upon checking with the Allergist he suggested that although my daughter does NOT have a mold allergy if the mold count was extremely high it's possible for her to have had that full body reaction just as I explained it.

Great time ! Room was clean and ready before check in time. Front desk, snack shack and maids all very nice. Snack shack was prefect for what we needed. Coffee and taylor ham, egg, cheese sandwich were fresh. Private pool and beach were very welcoming. Patio area was very nice for evening to sit and here the waves crashing. Next Year here we come !

Yelp
Clean affordable beachside rooms , friendly staff, short walk to the boardwalk, what more could you ask for. The staff truly went out of there way to tend to any request we made. Recommend this place to anyone

Yelp
We had an amazing time staying here. The rooms were very clean, and spacious enough. Comfortable beds and a small refrigerator in the room was great because we needed to store milk for my niece. The convenience of having the private beach and pool was great. What was even better was the snack bar they had right in front of the pool (had breakfast every morning there, great coffee, and ate lunch there once). Everyone was extremely nice. We loved it, and it definitely will not be the last time we come here.

Yelp
It's an old place but it was clean. Really liked that you have the beach and a pool. The board walk was a 10 min walk. They have a little dinner next to the pool so you can get a breakfast or a lunch. I would go back again.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place. If you are to go to point pleasant beach for vacation, this is the spot you have to stay at. I've been going here for 5 years now with my family and we switched from another motel that's right down the street. We love this place for so many reasons. It's family owned-- Sam, Paul, and especially Betty Ann are the nicest, most helpful people. They always make sure my family is happy and they tend to our needs/wants. The motel is great to stay at. I've stayed at a room with two double beds with friends a few years ago. The price was great and the room was even better. Had a mini fridge, tv, and full bathroom which was so great. My family and I stay at the biggest room with the biggest deck. I call this place my second home... two bedrooms with two double beds, 1 full and 1 half bathroom, a kitchen with a full table and fridge and an oven! There is plenty of room here, you can fit more than 6 people with the pull out couch they have. The best part about this room is the huge deck. We have our coffee out here and eat our breakfast, lunch and dinner here. And the view is by far the best in the whole town. It's why we stay in this room! They provide us with lounge chairs and a table on the deck. We can lay out if we want or just sit around the table and smoke cigars! The best part too is how close it is to the beach. You walk right down the stairs, pass the pool and the beach is right there waiting for you. It's so convenient if you need to use the bathroom or eat lunch quick. The beach is private, there's always room for you and your family to grab a nice spot close to the water. There's no one to the left or right of you on the other private beaches, it's amazing. And so much better than the other motels whose beaches are so packed. A life guard is always on duty as well. Theres a snack bar with breakfast and lunch options, and a newly renovated pool. This motel is down the street from the boardwalk and super close to restaurants and just a short drive into town. This is the place you gotta stay!!!! It's super cute and pretty with flowers and palm trees by the pool and seating area! The seating area is great for families who don't have a deck to hang out on, or for families to eat their dinner if they got take out. I recognize families who stay the same week as us every year and we always look forward to seeing them! I recommend to anyone who wants to stay in point pleasant. Call early for reservations because they get booked super quickly! I can't wait to go back next year, this is my home away from home!
