Where To Go When You Actually Want To Talk To People - London - The Infatuation

"The idea of swaggering up to a stranger is probably as inviting as licking a wasp. No, what you need is an in. You need ‘something to talk about’. Drink, Shop & Do is a spot in King’s Cross where you can, er, drink, shop, and do stuff. Emphasis on the ‘do’. They have regular nights of frankly, incredible fun, from a pimp your pineapple masterclass, to a Simpsons quiz night, to musical bingo. They’ve also got a 22-strong cocktail list (go for the Fresh Prince), and the kind of food you can pick at whilst learning to cross-stitch. Think, parma ham and goats cheese flatbreads, fresh cakes, and a mini pie board. Chatting to people is easy here, you just feel like you’re mucking in to a particularly boozy Blue Peter re-run." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver

The London Survival Guide: Where To Eat When You Just Moved Here - London - The Infatuation

"You Googled ‘how to make new friends in London’ and there were a lot of suggestions. Things like ‘join your local book club’, ‘start playing netball’, or, our personal favourite, ‘just walk up to people you think you’d get on with and say hello!’. Well, maybe you’re over reading Fitzgerald for fun, you’ve never been athletic, and you don’t want to get arrested. It’s okay, Drink, Shop and Do in King’s Cross have fun activites (yes, they exist), like Simpsons quiz nights, musical bingo, and even pimp your pineapple classes. Plus, it’s always easier to start a conversation with a stranger when you’ve got a 22-strong menu of cocktails at your disposal. Be sure to try one of their fresh cakes with your potential new pals." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver

Had a great time!! The atmosphere is amazing, staff are friendly, food was nice and prices quite reasonable. Can’t wait to come back again. Love the idea of arts and crafts with a drink / meal. Very close to Kings Cross station.

Drink shop & Do is such a fun place to visit. Not only a bar and restaurant but quirky activities hub. It's great to hangout with friends doing something with crafts and grabbing a bite to eat. So far we've made paper mache love bugs and taken part in a Thriller dance class. Also activities are really reasonably priced considering it's in Kings Cross. Looking for something different to do check out their website.

Yesterday, 12 humans and about 30 teddy bears attended afternoon tea and enjoyed amazing sandwiches, scones and cakes, not to mention bottomless Prosecco which really was bottomless hic! Thank you to Falon for the excellent bear-friendly service and to Lily for keeping that Prosecco coming! We had a lovely afternoon.

Has so much fun here! Booked in for a hen and did bottomless brunch with hen games as our DO. It was fantastic. Service was excellent. Food was delicious and the games were hilarious! Will definitely be looking to come back again.

On behalf of 30 teddy bears and their associated humans, I want to thank Falon and Lily for a great afternoon at Drink Shop Do's Afternoon Tea The sandwiches were very tasty and the cakes were amazing - the scones were as big as some of us bears (bigger than some!) There was so much jam and clotted cream we did not go short and certainly never ran out of bottomless Prosecco, which was really really nice.

Delicious latte and decaf latte. Great for brunch or just to grab a drink. They have an under “basement “ bar area great for groups and dates. This place is a gem in the area and it is open until late

Lovely staff, beautiful venue, great value (£26 unlimited brunch). Vegan and gluten-free options BUT not both at the same time which is a shame even though I could order all the toppings without bagel/gluten-free toast.

This place is great for tea and cake. The gluten free pistachio cake is a must! I like it for one time but I wouldn't come back.

Yelp
If you are looking for fun and booze, definitely it's the place to go ! We tried the £26 bottomless brunch which was amazing ! We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and some virgin Bloody Mary. For the food, you have the choice between several bagels: I tried almost all of them but my favorites are the avocado one and the hummus one. So tasty and spicy! The only bad point about it, there no sweet option included in this menu. If you want cakes you have to pay extra, same for tea or coffee ( which are usually the main things to have during a brunch) Good price for food and bubbles. It seems it's a popular place for celebrations too!

Yelp
Looking for somewhere quirky and fun? Somewhere for a different date or a night out with the girls? Try Drink, Shop, Do. We went as a group of 18 girls and one guy and had such a fun evening. The wine was good, the cheeseboard had some really creamy and delicious cheese and, although it didn't have enough crackers, they did bring us some more when we asked. The night we went the activity was making Lionel Richie's face out of clay. Not your average night out but it was even more fun than imagined and we had such a laugh. We then spent the rest of the night in the bar downstairs. The music improved as the night went on and we were all up on the dance floor. Look out for the button on the back wall. When the music stops, if you press the button first, you get a free beer. It's a bit tricky if you're 5ft 1/2in like me as it's pretty high up but there is a stool. Just don't climb on the shelf as apparently it's not safe! We didn't actually look at the shop bit of Drink, Shop, Do but the drinking and doing were fun. I'll be back for one of their other fun sessions.

Yelp
Want a fun night out with drinks and a souvenir to take home? Fancy a bit of arts and crafts then look no further! This place after dark comes the special workshop where you can learn to do a craft while getting drunk if that's your thing... However if you're doing the screen printing workshop using the Sharp knife then I say go slow on the cocktail! Zeena the tutor was very good, and passionate about her art, really encouraging and for a novice I feel like I can draw anything lol... Did my signature pug design and I think if I keep this up I can open my own shop soon with all the crafts I'm learning on the way. Venue is small so book quickly. £18.70 for either a design on tea towel or tote bag..

Yelp
Adorable vintage cafe in a surprising area (normally I find king's cross pretty sketch). The venue starts with a little shop area when you enter where you can buy stationary, candy, tea cups, etc. Then you go up half a flight of stairs and it opens up into a lounge area with lots of tables and comfy chairs and a little counter where you can order yummy food and drinks. We ordered finger sandwiches, couscous, a lemon cake, tea and coffee. Everything was delicious! There's a wide range of teas you can browse along the wall, I got a fruity one and it was great. All the tables have board games, mostly scrabble I think.. or maybe it was just cause we were there on "Scrabble Sunday!" I also saw connect four, monopoly, etc. Though our scrabble board wasn't particularly impressive, it was a wonderfully lazy Sunday I'd repeat in a second. Also, on your way out, you can buy a fizz wiz for 30p. I'm in love with this place.

Yelp
This lot take coffee seriously. We go here after lunch sometimes for a double espresso and I never leave feeling disappointed. The staff are always super friendly and seem to really know their stuff. Highlighting their expertise you can also buy coffee making equipment here, which to my unsophisticated eye appears pretty niche. There isn't a great deal of seating and this certainly isn't the somewhere you would sit with your laptop and do work but it has a real continental relaxed feel that renders this unimportant. They lose a star purely on the occasional delay in the time it takes for them to produce the coffee, lending a certain irony to their name. However, I'm pretty sure this is due to their meticulous preparation rather than laziness.

Yelp
Drink, Shop and Dance can be found if you wander through to the back of 'Drink, Shop and Do' http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/drink-shop-and-do-london and head down the stairs. The menu described itself as a 'new late night venue in a former sex shop.' While upstairs is bright, kooky and cute...down here was moody with black walls and funky art deco furniture. There is a pretty decent selection of spirits...including a huuuge range of gin, and a page of wobble-making cocktails. We tried two cocktails; one involved marmalade and tasted like candy...but my friend said the other one reminded her of her grandma's mouthwash. Hmmm. To be honest, this place felt like it was trying just a teeny bit too hard to be cool and different... maybe it works better late at night??? I'd like to come back and give this place another try with some of the other cocktails...but so far, I'm not convinced I'd trek all the way to Kings Cross to pay £8 for 'granny's mouthwash.'

Yelp
Pretty cool place for a laid back lazy sunday afternoon. I came and played scrabble for a couple hours in a comfortable armchair, enjoying the food and the drinks. Probably a perfect fit to fight a medium hangover with coffee and brownies, or the surprisingly good "couscous" as they name it. I don't let go five stars that easy but after an hour of soft Ella Fitzgerald in the subdued lighting of a table lamp I felt better than home. The overall feeling is "Ella and Louis have a tea party with the March Hare and the Hatter" and the lemon brownie really seems to say "eat me" I didn't check at all the shopping part of the concept. I understand that you can buy anything that has a tag, the paintings, the chair you're sitting on...not interested. But it totally deserves its 5 stars.

Yelp
Had a really good night here on my birthday! Was a tad disappointed to find out the "area" I had reserved was in fact a section of the dancefloor with no seating, which was a bit uncomfortable earlier on in the night, but once the dancing really got started everyone had a great time. It's well aimed at the late 20s crowd, playing a lot of hits from Ye Olde university days. Cocktails were really good too. I ordered a birthday cake which meant I didn't have to put money behind the bar; the cake was massive and delicious and the staff kindly packed up what was leftover to take home. Would definitely recommend Drink, Shop & Dance for a fun night out.

Yelp
This place is adorable. We popped in here after brunch for, you know, brunch dessert. CAKE! And tea, but mostly cake. The interior of this place is what I call hipster-cutesy, which I love. It's twee and happy and I loved all the colors and eclectic vintage furnishings. This day, it was someone's birthday, so they had huge party hats hanging from the ceiling as if they were floating, as well as other crafty signage and decorations. I was pretty into the branding. I had the red velvet, which as red velvet's go, was pretty tasty. I tend to like a bit more cocoa in my red velvet's, but there are several schools of thought on that, so I'll save that argument for another time. But my point is, it was a huge piece of cake, it was delicious and the frosting was on point. My girlfriend got the rose pistachio raspberry, which was tart and peeeenk! Sorry, I get excited about girl things sometimes. I hit the loo at one point to be delighted by the "adult & erotica" neon and silver glitter selfie wall. Very unexpected. This place was charming, the staff was sweet and patient while we made the agonizing decision of what cake to have (there were like, nine cakes, you guys -- all amazing options). I loved the calendar of classes and events... what a kooky, fun, unique space. Loved it!

Yelp
The relatively newly-opened Drink Shop and Dance is directly underneath the wonderful Drink Shop and Do, and it does what it says on the tin. It's much, MUCH darker down here, with decanters filled with candles providing most of the light. I had a great evening here recently at its Early Doors Disco club night, though it was a tiny bit on the cold side (air con). They serve food down here too though, and I'd never thought I'd say this as I like low lighting, but perhaps a little too dark to see what you're eating properly! But despite that very tiny quibble, it's a fantastic place and you're more likely to get a seat down here than upstairs, which is now incredibly popular.

Yelp
Still as amazing as it used to be... Great food and drink - the cake is yum... Love it here, although prices are a little steep the quality is worth it.

Yelp
This is a lovely, retro teashop, which also sells crafty bits, gift wrap etc. You wouldn't expect to find such a place in the Kings x area, so it was a fantastic surprise. Meet there with several other craftspeople on a Sunday afternoon and no one rushed us at all. The decor was so sweet, like sonething you'd find in tea shops of years gone by. Staff was pleasant, the coffee was wonderful. Those who ate seemed to enjoy their food. Recommended if you happen to be in the area. BeadedDelightsByStef on etsy.

Yelp
A unique retro-cafe decorated with hand made paper craft, origami cranes framing the ceiling skylight and seats flooded with a mellow, cool crowd with tea and coffee served in a collection of antique crockery. The cakes were somewhat mediocre but their tea was up to par, the shiny star goes to the service from the hipster-looking staff whom delivered a smiley and friendly service that would make mum proud. A great stop over if you are looking for an East London vibe, nostalgic for a 1930s charm, or just wishing to pass time around King's Cross while waiting for your next Eurostar train to whizz you off to Paris.

Yelp
My friends and I showed up for our Beyonce dance class without realising that the class had been cancelled a few hours ago. We were pretty annoyed at first but that changed pretty quick when we were offered a cocktail on the house and to have a class moved dates or refunded. I was so surprised I had never been to Drink, Shop, Do before. I loved the atmosphere and the vibe. The staff were really nice. The chick serving us even told us how to get another free cocktail by downloading an app. All around us people were drawing on mugs and since then I can't stop googling the upcoming events Drink, Shop, Do are having so I can come back!!!

Yelp
It's building lego but with wine! I've never been artistic so when my friends suggested an evening building robots out of lego I was not overly enthusiastic, however on being bribed with food and wine (lots of wine) I agreed to give it a go. Drink Shop Do is a really sweet little place with quirky tables and design, and everyting you see is for sale, from the table and chairs you are sitting on to the paintings on the wall. The food here was nice but simple with sandwiches and sharing platters. I had potted smoked mackeral on toast and it completely met my expectations, very yummy. They only have a very small selection of wine and it was a bit pricey in my opinion. A large glass of wine will set you back £8 and there is no saving on buying the bottle. Making the robots was ok. Like I said I'm not very artistic and at times I was a little bored but it was a competition, the best robot winning a round of drinks, and my competive streak did come out. Luckily my friends are very creative so we did not disgrace ourselves. Some of the other creations were fantastic. It's amazing what people can create with lego. We didn't win :( There are lots of different activities you can do here, and while I personally won't be running back to play with lego, I will go back and try my hand at some of the other events on offer. This place is definitely worth a visit, if for nothing more than to do something different on a cold winter's evening in London.

Yelp
i've walked by this new shop about a half dozen times. It's a bit unassuming, but do walk in and enter a lovely oasis of vintage chic. they have local designers with handcrafted goods and vintage teasets for reasonable prices. they also have furniture for sale. step upstairs in this old vicotrian bathhouse and it's an airy space for eats and crafting bathed in natural lighting. i'll be back to craft and drink.

Yelp
I desperately wanted to visit this cute vintage furniture shop/bar and tea rooms for some time and only intended to pop in for a quickie tea and then leave. We ended up staying until closing time and they practically had to chuck us out. I blame the board games - we played Risk, sipped on the wide tea selection, and ate cous cous. The only downside after all the tea was that their toilets were out of order and we had break away from our board game revelry to scuttle through the bitter cold to the closest pub. Everything in the shop is for sale from the tables and seats that we were sitting on, to the tea-pots we were using - begging the question what would have happened if a buyer for these items did come along? Pretty items for sale, lovely surroundings, tea, mulled wine and cake. Perfect ingredients for a lovely Sunday. I can fast see this becoming a haunt of mine.

Yelp
What a charming, fun, eccentric place this is. Bang next door to one of the remaining sex shops in the area, it looks like a small stationary shop. Walk in to be greeted by cards, nicknacks, the odd cushion, cute notepads and the like. It's small but what's in there is smartly designed and cool. But venture up the stairs and the place suddenly opens out into a huge, nay cavernous tea hall with a big bar laden with home made cakes. Tables are dotted around and none of the chairs match. Sit at a table and someone comes over to serve. Ask for tea and cake and they come back with a bonkers pot filled with tea and delicate bone china cups and saucers - none matching. It's brilliant. You sit there sipping and munching feeling ever so English and quite cool in a quirky sort of way. The hall is decorated in a higgledy piggledy manner and is all the more charming for it. A battered juke box here, a mad bit of art hanging there, some mobiles dangling from the ceiling. A great place to while away an hour. And the cake is delicious. This place is a gem and a good example of the changing face of Kings Cross. A bit hip but still down to earth. In fact between this place and Simmons across the road they've got hip all sewn up. I believe the tea hall becomes a club which is open till late. Worth a gander if you're round there late doors. They serve alcohol and breakfasts as well as the cakes. Take a visit. It's well worth it.

Yelp
I want to live in Drink, Shop & Do. It is just lovely. My friend and I came here on a Friday afternoon for a cheeky cocktail, and had a rather wonderful time catching up. The decor is just wonderful. If I could deck my flat out like that, I would. The girls working there had some serious style, and I had severe dress envy! I will definitely be returning here with more vintage-loving friends in tow.

Yelp
Cuteness everywhere, from the stuff they sell, the decoration and furniture you can admire, to the food and drinks they serve. I can easily see myself coming here once a week to meet friends for a drink. And maybe a game. The shop offers board games and during this holiday season you can make cards for free with the purchase of a drink. Score. The card I made wasn't as cute as I was hoping but that's okay. Just another reason to come back and try again.

Yelp
Drink, Shop, and Do is an excellent place to while away a rainy day. They have an incredibly diverse selection of teas so make sure to set aside at least 15 minutes to ponder the menu. The tea is more or less bottomless as each tea comes in its own teapot and they are happy to continue to top up the hot water. There is also a selection of more alcoholic beverages if you should fancy continuing your drinking into the night although I believe they close fairly early around 8 or 9. This is, after all, more a café than a bar. The entrance hall is a cute little shop with various things you will never need but invariably decide you want from specialty (and hilarious) rulers to fun presents for friends. One of my favourite aspects is the sheer number of board games and puzzles they have lying around. Don't see something you like? Start opening cupboards to reveal a host of treasures. It's a bit like going to your Nana's house when you are a kid. You get a bit bored and start exploring to see what the place contains. You never know just what will jump out at you when you open a bookcase or drawer. As the name suggests, you can drink and do a bit of kitschy shopping, but they also have nightly activities from board game nights to arts and crafts and pretty much anything else you can imagine. Overall, a winner in the KX area and a great standby whenever you are board and don't know quite what to do.

Yelp
My first time here I didn't know what to expect. I knew they sold amazing milkshakes, had a variety of activities and was a mix of shop, cafe, and bar. This sounded like it would be my dream venue, turns out that it was! First off, check the website and find an event/activity that interests you. You can build Lego's, colour pictures, make things, etc. There's always something different and fun to do. Most are free or cheap as well. This makes for a great first date place as it gives you something to do together and prevents any awkward silences. I've had some of the food here and enjoyed it all. The downstairs bar hosts events as well where they make a mean cocktail. It's a former sex shop, which you're reminded of when you go down the steps where the former sign still stands. Can't fault this place for much, you can even buy some unique stationary and sweets on the way out!

Yelp
I had a great time at Drink, Shop & Do. Booked in for a garter making/afternoon tea hen party of about 14 people I'm sure they weren't looking forward to us descending upon them but they were super welcoming and all the staff greeted us as we walked through to the back room, disco ball looming large over our heads, and were seated at a gorgeously decorated table; mismatching cups & saucers, milk bottles of flowers, and pots of Yorkshire tea and Earl Grey, ready for us to sit and sup. I think my mum ended up drinking out of a sugar pot, but hey, that's the fun of it! The garter making itself was great, and the atmosphere of Drink, Shop & Do really suits this sort of activity. The teacher was a bit overwhelmed with the number of people, meaning it took a while for everything to actually get started and for everyone to understand what was going on, and the ribbons & lace were unfortunately only in one box, not great for 14 women who know what they want! I was fortunate enough to be sat at the crafty lady end of the table so I didn't have to be too aware of what the teacher was saying and could be shown by those around me. Once we all got started, the teacher was much more at ease, helping to thread needles and even getting a lamp for one member of the party - it's a dark place, so be aware if you're going to be doing any sort of needlework! Once we had downed needles, we moved on to afternoon tea. Throughout our activity we were given tea and milk but by the end we were all ready for something a bit stronger, so the bellini's really helped; cava with a splash of peach puree, it added a real special element to the afternoon. Afternoon tea stands were handed out one between two and we all tucked into an array of sandwiches, savoury & sweet scones, and delicate cakes - a heart brownie, lemon drizzle, victoria sponge, and bakewell tart. Everything could probably do with a bit of tighening up i.e. scones were a bit dense, but I think that's to be expected when you're putting out that much food for so many people. Although we considered another bellini it was £7.50! Despite the great decorations and atmosphere, you can't avoid the London prices. We ended up getting two bottles of cava for £24 a pop, which seemed much more reasonable. The small shop at the entrance was nice for a nosey around afterwards and the area downstairs seemed worth a snoop, with a great flashy erotica sign above the door - something from their days as an adult shop perhaps? I can't comment much on the price due to it being pre-paid, but it was a great experience and lovely to find something different to do in London. Now, if only I was better at crafts....

Yelp
If Yelp had a mechanism for a half star, this place would get bumped up to a 4.5. I haven't been to any other place like this in London, and was pretty surprised by how eclectic it was when I came here to meet some friends! The only information I had gotten from my friends was that we were going to be doing some sort of crafty thing... I had no idea what this place even was, and I'm not sure I still do even now! When you enter, there's a small shop with a variety of cute knick knacks and fun trinkets. As you walk in further, you can either go upstairs, which is the cafe/restaurant, or downstairs, which I believe is a bar or maybe even a club? The night I went, there was a Valentines Day event sometime in January and they provided a box of supplies and stationary for you to make cards for your loved ones! The craft supplies that the place provided themselves were not very good... but it was free so what can you expect? However, my friends are craft queens and brought a crazy load of pink and red papers, glitter, glue, puffy paint, stickers... craft supplies to your heart's content! According to my friend, this place has a bunch of events happening all the time, almost every night! Some of the events look especially fun and interesting, and I think most of them are geared towards girly stuff like knitting or poetry readings or something. I saw some events I really wanted to partake in! I imagine this is the kind of place where women congregate to discuss feminist movements and cupcake decor. It was mostly groups of female friends participating at the V-day event, although I did see some (reluctant) boyfriends there. Nonetheless, the space itself is BEAUTIFUL, and what's cool is that everything in the store is on sale, from the tables and chairs to the art on the walls, which features new artists every week. now THAT'S pretty amazing. The cafe is extremely adorable and girly and I will definitely be back. However, I remember my tea being expensive... something like £8... or maybe it was £6, something ridiculous! Also, the service was slow but maybe that was because of the crazy craft night. Anyway, I'll give this a try again just because the concept of the place itself is so awesome!

Yelp
I love this place, a very charming treasure trove full to the brim with crafty finds and sweet treats. It is one of my new favourite places and it just happens to be half way home for me! (a perfect excuse to clamber out of a squashed tube.) The atmosphere is very friendly, a little bit hip maybe, but still relaxed. There is a full food and drinks menu on offer here, but I have to say I have only ever been for drinks and/or food to pick at with friends. I can highly recommend the homemade cakes though ... and the cocktails slip down nicely too! What makes this place a little bit special is the exciting calendar of events hosted almost every night. My first trip resulted in an attempt to craft a version of Patrick Swayze's head out of clay, a bit less wine and I might have had a fighting chance of winning! Head downstairs and you are greeted with a slightly different vibe, more of an after dark drinking den with an eclectic (and at times slightly questionable) juke box. This is a great place to drink some lovely concoctions, shop for interesting gifts and do something a little bit different with your evening.

Yelp
Love bringing friends here when I need a great place to meet for coffee. It's quirky inside and the cakes are AMAZING! The Oreo or Malteaser Chocolate Cake are a must, and the Apple and Earl Grey was surprisingly delicious too. Taking a star off though as they add service charge, which I don't think should be added for just coffee and cake... I usually leave a tip, but I don't like it being added on presumptively.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to go to Drink, Shop & Do on a Sunday before she got her train home from Kings X. Mainly persuaded by the photos of their cakes and the promise of board games, we got there about 1pm without a reservation and we were easily seated. The inside is really nice and bright with mismatched chairs and tables (some tables remind me of old school halls). We instantly decided to go for the weekday tea (sandwiches, piece of cake and a pot of tea) for a reasonable £15. We were both so impressed by the sandwiches - 3 each, open topped, toasted seeded bread, with delicious toppings (classic with a twist). We also got a choice of cake each and they also brought out two surprise ones. I can highly recommend their red velvet! Tea selections were also good with plenty in a pot! To finish we also both got a cocktail and were impressed with both (mine was rose/ turkish delight - very good!). Overall we were there for nearly 3 hours playing games, eating and drinking. We weren't rushed but also not ignored. Recommend giving yourself plenty of time on a Sunday to play all the games (scrabble, guess who, battle ships and more available). They also do lots of event during the week (Lionel rich tea decorating, musical bingo, lego robots, dance classes) some of which are free and some of which are not (£10-15) and then it also becomes more of a bar/ club later in the evening. Really recommend this venue; always offers something different, definitely makes a memorable visit!

Yelp
A very cute combination shop, cocktail bar, and tea cafe. Lots of antiques for sale, and a nice selection of menu items and teas to peruse. Order at the bar upstairs, then have a seat. £2 pots of tea. No free Wifi, but if you can access BTOpenzone or BTFon, you're in luck. My only qualm is that the teabags(hand filled with loose leaf, it appeared) were left in my pot, and by the time I realized this, the rest of my pot was way over steeped. So heads up to remove your teabags from the pot, or ask for them to just bring the pot of water and bags separate to your table and add them yourself. Lovely skylight as well, makes the space feel very open and light. Haven't been for an event night yet, but looking forward to it.

Yelp
I want to go here again before I decide whether this place is three stars or four, but I'll err on the nice side until then. My first reaction was to roll my eyes - there are boomboxes hung on the wall. Youth-catering bars: STOP IT WITH THE VINTAGE SCHTICK FOR FIVE SECONDS. But I did really enjoy the music and the beer selection was good. As it got later, the crowd got hipper and I felt more ready to go home. Still, really enjoyed the music, but it took a while to get a drink and, having come from work, I wasn't dressed to impress that sort of crowd. Oh, there are cross stitch pictures in the women's restroom, which gains mega points. There's also a staff door that can only be accessed through the ladies' room, meaning men are constantly walking in and out. That part is really strange and might be a problem for conservative types.

Yelp
Went without knowing a thing and it was a real surprise and pleasure. I was there in the evening so it was a little peruse of the shop and then mainly absorbing the ambience and cocktails. I believe there is a lot more of the 'do' in the daytime. They have a great array of craft and craft-inspired design, comfy seats, cheesy music. I know it's been used a lot in other reviews, but cute really is the word. My only bugbear is that, though the cocktails were top notch and well crafted, they could have done with a bit more of a variety in the selection. I have rarely seen such amazing things done with sherbert, fruits and sour cherry, but if that's not your thing then you were stuck with the mediocre beer selection. Decent bottle beers are surely not hard to find after all. But it's not like I said this to anyone - my mouth was too full of amazing cakes...

Yelp
Always a fun night here, but some of the worst cocktails ever recently. Just a dodgy trainee barman? Friendly crowd and well decorated interior with a tuck shop of sweets at the front - and the staff are lovely. You can reserve tables and the Friday night was free. They also host Beyonce dance classes occasionally, tho watch out for broken glass!

Yelp
Super cute shop/restaurant! All the people who work there are super nice. We celebrated our birthdays and got even a special birthday card. If you can't finish you get a doggy bag! AND there are glitters in the bilini ()!

Yelp
Fun, quirky, amusing, well designed venue with a touch of 'shabby chic'. Well made cocktails served by nice bar staff....all cleverly disguised as a shop, which stops it getting over crowded! Great place whether you want drinks as a couple, a larger group of if you fancy joining in the fun activities. I can vouch for the 'Lionel Rich Tea' experience!...most amusing.

Yelp
I find this place a little...weird. Quirky? Is quirky a more positive framing of 'weird'? Sure. Let's say...quirky. But...I think that's the point. It's basically a hipster typographer's dream-shoppe by day (think, out front: screen-printed tea towels, original cards, and little tchotchkes), with an bright open space for tea 'round back. Then, 'round witching hour...it turns all bar-y. And dance beats start a-thumpin'. I have nothing specifically strong to say one way or another about this. I like the music selection on Friday and Saturday nights - a lot of hip-pop, a lot of croon-able hits, a lot of things to whip your hair back and forth to - and there's never too oppressively long a queue at the bar (Protip: get the drink in a pitcher - then you're set). Bathrooms have more stalls than many venues, and are clean. Demographic varies, but is generally fun loving and down for group merging on the dance floor (show us your moves!). So yeah, free entry pre-10pm for the dancing. And some weird chocolates offered by an adorable woman at the door as you exit? I had been drinking so this just felt like THE BEST AND THE WEIRDEST THING EVER, SIMULTANEOUSLY. Yelp note: check out their schedule of activities online. SO! MANY! OPTIONS! See, in particular - BEYONCE DANCE CLASSES #bowdown #queenBey

Yelp
Penny sweets, perfect cocktails, quirky interior, decent DJ and a great crowd. Drink, Shop & Do has everything I could dare to hope for when looking for some late night booze and bopping. A good start is always important, and how to beat the opportunity to gorge oneself on sherbet flying saucers when one has barely taken a step inside? That's what the charming shop entrance offers, with jars of enticing penny sweets lined up against the white walls brightened up with the colours of various products on sale. Yum. Go up the steps and you'll find yourself in a bar with tables and chairs. My old-fashioned was delicious, and the crowd a friendly, relaxed bunch of late 20somethings and early 30somethings enjoying the hip hop music. Head down into the basement and you'll find another bar, much the same crowd but with most floorspace for dancing. And indeed, that is another area where Drink, Shop & Do scores - the sensible admissions policy adopted on the evening we went resulted in space available to dance, rather than bob around cautiously on the spot for fear of inadvertently starting a fight as is too often the case elsewhere. The cocktails were again made with love and knowledge - really good. In all, I had a lot of fun here. It makes me want to return to check it out during the day, but from what I've seen so far, reckon that I'll just be loving it all the more.

Yelp
If you happen to be looking for a place to meet the girls and are craving some amazing cake, take a look at Drink, Shop & Do. Now I have been here on numerous occasions for lunch/tea, and I never leave disappointed. The people that work here are friendly and honest, while the drinks are brilliant. Now I have seen they have the odd event here which including a dance class teaching you those classic moves like the Hammer Dance, and I must say I am incredibly tempted. Expect some eclectic and vintage inspired decor, tasty food and lovely company.

Yelp
This place is amazing if you are looking for something a bit out of the ordinary to do! They run a programme of events every week from 'Lionel Rich tea' to Hip- Hop colouring in and loads in between. It's great for Hen parties or random nights out. The venue itself is fairly small and looks quite unassuming from the outside. The tea shop is quaint and the place turns into a bar later on. Drinks are ok price wise but I'm not sure I would come here just for a night out. Overall its great if you are going to one of their events, well worth checking out!

Yelp
Cosy, adorable and a diamond in the rough on Caledonian Road. I happened to walk by this place, which has obviously been lovingly decorated in a kitschy vintage style. Absolutely love it and look forward to many cuppas there.

Yelp
The thing I love about Kings Cross is that everytime I get a chance to wander around in my lunch hour (which isn't often!) I find a little gem tucked away down a side road or posing as a gift shop to eat in. Drink Shop Do is exactly one of these. From the outside, it looks like a trendy souvenir shop but last week I noticed that in fact that gift shop was only a ruse and in the back there is a beautiful coffee shop. Its decorated in Victorian style and absolutely everything (from the finger sandwiches to the table you eat at) is for sale. I eyed up a £90 red fold-out table for the duration of my meal and was also very tempted by the cute mugs and cutlery that I ended up using! If you are in the area, I highly recommend you go here. It's got that lovely Mad Hatter's Tea Party feel and would a great place for a girly catch up or to take someone uber-cool you wanted to impress.

Yelp
So this place is delightful and A few things (I will outline below meant I didn't give it 5 stars) So We booked for a hen do - sash making - which I wasn't sure how they would do it, but it was good. Atmosphere: daytime it was open area with a skylight - very airy, think tea room meets cafe. They have a selection of cakes at the bar area, and the music is a bit retro and sometimes modern, but not loud enough to impose on your experience. Staff: Bit of a mix, some really friendly, some friendly but not helpful. Seems everyone is super helpful and keen, but i felt like there was a mild lack of communication between staff. Everyone doing their bits bot not talking to their colleagues. And this translated to timings, and it gave me a sense that i was being churned through the system. Activity: I really enjoyed this, and I was glad the staff member had time with me, I was really late, to support me, the selection of fabrics was great, but i felt like the fabrics and letters were all very much on brand of the place, it didn't really give me much freedom if i'm honest to get outside the floral tastes. I went with the intention of making some garish and tacky, but essentially all of ours looked the same, they hard florals, and the stencils of hearts and flowers - and the nature of a hen do is that there is a mix of people - they didn't really accommodate different tastes and styles in their resources. Timing: I thought this was off, I felt like the place hadn't really thought of the timing of the tea/cake activity. It appeared out of nowhere in the middle, and we had to make room, rather than the staff. Then we had to ask for tea... yes for the afternoon tea - after the cake had arrived. It felt like they'd dumped 2 activities on top of each other, and made the customers sort it all out. Food: the food was delightful! As a FODMAP FREE option - they had gluten free, However, the toppings were a bit dry - and we only got one scone, and the gluten free scone was tiny in comparison to the main one. Oh and the cream was definately no proper clotted/devon cream, and the jam was on the jelly side of jam - and if your scone/cream/jam isn't top notch in your afternoon team - then what is the point? Summary - Great atmosphere - Great activity - Great food - inconsistent service - Felt like I was being churned through there timing, - Timings were all over the place - The afternoon tea cream and jam need replacing. - The resources need diversifying. I gave it 4 stars - so those little things are really just a few pointers, the bothered me., but probably don't bother many other people (except ALL of us noted on the cream)

Yelp
Quirky place in a part of kings cross that gets better every day. This could be the girliest bar I've ever been to. Lovely people and fun decor. It took me a while to realise as it began to fill up that I really was going to be the only man there. As I sipped my pink cocktail and gazed at the red velvet cake the ladies kept coming in and clearly love this place, it's very relaxed and the drinks are great. It seems like the sort of place that changes character as the evening wears on so I don't know about later but for an early Friday evening drink it was a good start to the night

Yelp
Visited Drink, Shop, Do for a parlour game night tonight (think articulate, charades and play doh-based games). And I bloody loved it. I ordered a couple of drinks and a slice of carrot cake that rates as one of the best I've ever tried. Moist, generous with the cream cheese icing and packed full of favour. It's not cheap, £10 for two drinks and a slice of cake, but I'd happily spend an afternoon here with a friend. Particularly as I spotted a big stack of board games for future visits. A fantastic idea, and one I hope springs up closer to me!

Yelp
trendy bourgeois bohem setting, a bit of vintage, a drip of candy a collection of rainbowed artifacts. On the positive side, the drink and the food. Mouth dripping display of ecclectic jars and cake stands. Oreao wagon (smoothie) and various floats teleport you straight to an idea of the 50's US style. On the down side, last sunday was dead slow....... More than 60min for a tea pot...... The staff looked out of their scope. They were five (more than enough for the capacity) but none were up to the task. In conclusion, a great setting let down by the staff.

Yelp
Oh heavens, may I move in please? I'll be quiet as a church mouse, knitting and drinking in the corner! What a brilliant concept, this place! Drinks, craft bits and bobs, live music and events, and all in a bright and colourful space. The drinks are delicious and I really could spend every day there. Allowed perhaps? What if I sweep up at closing? One can dream...

Yelp
I've only tried 2 of the 3 activities listed in the name of this quirky little shop/bar. I have both drunk and shopped, I've seen people "doing", but I didn't dare join them, they had needles it was Kings Cross, I could have got Hepatitis, ok they were knitting, BUT STILL. Anyway, this place has potential, on the shopping side it sells pretty (if pricey) things. The space has tons of character, and it has a good mix of unusual pieces. I can experience vintage 'fatigue' but this place stops short of being too saccharine with some more edgy details. It's dropped stars because the drinking and food was less successful. I've been twice, Friday lunch time the staff seemed completely overwhelmed by quite a small crowd. On a Friday evening a couple of weeks later things were much better but, still smarting from the last visit we only ordered a bottle of wine, and you can't really mess that up can you? The impression I had was that the people who have set it up had a lovely idea, and some real passion but not much bar experience. It's a charming place, worth a visit definitely but it's a work in progress, so I'll go back when they've got into their stride.

Yelp
This place has such promise and the concept is so cool! But I think they are a victim of their own popularily. I booked a big group of ladies for vintage hair and makeup as a hen-party celebration. All-in-all our hen and ladies had a lovely day, but there were some issues. I have given the feedback below to the as well and they have been super gracious about it and even offered us free cake and cocktails! So I think they are trying, and maybe they just had a bad day.... What we loved: The space - perfect for the size. Cool decor etc The girl who did our hair - she was an absolute genius and so lovely! The food - delicious cakes, cocktails and gluten free option too! The waitresses - all lovely friendly and helpful What we weren't so happy with: -When we arrived - there didn't seem to be anything set up, we didnt' feel looked after and didn't really know what was happening. I had to come up, queue at the bar and ask what the plan was, and ask for the food to be brought out. Even after this it took ages. We just felt that we didn't get made to feel as special as we would have hoped! A dedicated hostess for the table - who was there to take drinks orders, answer questions and help the flow would have been great. -Being offered drinks when we arrived would have been nice too. To have to queue at the bar to order £30 bubbles doesn't seem right! -When the food came it was all a bit confused. We thought we'd get that 'high tea' type service - perhaps tea poured rather than just teapots plonked on tables. Also the waitresses put all the food on one table leaving others without food! If you are charging for 'service' you have to provide that service we felt! -Finally the makeup - our makeup girl was over half an hour late, for a session that already had too many people to be done properly in the time slot allocated. By the end she was really rushing, and one girl didn't even get mascara. She basically only had time to just give everyone the same makeup - rather than ask us what we want like the hair girl did. We all have our off days, and she admitted she had been out all night - which would have been fine with us as long as we had time for everyone. -At the end we felt a little bit 'kicked out' which would have been fine if we'd had the time for everyone to get their hair & makeup. Perhaps for groups as large as ours you could extend the session or get more hair & makeup people in.

Yelp
Finally made it to this sweet cafe for a blog event yesterday after hearing good things. The shop front looks small but cafe goes deep in to the back where there is even a small private room where our event was being held. The main cafe area is colourful, bright and well lit thanks to the sky light. I had a slice of the red velvet cake which was absolutely divine! The various crafts/activities that take place here are also varied and well worth checking out Lionel Rich-tea anyone?
