We almost didn't go because of some random reviews.. but glad we did! Those steak loaded fries were awesome and because i was already full i ordered a salade with shrimp and chicken. Well it was awesome! So the next day we did run the whole street and didn't find anything else (that we would like).. so we went again! Ordered a lot of to share and everything was great!!

It was…fine. Nothing wrong with service, but I don’t know that I could recommend this to anyone in good conscience. The drinks were okay, I didn’t feel compelled to order another. The chicken sandwich was good but not great, especially since a couple of great ones are 1-3 blocks away. The fries were tasty but over salted. And the most baffling, the fried green beans were just fried for some reason. Idk, I was expecting breaded or at least something more exciting than limp, greasy green beans. Better options at this price point.

Very, very cute spot on the east side. Very cute space, great service, and good food! The menu is small, but the food is great and okay portions. Only a few of tap but they have a full bar. I didn't 5 star it because lack of beer options, limited menu items, and a tad high on prices. Overall still a place everyone should check out!

My friend told me this place had a Peruvian inspired menu and drinks so I had to check it out! I tried the Chicha Morada and the Maracu-Yah! And both were delicious. Not too sweet and could definitely taste the liquor. Jose, the bartender, had great menu recommendations and was very attentive and nice. We ordered the huancaina fries, rock(something) ceviche, and pan con chicharrón. The fries were BOMB, spicy and so flavorful. It’s a big portion of fries. The ceviche was good, and the pan con chicharrón was very good too (needed a little more acidity/citrus). But overall, I enjoyed everything and will come back to try other things! Service was amazing and the ambiance is nice. I do wish they also had some appetizers in happy hour, maybe in smaller portions.

No baby changing station in the bathrooms! My original review was 5 stars. I went back last week and was very disappointed. They took my order.... and they were obviously under staffed. After a long wait. They let me know that they were out of ketchup, mustard and special sauce. The reason? The orders didn’t come. I’m not so mad that they didn’t have all this. But at least let me know before you take my order. Not a fan of fries and no ketchup! Cannot beat the price 💵! The hamburger 🍔 was delicious! The Truffle 🍟 and sauce were yummy 😋. Unfortunately beer 🍺 was not cold ❄️! Need hit the hydraulics on the fridge and go low! They did have a nice selection of brewskies 🍻! The staff were super friendly and having fun working! Love to see that attitude!

Drop Kick is pretty much everything anyone could want from a restaurant. Though they're only currently offering take out due to COVID19 we can't wait till we can join them again for dining in. Every dish is full of flavor and you can tell how much care has been put into each element of every dish. You can't really go wrong with whatever you order but I'd highly recommend the rib flautas, the carrots, the burger, ANY of the cocktails and DO NOT MISS OUT on the doughnut!!! 🤤🤤🤤

Relaxed atmosphere, convenient location with a “hip” urban vibe and all that jazz. The space is littered with random tags and marker drawings on various surfaces. I wrote “deeply fried into a deep space mind” onto my eyeballs. I appreciate the simple, easy to interpret menu and tried out the veggie burger. Its size was pretty good - bigger than the Little (meat) Burger and pretty filling. Flavor-wise it had a “trying to be meat” reheated frozen patty type of texture...a little squishy and squeaky. But it still kind of hit the spot when dipped into their salty and mysterious fry sauce (which tastes like ketchup and mayo smothered in mustard, and is good on everything). The bun was bouncy and toasty. The truffle fries were the definite highlight of the meal - mad crunchy, with nice flavor. I’d go back just for the fries.

Both the service and the food were top notch. The bartender and the waitress tended to us while we sat at a corner table. We had a chicken sandwich and the roasted chicken. The chicken for both was so tender and juicy. I didn’t expect the food to look both beautifully presented and taste just as good. Can’t recommend this place enough. We will be back!

Yelp
Neat casual spot with lite bites and drinks! It was only the two of us & one other in the whole space bar so the service was quick however they were out of various items & mistakenly brought my friend the incorrect order. They quickly brought him an appetizer on the house which was DELICIOUS shrimp tostadas!!! I ordered the carnitas tacos but they were out of pork so they used chicken instead which I was plenty happy with and now hope to see on the menu!!!!

Yelp
It really feels like this place opened before they were ready which is a bummer bc it has potential. I like that it's finally a sports bar on east 6th.. that was much needed! Love all the TVs and open concept. I hate to jump right to the negative but let's get into it.... For starters, the restaurant was not very busy and somehow ran out of all beer while serving our table... I feel like that just can't happen at a bar on 6th street. Secondly, I ordered a burger but what I found strange was that the menu didn't list all of the ingredients/sauces that would come on it? .. Again all things making me think they opened too early. And I can't even sugar coat the wings... I'm a sauce girly so I love every sauce.. but I'll just say don't get the wings. I think if I came back here it would be to just watch a game but I probably wouldn't come for the food. I really hate to leave a bad review on a new place. I hope this place can save itself bc I feel like the east side could use a good sports bar.

Yelp
This place needs better advertising. We had seen this on Instagram over 3 months ago and wanted to pop in to see what replaced the old dropkick space. The ambiance is incredible and I was surprised at how empty it was. We ordered two drinks and fries and it was around 37 dollars. The service was fine. I think the cocktails were good but very pricey for that area. Other than the ambiance, this bar wasn't really a standout but like we may go back sometime in the next year.

Yelp
The word "blah" basically summarizes our experience at Recreation. The batter on my fish was rock hard and the fish itself was so chewy. The virgin spicy margarita essentially tasted like they put jalapeños in water. The service was ok. The vibes were mid. East 6th is known for great food and drinks so do yourself a favour and don't go to this place. The only thing this place did right was the aesthetic, at least it was pretty to look at.

Yelp
Big improvement from the previous esthetic. Clean and open atmosphere with glass bifold doors. They have 2 large screens for sports games. More upscale than the average pub. Great for light bites and a cocktail.

Yelp
Loved recreation for meeting up for dinner and drinks with a friend! Super cute atmosphere, and i have already visited again!

Yelp
Meh drinks. Bad beer selection. Over priced cocktails for quality I'd expect at a college bar. Attempts to make it sound fancy with ingredients like blackberry faill and are oversweet. Might enjoy if you're a basic bitch

Yelp
Food was overpriced and what you would expect from a concession stand. There was one person working FOH for the whole restaurant.

Yelp
Definitely one of the nicest "sports bars" I've been to in Austin. If you are similar to me, and have a boyfriend who loves to go out and watch football but you never love the drinks at a sports bars or the vibe, this is a great location to add to your watch list. So cute inside, lots of big tvs, and the icing on the cake, they actually have the game sound on. Which not many places do. We did not eat here but they are calling themselves a sports bar so to the reviews that say the food is subpar, I say, it's a sports bar. I'm assuming the food is just as good as your typical sports bar but the atmosphere is much nicer!

Yelp
I visited Recreation, While there were some notable highlights, a few shortcomings prevented it from being a 5 star experience. Ambiance: The atmosphere was pleasant, lighting and seating arrangements were comfortable enough for a casual dining experience. Service: The staff was friendly and welcoming. Food: The menu offered a decent variety, and the dishes we tried were good but not exceptional. The chicken sandwich was flavorful and well-prepared, but the Tostada lacked seasoning and came out very salty. Portions were fair for the price. Drinks: We had two drinks the michelada could have a little more seasoning and the midnight margarita was good but it tasted more like a regular margarita not much blackberry flavor on it.

Yelp

Yelp
Yummy food and drinks!! My friend and I went for a burger and margaritas, pleasantly surprised

Yelp
The drinks here are incredible! They have a great DJ on the weekends and the indoor/outdoor atmosphere is great. However, I really would not recommend dining here. After our party ordered, they came back saying they didn't have fries or burgers. Then the table next to us received an order of fries and burgers. The chicken quesadilla was just not great. We really love the service, ambiance, and drinks here! I just suggest eating before.

Yelp
I really loved the upscale sports bar vibe of the place - exactly what I have been looking for in Austin. There are both Indoor and outdoor seating options, where you can be out on a nice date and still watch the game. The calimari, tostadas, and gelato was great, and quite reasonable in price. My husband said the wagyu burger was just okay. The only thing I didn't like was that the music got pretty loud around 8:00/8:30pm on a Saturday, which made it seem like it was transitioning into more of a club scene. Overall, it was great and we will be back!

Yelp
Great food, great service, good people. I love the vibe inside. It's like a sports bars in Tulum. But don't count out the food it's top notch. I'm a big fan of the chicken sandwich and the fries. Their specialty drinks are also amazing. My favorite is the gin drink and I don't drink gin. Highly recommend if you're on the East side!

Yelp
I went here Friday night on October 25 and received the worst customer service and hospitality I ever endured from the manager who said his name was "chance". While my friend and I were sipping our full drinks that were just dropped off - Chance rudely walked up to us and said to " hurry up and finish your drinks because we're closed". Keep in mind the waitress had not even checked on us yet or dropped off the check. I flagged the waitress down for the check and just closed out within five minutes. He proceeds to walk up to us again and say "on your way out now!" In my face. Yes my drink was still mostly full. I left my subpar cocktail on the table and left. It's also worth noting the drinks were gross and inconsistent. They look better than they taste, that's for sure. I hope this review finds the owner of this bar. The Recreation desperately needs find a new manager. Your current one is incredibly rude and knows nothing about hospitality and how to treat paying customers. The subpar food, drinks, and poor customer service is probably why this restaurant was 70% empty on a Friday night. 0/5 stars. Will not be returning.
