"After closing in the early days of the pandemic, the Du Nord cocktail room — from Chris and Shanelle Montana of Du Nord Distillery, the country’s first Black-owned distillery — has reopened in the newly renovated Coliseum building on Lake Street. Go for the light-and-bright “Purple Reign” cocktail, a blend of vodka, blueberry, lemon, and thyme; the headier “Yeah You Right”, crowned with thin-sliced apples; or skip the decision making all together and ask the bartender for a rec." - Eater Staff

I had the best experience here!! Such a great cocktail room with the most delicious food I've had in ages The menu is shared with their new restaurant Laginappe(next door) and is New Orleans Creole style food and let me tell you it was fantastic Having traveled to NOLA in the past I can attest that this is the best style closest to authentic that I know of in the cities - sorry Mr Paul's!! The redfish is sooo delicious and I'm not usually a "greens"fan but those southern greens alongside the fish were a match made in heaven The charbroiled oysters were good-just make sure u squeeze the lemon as it makes them taste better The crispy boudin balls were a hit, that sauce was yum The cast iron jalapeño cornbread was out of this world!!! The apple bread pudding was soo good!! I need that recipe Now the cocktails were all delicious- the Bee Sting, Hurricane, Chicken Hawk were perfection Service was fabulous- and this place is amazing for their price point, I'll definitely be back!! Parking - available in the small lot next to the building *love that this is a community based operation and reopened after the MPLS riots- I hope they stick around

Man, this was hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was on point—a perfect mix of cozy and stylish. Whether you wanted to kick back on a couch for a chill night, grab a table for a full meal, or perch up on the bar stools, they had the setup for every vibe. Now, let’s talk food—phenomenal. The absolute star of the night? The Mussels Andouille. Every single bite was packed with flavor, and I honestly didn’t want it to end. I also tried the Sweet & Spicy Pork Rinds with Lavash Crackers, and they hit the spot. Then came the Fried Green Tomato, which took me right back to a classic Southern comfort feel—tangy, and just right. And the drinks? Next level. The Sazerac was smooth, strong, and everything you want in a well-made cocktail. But the real surprise was the Frieda Coffee Negroni—a bold mix of flavors that was unexpectedly amazing. This is definitely a sexy, grown-folks kind of spot, perfect for a date night, Valentine's Day, or just an elevated night out. You don't have to believe my words just look at my photos. Honestly, I’ll be back. No question.

We went here for the grand opening week. This would be a 3 and half star in some areas but we know they are new and going through some growing pains. We got a lot of the apps from their menu and some food from the resturant next door for entrees. They have a very nice modern space...kind of a weird location and the parking lot is super sketchy. they need to get some security out there on the weekends as a car was broken into while we were there for dinner. There is a homless encampment in the parking lot. The specialty drinks were cool..they actually have one with chicken broth in it. They should really look into tom getting some live music in there on the weekends as it will help with the atmosphere. We will go back to this place once they get their legs under them. We had the shrimp, and the grits and the burger option. They were all good. I also recommend trying their mixed blood whiskey...they make it and it is very good quality. Check it out!

The new Du Nord cocktail space is fantastic! The atmosphere is great with comfortable vintage furniture and a nice open layout. Everyone was very personable and friendly. The cocktails were great (the bee's sting was AWESOME if you like a little kick) and the food from the New Orleans style restaurant next door was fantastic. We'll definitely be going back.

To be honest I have not eaten anything yet, but I'm being asked to rate this place, so all stars for now cause walking through to our table everything looked great! The server has been pleasant. The lighting is nice! And I mean, this used to be an old Denys holy cow!

Had an amazing time here celebrating a friend's birthday. The waitress was amazing. She was prompt, personable, and had great suggestions for cocktails to try. I had the mezcal drink and it was absolutely delicious. I would suggest checking this place out. Only knock would be the plants infringe on the sitting area a little bit but that is a minor detail in an otherwise great experience.

I had a nice experience here. It's a beautiful interior, the waiters and bartenders were friendly, and the cocktails and food were delicious. Du Nord makes delicious spirits, and it's exciting to see them open up a new location in the area.

Yelp
Du Nord Cocktail Room is a true gem! This NOLA-inspired hotspot in Minnesota is a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of New Orleans. The food is exceptional, with po' boys, and other delights that will transport your taste buds to the Big Easy. The staff is warm and knowledgeable, with mixology masters behind the bar crafting creative cocktails that perfectly complement the food. The ambience is cozy and vibrant, with lively jazz tunes setting the tone for a fantastic night out. And the best part? Reasonably priced with generous portions, making it an unbeatable value. Overall, Du Nord Cocktail Room is a culinary and cocktail adventure that will leave you feeling like you're in the heart of New Orleans!

Yelp
Welcome back Du Nord! I've had many wonderful evenings and wonderful drinks with Du Nord back in the old cocktail room, so I could not wait to join them in their new space. It's been awesome seeming all the progress pics and leading up to opening day. I absolutely LOVE the new space in the Coliseum. It's comfortable, modern, and memorable. I really enjoyed looking at all the photos they have up. Onto the main event. Whereas I do miss a giant pickle along with my drinks, Du Nord staff has really upped the game on their food offerings! The jalapeño cornbread had the perfect texture and just the right amount of sweetness. My watermelon salad was refreshing and done just right. And the drinks, as always, were divine. Congratulations on your new chapter, Du Nord!

Yelp
A time was had at the soft opening for Du Nord Cocktail Room, as a +1. #teamplusone From the customer service, ambiance, yummy food & the hand crafted Du Nord cocktails , everything was chefs kiss. The ambiance & food scream NOLA, which is my favorite domestic city, with their charbroiled oysters, poboys, and my new fav, the watermelon salad. Conveniently located in the Coliseum Building (for OG South Siders, the old Dennys, but w/the door facing the lot), on East Lake Street & 27th street, adjacent to Aldi's, Wendy's & directly across from Auto Zone. #dunordcocktailroom #yelpmpls

Yelp
Also sharing the same building with lagnaippe is the distillery bar. This bar was lit up in blue and very intimate. We sat at one of the couch sections by the windows and bar tender came to greet us, same person from the restaurant. We didn't order any food, just shots of tequila and chatted with the girls. Definitely recommended this place to hangout. Free parking in their lot.

Yelp
We stopped by the cocktail room before a dinner reservation at Lagniappe (same building and owners). We were greeted right away, sat at the bar, and immediately loved the ambiance--the low lights, neon signs, rich colors, and live plants. I had the Apple Affair that was perfectly sweet and tasted like Fall. The bartender happily whipped up a tasty old fashioned for my partner as well. I appreciated that we were able to take our drinks to our dinner reservation as well.

Yelp
So happy Du Nord reopened! Wonderful cocktail menu and attentive service. We snacked on fries which were great, need to come back to try more food!

Yelp
Du Nord Cocktail Room has really upped their game since moving to the Historic Coliseum Building. First off, the space is moody, cozy and gorgeous. There are tables and chairs but also plush couches to chill on. The staff is so knowledgeable, friendly and sweet too. My brother accidentally spilled his drink (and he wasn't even tipsy at that point!) and they promptly swooped in to wipe everything up and remake the drink. But most importantly, let's discuss the food and drinks. The food is New Orleans inspired cuisine and pretty delicious for the price and amount. There is a good mix of gluten free, meat and vegetarian options. We ordered the oysters, grits and fried green tomatoes and really enjoyed them. The drinks were super tasty too. We thoroughly enjoyed the Bee Sting, French 75, Ring Around the Rosies, the Hurricane and the Marg. I was delighted to find out they can make a (darn good) gin gimlet as well. I can't wait to go back and try more!

Yelp
We went in on Saturday night just before 10:00. We sat at the bar. There were about 20 people in the bar and there were plenty of staff on hand. We waited a good 20 minutes to place our order, before we decided to leave. We'd come across town for the oysters, so it was waste of time. I can't comment on the food because we didn't get any.
