Always great to visit Duane and Nick! Spring has sprung and we have work yo do with the 10 blueberry plants, plants for pots and the garden! He’s well stocked for Mothers Day!

Jeremiah Gardner

Google
As an Arborist, I'm pretty finicky about my Christmas Tree. I can tell you right now that Nick and Duane source their trees from some of the best growers in the PNW. These trees excel in quality from other stands in the area. Nick hand picks these trees from the growers to haul back to the stand and they are A+ in structure and form as well as variety. No going to a tree farm to be disappointed in price and quality, they have it solved. Great trees for a great price!

Duane’s is a total gem. The produce is fresh and seasonal and so much cheaper than an organic grocery. It has a small town, casual, friendly vibe. I love going in without a list and just picking out whatever is fresh and in season. They also sell fresh flowers and veggie starts. Adore this place.

Chrissy Filla

Google
Great neighborhood staple. Staff is friendly and helpful. Selection is great. More of a seasonal selection than chain grocers.

Derek T

Google
Good spot. Lots of fresh fruit, some good options in starters, especially pepper and herbs. Prices a touch high but worth a stop.

JR Pelkola

Google
I stop by Duane’s once or twice a week for fresh fruit and veggies for dinners. Their selection isn’t huge, but they always seem to have what I need. Staff is always friendly and they’re always stocked with great seasonal items too.

Kate Kiatsiri

Google
Love fresh local fruits and vegetables here. Also seasonal plants all year round.

Dave

Google
Excited for another year of visiting Duane's. A hidden gem for fresh produce as well as a small grocery area. The employees are always willing to help and Duane loves to pick out ripe fruit if you ask.

Martha M.

Yelp
Good prices and selection of produce, so it was unfortunate that as my husband and daughter were walking in we got stared down by an employee there, she continued to watch us as we shopped around the small shop, did not feel welcoming at all, won't be coming back. From other reviews I read seems to be a common theme. Also what ever happened to seeded watermelons? Thought as a small produce shop you'd carry but nope all seedless

Sharis W.

Yelp
Friendly, Fast service the vegetables and fruits are extremely fresh, and they have a decent amount of stock. The herbs were fresh, and great prices for the bundles. Spent about $37 total and got all my necessities!

Sharon C.

Yelp
Great produce and reasonable prices. We get our fresh Christmas trees there every year.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Great local business. Most prices are better than the larger grocery stores and much better quality. They carry local suppliers too, so even if I just go in for some cilantro, I come out with some crème fresh for my tacos too.

Yanet L.

Yelp
Rude owner, you feel belittled and makes small remakes if you only come to buy small amounts of vegetables. So if your only going to buy just onions better go someplace else because they don't want your business.

Kelly P.

Yelp
I love this place! They have beautiful flowers, herbs, veggies and fruit starters throughout the year; Christmas trees in the holiday season; and fresh produce throughout the year. The produce hasn't disappointed me yet. I appreciate that they occasionally will have half of a melon or watermelon (or a hanging basket!) for sooo cheap. Like $10 for a hanging basket or $2 for half a honeydew. Oh, and there's Full Tilt ice cream pints and ice cream sandwich & Smith Bros dairy; eggs; And fixings for tacos or enchiladas. Sometimes there's a long line, but it goes pretty quickly. The people that I've met who work there are the owners or family. It warms my heart that there is a family-owned, small produce stand so close to my home. I feel so lucky to live nearby. Thanks for existing!

Bunny P.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about Duane and his employees. So happy to have them open during this pandemic. They are working very hard and everything they do is much appreciated by my whole family. Thank you Duane, you are a lifesaver!

Kathy G.

Yelp
Can't pass up a good strawberry sale, but make sure you don't go picking out the good boxes from the rotten moldy ones or the big guy behind the cash register will come at you huffin and puffin What a crank.

Alexander K.

Yelp
I like the selection here. I support local businesses. I want them to succeed. However, I feel the customer service is lacking. Maybe I look like an imposing guy at over 6ft, tan skin, and black hair. My identity is racially fluid, I am a multiracial man, and have dual citizenships in the US and Philippines. I've been to most states during the Trump administration. So I know very well how I am perceived, I am received. And most of the time I am perceived as "The Other." Not fun. I bought a Bavarian Sausage that was hot/spicy. The old white American cashier said, "Do you know this is spicy?" I wondered what prompted her to ask that? I can read. That's why I am buying it. Was I perceived as nonwhite and this subtle insult at my ability to read that somehow correlates to my "Otherness" in this country? (i.e. covert racism). Or perhaps in this instance she perceived me as white, knew that white people don't usually have much of a tolerance for spicy food (especially in Seattle) and was looking out for me? In this instance, the Filipino side of me feels a bit insulted because I am perceived as fully white (and apparently incapable of handling spicy foods). Either way - I believe it is best practice to not question a customer's ability to read their purchases even if your intentions are "just looking out for you." Racism in Seattle is like the flavor of vanilla - subtle, but complex. Covert racism is the worst kind. It is the most difficult to call out. Hence, why I thakned her, politely left, and reflected on it later. Try to avoid actions that make a well-travelled guy like me have to go through the above stream of thoughts. I'll still come back b/c it doesn't phase me much. But it is worth mentioning in today's political climate where Asians/Asian-Americans are being encourage to speak up. P.S. The sausage wasn't even really that spicy...

Brian M.

Yelp
I can get better vegetables for better prices than the grocery stores around here. And it's right in my neighborhood. I love this place.

Happy Clam O.

Yelp
I'm updating my review due to the rudeness of the guy who is behind the cash register. I witness an incidence some time ago when he saw an old lady picking her peaches, and he marched over and snatched her shopping basket. I couldn't believe what I saw. I have not returned to this place to shop ever since that. There are plenty other businesses that carry good produces. I'd rather drive further or pay more and shop in a place that appreciates its customers.

Andy K.

Yelp
Went in there and decided to check this place out since I always pass it on the way to my gfs. I grabbed the best looking basket of ranier cherries and bought them. About $8 when I was rung up.. not bad. It was for almost 2lbs of ranier cherries. Let me tell you.. the top were about ok.. the bottom were complete crap. I had about 1/2 of rotting cherries that I paid good money for. That feels bad... I think I'm going to let my friends know to shop else where.

Paul S.

Yelp
What a find! Excellent quality produce and nursery as well as a small market that is very reasonably priced along with helpful and friendly service! This place rocks. As a downtown resident, well worth the drive. The Latino snacks are great like cucumber/pepper popsicles and sardines in picante sauce!

Leanna H.

Yelp
Just bought about $30 worth of produce yesterday. Amongst that purchase was 3 big nectarines. Well today I had a bit of a surprise in my fruit... mold! I'm disappointed that fruit I bought less than 24 hours ago has mold! So far my other fruit seems to be fine but I'm worried it may have spread to my other fruits. This is a first and huge disappointment!

Don J.

Yelp
Been a go to place for almost 11 years. Just like ANY produce place, there are bound to be bad batches, it's life... The main issue I have is with Duane? himself. He is rude to his workers.. One really sweet gal was ringing up my order and he comes unglued because she asked him about a coupon I had..She put up with $100 worth of abuse because of a $1.50 coupon!!! Overall, not bad prices, beats the heck out of chain stores produce....He just needs a good whomping to learn some respect....

Gina T.

Yelp
Holy Potato I love this place. I started shopping here because they always have avacados for less than a buck. Seriously, where do big stores get off charging 2 for $5!? Besides being friendly, they are a small business locally owned and family run. You can't beat their prices so it's worth the extra trip in savings. I have walked out with two full totes for less than $20 more than once. More than deals you'll get a smile or even a few cooking tips. Skip the big store.... it's worth it. They have some dairy products and always a tip on cooking. Just don't go buying up all my avacados!

Darlene M.

Yelp
Plants we got for our garden: - english cucumbers - Carmen peppers - watermelon - zucchini Fruits/veggies we purchased from their fresh produce section: - corn - pears - nectarines Overall, comparable prices to nurseries & grocerys in the area. They have a bigger selection but these were some of the items we wanted today. We also liked how this store was very close to our home. They also sell bark and organic soil!

Kris M.

Yelp
Best fruits and vegetables you can find at good prices. Has local stuff whenever it's in season. His plant and veggie starts are cheaper then the other places and he has manure and other soil amendments. The quality is closer to places like the PCC and his prices are closer to the big chain grocery stores. If you shop carefully you can find apples that taste like real apples and tangerines that taste sweet instead of bland. A huge difference compared to the quality at the supermarkets where the apples are usually mushy and the produce is bland like it's sat on the shelf for a month.

James C.

Yelp
Go at your own risk. I went in on a recent Saturday morning and the owner (I'm pretty sure) was in the main part of the store near customers, stocking fruit into the shelves and not wearing a mask at all. It was wrapped around his neck. I think this is very irresponsible, and bad business. I was very much in need of a product so THANKS to the checker who read my incredulous expression, saw that I was afraid to go near him, and offered to get my items for me.

Patrick B.

Yelp
My wife and I have been loyal customers for nine years. That is why I write a negative review with some trepidation. The usual employees have always been the best and the quality of produce and flowers is always top notch. Sunday evening I stopped by at 5:57 thinking they closed at 7. They close at 6. I felt bad because I hate being the last one because as a retail manager myself I understand wanting to go home at CLOSING time. The unfamiliar women at the counter was already closing the til and seemed bothered that I walked in during business hours. When I asked if I was too late her response was "well, what is that you need" with slumped shoulders. Her body language screamed I want to go home. I will go back, but I believe if your sign says 6 then doors should remain open until 6. I am disappointed with the service of the one woman.

Trent J.

Yelp
Great community resource. Fair prices and friendly staff. Great selection of fruits and veggies. Extensive plants and plant bed treatments from spring to fall.

Tomik N.

Yelp
My wife loves the fruit and vegetables in this store and it's very conveniently located on top of our street and their vegetables all look organic as well as most of there stuff like veggies are actually locally grown so they are really fresh

Cheryl C.

Yelp
I went to Duane's this morning and maybe 2 or 3 times before today. Each time everyone is friendly and helpful. Today especially. Duane helped me find some tomato plants, introduced himself, and helped carry my purchases to my car. His fruits and vegetables are always high quality at a reasonable price and the bonus of being able to purchase flowers and vegetable plants for my garden is a huge bonus.

Jencen R.

Yelp
I was seriously impressed with this produce stand. It has an indoor section with produce displays, a covered outdoor section with fresh and local fruit, and an uncovered outdoor area for live plants like kale. In the indoor section there is also a Mexican grocery section, full of dried peppers and canned beans. Oh! And fresh flowers! They had two dozen of red long stem roses for $15!!! Bountiful baskets gives you a box of random and sometimes useless produce for $15. Here, I was able to fill up a box of things I wanted for two dollars more than Bountiful Baskets. Totally worth it. They have signs out front with their best deals: fresh crop apples for $0.88 per pound and one-pound containers of fresh strawberries for a dollar!! My new favorite place to buy produce for sure.

Margo M.

Yelp
I absolutely do not go anywhere else for my produce !! Always fresh and priced great !! I do a lot of canning and the owner always make sure I have what I need !! I love this place !! We bought peaches, cukes for pickles, pears and tomatoes !! I used to go to storinos in Puyallup before I found this one !!

Ali E.

Yelp
Duane's Garden is never disappoint. The fruits and vegetables are always fresh. The is price is fairly cheap compared to other local owned grocery stores. I go there at least twice a month.

Gary W.

Yelp
This is a combination fruit stand, all kind of fruits and vegetables along with being a garden supply and plant store. It's everything you need and really cheaper than going to the standard places you'd end up going. If you come here you're going to be hooked and you can save some serious money by coming here. At least if you're going between Seattle and the Seatac airport some day, drop by and check this place out.

Delilah R.

Yelp
I've been coming to this produce stand since they set up shop. I am in love. Usually, I fill up 2 or 3 bags of fresh veggies and fruit, never having paid more than $25. My family and I go through TONS of produce because we makes smoothies, juice and I puree lots of things and pour it into lots of things and cook/bake lots of things so that my boys get all the veggies and fruit they are supposed to, without KNOWING it. What I truly love about Duane's is their customer service, pricing and quality aside because they are top notch. Duanes workers are always very sweet, helpful and informative. I wish I was a names kind of girl, you know-the type of person who knows the name of their checker at the grocery store, the name of their barista and the name of their banker. I'm not, so I can't name drop. However, the skinny older white guy-that guy, he is amazing. I'll ask his name the next time I'm in. He's opened many a fruit or veggie for me for taste purposes. I try new recipes every week and he always has a tid bit to help me make my meal even better. Last week, he mentioned that the Mexican squash would be really good in my vegetarian minestrone that I was going to make with zucchini. I took his advice and he was right, it was light and delicious and I was thankful. Then a few months ago, I was looking into getting some pears (they're the new apple in my casa) and he opened up a hybrid pear they had just gotten in and sliced it up for me to try. I bought 10 and they were gone in three days! My boys loved them. For fresh, great produce at ridiculously inexpensive prices, Duanes is the place to go. They have Smith Brother farm milk and dairy products, a great assortment of dried beans/legumes, locally made chips and salsas and an assortment of sausages/brauts to die for. Tis the season for planting and they also have a really diverse group of potted plants and herbs you can buy for great deals, then plant and enjoy for the summer. I'm eye balling some basil, thyme, mint and oregano. I just walked there with my gal pal the other day and loaded the stroller up but alas, I think I'll need to bring the wagon to haul the plants I want to buy. This is worth driving a little out of the way for, especially if you enjoy produce. OH and btw, I will never buy peppers again from anywhere else. This is the best deal, $1.99 per LB not PER PEPPER. THANK GAWD!!!

Ashleigh F.

Yelp
So great to have a neighborhood place like Duane's up the street. Their produce is always incredibly fresh and they carry all the seasonal things you could ask for. Their hanging plants are amazing and a way better quality for the price than anything else you'll find at other local stores. Thanks Duane's!

Stephanie D.

Yelp
I came in with my sister on 12/3/2016 to pick out a tree. There was a guy out in the lot waiting to help. He was super awesome and friendly. He asked what size I was looking for and he picked out a great tree for us. He helped get the tree in my car. We were in and out in five minutes. I really appreciate the guy that helped us out and how great his customer service skills are.

Dan V.

Yelp
Great fresh produce at better than decent prices. One of the best fruit and vegetable stands around!

Keasa J.

Yelp
Duane's is great! We buy fruits, veggies, garden soil and plants here. They're always super nice and will help you load up your car if you buy something heavy. Its rare to get this kind of service anymore.

Liz M.

Yelp
This place is awesome. I have shopped around at several different produce stands and this one is the best. For a while I lived in Mountlake Terrace, and shopped at Country Farms, which is pretty good. Then I lived in Rainier Valley and shopped at Macpherson's. It was ok. Duane's blows both of those places out of the water. Their produce is amazing. They offer a wide variety of fruits and veggies, and I never have the problem of the produce going bad a day or two after I buy it. A lot of their stuff comes from the Kent Valley or from the Yakima area, so it's very fresh. Their prices are unbelievably cheap, especially compared to grocery store produce prices. I usually get enough to feed my family of four for about a week to ten days for under $20. Amazing. And to top it all off, the staff is always nice and helpful, and they'll even carry your stuff to your car for you if you go a little nuts and buy a lot. I actually live within a half of a block from Tony's Market in West Seattle but drive over the hill to go to Duane's because it is so much better. Love these guys!!! If you live anywhere on the south end of Seattle it's worth checking this place out.

Jim H.

Yelp
I have been coming here on and off for probably 6 years now as it is on my way home. The last three times I have been disappointed. I bought almost $7.00 worth of peaches and they have absolutely no taste and although from the outside firmness they should be great for eating they are showing quite a bit of brown flesh. i have had the same experience with other fruit there as well...apples, nectarines and cherries. Every peach I tried had the same problem and I had to throw them away. They should check their products before selling them, obviously they do not. The quality had gone downhill this year, I would do much better at Safeway and their prices are no longer better than the grocery stores.

Rhonda P.

Yelp
I love Duane's! We bought our Christmas tree last winter, and now I'm filling our garden with plants from Duane's--they even have native huckleberry shrubs. The plant selection is abundant and healthy. I've also bought a lot of soil and mulch, which they load for me. Great customer service all around! And you can't beat the produce quality and prices. We moved to Boulevard Park last summer and I'm delighted to have a fresh market so close to home.

Rhiannon E.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. Best prices on fruits and veggies and SO fresh. I walk out of here with bags and bags of food for $20 and it lasts FOREVER. They also sell some sausages, hispanic items and milk for a bargain! Tons of flowers and plants. Everytime I come here I just want to buy everything. On top of all that, the people working here are SO nice and friendly. My ONLY complaint: I moved to Renton and can't get here during the week because they close too early. :)

Valerie K.

Yelp
Will I go back? YES Good customer service? YES Prices are affordable. Fruits and vegetables are fresh and in great condition. The fruit stand and parking lot is nice and clean. Shop there and become a believer! :)

Suzie W.

Yelp
I love this place, I'm so glad they are in my "hood" :) It's hard to find good local produce with fair prices and large selection. Duane has it and also some nursery stock too, a great find this place is! I highly advise you stop by once, you'll return over and over.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Absolutely love Duane's! Great selection, excellent prices, and super friendly staff.

Karyn R.

Yelp
I make sure to shop here at least twice a week. Duane is very friendly and helpfull, as is his staff. If you request something he will get it for you. Lots of things come from local farmers (I see them bringing them in) and organic. Better prices than a big stores. Very pleasent place to shop. Sometimes bruised or misshapen produce in bags for .50 or 1.00 Just love this place. Never go out of business , Please Duane! You are the best....got to make my apple crisp with my $1.00 bag of apples!!! Thank you fro being a fair tradesman.

Jo M.

Yelp
I remember when Duane's first moved into the neighborhood. I wasn't quite sure how a fruit and vegetable stand would work in the area but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Duane's always has the freshest fruits and vegetables around. Not to mention how good all the extra things he has are just great . So glad he came

Marilyn M.

Yelp
They have a wonderful selection of produce. It's our go-to place for vegetables and fruit. It's a Burien gem!

Kayo P.

Yelp
The prices were great but I had very awkward, unwelcome experiences when I shopped there for three times. During the Summer or warm season, the people working there (owners?) gave me weird look and no words to me when I asked questions or made payments. The hispanic guys working there during cold winter time smiled and treated me as a customer. I stop going there.

d'Arcy M.

Yelp
This place has awesome selection and gorgeous displays with very reasonable prices. However, I won't shop here anymore because the owner makes me so uncomfortable. The first time I went he actually rubbed my back when I knelt down to pick up the box of produce that I declined his offer to carry to my car. Sometimes in a pinch we will stop here and my husband will go in, but if the owner is out front smoking he stares at me in the car. It's too bad because otherwise this is a great place.

Natalie G.

Yelp
Love this place! The owner is always there and super friendly. Prices are reasonable and the produce is fresh! I also buy my local raw honey from them which is great! I go there often and have a toddler, they always insist on putting my items in my car for me while I put my daughter in her car seat. All around great place!!

heather j.

Yelp
For those familiar, this is like a mini-McPherson's. It's another produce market, about half the size, but with a good selection of most fruits and veggies you would need, along with a few non-perishable staples. Everyone is super friendly, and everything is cheap! It's never terribly busy, and there is always plenty of parking.

Stephen D.

Yelp
Been going here at least twice a month for the last 18 months. The fruit and veggies are great, last a long time, and the prices are decent as well. The service is always welcoming and willing to help

Ann S.

Yelp
Local. Great prices. No frills. They support local sports teams. I have always been pleased by the quality. Duane's also sells plants. Not a huge selection but good quality and prices.

T and D C.

Yelp
The produce is top of the line and reasonably priced. We recently moved nearby but have been making the trip for years. We love the staff as well. Always very friendly and helpful. I love their selection of plants this time of year too. We really love this place!
