20 Best Things to Do in Dubai, According to Our Local Editors | Condé Nast Traveler

"On the opposite side of the Creek in Deira the Spice Souk fills the air with curry powder, frankincense, and cloves, and to be sure you’re actually buying real cinnamon and high-quality saffron I recommend joining a walking tour with Frying Pan Adventures." - Nicola Chilton

On the Grid : Spice Souk

"The Spice Souk is home to a collection of narrow alleyways filled with a selection of shops selling colourful, fragrant spices. Be prepared to find a variety of spices, herbs, household items, and cheesy souvenirs for swarming tourists. If you look hard enough, you might find some interesting shops selling historical artefacts from the region that you won't find anywhere else in town. Remember, never go ahead with the initial sale price. Haggle your way down until you're satisfied." - Khalid Mezaina

The 24 Best Dubai Restaurants - Eater

"2nd December Street (previously Al Diyafah Street) wasn’t originally designed as a food market, but as soon as the sun sets each day, the street fills with outdoor tables and a night market springs to life. The old block of the Al Satwa neighborhood is home to a community of immigrants who arrived from various nations in the 1990s. Over time, local food shops catering to these residents began to open. Most of the restaurants on the street are Indian, Irani, and Turkish, but the food that spills into the street each evening is a variety of Arabic, East Asian, and Mediterranean cuisines. 10 Best Shops in Dubai

"Dubai's sprawling spice market is arguably the most entertaining of all the city's souks. It's bustling, with intoxicating sights and smells. Many of the vendors sell the same ingredients—Persian dried limes, saffron, barberries, rose hips, and traditional Middle Eastern spice mixes. Saffron, while still pricey, is more affordable here than elsewhere in Dubai. Part of a complex that features three Jumeirah hotels and an adjoining waterway, the souk has stalls selling everything from the spices, to handmade lanterns, clothes, souvenirs, and everything in between. There are also two-dozen restaurants, indoor and out, not to mention some of the most spectacular views of the world-famous Burj Al Arab hotel. It’s free to enter, but parking and abra-style water taxis cost extra." - Laura Ratliff, Maresa Manara

Google
A lively and bustling market selling colourful array of herbs and spices!! We tried some samples and bought some goods! The Fubai chocolate was amazing! As was the hibiscus tea!

Google
An amazing and interesting spice souk, complete with rich aromas, some of which were quite overpowering! Great place to visit and look around, shame the Vendors are so pushy - you cannot look around at leisure! If you are not buying, then 30 minutes of the non-stop pestering is enough - even for the hardened tourist. Go visit and you won't forget!

Google
100% Tourist Scam. Unpleasant place with rude merchants. They demand more than 10 times the price for their products than in any supermarket. Besides the spices you will find only low quality Chinese products at a ridiculously high price. It doesn't even make sense to bargain because of these exorbitant prices. AVOID this place. Buy better quality products in any supermarket.

Google
Great and interesting place to visit away from the opulence of Dubai city. A must visit place for sure. Be ready to get mildy harrassed by all the vendors asking you if you know what this spice is.

Visit this place if you wanna buy national day items in cheapest price. I buy mostly hand bags or paper bags for my valuable customers in good price and a bunch of varieties.

It was a very nice place, I enjoyed it a lot. Whoever gets a chance should definitely go there. I myself will go there every holiday.

Google
Good to visit once, but be careful, the majority of stores are trying to sale low quality or even expired products to tourists with a disproportionate prices... particularly be careful with the saffron quality..
