Enjoyed a tasting at Duchman Winery, very nice. Wine service provided by Richard. He was knowledgeable and shared some of the rich history as he poured some very good wines. The Montepulciano and Aglianico are my go-to wines. Tried the Canto Felice for the first time. Enjoyable with a semi-sweet taste, but not too much. The winery was very nice and a great place to spend the afternoon. It's not surrounded by other wineries. That's a good thing.

I had a wonderful experience at Duchman Family Winery. The setting is absolutely beautiful—nestled in the Texas Hill Country, it offers a peaceful, scenic atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. The wines themselves were impressive. The staff was knowledgeable, welcoming, and happy to guide us through the tasting with interesting insights about each varietal and the winemaking process. The tasting room is elegant yet inviting, and the surrounding grounds make for a lovely place to linger. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just looking for a serene getaway, Duchman is well worth the visit. I’ll definitely be back!

Very nice place. Loved the atmosphere!! There were awesome cars outside that we went to see. Food was good - we’ve gotten the pizza and the humas + pita. We played a number of board games and relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. Wine was really good and a reasonable price. Nice area overall - would definitely recommend when in the area!!

I had so much fun setting up this birthday picnic. I have had several birthdays here and have just always loved this venue. I own a mobile bar/luxury picnic business called pouring on the go and I was so happy when my client decided to use this location as her picnic spot. It’s so beautiful here, the staff is always friendly and the facility is a clean bathroom etc.. the architecture on this place is just a dream and the best part is you can go inside and get a bottle of wine or get some tastings and all their wine is made from 100% grapes from Texas. I hope more of my clients want to use this location because it is just so beautiful and never disappoints, in the staff was really friendly about everything they told us to stay as we wanted no rush can’t recommend more!!

Google
The best experience with Richard and Samantha. Richard was so knowledgeable of the wine and pairings with food. He is witty, engaging and a really great person. He had great stories of how he got started and made us feel like family. Found out we had a lot in common- Great experience. Samantha is amazing, warm, friendly, engaging and just overall lovely. Will HIGHLY recommended the winery to friends and family. My birthday was one for the books celebrated there. Also, their pizzas are to die for and learned ingredients are shipped from Italy. Overall just an incredible experience!!!! Bravo!!!!👏🏼

Google
We came here for our daughter's 22nd birthday. It was perfect! We learned so much about wine. They have a standard tasting list, but after talking to us and learning the difference in our palettes, he switched some things so we would have a better experience. Several people jumped in to help and everyone had a kind personality. There was an art show when we went; pleasant surprise! This place is simply lovely!

Google
August 2024 Duchman Family Winery is a nice and charming winery where can enjoy wine tasting and have a kitchen where can order a pizza. I come here often and always walk out with a bottle of wine to take home. I like their product and can buy a bottle and sit under the big oak trees in front to enjoy it. The staff working here are very friendly and plenty of parking in front.

My family was visiting from NYC. We decided to take them to a wine tasting before the dinner at the Saltlick. We found Duchmen online because of the location. We also recognized that we’ve seen their wine at HEB. When we arrived at the winery, it was crowded with only two bartenders working. They all seem friendly with the customers. Unfortunately, they were also very busy and can’t make eye contact with us. I saw Sam (I am guessing she is the manager.) past by and told her we are about ready to give up. She quickly took care of us by giving us the full introduction of the facility and how the wine tasting works. Her friendliness and the professionalism turned the whole situation around. My family thoroughly enjoyed the experience. And we enjoyed the time we spent with each other. Not mentioning the wine tasting menu is brilliant. It keeps getting better and better. Thank you for the experience. And thank you Sam! We will visit again.

Yelp
A group of us attended booked through ATX Tours to visit wineries. Our final stop ended us at Duchman and it was great. Richard, our sommelier, was wonderful! The wine was great but most importantly, I learning so much and seeing how deep the passion for wine tasting could be. We didn't order food here but we purchased the dark chocolate to pair with our wine and it was great. Very picturesque and many items to purchase if you wanted to. **Be mindful that during your tasting there was no seating. You stand and sip (about 45 minutes long) so be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Yelp
Gorgeous location with tons of parking. Popped by on the way back from deeper Hill Country after seeing the sign and property. The wine was good, but not great, but great deal for a bottle. We brought stuff for our own picnic from nearby local shops instead of ordering the limited food they offered. We sat outside on picnic tables and even in the shade and venturing into the night the bugs were not bad at all! The outside is also pet friendly, but not set up with anything for dogs or kids. The counter tastings are standing up, so those with limited mobility beware. Our tasting staff was very nice and friendly, but when ordering things after that while on the property the staff was short and seemed annoyed with questions and us ordering bottles.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town and happened to end up here on Father's Day. Went with the whole family and we had a lovely time. The wine tasting was great and so was all of the staff. This place was so kind and sweet to us, especially since we were visiting with little kids. Definitely a family, friendly environment. Our intention was to eat next-door however the place was completely booked. This location has a gorgeous dining room, but unfortunately, a small kitchen that only puts out pizzas. I can't comment on the food here because we only did a wine tasting, but I definitely wish they put out more food or had some food trucks on the premises to encourage guests to stick around a little bit longer because it is very beautiful. Would definitely recommend a visit... the wine, staff and the property are all stunning.

Yelp
Food & Drink: The wine was good. It's a stand at the counter tasting service. It was a fun environment for mingling and meeting people. Ambiance: Very pretty and tucked away next to Trattoria Lisina Kid friendly: not really. Unless you have someone to watch them outside. Service: The staff are on top of it and rotate between each other keeping service flowing.

Yelp
Came to Duchman for a wine tasting on a rainy Sunday. They have a beautiful facility and estate. They have won many awards for their wines. We got to try six of their wines from a white to red and everything in between. The wines were reasonably priced and the staff was knowledgeable about their wine and knew what direction to point us to in what wines to get.

Yelp
First winery I went to in Texas and was a nice experience they had so much different selections. Good place to go to.

Yelp
Picnic tables strategically placed under the trees outside the tasting room were the perfect spot for enjoying our glasses of wine this afternoon! Staff were friendly and service was prompt! We didn't try any of their food this visit.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends over the weekend and had a great time! The property is beautiful, wine was good, and the staff was helpful. The snacks were a bit overpriced but everything else was great.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful Winery in the Austin area. I came for a date to the private picnic experience and was blown away by the winery views and was surprised and was proposed to here. Candice was super sweet and accommodating, the day before the location rained and they made sure we still had an intimate and beautiful picnic and were moved to a private room in the winery to enjoy. The location is gorgeous and everyone was extremely kind. As for the picnic the setup was super cute and the charcuterie was delicious (so was the wine) The location also has pizza and other things and I definitely want to come back again.

Yelp
The place was very beautiful and clean. The food and wine were really good as well. The servers were also very nice and knowledgeable of the wines.

Yelp
Great tasting experience for folks new to Texas wine. Samm is great - knowledgeable and made it fun for us

Yelp
This winery is so beautiful, I could live there. The views are breathtaking, and the main house is absolutely impressive, I was so impressed with the property I had to explore it further on my own. They have been operating since 2004 and turned the former residence into a tasting, event and sales space. The sunroom and patio are perfect for enjoying a tasing or a bottle of wine among friends. I actually sampled all of the wines on my visit to the vineyard, of course my preference is red, but I found many of the whites quite refreshing. Although the pool is no longer used for swimming, it makes an excellent backdrop, stop in and set a spell! Cheers!

Yelp
Pet friendly, and lots of trees outside with trees to sit by. Great service when it comes to tasting wines. I recc this place, it is worth the drive!

Yelp
While vacationing in Austin, we were suggested Duchman Winery, formerly known as Mandola Winery. We explored the lovely grounds this past Friday afternoon while waiting for our 2:30 pm tasting reservations. Once we were established at our assigned tasting station with wine glasses and wine descriptions, we began tasting our first of six wines. Pours and quick details were given as we sipped and enjoyed our activity. $17. All five tasting stations in this beautified square tasting room were occupied. Beside us, two other couples, there were two bridal parties that were giggling and sharing their opinions of the red and white wines. It made for a fun vibe in the room. I'm glad that three red wines and three white wines were presented including the Vermentino that I had previously read about. It was the product that gave Duchman Winery bragging rights. Besides liking that wine, there was not much for me to brag about. Our taste buds didn't appreciate the roussanne, viognier, sangiovese or montepulciano. Very acidic and perhaps too young of a wine for what we are used to. We discarded a good amount of the tasting samples and walked to the charming restaurant next door. Enchanting grounds, we just didn't endear their wines.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this experience EXCEPT the educational portion only because there was none. Unfortunately we got bottle service which offered no true tasting experience. Drinking bottles at the table is a more laid back, less-adventurous experience. The venue was gorgeous and more upscale than most in the area. Pizzas and apps were top notch (duch special, capri, and meat lovers pizzas also pecan fried Brie) we were able to relax, play games, drink exceptional wines, and enjoy an authentic Italian casual cuisine all at the same time :)

Marc C.

Yelp
Never come back here. Management messed up our family reunion reservation and would not take responsibility for their mistake. They even absurdly claimed that they texted me even though they obviously didn't. Manager is completely incompetent.

Ann S.

Yelp
Great knowledge from wine tasting, so friendly, and beautiful location! Fried Brie was amazing!
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of the property and how much green space they offer and the nibbles offered are quite tasty (especially the truffle fries). I'm not weeping with joy from any of the wines but they're easy enough to drink. It's particularly lovely for violet crown sunsets, so save it for your last stop if you're making the rounds in this neck of the woods. They don't have any ice, which I find supremely odd being that it's Texas and they serve white wine! If you want to keep your wine chilled while sitting outside (they've got plenty of gorgeous trees to provide shade but shade is not a wine bucket!) the only way to do so is to drink it real fast while thinking cold thoughts.
google avatar

Eric G.

Yelp
Beautiful location next to an Italian restaurant (they aren't affiliated). We got food from them and ate at a picnic table outside the winery. We tried two whites and a red, fairly inexpensive for a glass of wine. I think I paid $6-$8 per glass.. and they were all delicious! The only struggle is to find a place to sit during a weekend.. took a bit of patience before we got a spot. Dog friendly outside, too :)
google avatar

Jim N.

Yelp
Truth up front, we are members of the Duchman Family Wine Club. That said, it's because we love their wines. The whites and reds are great, hat tip to the Progression #3 available now, as well as the rose... both outstanding! The only negative in our view is the member pick-up events are lame. A glass of wine and a short food buffet of food that is usually average at best. In our experience attending member pick up events at Texas wineries, Duchman's events would definitely be close to last. For the price of the wine, the member pick-up events could, and should, be a lot better.

Yelp
This is a great winery with a beautiful tasting room. I love the property it sits on and it's nice that Trattoria Lisina is right next door. I love the "movie night on the lawn" events they have during the summer/fall. Delicious wine and food, great atmosphere and very family friendly as well! One of my favorite places to go! The wine is high quality and priced reasonably.
google avatar

Jennipher C.

Yelp
My sister took me wine tasting for the day and this was our second stop. The tasting room has numbered sections to stand and drink your tastings. I really like this concept because it prevents overcrowding at the bar area. As customary, they start you off with a white and make their way down to reds. Every wine I tried was good, some more than others but I ended up buying a bottle of the Roussanne and Montepulciano. There is a time limit to your tasting, which helps keep the crowds moving along. There's a separate dinning room area where they welcome you to eat or have another bottle or glass of wine. Overall it was such a great experience while touring wine country in Texas.
google avatar

Rafael W.

Yelp
Great place to go and enjoy the weather have some wine and eat some food. I do not have a membership here, it's a must try in the area.
google avatar

Crystal R.

Yelp
Well I have many thoughts but mainly that one of the reps in the tasting room was a bit rude. She rushed us out since we had a glass of wine from the restaurant, Trattoria Lisina both places let you walk around with wine but I guess not into the winery? I am not sure but we had been in the hall looking at the wine making area and the dining hall for 40 minutes before we went into the tasting area, we had about 3 sips left each. So based on the timing it seemed overkill. I must add that it was close to the end of the night so there was about 30 minutes left to even be there. In any case we didn't fight and we went to finish the wine outside before we met with a different person to do the tasting. I'd say it could have been a better experience but I'm willing to try again maybe in the future with new reps in the tasting area. Not somewhere I am jumping to go back to though, wine was decent but the ambiance was killed by the above issue.

Yelp
While visiting the Austin area, I found this beautiful winery not too far of a drive. The exterior and interior of this place is absolutely wonderful and I loved being able to walk through the large hallway and observe the wine making/packaging process. Their selections of wines that I tried all tasted to perfection, but this is the first time I will and have ever said that for me the star of the show was the handmade pizza I enjoyed with my food. First of all, the prices of the food are relatively inexpensive, but the amount of food you get and the taste is amazing! This will be a place I will visit again!
google avatar

Yelp
We had the perfect afternoon at Duchman. We arrived at 4pm without a reservation, but they were able to squeeze us in for a tasting by 4:20 on a pretty busy afternoon. The wines were all dry, and I genuinely enjoyed each. It wasn't too crowded, and the staff took their time with each group to describe flavors and answer questions. We ordered a bottle of their Roussanne and a pepperoni pizza to share outside at one of their many picnic tables in the shade. The afternoon was very relaxing and we loved looking around the grounds. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Great day at a great place. Dog, kid and people who love wine friendly. If you looking for a great place to spend Saturday or Sunday afternoon having a relaxing day this is the place. Pizza is great, one of my favorite places.

Yelp
Gorgeous property, fabulous restaurant. Huge outdoor property to sit and enjoy the view. Dogs welcome! Big plus.

Yelp
Duchman is one of my favorites around the area. The winery is simple and small but has an European charm. I've done the tasting before and also just purchased wine by glass. Both are delightful. Tasting is nice for first timers to explore a variety of wines Duchman produces. Because of the tasting, I was able to find my favorite red and white wine of theirs. And for $10/tasting, it is such a steal!! (Price may have changed. This was based off of 2018). After my first visit, I just opt to get a bottle or glass of my favorite red and sip it on the patio taking in good wine, views, and company. My friends and I always love to end our Hill Country winery trek at Duchman and drive over to Salt Lick after for good ol Texas BBQ.

Baylee J.

Yelp
I highly recommend the Duchman Family Winery! We came for a private tour and tasting and had the best time. It was beautiful, the wine was incredible, and the staff went out of their way to help us have a great time. It was the first time for anyone in our group to do a wine tasting, and so they spent a lot of time with us explaining everything, and being patient with us. The tour was great as well, and we learned a ton. We also loved that it was Texas grown wine. Our group ended up purchasing bottles of 3 of the 6 wines that we tasted (and none of would say that we're "wine people" by any means. I hope to come back again, and HIGHLY recommend the private tour & tasting!!
google avatar

Vanessa T.

Yelp
This is a must-stop on your wine tour and where we began ours! The architecture alone is a photographer's paradise and the wine is wonderful. We were a little disappointed to hear that, as of our visit in May, they weren't doing tastings due to Covid because I do think it can be done safely and would've made for a better experience. Otherwise, you either have to buy a full bottle or multiple bottles if you'd like a well-rounded understanding of their wines. We opted for a blend that we absolutely loved, described on the bottle as a "patchwork quilt of grapes." It was honestly worth every penny--so delicious! We took our bottle and glasses outside onto the expansive lawn which is just perfect for picnics. They have lots of shaded tables under the old growth trees. Perhaps for safer tastings they could serve them "beer flight" style with the informational flyer and direct you to sit outdoors so that you can still experience a handful of their wines without breaking the bank? That would make it a 5-star experience for me!

Jack R.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant, great food with tons of options, and really great service. Recommend highly for a lovely evening.

Libby F.

Yelp
I went to Dutchman with my mother for a tasting. Absolutely stunning scenery inside and out. The wines were fabulous and the customer service was informative and engaging. Go here if you are in the Driftwood area!

Heidi B.

Yelp
The outdoor area is beautiful and relaxing. Duchman uses all Yexas grown grapes, which is very nice. We arrived at 2pm on a Wednesday and were disappointed that we couldn't do an outdoor wine tasting as we had brought along our daughters Boston terrier. However, We were able to bring out full glasses of wine. We enjoyed the Aglianico (highly recommend similar to a Cab) and the Grape Growers blend ( similar to a Chianti). At least during the week neither the Duchman kitchen and Italian restaurant did not open until 4:00pm.
google avatar

Afshin D.

Yelp
I live in California and only an hour away from Napa. I wasn't expecting anything close to what one would experience in Napa. However, I still wasn't fully pleased. The only way I can imagine that someone would really enjoy it, is to bring your own picnic and use their outdoor seating area. This is of course conditioned on the weather and also whether or not there is gonna be any bachelorette party there during your visit. (We saw two when we visited and they were so loud and they had overtaken all the outdoor seatings) We tried their tasting. It was only $15 which is relatively cheap. In Napa you pay 2-3x more than that in a good winery. They let you choose your own 5 wines out of their selection or go with their recommendation. The tasting overall was okay, nothing that I disliked and at the same time nothing wowed me. I'm not sure if I'm gonna go back there, but it was worth to try it once.

Yelp
The Dutchman Family Winery is located right next to Trattoria Lisina (excellent Italian cuisine) and every time I enjoy a meal there go next door. The winery is very nice and outside has picnic tables under huge oak trees with games to play. The inside has a lobby with a special room for taste testing. Every time I come here there is always a crowd sampling wines and noticed they now sell a few varieties of olive oil. I have tried the wine before and not bad and see award metals on their wines, so they seem to be doing something right. I did not purchase a bottle today since my cellar is fully stocked but I do live far from this winery, so will come back to restock. As for the tour while inside you can see through glass the fermenting and aging rooms, and the bottling room. Outside you can see all the vineyards where they get their grapes. It is a little early but in a few weeks bluebonnets will be all over the grounds which will make it an excellent photo op.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
The winery is beautiful and the wine is ok but we didn't find the staff to be very friendly. We ordered two snacks and both left a lot to be desired. The watermelon was soggy and smooshed up. We tossed whether to bring it back or not, and finally I did. The girl brought me another one which was fresh. Why serve me the nasty one first?? Unfortunately our experience wasn't good.

Yelp
Nice stop just outside Austin for a wine tasting! The outside setting is very cool, spacious front lawn and some tables/chairs for hanging out. Dropped into this place for a quick wine tasting, consisting of 6 small pours of wine. The whites we tasted were all very smooth, not overly sweet but just the right amount of smooth & dry. Definitely recommend sampling all the whites if you have time, you won't be disappointed! We didn't go check out Trattoria next door for food, but have been there in the past and pretty good Italian food, pairs well with the winery. If you come here and the weather is looking good, you can expect a very scenic, picturesque spot to spend some time at!

Liza S.

Yelp
This winery was lovely. It was beautiful and cool, and you have the ability to look Into their wine making process through their historical halls that give you a glimpse of the aging and bottle rooms! The wine was great! I would dare to say it was my favorite In the Driftwood area. The service was great, very attentive, and they do have food/snack options which are decent-good(good after a few glasses )! Plentiful outdoor seating for enjoying a glass and food in the shade is delightful! Taking off one star because tastings all take place at the counter, standing, which is not my favorite.
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Lovely area and great tasting menu. They have lovely picnic tables outside to bring your own snacks or enjoy their pizza or charcuterie boards alongside bought bottles. I just wish they had some music playing it was very quiet like pin drop quiet. I feel as though that might add a more comforting ambience. However we enjoy it very much and the restaurant near by looked spectacular
google avatar

Anielka E.

Yelp
This was actually one of my favorite stops in our Driftwood wine tasting day. This particular winery has outdoor picnics for groups and benches for smaller groups for one to buy a bottle , bring some of your own food and enjoy their wines. During this pandemic time, this is the perfect scenario to drink wine while still practicing social distancing. They do allow you to use the restroom with mask wearing enforced for you to go inside the building. Their wine was light and refreshing. We chose a white wine. If you go near the end of the day you enjoy a nice sunset followed by lighted trees giving you a Christmas vibe. Up until that day , I never knew that Texas had a winery side like Driftwood but places like Duchman Family Winery proved to me that they do exist and they have really good wine too. Highly recommend you make a stop at this winery.

Yelp
Really beautiful property. We wanted to go to Salt Lick and wanted to find some other activities in the area so came here for a tasting before lunch. They do $15 for 6, which is pretty good, and was offering 5% off your total bill for following them on Instagram. There's some beautiful benches set up outside to go with your glass of wine. It unfortunately seemed to be drought season when we visited so the actual grape plants were pretty bare. Once you step inside, there's a small room where the tastings happen and the shop where they sell bottles and all kinds of souvenirs. There unfortunately wasn't any seating indoors so we had to stand the entire time. If you walk in more, you can see barrels and label making rooms. Wish they had given us more history during our tasting but it was fun nonetheless. It was pretty easy to get an uber out here from the city but be warned getting an uber out here may take a little while.
google avatar

Peyton M.

Yelp
My friends and I had the pleasure of doing a wine tasting with Andrea. The wines tended to be lighter which was perfect for a hot Texan day in July! Later, we had a ton of fun chatting with Javier and some other staff while enjoying a bottle of their finest. Very fun time here and the entire property is beautiful! The wine tasting was $17 per person.

Yelp
Beautiful property and winery In Driftwood. Make sure you pronounce this without an H. It's Dook-mun, not Dutch-man. Nice outdoor yard type area with seating to enjoy a glass of wine. Try a tasting- everybody's palate is different so find your favorite.

Yelp
Before our visit we were so excited to visit this place. It was a nice place out but if we felt ignored. They really have poor customer service. I had a review but it was taken down by yelp for whatever reason, I was so surprise when from rude employee message me on my yelp apologizing personally, and apparently there was a guy anonymously message me regarding my review to be reposted. Eventually found they are working together and engaging me on whatever conflict they have. Thus, proven that they really have poor customer service , very unprofessional.I wont be surprise if they will ask yelp to take my review down again.

Yelp
Duchman is a great winery to visit near Austin that makes great wines. I've recently been on a kick to learn more about and try Texas wines. I've tried wine from several different Texas wineries in the past couple months (all purchased from wine stores) and Duchman is so far my favorite. I prefer red wines and my favorite Duchman wines are the Aglianico and Sangiovese. Since the winery is so close to Austin, my husband and I decided to visit. The grounds are beautiful - the perfect place for a picnic. I appreciate the precautions they've taken due to COVID-19 too. You can't go into the building (though they will let you in if you need to use the restroom), so they are set up outside selling wine by the bottle and require everyone to wear a mask. There is plenty of space to picnic and social distance. They sell some picnic meals on-site, but we brought pizza from Pieous, bought a bottle of wine, and had a lovely time relaxing at a picnic table in the shade. I highly recommend visiting Duchman. I'm happy there is a winery that makes great wines so close to Austin. Even if you can't do a tasting during COVID-19, it is still worth the drive to drink wine in a pretty setting!

Yelp
What a LOVELY VENUE! Absolutely adored our wine! The staff was knowledgeable. They aren't doing tastings due to Covid but u can buy a bottle and drink on premises. We probably would have bought more if we could taste, we usually do.

Yelp
Decided to discover wineries on a Tuesday without realizing that most of the wineries in the area are closed. Landed at Duchman's on accident but feel like we found the best one! Kate was friendly and very knowledgeable. She made our experience amazing and we look forward to returning. Took home a bottle of Progression 2!

Yelp
Great place to enjoy a good time having Duchman wine only problem is today was slammed with members of Duchman wine club which I am a member of hardly go through the lines are crazy so happened to be in line for a long time wine which i. Fact had ticketsd to this event. Overall rated wines are pretty much a four star rating a quality type of wine I re commend the merlot and ziinfidell my favorites. Try the shiraz a must try st least once you will get hooked you will keep coming back for more. Parking is easy only if weddings are taking place. So enjoy the fun and sometimes a band or solo music . I am a fan so come on figure out a great way for real fun.
