Duck Dive Tavern

Popped into this place on a whim. The best review I can give is that it was "just alright." The food was okay but nothing special. The fries were great and better than some of our main dishes. The service was fine. Our server was friendly but was also the only server and bartender for everyone, so service was a little slower than expected. They also do not offer Free Wifi. Given how slow they are, this would go a long way for waiting customers. The atmosphere is cute and fun, fitting with the beach/surf theme. While not the fault of the restaurant, there was a loud group there during our visit which made our own conversations difficult. Again, being able to get on Wifi would have gone a long way considering we did not have great cell service in the building.

A fun and hidden local spot. The food was awesome. Had a House special smashed burger that was Asian inspired. It was delicious. The fries were really good! My friend had the fish and chips and raved about it. The portions sizes were perfect. Not too huge that I had to take food back to the hotel but we were absolutely satisfied. A lot of locals hanging out. My friend and I found this place because it was one of the few late night places open.

First time going there and we will definitely be back. Our waitress was super nice and helpful. We got the Buffalo dive wings and they were nice and meaty like she said they would be. I wish I hadn’t eaten them though because I was filling up before I got the best Brussels I’ve ever had in my life delivered to the table. The salmon was cooked perfectly and whatever sauce they put on it was really good and I mixed it in with my rice. I couldn’t even eat half of the Brussels and salmon but they heated up well the next day for lunch. Can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic find!!! First time experience here, and I have to say, the food and service here were second to none! The menu offerings are truly solid and deliciously great. I had the brisket sliders, but as tacos along with the fried brussel sprouts and let me say, do yourself a favor and try these items. Our server, Dalton, was incredibly courteous and friendly, as well as profoundly knowledgeable about the menu. The reviews on this place are accurate. It is a very worthy place to dine with tood prices as well. Very fair cost for what you get. Great job, Duck Dive. We'll be back!!

Nice spot. Nice bar area with tvs behind the bar and seating around the restaurant too. REALLY good food. Service was fast. Employees were all friendly. We got the smash burger, fish tacos and onion rings. Would definitely come back. You won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely awesome local place!! Manny was great and the food was exceptional. We had the steak and salmon bowls and it was hard to put the fork down! And the new cherry lime aid! Delicious

Overall a great experience. They seemed short staffed since the bartender was also waiting tables and super busy. However, the service was still good, the food was unique, and the atmosphere is good if you like sports. The fries were EXCELLENT, and we've never had cheez-wiz on steak sandwich before, it was better than expected!

Best Tavern in Virginia Beach! Wish we would have found it before our last night on vacation. The staff was awesome and made us feel like regulars! Will definitely go back next time I'm there!! *didn't order food, so I can't give a review.

I had lunch at Duck Dive Tavern at the Oceanfront, and it was everything I hoped for. I started with the Feather and Thin cocktail, which was like an adult Shirley Temple. Then, I tried the Frickles--crispy, battered pickles served hot with their homemade sauce. For my main dish, I had the fish sandwich with a side of perfectly seasoned Brussels sprouts. I added bacon, cheese, and red onions to the sandwich, and it was absolutely worth it! The fish was fried to perfection, and the house-made tartar sauce brought it all together. Great! We ordered take out, and it was great! I had the VB Cobb salad, everything was fresh and tasty! Fun atmosphere, pool table in adjoining room. Bar for pick up was clean & server was friendly. Definitely will go back.

Came here when in town for a weekend conference. They were slammed, mainly with people in town for our group. The staff was efficient and handled the crowd great. Highly recommend.

I got the smash burger and onion rings. Absolutely amazing. I tell everyone about it. Great atmosphere and service. The nightlife is nice also. Drinks are good and a blended crowd with great music. My go to when I want to step out and now be around too many ppl. Highly recommend.

Yelp recommended this cute little spot for me. I'm in town on business and wanted a good burger. The staff were friendly and the place was clean. Very nice bathrooms as well. We ordered obay wing and just plain wings. The had nice flavor. The obay wings were a little too salty to me but they are still good. I got a double smash burger with bacon and fries. My sandwich was so flavorful and juicy. My fries were hot just like I like them and think cut. Thank God I don't live here because I wouldn't be able To fit through the door from eating here to much

The good reviews brought us here to give them a try. Easy parking just off Laskin Rd, This is a spacious bar/restaurant, with many booths and high top tables and chairs. The bar spans almost the entire length of the business. There is plenty of room to mingle. The atmosphere is geared to those who like hard rock, that's what was playing, but not obnoxiously loud. They also have bands coming in, I don't know their schedules. To the food. The menu is not extensive. One side food and one side drinks. Specials were posted out front and on a board in the back. A review recommended dish was the Smash burger. My husband ordered a double, and it was really stacked with all the trimmings on a fresh bun. This came with French fries that were delicious, hot, and fresh as they should be. He was in his glory with the burger. Expect it to be well done. I was not as fortunate, I ordered the Fish and Chips, which was Cod, one of my favorites! What arrived was again the delightful French fries, and the Cod was 3 oval breaded pieces about 3" long and 1" wide, maybe 1/2" thick. The Cod was barely there. It was mostly breading. I could not get the flavor of the fish!. It screamed of prepackaged and frozen. I was disappointed. They did have cocktail sauce, malt vinegar, and ketchup as condiments. The service was great. I'm not sure if we will be back.

This place is a joke and had the worst service I have ever had. Went in there with four other people and they acted like they were doing us a favor. They also charged us close to $700 for two hours there. They charged two of us twice and you can't even call them because they have no phone number. Something shady is going on at Duck Dive Tavern. Stay away.

Great little place, good food, this is where the locals hang out . Great service and very friendly staff. Can't wait to go to Virginia Beach again!

The food here is spectacular. You're not going to leave here hungry. I have the double Smash burger, and the old bay wings. The wings were delicious, and the Smashburger was one of the best burgers I've had lifetime. The portion they give you of french fries is ridiculous, but perfect again you're not going to leave here hungry. The service was incredibly fast and they were attentive during the entire visit. Great place to watch the game, friendly atmosphere. It looked like a lot of cold beer even though I did not enjoy any of that I did see they have a very large selection. They are doing things right here. I must visit when you were in Virginia Beach.

came here for the first time last week with some friends, and i never would have known it existed without them. we went pretty early in the night but they had someone performing live and it seemed like it could get really fun as the night goes on. my friend had the chicken taco special and i had a smash burger. my friend is STILL talking about how amazing these tacos are and the burger was great as well. super cool place and will probably be back soon!

I have never been so mistreated at a restaurant This may be the reason for the lack of customers last night Last call was announced at 1:30am. Completely normal.... Then it was announced, 5mins later, over a megaphone everyone had to "get the f*ck out" "Security" then proceeded to physically push me, and the 10 other customers, out the door before I was able to call a safe ride home. During this interaction, the owner of the bar was sitting and laughing at patrons as they were being shoved out the door. I will never return and I am completely embarrassed that a business like this exists in Virginia Beach.

Food mediocre - this is BAR FOOD not really a restaurant. It's still a great place to watch sports, however with all the attendant cheering and noise.

bouncer put his hands on me, i did nothing wrong, i was trying to get my drunk friend a ride home and the bouncer grabed my arm and forced me back inside, then when i was sitting inside trying to get my friend a ride i was told i had to leave, after paying for a drink and not doing anything wrong, he made me leave my drink and forced me out, bouncer has an ego problem, i am a local and i will never be coming back after being treated so poorly. the man told me his name was trey, he told me the reason he told me to leave is because when he came up to me after kicking my friend out i dismissed him, it is ridiculous to kick someone out because they didn't want to accept your apology. im not sure if trey is his real name but if it is do not go when this bouncer is working.

Management was not responsive to our concerns about the quality of the food. This is the second time we tried eating here and both experiences were disappointing.

When everywhere else around let me down Duck Dive Tavern was there for me. It's 10pm. After a long day at work I wanted a beer and something to eat. We hit the mean streets of Virginia Beach wandering around looking for refuge but there was none. The windows were dark and the parking lots empty. As we wandered losing hope we looked up and BEHOLD. The duck dive tavern was lit with glorious light! We shuffled in as two refugees and were rewarded with booze and burgers! The specials were like gifts from god and the TVs displayed the clash of Titans. And as long as these titans of men fought on the tv the 7 dollar appetizers were honored. Long we stayed and when satisfied we left as if in a fog. Will return.

Great service, prices and atmosphere. You can't beat their happy hour. I highly recommend.

Treat yourself to a unique place with great food and excellent environment. We had the carne asada tacos, fish sandwich, and the smash burger. All were top notch and half the price of most VA Beach restaurants. Plus, you need to meet Miranda -- she is an outgoing ambassador of good will, cheer, and information about VA Beach. You deserve a good time, go to Duck Dive Tavern.

Terrible experience. Emily behind the bar is unprofessional, passive aggressive to women and would be better suited to not be dealing with the public unless you're a man that is. Would not recommend this establishment unless you enjoy waiting 30 minutes for a drink and being completely ignored.

Literally said it was open on maps and it was closed. It lat me make an hour and then after i paid it said it was closed.

Bomb ass burgers. First time there was a blast! Im a chef and i give them 5 stars for their customer service.. drinks good and food good aaaamd music good!!! Very friendly crowd!!! No lie... I posted my review of them on Google! A while back. I plan to go back next weekend ima order more food!

I went here probably 6 times in 2 weeks in Dec of 2022. Amazing food. Brussel Sprouts are some of the best I have ever had. Tacos are huge and delicious and the Smash Burger is one of the best burgers in VA Beach. I recommend Duck Dive to everyone.

Girls night at Duck Dive Tavern was fun, staff was amazing, food was really good! Brussel sprouts, Prickles, wings, fish tacos, & salads!

Friendliest service in town. Good food, reasonably priced. Cajun steamed shrimp was delicious and enough for two. Great local entertainment starting at 7 most evenings. They are going on their one year anniversary. Check them out!
