Duck Donuts

My wife wouldn’t stop talking about these donuts since we arrived. I finally stopped in and picked up a dozen. They have so many different options available which is a bit overwhelming at first but you’re unlikely to not find something you’d enjoy. We arrived right as they opened and everything was quick, fresh and efficient. Staff were friendly and helpful as well. Definitely would recommend the experience!

The best donuts of course, but I was throughly surprised by how yummy the PSL was! It is not too cinnamon-y as most are made and it's still packed with a great coffee flavor! I want to add the staff is so friendly and accommodating. They saw my Hands full, came all the way from the back & opened the door for me.

We had a breakfast sandwich and donuts, which we enjoyed at the beach. The donuts were freshly baked, not overly sweet, and paired well with coffee. A must-try for donut lovers!

I get the hype, these were hot and delicious. Drinks were ok but donuts 10/10!

Went for donuts and ice cream, apparently they are all out of ice cream everywhere. The donuts are basic donuts with tons of different topping combinations. Fun, but in the end just an extra sugary flavored donut. I'd say it's like a fresh cinnamon roll, with the melted icing and all that. Good, but not something I think I want more than once or that I felt was terribly worth it after eating. I will say I got the iced mocha with half the chocolate is really very good, I'd recommend that. The biggest annoyance is waiting in line while big parties all pick out their donuts.

This place is absolutely slappin and bussin all around. Barista is real good at whippin out the espressos. Some great coffee and delectably delicious donuts. Place was perfect in the mornin, but gets extremely busy. Like absurdly busy, probably because of the hotel across the street.

Stopped in and grabbed a couple of donuts. Tasty! The staff was really nice.

One of the less busy Duck donuts locations. Donuts were hot and delicious. I do wish there was a public bathroom though.

First off, I know that heading out on a Sat morning is suicide if you know about local traffic. I had to break the news to hubby that "we" were going to pickup donuts for our guests. First thing I did was preorder my boxes.. yes boxes since we had a houseful of young adults. The parking lot was crazy with big trucks, delivery trucks and early risers trying to get in and out of the lot. Pickup was a breeze, donuts ready in their designated pickup spot. Now the challenge of escaping the lot. That was easy peasy because this was a 2 person effort! Donuts were so cute. Each hand crafted with super cute colors. They tasted so fresh and "sweet". Truly a team effort accomplished.

Saturday morning is not the time to hit the streets. This is transition day and everyone is out. We did preorder. We went out early around 8:30am Our order was ready. Thankfully, we ran in and ran out. Everyone was trying to park in their small parking lot. This location has a nice pickup shelf. Highly recommend preordering. The donuts weee made with care. Each sprinkle and icing neatly placed.

Simple design you order at kiosk pick from their list of combinations or build your own. All are fresh warm cake donuts that turn into an explosion of flavors as you add toppings. Made right in front of you by friendly and quick staff. Decor is nice and simple too. Coffee was average. Don't miss this donut shop. They have forks because the donuts are so warm and fresh they melt in your mouth or hands

What can I say....absolutely delicious! Freshly made to order. We are from Boston and had never heard of this place. Coffee is good too!

Ordered donuts online for the next morning. Went with their summer sampler box of 12 donuts. When my husband went and picked them up they were all ready to go. Very easy process and the donuts were delicious!

It took a long time for our donuts and they only gave us one box when we got two boxes and they made them again and still did not give us the right amount.

First time trying Duck Donuts and it was one for the books! My hubby and I traveled to OBX Thanksgiving weekend for an engagement party and we stayed at the Hilton across the street. It took less than 2 minutes to walk for a quick to-go breakfast. Duck Donuts is infamous for their creative, flavorful donuts and they are only opened on weekends. I read up on some reviews before going and made sure to pre-order my donuts online in case there was a long line. As a first-timer, I chose the assortment half dozen and added a special comment to not include powdered donuts since i'm just not a fan. Since it was considered off-season, there were only a few customers in the shop so I really could've just ordered on the spot, but my box and iced coffee was conveniently waiting for me upon arrival. As you can see from the pictures, they are some good looking treats! I absolutely loved the maple bacon donut and was pleasantly surprised by the raspberry drizzled one in the middle... It had PEANUT BUTTER GLAZE... Just something I don't often run into in my local donut shops. In truth, they all were pretty fantastic. Of course I couldn't finish it all in one sitting so between the two of us, we pretty much snacked on it all weekend. It still even tastes perfect heated up in the microwave a few days later. Totally worth stopping in, especially if you are staying at the Hilton on the weekends! I don't know when I'll be back in the area, but this is definitely worth a revisit.

Super slow....They are short staffed for the morning hours but the donuts are loaded with the good flavors ...an awesome treat!

Pretty tiny so packed but AMAZING as usual. I always get the Bacon in the Sun and ate it before I got to take a pic! Gotta eat while it's hot !

Duck Donuts is delicious but I don't need you to know that because I know the ultimate donut to order and if you ate it you'd be at Duck Donuts all of the time like me.... Causing a line and delay! Oh haha the secret recipe to get you lost in the sauce you ask... I'll never tell! Lemon, coconut, raspberry FEAST WITH YOUR EYES BELOW! FRESHLY COOKED AND CRAFTED!

For what they serve... they do it the best! Fresh, made to order donuts in just about any combo you can think of! S'mores, strawberry & cream, maple & bacon... the list goes on. All of the donuts start as a plain batter, old fashioned naked donut (I do like them bare as well), then let your imagination go wild! Donut tempt be beyond what I can bear... and these donuts are sinfully good! I chose the midnight madness, chocolate icing with chocolate sprinkles... decadent! The service is fast, the beverages are plentiful, Earl Grey for me, and price point is just ducky! Don't forget to check out the merch for this iconic donut shop in OBX!

Holy cow those bacon maple donuts are amazing!!! The donuts are really delicious! They truly are great donuts! The coffee is tasty too! Came here with the family when we were walking by one morning. There was a line to get in outside. Due to Covid only 10 people were allowed in at a time. The line to get in; was stretched outside. We were waiting to get in and some lady just drives up in her car and walks right in and cuts the whole line. I called the lady out and she just brushed me off saying well I wasn't inside. I asked if she had a mobile pick up order. She said no. I let her know that she cut the whole line but she didn't care. No one said anything else to her. Everyone could hear me call her out inside because only 10 people were allowed in at a time anyway! The story does end well though!! When I was leaving a worker at Duck donuts asked if I wanted 12 donuts for free because someone never came to pick them up. I wonder if it's because they heard the line cutting altercation I had with the Karen! Kudos to duck donuts for making it right by comping the free 12 donuts!! Even though they didn't say anything at the time; they made it right!

Got a dozen of the specialty donuts, which were delicious. My only concern is the price, basically $2 per donut. I guess inflation is catching up with us all. The staff was super friendly and patient, as we browsed the menu. Luckily there was no line. And we got there right before closing (2PM).

Listen, are these donuts waiting for literal hours for? No donuts are. Did I wait close to an hour for them anyway? Yes. They are delicious.

Great place to get coffee and donuts. Staff is very friendly. I got the iced southern pecan coffee with caramel drizzle and the girl added whipped cream and caramel drizzle for me. Yum, THANKS! This was the only location I've been to and it doesn't have any seating inside or outside really: would have given 5 stars if there was a little area I could enjoy my special treat.

Great breakfast sandwiches that you can get on an English muffin or donut, yup a donut. Best damn donut I ever had! You can chose from a number of toppings, drizzles and coatings for your donut! It's made fresh and served warm!

I feel like I got the donut maker in training doing my order. Was very slow (my order was in the 30s and called out while orders in the 50s were being called out) and the donuts did not like the pictures, forgot the raspberry drizzle on my sunrise donut, and not sure what is going on with the blueberry donut. Disappointing to come here as a tourist and have such a disappointing first experience after hearing great things.

This is place is crowded with friendly staff, customers, and of course a delicious variety of donuts to choose from. Waiting in line will not be a problem. My husband and I went there on a Monday morning and the line outside the door was the good sign we needed. Indoors is relatively small but service is efficient. We ordered a mixed dozen ($23/dozen, any dozen) of cinnamon, maple bacon, and cookies and cream. All warm, made to order, and delicious, but our favorites were the first two aforementioned. If you're a donut sucker like me, you can't pass on this place. Do not let the long lines intimidate you. It's worth of your time and there's seating outdoors.

A must stop location in OBX! Come early cause they open and close early each day. Enjoy the experience cause this process and product is unique. I usually go into detail but experiencing it for the first time is part of the fun!

It's ridiculous how this place has the best donuts and yet they're ruining their clientele by hiring incompetent, inefficient, and unintelligent individuals. I waited for half an hour with 4 people ahead of me, and the workers looked like it was their first time at the counter. Had to refund bc it took so long :(

The first time I came here I tried their blueberry streusel donut, and it might just be the tastiest donut I've ever eaten! The location is also super convenient if you're staying at the Hilton across the street. About a two minute walk. Good service too: in and out (not sure if going during the off season effected this).

The concept is nice and my kids enjoyed being able to build their own donut. I also liked how you can watch the donuts being made. But... if you don't eat the donuts right away, they end up looking like hot messes (literally). It's one of those things you have to enjoy right away and can't save for later because all the frosting/glaze, just melts in and around the donut itself. And then if you have toppings like sprinkles, they melt right into the glaze and stick onto the box. Maybe they need to take some advice from Krispy Kreme's. Their donuts come out piping hot with glaze but the glaze is always nicely intact and not "melted" on. Also, I'm not a huge fan of cake donuts but there's was nice and light and not heavy and cake-y like I had envisioned.

Absolutely delicious. I was in heaven when I first tried duck donuts and now they will haunt me for the rest of my life. I cannot wait to return and have these donuts again as they are insanely good and come in a variety of clever and fun flavors. Definitely worth trying out , even if you're watching your carbs.

No matter how fast this franchise has exponentially grown recently on the east coast, one must visit and grab a donut or two at Duck Donuts in OBX / Duck, NC while you are in the area. They started here, right???! The front staff members are friendly and delivery of your orders are timely. No complaints there. Just wish they sprinkled more nuts, bits, frosting on these delish sweets when I visited! Wouldn't hurt if they offered jelly-filled donuts, too! Yes, I do love a Duck Donut!

Hot, fresh and delicious. What more can I say. The two teenagers behind the counter were working very diligently. Great work ethic. The man at the fryer was non stop. The cashier very friendly. I asked for half of my order to be made in a peanut free area. This location actually fixed them in a separate room!! I've been to many Duck donuts and this was a first. Thank you for going the extra mile.

So many different delicious combinations, it's tough to decide! I ordered online snd picked up my donuts just a few minutes later, although they were very busy. My favorite was the coffee icing, which is a seasonal/temporary offering - I hope it's added to the regular menu. My second favorite was the "chocolate covered strawberry" (strawberry icing with chocolate drizzle), which had a great strawberry flavor. YUM!

Kreme has lost its Krispy, and Dunkin is on the Run. Its Duck Huntin season! Start hunting for these donuts because there are the best donuts Ive ever had. Good service, friendly atmosphere.

Amazing donuts aside, the location is NOT SAFE during the COVID-19 pandemic. I've been to this location many times and their donuts are delicious, as always. However, I went in today expecting all the service personnel to be wearing masks (and to be wearing them correctly, covering their mouths AND noses) and that was not the case. The cashier, who, by the looks of it, was also the manager on duty (who was also handling the donuts) was not wearing a proper mask (it covered, during the best of times, a part of her mouth only, and she kept touching it to pull it up with the same bare hands she used to put fresh donuts into the takeout boxes) AND COUGHING all over the place. Some of the other workers' masks (if they were wearing any) were also only covering their mouths (FYI, COVID can be inhaled or spread through exhaling and sneezing). By the time we got our order (which took awhile), I honestly was debating with myself if I wasn't better off just throwing it into the trash, donut deliciousness aside. Please, wear proper masks! And stay at home if you're coughing for any reason!

I recall someone once saying that a doughnut is both the best and worse thing you can put in your mouth. I think the latter has something to do with there is no such thing as a good doughnut that is free of all that sugary fatness that we all are trying to avoid these days. However, if your willing to venture to the Outer Banks with four locations in the OBX, new location in Williamsburg and next month Virginia Beach. It will be worth it after a taste of a Duck Donut. To say this place is unique is quite an understatement for a doughnut enthusiast like myself. All the donuts are made fresh right in front of your very own eyes. So when ordering my chocolate coconut this morning I saw the hot chocolate dripped over my doughnut and fresh coconut sprinkled over the top. The taste is like no other you will ever try too. For those that crave a great cake doughnut your in for a treat. It was served hot with a slight crunch. My taste buds were thanking me long after that first bite. The service was very friendly at the counter and extremely accommodating to my son who took his time to order the whole dozen. While we waited we looked around at the DD merchandise. There are no tables in the Kitty Hawk store. For the most part it is all carry out, but if you like there is one table that is located outside the store. I was in no mood to wait even one second to put one of these delicious treats in my mouth. Luckily a table was available and we plopped right down and knocked down a few of these incredible delicacies. It would have tasted a lot better with milk, but it is always difficult for me to justify $1.50 for a small carton of milk. Our family has made Duck Donuts thee place for a sweet concoction, or two, or three when visiting in the OBX. Now with a new location in Williamburg we will have yet another reason to divert off of 64 when driving West toward Richmond. But better yet a DD right in my own back yard of VB. Lord help me that I don't blow up to be 400 lbs.

It is duck donuts. It is an OBX must. I just ordered 1/2 dozen on our way out of town. It is an excellent last vacation purchase

Duck Donuts one of my favorite donut shops ever! This is seriously the coolest little place with so many delicious flavors. Duck Donuts not only has really unique donut choices on the menu, but also lets you create custom donuts from any of their toppings. The restaurant is always clean, and the staff is super friendly! You can really tell that customer service is their top priority here. The donuts here are some of the best I've ever had, and the best part is that they make them fresh right in front of you! If you are ever near a Duck Donuts location, you MUST check it out! I will always stop here on my vacations in the OBX and any time I'm near another location as well.

Bottom Line: Fresh cake donuts finished to order and served with southern hospitality. The concept at Duck Donuts is simple - only one type of donut, cake donuts, are made and then the plain cake donuts are coated and topped per the customers order. Examples of coatings include a simple glaze, powdered sugar, chocolate frosting or peanut butter frosting. Examples of toppings include chcocolate sprinkles, coconut, peanuts and bacon. The donuts are made fresh and you may even be able to watch the automated machine squeeze the dough in the fryer, fry the donut and then drop it in the cooling tray. What is really nice about these made to order donuts is that they are always fresh. Also what is super nice is the southern hospitality. There are several locations of Duck Donuts in OBX. This particular location is at MP 1, facing the beach road, across from the Hilton Garden Inn.

The worker did not even say anything to us as we walked up, he proceeded to mess with the coffee cups for at least three minutes before asking us what we would like to order as we stood there. Then proceeded to not ring up the order correctly causing a whole donut to be left out and the other to be made wrong. Will not ever be coming back.

Donuts are nothing special- well not until you come here! Thank you yelpers! I was thousands of miles away from home, desperate for comfort food desperate for a chance at exploring the best of the East Coast- and that I did. They make them fresh when you order- and they aren't greasy like you'd think and not overwhelmingly sweet or artificial tasting at all! These donuts are truly orgasmic! I don't think you can really have a bad donut here! They have that perfect little crunch on the outside and the warm doughy inside. I wish so much that we had em here in California!!!

I've been in Kittyhawk for 4 days now and have been back twice. My group decided to get an assortment of donuts, my favorite though: Citrus Pop! We also got: Maple Icing with chopped bacon, Sunrise Lemon Icing with Raspberry Drizzle, Peanut Butter Icing with Chocolate Drizzle, French Toast, Cookie and Cream, Vanilla Icing with Shredded Coconut. Some of them sound weird, but their donuts are perfectly fried and the dough is amazing. I'd suggest getting an assortment, they can pick them for you, and just try each and every one of them. Although they cost more than the average donut, it's worth it. I will return before I leave to go back to the Midwest and I'll get a little of everything. If you don't eat the right away, nuke them in the microwave for 10 seconds..... still delicious.

This has to be on your to-do list if you're anywhere near Duck. Try these donuts, and you'll understand how they've taken over half the nation. The only issue is parking, so walk there if you can!

Fresh hot donuts with any toppings you want!! Duck donuts makes fresh vanilla cake donuts and offers different glazes, toppings and drizzles. I had the French toast (powdered sugar/cinnamon sugar/maple glaze) with bacon and it was delicious!!

Delicious donuts,could have been a little hotter but we all devoured them. Particularly liked the glazed. Quick service!

Donuts are novelty for anyone visiting the OBX. Flavors are on point.... Get there early to avoid lines..... enjoy!
