My husband and I stayed at the Duck Inn for our first year anniversary and it was so amazing. The view from the room to the ocean was just gorgeous and impeccable. There was nothing like being so immersed in the beautiful surrounding greenery and wildlife and still getting to feel the ocean breeze at the same time. Elise is also a super sweet and gracious hostess, she even let us try some fresh vegetables in her garden. The breakfast every day was so delicious, and as someone who usually hates mornings, I have to say that it is not the case when I am there! Seriously, how can you hate the morning when you wake up to the fresh morning air in Aquinnah and then get served freshly baked muffins and asked what kind of amazing breakfast would you like? We will definitely be going back there many more times in the future.

My husband and I planned a short getaway and purposely stayed at the Duck Inn so we'd be out of the way of other people. We actually stayed in the renovated Barn on the property which was fabulous. Cute, clean, and you're one with nature. Short distance to the most beautiful beach on the island, through a path behind the properties (about a quarter mile walk). There are some stores about a mile up the hill (Aquinnah shops) that are great for local souvenir shopping, a restaurant, lighthouse, etc - but if you want much else, you'll need to prepare ahead of time. There is a local bus that goes past the place, but we did not get a chance to check this out. Elise is a great host! Very kind and will help you with whatever you need. Highly recommended, especially for those just trying to get away from the noise and work, and just relax.

Elise was an amazing host and made my travel companion and I feel very welcome at her Bed and Breakfast. The bed was comfortable and had a beautiful view out into the ocean. The sun, birds and other little morning sounds woke us up gently each day, to our delight. It was close to one of the many beaches on the island and we were able to take in the nature very close by. It was also close to the other inns so a shuttle was able to easily get us from Duck Inn. Breakfast is home cooked by Elise and delicious. Overall an amazing experience.

From the moment Elise greeted us I felt at home. What a magical place! Elise and I have the same taste in decor so I was drooling at some of the pieces in her home. The grounds are so peaceful and gorgeous, loved the ocean view!!! And her breakfast is to die for!!! Always made with organic ingredients and wonderful fresh fruit. We went out each day but in the evenings we enjoyed her fireplace and the peace. I didn't realize until on our way home that we went 4 days without any TV and didn't care!!!! My husband has been vacationing on the Vineyard since he was a child and said this is the best place he has ever stayed. We will make it an annual if not biannual trip, miss Elise , such an amazing woman!!!

It's like being transported to the '70s in the most charming way possible. The host Elise very thoughtfully restored and expanded this historic farmhouse. Our room was cozy with plenty of natural light and the soothing sounds of the distant ocean, woodland animals and birds. You'll love stumbling upon the various nooks and crannies of the home filled with thoughtful handmade touches. And did I mention the breakfast is impeccable? Delicious, as locally sourced as possible, and sometimes with ingredients from Elise's garden! A must-stay if you're visiting Western MV — I recommend you bring a car, otherwise you're beholden to an hourly bus and a 20 minute walk to that bus.

We rented the entire house for a week for our family group. Its a warm, cozy, interesting place that served our needs well for 6 adults and 5 kids. Back home now, we all miss the foot pedals on the sink, the endless quirky dishes and pots and pans, the antique stove, the porches, and all the nooks and crannies filled with entertaining activities. The house itself was actually a significant proportion of the entertainment of the week. It was comfortable for us to relax in and live in, and provided all that we needed- good beds, plenty of towels, a hot tub and sauna, books, music, and fresh vegetables from the garden. And the massages from Elise were outstanding.

Duck Inn was as described: funky, friendly, quiet, fantastic, healthy breakfasts, the sound of the sea at night, a pleasant walk to the beach, and a helpful, friendly innkeeper! The deck from our room had views of the ocean; the property was open and grassy with lots of birds, fed daily by Elise. Some folks might want a fancier place but Elise was helpful, accommodating, and we would be happy to stay here again.
