Walk-up version of Duck Fat. Came for the mainstay (Belgian frites) and wasn't disappointed. Part of the appeal is trying the different sauces, and their mayo is a great option. Came in April and didn't see a line in the afternoon. They're limited outdoor seating

Google
For just fries, sauces and dessert this place kills it. The fries are amazing solo but even better with garlic mayo or truffle ketchup. I could drink that stuff and never get sick of it. Hers a brewery next door they share the space with.

Google
Great spot to have next to Oxbow for snacks. The fries are always delicious. The donuts are good as well. They have an orange flavor which provides some interesting contrast against their delicious caramel sauce and also helps balance the donuts so they aren't overly sweet. Not the friendliest service but not bad.

Google
Honestly kind of disappointed about the poutine. I’m from Quebec, and the poutine wasn’t really authentic, it was more just jumble of fries with cheese and duck fat sauce. The fries by themselves were good! :)

I will visit every single time I’m in Portland. I’m obsessed with these fries. My only “complaint” is how small the sitting area is. Y’all need to/deserve to expand!

Google
Absolutely the most underwhelming of the hyped Portland food options. Came here instead of the regular duckfat bc was told the line is shorter for the same thing. Got the poutine w duck confit addition and came to around $23. Confit is meh. Every component of this dish is salted to death, and this is from someone who would take salty over sweet every time. The paper take out container came with a lid (that I had to go back and ask for when I ordered for to go) that doesn’t fit tight, which is annoying

Google
Well these must be the best fries in all of Portland! Completely delicious. I tried the garlic mayo but will try more of their sauces. I recommend you get at least two btw for the fries. Their chocolate shake meets the "Pulp Fiction 5 Dollar Shake" bar btw so get one of those too! And stupid me thought i'd get home before the box was open....nope, no one could resist so gone in a few minutes in the car ride home...

Yelp
The perfect location for sitting in the shade next to a greenery covered stonewall. There are a couple of breweries that share the same space so it's also a great spot for hopping around. I liked that I could order at the window and then quickly take my order to go or take a seat at a large table nearby. The food was hot and fresh and always leaves us wanting more. Crispy hot fries with silky warm gravy poured all over it that melts the white curds. It's the perfect portion to share with someone as a pre-dinner reservation snack or to accompany a few local brews after shopping the nearby shops. We will be back.

Yelp
Although I was not a big fan of the food personally I think it came down to my personal preferences that I did not really like the duck poutine fries, but I think it was just me not because it wasn't made well. The pumpkin shake that I got. It was the same thing I think it was obviously made really well, but I don't think I liked it for my own personal reasons. However, the fries and sauces are absolutely out of this, and I couldn't recommend it. Super friendly service. The place is cute decorated modern place in the heart of downtown Portland. I would definitely come back here for fries

Yelp
This place is located right outside the Oxbow Brewery. You can order your food here and enjoy them inside the brewery. You can get yourself some free glass of water inside or get yourself a nice glass of beer. We love enjoying our poutine with a cold ale.

Connie T.

Yelp
The food was a little low on quality. Saw my food to another table sit there and then come to me after wards. Soo, it s was cold! But the customer service is still outstanding.

Yelp
Recommended: Yes, for comfort food that pairs perfectly with Oxbow's sours. Overall: A delightful culinary experience that balances richness with quality, set in a charming outdoor setting. Snapshot: Food: 5/5 Drink: 5/5 Vibe: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 4/5 ‍‍ Family-Friendly: 4/5 Highlights: Perfect For: Enjoying rich, flavor-packed dishes in a cozy outdoor setting Don't Miss: The pork belly sandwich, a marvel of deep and balanced flavors Bonus Tip: The combination of Duckfat's food and Oxbow's sours makes for a perfect culinary duo All The Details: Despite numerous visits to Portland and Duckfat's frequent mention as a must-visit, I had my reservations due to the seemingly heavy menu. To my pleasant surprise, the food, while rich, was not overwhelmingly so. Every dish was beautifully and carefully prepared, making each bite a delightful experience. The lobster roll was solid, but the real standout was the pork belly sandwich. It's hard to adequately describe the depth and deliciousness of its flavor - rich yet balanced, filling without being too heavy. The pricing is a bit on the higher side compared to other options, but the quality of what you get justifies it. Pairing Duckfat's exquisite offerings with the world-class sours from Oxbow was a perfect match. The cute outdoor dining area, complete with fire pits, added to the charm of the experience. This visit to Duckfat at Oxbow Brewing was a surprisingly amazing treat, and I'm already looking forward to going back.

Yelp
Duckfat the restaurant is a personal favorite in Portland, so I was excited to visit their frites shack. I'm sorry to say that it didn't live up to expectations for me. Everything I ordered - frites, wings, soda - had great flavor, but apart from the wings, nothing lived up to potential. My frites were lukewarm, and there was a significant amount of "old maid" over-cooked crisps at the bottom of my order. Their clam chowder was disappointing, very thin with exceedingly over-minced clams. The root beer was perhaps the most diluted soda I have ever had. I couldn't appreciate the taste of the soda because the taste of water overwhelmed it. Would I come here again? Yes. Would I think more carefully about what I order? Most definitely.

Craig M.

Yelp
Dude. Sooo good. Loved the truffle ketchup and the fries are the best I've ever had. Must come here! The staff is friendly and helpful. Nice outdoor seating. :)

Perri V.

Yelp
What's not to like about this place? You don't have to worry about the wait at the original location, but you get a lot of the same great food. Obviously the frites are the draw, with a variety of delicious dipping sauces. But everything else is good too. I'm partial to the duckfat caramel milkshake and the donut holes. The best part is that if you're a beer person, you can have your food at Oxbow. Basically you can't go wrong here.

Holly W.

Yelp
Don't believe the hype. That was my take away from my sitting at Duckfat. It's been on my radar for 3 years. I finally made it and I walked away with less money in my pocket, the worst donuts I have ever eaten and a feeling of disappointment. Let's start at the beginning: Cool outdoor area on a beautiful June day Sharing a courtyard with a brewery, wasn't expecting this and made my husband very happy Simple menu makes me feel like theya re doing those things right Nice guy working the shack window The middle: Given a pager to wait for your order Found a picnic table to sit at The end- the food: The donut- I described it as a citrus clam cake, aka just say no (but the caramel dip is a nice touch) The fries/poutine with egg- lacked salt, small portion for $9! Nothing special. (The fries a the brewery later that night were better than these fries)

Miles S.

Yelp
Ohhhhh yeah. That's the review bruh. Don't miss out, show up and show out! Legendary fries, apologies cause I doubt it's vegan so sorry vegans but bruh. These thangs hitttttin fasho worth a stop! Stay eatin!

Alyson T.

Yelp
Got there early and the brewery let us sit at the outside tables while we waited til it opened. We just got the normal poutine and they were probably the best poutine we had!

Brendan S.

Yelp
We initially wanted to go to the regular duck fat location, but with a small baby and a stroller, we wouldn't have fit. But thankfully the frite gods smiled upon us as we went to oxbow brewing and noticed they had a little stand there. The frites were awesome. Having been in Brussels a few months back, I can say these frites were better. You gotta get all of the sauces too. They were all delicious and different from each other. My mouth is watering thinking about the frites.

Quinn W.

Yelp
The perfect pre-dinner snack! We got the fries with the rosemary sauce and the garlic aïoli and it was delicious.

Kristen L.

Yelp
Cute spot! The menu is pretty limited (as the name would suggest) however the specials they offer help to enhance it a bit. Separate bar/brewery in same vicinity for your drink needs. Can get VERY busy in the summer so expect to stand in line to order and an additional wait for food. Tasty fries with delicious assortment of sauces-- not even a ketchup fan regularly but really enjoyed the curry ketchup. Garlic aioli could use more garlic IMO. Overall, a nice addition to the Washington Ave area of Portland.

Emily G.

Yelp
Staff was very rude to me both times I went here. It sucks because I love their donuts and fries but I will never go back because of how snarky and unfriendly they were. Would not recommend, it's not worth it.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Ok - so we started out trying to eat at the Duck Fat restaurant but we were starving and it was a two hour wait. We opted to head to the "shack" which is their fast food version near by. We ordered everything, just about, and took it all to a local park to eat. The wings are crazy crispy. Def worth trying. The seasoning on them was unlike anything I had had before. The duck fat fries- I mean, it's called Duck Fat. Clearly a signature item. Top 5 fry I've had. Pulled pork was good. And the highlight, not pictured, was the milkshake. Top 3 ever. The menu at the regular restaurant is bigger but honestly the shack and a view of a lighthouse while we ate was perfect.

JT R.

Yelp
We always love stopping in the DF shack. It's more casual than the original DF--you can preorder online and walk up to the counter, which has outdoor picnic tables and other casual seating. The grilled cheese, poutine fries, regular fries, and those different sauces are excellent! It's one of our favorite places to stop by when in town. We have eaten at both DFs, but this one is more low-key and casual.

Kimia A.

Yelp
My partner and I think this place is overrated. We ordered the falafel pita, which tasted good and the ingredients seemed to be high quality; however, it was so pricey for the amount of food we got. The namesake duck fries were underwhelming. We got the milkshake, and it was watery. It didn't taste like anything special. TLDR: $$ for amount of food, too much hype, honestly better off checking out another spot in Portland

Kyle V.

Yelp
This place was awesome and lived up to our expectations. As typical tourists, we saw this featured on the Netflix series, "Somebody Feed Phil". The design is an awesome way to utilize the space between multiple breweries/distilleries. The brewery put an outdoor bar right across from the Frites Shack and they have a door leading into a huge brewery inside as well. They all make it very clear that they're all friends and you can use the space however you'd like. We ordered a large fry and the flight of sauces to go with it and 2 milkshakes. Everything was delicious and the truffle ketchup was our favorite sauce but we truly liked them all, definitely worth it to get the flight! My cookies and cream milkshake was so great and my wife loved her chocolate. The chocolate was more of a dark chocolate which she loved, but that's not my ideal option. Don't skip this spot!

Wendy L.

Yelp
We came here because we didn't have time wait at their sister restaurant, which is about a 3 min drive from here. Also, their main location only does dine in and we were looking specifically to get some take out. I'm glad to have checked this space out because it looks like the ideal place to meet up with some friends and enjoy a beer and fries. We got our food to go but I do wish that we had more time to sit down and enjoy our food. There's a brewery next door to Duckfat Frites Shack and a ton of indoor seating, as well as a couple of outdoor tables. The menu here is short and sweet. The focus is on the frites, but they do offer a select variety of milkshakes, and some specials like a smoked pork sandwich, lobster roll, and wings. Ordering is quick at the window, and pickup is at the window immediately adjacent to the ordering window. Service was friendly and prompt. They do include an automatic extra 3% service fee on the bill. We got the smoked pork sandwich ($14), the poutine with duck confit ($18), and their classic Duckfat milkshake ($9.5). I highly recommend trying both food items, but especially their poutine. Their Duckfat milkshake is your basic vanilla shake and I personally would skip it for another flavor like their cookies and cream. There was nothing wrong with the shake but it tasted pretty basic and "vanilla," (pun intended), and not worth the price. I saw that many guests were ordering the plain frites with dipping sauces, which is fine for a snack but if you want something a lot more substantial and meal-like, then poutine is the way to go. They offer a variety of add ons to the poutine, including farm egg, duck egg, pork belly and duck confit. The poutine was excellent- the duck gravy was smooth and mild although I personally would have preferred a little bit more gravy than what they had provided. They were very generous on the cheese curds, which ended up melting nicely onto the fries with time. The duck confit was crispy and savory. It perfectly complemented everything else. This is a fun dish for sharing amongst at least two people! Their smoked pork sandwich was slightly tart, sweet and wonderfully savory. It held up surprisingly well as a take out item and wasn't nearly as messy as some other pork sandwiches I've eaten. I would order this again. All in all, this a place worth visiting while in Portland!

Yelp
Tried this spot for the first time yesterday for the Portland Food Fight January Lord of the Wings event. Super cute spot located by Oxbow Brewing. Super crispy, nice small wings that are smoked. Very yummy. Comes with honey mustard and ranch to dip. We also got the fries with Garlic mayo....yummmmy! I love animal fat fries they are always extra crispy. Outdoor seating only but they have lots of table and seating and with it being January they had outdoor fire pit going and warming hugs you can eat it...the area is decorated so cute. Oxbow may allow you to eat inside...not sure. Dog friendly as is Oxbow on the inside. Parking right in front is for Maine Meade and the businesses in front. To the left of that building is a lot that turns into a credit card pay lot after 6pm weekdays and all day Sarurday and Sunday with a lot of parking. $5 an hour. There is also street parking. Check their website for updated operating days and times.

Yelp
Great place for frites! Ordered the BELGIAN FRITES - hand cut * fried in duck fat. I chose horseradish and garlic mayo for my sides. Holy moly, great place for a bite to hold you over until your next meal or if you are enjoying beverages next door.

David R.

Yelp
Although our first visit was great, we stopped on the way back south. This time, we got a cone full of tiny (~1") fry pieces with a few normal size ones on top. When I went back to the window and showed them, they came up with a series of lame excuses like 'well, sometimes they just end up like that' or 'it's just what the chef has available.' Not once did she say, "I'm sorry, let me replace that; this is not up to our standards." Sorry, but that's not acceptable to me.

Jayson D.

Yelp
The perfect outdoor treat to refuel your walk through sightly Portland! This isn't the Duckfat restaurant--that's a separate listing. We're talking about Duckfat's offshoot, a quaint little walk up shack that dishes up Duckfat's famous frites along with a handful of other snacks and shakes. It also happens to adjoin a brewery, and you're welcome to buy a beer on one side and sit outside eating noms from the Duckfat side. The frites shack isn't on the "tourist strip." You have to walk several blocks away from the coast where the businesses change from touristy to day to day local. But as a local or an info stand for directions. It's worth the walk. Get their namesake--frites! Freshly cut potatoes form chunky frites before taking a short jacuzzi in DUCK FAT. I actually like my frites on the softer side (I'm the oddball who doesn't dig overly crispy fries--don't hate me) so I was thrilled to find Duckfat's soft but firm. You get a great potato bite blended with savory and salty duckfat goodness. You won't be able to stop eating them. Add a shake and/or that beer I talked about. Sit a spell and enjoy your snack at one of the outdoor picnic tables, then mosey back toward the coast. Or walk a few laps; you'll have calories to burn. :-P Easy to recommend--YUM!

Yelp
My partner and I picked Maine for our vacation this year. We flew into Boston and then drove up the coast to our final location in Steuben, ME. A stop in Portland for lunch was something I was super looking forward to, and I'd heard so many good things about Duckfat and their Frites location. I told my partner that it was a "must stop" on our way north. Sadly, I was underwhelmed by this experience. It took us a few minutes to orient ourselves and realize that there were two separate businesses and that we'd need to divide and conquer for our food/drinks. It was starting to spit rain when we got there so we found a shared table inside the brewpub and my partner went to get us beers while I went to place our food order. I ordered the fries (of course) with the spicy Thai mayo and the curry mayo; a pulled pork sandwich for my partner, and a grilled cheese for me. The fries were ... well ... meh. They were limp and slightly greasy. The Thai mayo wasn't spicy at all and the curry mayo was sadly flat and bland. I could taste the curry but it didn't have any punch. The pulled pork sandwich was good; my partner enjoyed it and the bite I had was good. But it wasn't life changing or anything. I'm not sure it was worth $15. And since we're from Georgia, a good pulled pork sandwich is nothing special. The grilled cheese was ... fine. Not great, just fine. Combined with the fries it was a pretty heavy, oily lunch and it was $12 for what is really an average grilled cheese. We wound up spending nearly $70 for a very greasy, bland lunch and 2 beers. It did not live up to the promise. Also there was absolutely no seafood on the menu and given that this was our first meal in Maine, I was a little disappointed about that as well. I should have checked the menu before I picked it for our lunch location on our road trip, but I guess I expected something like fried clams or some other twist on conventional seafood on the menu. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this to someone who was visiting Portland.

Yelp
Before coming to Portland for work and fun, I did some research to find the best restaurants. We even watched an Andrew Zimmer Show and he mentioned that Duckfat was one of the best restaurants in the city. We knew we had to try it. Unfortunately, it was too hard to get into the main restaurant but we were able to try it at Oxbow Brewing. There is a little stand right outside of Oxbow where you can place an order for whatever you want. Then they give you a pager and you can go into Oxbow and get a beer while you wait. You're even able to eat it inside Oxbow or in one of the tables or huts outside. You get delicious food and awesome brews. It was even worth it feeling 100 inside Oxbow. Haha We shared the duck poutine which was other worldly. The fries were nice, crispy and flavorful. There were a lot of ooey gooey delicious cheese curds on top of them with tons of gravy. The duck confit was cooked to perfect and they give you a large portion. After having some beers at Oxbow and some cider at the place in front, we decided to also try their milkshakes which my husband read were also really good. He was right. They were creamy deliciousness. I had the blueberry one because I was in ME and I know ME is known for having awesome blueberries. It was all kinds of delicious. My husband had the chocolate milkshake and loved it too. The man who was running the counter was so patient, kind and sweet while we decided what we wanted. Good service is so important. We loved it and will definitely try other things the next time we come back up to ME. Such an amazing place!

Christine L.

Yelp
We decided to stop by the frites shack since the wait at the original duckfat location was going to be 2 hours. We ordered the poutine + duck egg + pork belly, a small fries with the sauce flight, chicken wings, and the tomato soup. The fries were great but the real star for us were the sauces! My favorite was the curry mayo. We also really enjoyed the chicken wings with the Thai seasoning. They were perfectly crisp and juicy and the seasoning was delicious.

Jesse S.

Yelp
You're here for the fries, and it's well worth it. Ordered the standard poutine with no extra toppings. Would absolutely go back and try some of the add-ons! My fear was a soggy salty pile of wet fries clumped together...what you usually get if it's not done properly. This is quite the opposite. The fries are crispy. The gravy is full of savory flavor. The cheese is in the perfect creamy state. Each piece stands out, yet works together. It was quiet tonight, as it's getting a little cooler. Tons of outdoor seating. Took about 10 minutes from order to digging in.

Robert J.

Yelp
Outstanding! Visited on Father's Day and were quickly served with minimal wait. Lobster roll and poutine with pork belly. Both were absolutely fantastic! Wife had grilled cheese and tomato fennel soup and was delighted. Also nice to be able to take the food into Oxbow and enjoy a few brews.

Samantha L.

Yelp
All the hype with such a let down. Stopped by today for a little snack because it's been a long time since I had these fries. I branched out and got poutine and I was so disappointed. The gravy tasted chalky, very little curds and the fries were not crispy (gravy was on the side because it was a to go). So boom, bam blah. $13ish bucks down the drain. So why the 3 stars, still? Doughnut holes were the saving grace. They were so so unexpectedly DELICIOUS. With a lemon flavored surprise that was not advertised but whole heartedly welcomed. And then dunked into the caramel sauce really brought me places. Albeit pricey, $9 for 6 is steep. But, everything here is steep. Since 1 poutine and donuts set me back nearly $30. Woof.

Rozet S.

Yelp
Amazing spot if you want a quick pick-me-up. Their frites with the truffle ketchup hits the spot every time! I also love this spot - there's a brewery right next door so you can order and bring it to the brewery.

Jason M.

Yelp
As I was planning my trip to Portland, a number of my friends and colleagues suggested spots to try. One that consistently came up was Duckfat, so I made it my intention to try it out. During my first day in the city, I attempted to have lunch there but the wait was quite long - since we were hungry, we decided to go elsewhere for the time being. When I was exploring their website, I noticed they had a walk-up frites shack not too far away attached to a brewery, so we decided to check it out and grab a few beers while we were at it. Duckfat Frites Shack is located pretty much within Oxbow Blending & Bottling. The entrance to the brewery is on Washington Ave; after entering and walking down a few steps, you'll see the Shack. You can either order at the counter or order in advance - if you choose the latter you need to let them know once you arrive as they do not start your order until you are there. Since it's a walk-up window there is no seating per se, but the brewery has a lot of indoor and outdoor tables. I noticed people sitting while drinking beer and eating food from the Shack, so I think it's alright to sit there if you're planning to stay. The menu is an abbreviated version of the full Duckfat menu, with a couple of sandwiches, shakes, a salad, poutine, and of course frites. The poutine was catching our eyes, so we decided to go with that. They had only one style which was mostly traditional, but gave the option to add toppings. Keeping with the duck theme, we thought duck confit would be a nice touch so we decided to add it. The poutine was truly delicious - the fries were crispy, just the right amount of gravy, a LOT of cheese curds, and that duck confit really elevated it to another level. Honestly this was some of the best poutine I've ever had. Service was fast - it took about 10 minutes after we arrived for our order to be ready, and everyone we encountered was super friendly. Overall, Duckfat's Frites Shack is great - pairing the offerings with a brewery totally works, and the food is delicious. If can't or don't want to commit to the full sit-down Duckfat experience, this is an awesome alternative.

S F.

Yelp
Great little outpost right next to a brewery. Order your food and go grab a beer while waiting. The fries are obviously amazing but I can't stop thinking about those chicken wings. Dry rub, crispy, juicy - just yum.

Kristin S.

Yelp
Located within a brewery; beer and frites? What more can you ask for on a nice afternoon? We got the frites with Thai chili Mayo and horseradish Mayo. Both tasted fresh with a good kick. Fries were just right, crispy yet soft. We also got the double fried wings with BBQ rub and they were perfection. I will say, be ready to stand in a line because this place is POPULAR. Quick to get food to you so no need to worry about that!

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Would definitely recommend stopping by if in Maine! There are some breweries nearby so this is a perfect quick bite in between! The fries were delicious and loved the sauces they came with!

Alyson Y.

Yelp
They serve my favorite fries - EVER. Fries are made in duckfat and they are so flavorful (salty) and perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on in the inside. The sauces are also amazing - an order of fries comes with two different sauces (or you can do a flight for more). Ordered the truffle ketchup and thai chili mayo and both were delicious - would definitely recommend. The area is great - cute indoor and outdoor seating and variety of other food and beers. It is a great place for casual group outings. It is a drive to get there as it is not in the main Portland area. What I love about this place is that the setting/ambience allows you to grab small bites if you have a bigger group and don't want to sit down at their restaurant location.

Wern O.

Yelp
TLDR: get the sauce flight! Came here on a Friday night towards end of patio season and had about an hour wait for a table of two. The fries were good but the real standout were the flight of sauces. Each sauce was complex and flavorful. The sandwiches were decent as well. The brisket being much better than the duck banh mi sandwich. Also hats off to the non alcoholic drinks - the creamsicle was superb and I loved the original milkshake.

Greg F.

Yelp
The frites at Duckfat in Portland are an absolute must, but the main location is in such demand that the wait times are ridiculously long. We went there on a Saturday in late morning and the wait was already 1.5 hrs. So we decided to visit the Duckfat Friteshack next to the great Oxbow brewery instead, and I highly recommend trying this. There was almost no wait, the outdoor seating was lovely, and you can grab a tasty beer to accompany the frites. Mke sure you get the flight of five dipping sauces.

Esther K.

Yelp
The fries. are. amazing. My boyfriend and I ordered the duckfat poutine with duck confit. What I loved the most were the sauces. We got truffle ketchup, garlic mayo and curry mayo. We also did to go because we knew we couldn't finish it since we ate prior to coming here. The area is so cute too. There's a bar next to it so you can order yourself a beer and sit outside or inside this large really cool space. Anyone who is traveling to Portland, I highly suggest coming here!

Cassandra S.

Yelp
I'll keep this review short: if I could swim in a vat of Duckfat pork belly poutine, I'd jump right in. Will absolutely be coming back the next time I'm in Portland.

Sean M.

Yelp
Duckfat has always provided excellent service and food(particularly French fries). We are local and visit oxbow/duckfat frites shack a dozen annually. The last few times our Fries had been mediocre at best. They little bits of fries, not close to a full french fry size. Yesterday was pathetic and should never have been served! They need to reevaluate and bring their standards back up.

Robert R.

Yelp
I mean, they are fresh hot French fries with tasty dipping sauces. They are exactly as good as you are hoping they are. I also got the "chips and dip" special, because I love chips and dip, they were a bit of a let down. So skip those. The frites though were absolutely brilliant and carry this 5 star review. The lemon donuts holes were just the icing on the fried cake :)

Jenny T.

Yelp
Fries were delicious - best fries I've ever had. NOT cheap ($7.70 for small fries with 1 sauce), but it's worth it if you came all the way up to Portland ME for this (lol me). The sauce was delicious as well lol definitely could've had another one for sure but is it worth paying $1 for another sauce? The shack is really cute, it's fast, lots of outdoor seating. Met some cool people there (I was there on my own). I'd come back for the fries and probably get 2 sauces (yes so desperate to try another sauce LOL).

Yelp
I was looking forward to trying this place when visiting Portland. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed. I got the standard poutine. The fries were great alone but there was nothing on them. An extremely skimpy amount of gravy & cheese curds as you can see in the picture. For $10-11 or whatever it was, I expected a larger portion. I can't really rate the poutine because I'd argue it's not really poutine without ample toppings. I only got about 10-15 fries with gravy and had to search for the cheese curds.

Yelp
Absolutely da best!! It's a small venue but worth the wait. The waitstaff were great and the food was even greater! I fell in love with the turkey panini. The bread was super soft but crunchy on the outside and paired well with those addictive fries. I want to warn you to not sleep on the blueberry and buttermilk shake.

Yelp
Delish food and outdoor seating that doggos can enjoy as well. We will be back! The shake was incredible- we had blueberry.

Yelp
Oh. My. God! The truffle ketchup!! I like the stand at the bar outside feel. I feel like I'm standing in a garden lounge. And with beer right behind you, it's the perfect place for a snack and a drink!

Yelp
The Frites Shack is located right next to Oxbow Brewing, and was much less crowded than their flagship restaurant. We went to get fries, the flight of sauces, and milkshakes (along with our beer from Oxbow). The Frites Shack offers a limited menu (fries, poutine, shakes, doughnut holes) compared to the flagship restaurant, although they do have a few specials that are "real food". We got the pulled pork sandwich. The fries were great, but didn't taste different from fries not fried in duck fat. They were salty and delicious, served in a paper cone. You would be remiss if you didn't get the sauce flight. The fries are good, the sauces are great! (All mayos are made in house!!) The sandwich we got was good. Not too sauce-y, but overall, flavored well. 7.5/10 Milkshake- I got the salted Duckfat caramel milkshake, and it was very rich. Delicious, but rich. They come in one size, maybe 10ish oz? It tasted as if they made the milkshake, and made fresh whipped cream, and then folded them together. Prices here are for sure a bit expensive. $9 for the milkshake, $10 for a large fry. But overall, it was a great experience, and I'd go back. The atmosphere is nice and the food is fun!

Yelp
We missed out on doing Duckfat proper and only stopped here for some poutine with duck confit, but I am so happy we did -- it was incredible, and I regret not getting to the main restaurant and/or getting more here. I'm not a poutine expert, but everything about this one was just about perfect -- the fries, the gravy, the duck, and I even loved the curds. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Portland.
