Glass Incident Fire Damages or Destroys at Least Seven Vineyards, Many More Remain in Jeopardy - Eater SF

"Though it was rumored to have burned, the recently opened Duckhorn winery was spared by the flames, announcing on Instagram that 'Thanks to the heroic efforts of fire crews last night, Duckhorn Vineyards is standing tall, and our staff (including our beloved winery cat Kitter) is out of harm’s way.'" - Eve Batey

Duckhorn Vineyards Review - Napa - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Duckhorn in St. Helena is a good middle ground between the powerhouse wineries and the smaller tasting rooms in Napa Valley. It looks like an East Coast vacation home - or a place a head of state may have traveled to with his Scottish terriers in the 1920s - and has a sunny tasting room and gardens. This place specializes in red blends, and for wine tastings they pour Duckhorn, instead of the cheaper bottles of Decoy you see everywhere. If you can convince them to let you try their red blend called the Discussion, do it - it’s incredible." - Will Kamensky

Delightful, straightforward, wine tasting experience. Stunning property, beautiful building. Our charcuterie was a delightful pairing to the wine flight. Our Somalia Chris was fantastic, engaging informed, low pressure, and had us out the door with everything we wanted. can’t wait to come back from Texas for another visit. Also, so glad we were able to pick up a wine suitcase. looking forward to the wine club membership deliveries.

Google
Our best experience due to excellence in service, atmosphere and generous pours. Our host was very knowledgeable in pairings, flavor combinations and discriminations. Very essential for trying 9 new reds with an array of several new cheeses, nuts, meats and berries.

My mom and husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Duckhorn. Luis was amazing, gave us the best recommendations and he truly made us feel at home (even gave us a pop quiz at the end) We all learned so much and the vineyard is just stunning.

Wonderful wines in a pleasant setting. Our host, Christie, was friendly and helpful and the weather was surprisingly cool for the time of year. All in all, a great experience.

Miguel and Taylor were excellent hosts! We absolutely loved our visit here. The customer service, hospitality, and knowledge from all of the staff we interacted with was impressive. The quaint and historical house was the best surprise. With such a big name in the wine game we were expecting a modern, opulent building and staff. To our surprise, it was quite the opposite. The grounds and house are stunning and of course we had an excellent wine tasting! We were camping so to be welcomed with such friendly staff made the experience a special one. I can't wait to return with more friends and family!

Google
Did the $65 portfolio tasting. Luckily, it was all reds! The wines are excellent. The cheese board is delicious. The service was good. Beautiful grounds and ambiance. We enjoyed sitting outside despite the heat. I really liked this winery, but it is expensive.

Google
Duckhorn Vineyards offers a superb wine tasting experience. The atmosphere is inviting and elegant, perfect for both novices and connoisseurs. Their exceptional wines, particularly the Merlots, are well-crafted and memorable. Highly recommend for a delightful tasting journey!

Great wine great service! Some friends invited us for a tasting and ended up buying a bottle of the Golden eye. The staff was friendly and the view off the porch was great!

Yelp
We had an incredible experience at Duckhorn Vineyards in Napa Valley! The Portfolio Tasting was a highlight of our visit, featuring five exceptional current-release wines from their list. The artisanal cheese and charcuterie complemented the flavors perfectly, which we purchased on top of the tasting. What truly made our experience stand out was the amazing service from Luis, our sommelier. He was knowledgeable and attentive, answering all our questions and making us feel welcome. I must apologize for my clumsiness - I accidentally broke not one, but two wine glasses! Luis and the team were gracious and understanding, making us feel at ease despite the mishap. Duckhorn Vineyards is a must-visit destination in Napa Valley. The combination of exceptional wines, stunning scenery, and friendly staff makes for an unforgettable experience.

Yelp
Amazing wine, amazing service, gorgeous grounds. This was my first time at Duckhorn (although I've had their wine before) and it blew me away. Our wine specialist was so accommodating and really knew the history and was super sweet, I think her name was Rachael? Anywho, if you're coming up to the napa valley this place should 100% be on your list.

Yelp
What a beautiful winery, vineyard, and cellar! Of course, everybody knows how great the horn wines are, especially the Merlots and the Cabs! I had an opportunity to taste some duck corn wines that were from 1998! All I can say is it tastes like a smooth refined grape juice! I recommend sitting on the back patio and having a three glass tasting

Yelp
Duckhorn vineyards in Napa county California. Is a beautiful picturesque winery in the foothills of the Palisades Mountains. I was taking my grandma on a wine tour of California and she wanted to check out Napa and Sonoma. The wine was decent. The charcuterie board was ok. The person yapping at us about the wine was a little bit rude. I studied hospitality management including food and beverage operations. When I asked if we would be given separate glasses for each wine vs one glass for four different ones during our tasting (I learned you should be given a different glass for each wine) she snapped at me (she even got a few her facts wrong) but people are people and at the end of the day the wine was good and my grandmother enjoyed herself.

Yelp
I booked Duckhorn Vineyards a few months ago but was unable to visit due to my husband catching Covid. The front desk was super empathetic and kindly moved my reservation to the following month. Right before my visit this weekend, I had to increase my party count and Marina at the front desk was helpful and prompt with returning my calls to get my reservation updated. Upon arriving, we were welcomed with a glass a Pinot rose. Our host Miguel, was extremely knowledgeable on the history and the production process of the wine. He was attentive, sweet and provided excellent customer service. This was truly one of the best experiences we had at Napa and we are Bay Area locals who visit Napa often! Our party of 6 had an amazing time at Duckhorn! With our new membership here, we will definitely be visiting more frequently. Thanks Miguel!

Yelp
There is a long story as to how we got here, but we are SO happy it is where we landed! Upon our arrival at Duckhorn, Tony Sacca was more than welcoming. His smile, his relaxed nature and his attention to making us feel at home was overwhelming. He sat us at a beautiful table in the corner and told to sit and back and enjoy. Which is exactly what we did. From the first sip of sparkling we were more than ready to enjoy. Now Christie Hurtado enters the picture, what a breath of fresh air she was. She understood who we were and what we were looking for after the first glass was poured. Her attention to our likes and dislikes, the fact we were local and she started to pour her magic. She went off script almost immediately, knowing we were not looking for big reds. She brought us interesting bottles from the portfolio that peaked our interest to try more. She was so attentive to all the details. Truly gifted in hospitality, she made us feel extremely special and was willing to go above. I also want to point out her knowledge of the brand. There was nothing she could not answer. Both Tony and Christie and the Duckhorn team made this afternoon wonderful. I looking forward to enjoying the couple of cases that I purchased along with bringing family and friends when they come to visit. A true Napa Valley GEM!

Yelp
Duckhorn is so much more than the labels you see on the shelf. Yes, it's always good to know you have amazing wine on hand across the US, but the journey to the region to visit their different brands is inspiring. We've been club members for 3 years, and love visiting each vineyard. The personalized service, incredible properties (inside and out), and customer care are truly an experience. It makes seeing that bottle that much more beautiful. We always ship home a special selection you can't find anywhere else. Cheers to more years!

Yelp
We had a lovely experience at Duckhorn! It's a bit out of the way from downtown St. Helena which made it quiet and peaceful. Thomas was our server and he was excellent. Clearly very knowledgeable about the wines and the vineyard, plus he seemed genuinely excited about the wines they were serving. In addition to the five sample wines for a tasting, Duckhorn also provides breadsticks to nibble on. Their reds are fantastic - both the cabs and the merlots.

Yelp
09232023 The girlfriend has a wine membership here and this has been one of our fave spots for our girls outings. The ambiance and the staff are super friendly and it's always nice to just decompress and catch up. This past time, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sun with a hint of wind from Mother Nature. Our wine flight for that day was decent - the girls all loved it but I opted to drink the lighter side of the wines available. Our server managed to give us pinot noir tasting on the side, which I forgot what it was but it was delicious. Definitely well worth checking out and super grateful for the girlfriend's membership!

Yelp
Around about the turn of the 21st Century; someone gave me a five-year old bottle of Duckhorn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon for my birthday.  Shortly thereafter, I invited a friend over to my Man Cave, ordered one of my favorite pizzas, and my friend and I shared both the pizza and the wine.  Before drinking it that first time, I decanted the Duckhorn Cabernet for 8 hours.   Subsequently, I worked out by trial and error that (for me) when drinking Duckhorn Cabernet decanting for several hours prior is required - unless the wine is 9 years old or older.  Ever since I drank that first bottle of Duckhorn, I've been an ardent fan.  Duckhorn's Cabernet are consistently excellent, and I always try to have a couple of bottles on hand for special (and not so special) occasions. The next time I was in their neighborhood, I made a tasting appointment.  When we arrived for our tasting we were escorted to our table outside the main building on the beautiful Duckhorn Vineyards.  The sommelier who took care of us that day was exceptional.  She spent time telling us in detail about all the wines they were pouring that day; she event offered us several tastes of wines that were not on the regular tasting menu.  Unfortunately, I hadn't anticipated how much we'd enjoy this tasting visit, so the only way we could take advantage of the offered extra tastings was to cancel our next appointment. Tip: If you're a fan of big, complex reds, I strongly suggest that you don't schedule a tasting appointment afterwards that's too close to yoour appointment here; you'll be much happier if you allow sufficient time here first. To sum it all up, the grounds and interior sitting areas of Duckhorn Vineyards are beautiful, and their wines (especially their signature Cabernet) are among the best available in wine country.  I strongly suggest that you take the time to get acquainted with Duckhorn the next time you find yourself in their neighborhood. ======================================================= Note: According to Wikepedia, the company that owns Duckhorn (The Duckhorn Portfolio Inc), owned ten wineries (under various different names) as of 2021.  Their portfolio includes: Duckhorn Vineyards: Napa Valley red and white wine Decoy: varietal and blended red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines Paraduxx: Napa Valley blended red, white, and rosé Goldeneye: Anderson Valley Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, rosé, and sparkling Migration: red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines from the Russian River Valley, Santa Maria Valley, and other locations. Canvasback: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Riesling, and rosé from Washington State

Yelp
We've visited Duckhorn about 5 times over the past 5 years. Every time seems to get better and better. The last time we visited we were able to enjoy a "Marlee's Signature Tasting." From the website: "Celebrating Margaret's legacy, our 90-minute Marlee's Signature Tasting is hosted in our idyllic Marlee's garden, with views of her namesake vineyard. This tasting offers a selection of coveted single-vineyard wines and our iconic Sauvignon Blanc, paired with delectable small bites. " It was the BEST tasting we did on this recent trip. Our host Scott was SO attentive , relaxed, cool, fun, not pushy. Every year Duckhorn seems to do better and better. The wines are beautifully crafted from Duckhorn (Three Palms Merlot -- exceptional). The wines from Goldeneye are ....perfection. I can't say enough great things about Duckhorn. It really is first class. Thanks to the team.

Yelp
As wine club members we love our experience at Duckhorn Vineyards. Such a beautiful wraparound patio to enjoy our tasting. Jessica was our host and was incredibly knowledgeable in the wines and history of Duckhorn. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

Yelp
Not sure why I have yet to write a review for a St. Helena staple--Duckhorn. I've been coming here for years. The taste is always consistent, yet steadily expressive. My person fav are the cabs, notwithstanding Duckhorn's famous for its merlot. Above all, our guide Miguel was THE BEST I've ever experienced, and I've been to Opus one, quintessa, just to name a few. He is personal, professional, warm, and knowledgeable with over ten years of experience in the wine industry. If you go, please ask for him, thank me later.

Yelp
@duckhornwine wine and tasting experience never disappoints. Duckhorn wines are everything you want from Napa wines...Big Cabernets and Merlots Their merlots are my favorite, full bodied and smooth. The Goldeneye Rose and Pinot Noir were a special treat that was unexpected.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to visit this winery and loved it. Such a cute tasting room, different from a couple of the other properties in the portfolio I've visited. We were seated in the outdoor area and it was such perfect weather. We were shaded by the trees, but they also have umbrellas if needed. Was pretty busy for a Friday morning, but service was great and she accommodated my friends that preferred to have white vs red wine. Would love to come back again in the future.

Yelp
Had to stop by my favorite winery during my trip to Napa. The tasting was delicious and the staff was very knowledgeable and kind. It was a rainy day, but the patio was lovely and indoors felt classy. Will come back!

Yelp
Ever since after having a bottle of Duckhorn at a Christmas party one year I had long awaited going to a tasting here. It had become my favorite brand of wines, so I was so excited to finally come and revel in this experience. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, the staff all so kind which added to the ambiance. Seth, was an excellent host and took us on a tour of the different pours without us having to ever leave our seats. He shared the history and story of the Duckhorn portfolio with much enthusiasm. I appreciated his suggestions of pairings with the our tasting plate that brought out the beautiful notes of each wine. Our time was so memorable and look forward to coming back again. Personally, the Rutherford, Three Palms, and Discussion - were my top favorite!

Yelp
Beautiful property with amazing service. A great winery to explore especially for those who are just starting out. The tasting is free for members (we've been for 5 years!) and highly recommended! All foodies should absolutely request Scott who is just next level with recommendations when it comes to pairing wines and food. We left with 12 amazing wines and will continue to come back every year!

Yelp
Outstanding wines in an elegant patio-garden environment. Have to comment that Rachael, our server could not have been a more a charming, educational and fun hostess. She is an amazing asset to the Duckhorn organization. What a great blend of product and service! Thank you!

Yelp
I like the wines here but am disappointed at the tasting experience. I used to love tastings here but I feel like they have gotten so commercialized and less personal. Our host was nice and allowed us to try certain wines outside of the tasting I really wanted to try (which I ended up buying multiple bottles of), but he was barely with us the entire 1 hr tasting. It was supposed to be 45 minutes but a full 40 minutes passed before we even got to our 2nd wine because he was busy handling 3-4 other tables (he appeared to be the only one serving the entire outdoor section we were at). As a result, we were incredibly late to our next tasting and we sat there idle doing nothing for most of the tasting. Very disappointing. That said, I still have to give 4 stars because I really do enjoy the wines. My favorites are the Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc, the Goldeneye Pinot, and the Three Palms Merlot.

Yelp
Came here on a spontaneous trip from LA for Labor Day weekend and I am beyond impressed. In absolute love with the entire staff ! Every one is so friendly and happy to explain the little intricate things such as why they smell corks to the bigger things regarding the history of the wines. Tyler was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! If you are able to request people I 100% recommend asking for him. He is so knowledgeable and such a fun time ! All his recommendations were on spot and we ended up walking away with 3 wines and a membership! We will definitely be back and be coming to look for him and hopefully see the rest of the staff ! Amazing! Thank you to everyone who made this first wine tasting experience amazing !

Yelp
Beautiful grounds. Decent and pricey tastings. Upon arrival we were instructed to wait and wonder the grounds. Experience was quick and quaint. Wine was decent so I took home some.

Yelp
Have been to Duckhorn twice as well as Paraduxx and at both properties the service was just "ok." Not welcoming, especially throwing in a lost reservation and being treated like we were there to steal the silver. Three visits, when there are so many friendly and exceptional wineries in the area, is more than enough. I won't be back.

Yelp
I was in Napa for a quick getaway and definitely wanted to go to Duckhorn since I really enjoy their wine. I definitely made sure to make a reservations (I know that they fill up pretty quickly so I definitely recommend if you are planning on coming to this winery). I made the first reservation for the day and since it was a Monday, it was very empty, which was great. (There was only 1 other party). Huge props to Miguel, our wine educator, we were able to learn a lot about the wines and he answered all of our questions. He definitely made the experience so much better. He also poured us a few additional pours based upon our discussions, which was great to try, including a pinot (which I typically do not enjoy), but really liked a lot. I am definitely going to come back here and if you are here, ask for Miguel to learn so much stuff. As for the grounds itself, it is beautiful! The Duckhorn mansion was cool to see. There is a small indoor area and a larger outdoor area. I sat outdoors in the patio and it was great. There is also a cat roaming around, Kitters, who I made friend with (lol). Definitely keep an eye out for him as he is super cuddly and friendly. I initially wanted to buy a couple of bottles, but realized that joining the wine club made sense to me. Their shipments were small and they provided free shipping. Unfortunately, they do not waive tastings for joining the wine club, but if you decided to go to any of the other wineries under Duckhorn during your stay, the tastings will be waived. I ended up last minute deciding to go to Paraduxx and got the tasting waived. Definitely will be back here again!!

Yelp
Duckhorn has been in Napa Valley since 1976 and was a pioneer in bringing Merlot to the Napa Valley. Nice staff but overall underwhelmed with the offerings. We wanted to like it since they offered 2 Merlot and 2 cabs but to no avail... Duckhorn Chardonnay 3/5 Goldeneye Sparkling Wine Brut Rose 3/5 Goldeneye Pinot noir Confluence 2/5 Duckhorn Merlot atlas peak 2/5 Duckhorn Merlot three palms vineyard 3/5 Duckhorn Cabernet monitor ledge vineyard 3/5 Duckhorn Cabernet patzimaro vineyard 3/5 Tip: On a positive note, buy one get one free wine tasting for Military/veterans!

Yelp
My favorite wine. Such a beautiful location and very knowledgeable staff. The wine is the best in Napa. Always a great time.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
The wine itself is fabulous. It is the higher end of its sister decoy. I was disappointed with the our host who didn't seem to have a lot to knowledge of the different wines for our tasting, rather just a memorized version of .the basic information of the premise As their logo was a duck . It would have been nice if they have some ducks playing in the pond. ( I was later told that the owners name was Duckhorn and had nothing to do with duckies :s Lots of red to try with one glass of Chardonnay to start off our palate.
google avatar

Yelp
I really like this winery. Very personal with very tasty wine overall. The grounds aren't that large, but it has a very homey feel to it. The big drawback is that they don't allow kids. I didn't test it as my wife and daughter just walked around as I went in, but the website was pretty clear. Still staff was very friendly. I'd consider the wine here to be some of the very best in Napa.

Yelp
We were up in the Sonoma/Napa region for a weekend getaway... on our way to our first winery reservation at a different vineyards, we were told that our reservation needed to be canceled since they got flooded out. So my group and I had to scramble to look for a different winery to take us. I've always wanted to visit Duckhorn and did not know if they had any reservation since it was last minute and on a Saturday too. When I called, the host stated she could fit my group of 6 people in at noon. We arrived early at 11:15am since it was pouring rain and we didn't have anything else to do. The host was very understanding since we did get there early, she had us wait for a couple minutes for them to set up the table and while we waited, we got a splash of their rose. We got seated inside and it was gorgeous and other parties that were there, were spaced out.. so it did not feel so cramped. Our wine expert, Chris, was very informative and made our experience worthwhile. He explained each wine we tasted with such expertise and with a splash of humor which captivated us. It captivated me so much that I even joined the wine club! I'm looking forward on coming back to this place! And to also take my friends and family who are visiting. I recommend this place to anyone who is coming/visiting the St Helena/Napa region.

Cynthia N.

Yelp
We visited Napa during MLK weekend, and the first winery of the day that we had planned unfortunately flooded, so we called duckhorn and they were able to accommodate us. This was a lucky turn of events because this actually happened to be my group's favorite winery of the day. The staff were pleasant and captivated you in the story of the winery and made the experience a great one. The wine itself was amazing, paired nicely with the jam and cheeses. The tasting room itself is elegant and refined, centered around their duck theme. I'd love to make my way to their other properties in the future, and it's definitely a must-go for anyone visiting the Napa area!
google avatar

Rochelle D.

Yelp
If you're a wine lover visiting Napa Valley, the Duckhorn Winery Tasting Room is definitely worth a visit. The winery is set in a beautiful location, with stunning views of the vineyards and the mountains in the distance. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they do a great job of explaining the different wines and the winemaking process. The tasting room itself is spacious and well-lit, with plenty of room for groups of all sizes. As for the wine, it's certainly high quality and delicious. The Chardonnay and Merlot are particularly noteworthy, and the Cabernet Sauvignon is a standout as well. However, some of the other varietals were less impressive, and didn't quite live up to the high standards set by the best wines. One thing to keep in mind is that the prices here are on the higher side, so it may not be the best choice for budget-conscious wine drinkers. But if you're willing to spend a bit more for a high-end tasting experience, the Duckhorn Winery Tasting Room is definitely worth considering. Overall, while there may be other wineries in Napa that offer more bang for your buck, the Duckhorn Winery Tasting Room is a solid choice for those who value quality over quantity.

Ron M.

Yelp
Been to DV tasting several times since my last review with our friends and must say, the wines are as wonderful as ever and the service always great. The small snacks at tasting were again on point and the service as always was excellent. This time we had Tony and Luis who added to our experience and fun. The only thing we all miss are the small tasting cards for each person rather than just the book. It is always lovely to be on the patio and enjoy the scenery. Great place to go to in Napa for fine wine and great fun.

Yelp
A trip to Nappa Valley is incomplete without a visit to Duckhorn Vineyards. If you are a red wine drinker, the best (in my opinion) were "The Discussion," A Nappa Valley Red, the "Carneros," a Nappa Valley Merlot, and "Three Palms" a Nappa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines were incredibly smooth and flavorful, and the setup and experience of the location was stunning. My husband and I got to walk through the vineyards and sample grapes from different types of wine, such as cabernet versus merlot grapes. Our host explained each bottle of wine very well and was very knowledgeable and generous. Overall, it was an incredible experience, and we went and picked up a bottle of "Decoy" cabernet once we reached home (as we had no bag space and it is a sister company). I would absolutely recommend visiting Duckhorn Vineyards and enjoying the incredible experience they offer. We look forward to returning to Duckhorn and the many sister properties after such a wonderful time.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of sister winery, Goldeneye, and was finally able to give the mothership a try! Luckily, we were able to get a last minute tasting reservation on a Sunday around lunchtime. The sunny & warm weather was perfect for a wine tasting on their deck. Our server was delightful and did a great job of explaining the history, wines, and suggesting which cheeses to pair our tastings with. The pours themselves were tiny, and like most places in Napa they don't sell wines by the glass. While Duckhorn is known for bringing Merlot to Napa, I was most impressed by the Monitor Ledge Cabernet. It was bright, fruity, and pleasantly unlike traditional Napa cabs. Overall a great experience, but can get similar quality wines & better value for money elsewhere!

Yelp
Incredible winery, didn't actually do the wine tasting- but they were super accommodating to non-drinkers !! Caitee was our server and she was amazing !
google avatar

Yelp
Duckhorn is a pretty vineyard and the wine is good, but having a winery of their size, it's hard for the experience to be as specialized as some of the smaller winery's are able to accomplish. The ambiance of the vineyard is great. The service was friendly, but by the last glass of wine we were ready to leave.

Yelp
*** Experience during the COVID-19 Pandemic *** Hubs and I visited Duckhorn winery recently.... And we will be back (again and again and again)! Unfortunately, our drive to Napa took much longer than anticipated due to traffic therefore we ended up being about 15 minutes late for our reservation. Despite being late, the hostess was incredibly kind and understanding.... And gracious for offering a refund of our reservation fee since we didn't have the full hour to experience all of the wines featured in their tasting menu. Additionally, the hostess offered us a taste of their sauvignon blanc, which we enjoyed out on their patio. Staff welcomed us as we walked around their shop and answered our questions. We were even fortunate enough to taste their popular Cabernet Sauvignon "Howell Mountain".... We loved it so much we made sure to purchase a bottle. Duckhorn winery is both beautiful inside and outside, with plenty of seating for groups (small or large) throughout their great outdoor space. Whether you want to feel the warm sunshine or be seated beneath the shade, there's a table fit for everyone. Their shop has many great finds such as baseball caps, umbrellas, scarves, plenty of wine accessories, and of course... their fantastic variety of wines. Duckhorn winery is following all CAL-Osha guidelines to ensure the safety of all their staff and guests. The tables of guests are set far apart (more than 6 feet) which adds a second layer of safety. Plenty of onsite parking, too! Date of visit: Friday, 04/09/21

Yelp
Property is pretty. Tasting experience wasn't great and wines weren't our flavor profile. Tasting fee was $50.

Yelp
I'm emotionally attached to Duckhorn! LOL Pen is a piece of home I carry with me since I could only bring limited amount of supply on travels. But the vineyard itself's got lovely ambience, warm & friendly staff, high quality well-crafted wines. Howell Mountain Cab one of my faves I take along. I am so looking forward to my next visit and pick more pens! ;)

Yelp
Love this winery! We stopped by a couple weekends ago and had Christie as our server. From the start, she was super friendly and took the time to explain the wine to us. The wine was incredible and since we are club members at sister winery Paraduxx, we got a pretty sizable plate of cheese! It was our only winery booked of the day and we had such a great time. The estate is beautiful and everything is super spaced out so you feel very safe during these crazy COVID times. We ended up leaving with a couple of bottles, including my fav - the Discussion! Only downside I could possibly think of is that they do not allow dogs :( so Pepito will not be joining us on future trips. But there will be future trips! We love this place.

Yelp
Chris said, "I'm going to introduce the Discussion. It's better than an Argument." And that joke really sums up the brilliant experience we had at Duckhorn. The day was beautiful and we sat outside. We tasted at least 8-9 different wines (mostly reds) and munched on some delicious snackies. Our sommelier, Chris, was funny, informative and just wonderful. Now, we probably were treated this well because one of our friends is a member. But if this is how members are treated, then a membership is definitely worth it all!! You can get some really pretty pictures in the vineyards. All in all, a wonderful experience!

Yelp
Amazing experience. Traveling for a confrence into Napa and stopped at duckhorn on our third day in Napa. Miguel was so knowledgeable attentive and personable. We thoroughly enjoyed him as our host and got to taste some amazing wine! the estate was gorgeous to make it a perfect afternoon. Ask for Miguel!

Yelp
Tyler did a great job. The problem with Duckhorn, is they did not honor, on our visit, 4 complimentary tastings. Billed in March, and no credit issued in May. We joined the wine club, AND bought a case of wine. No other vineyard ever did that. Communicated with them. Radio silence. I spent over $10k with other vineyards on wine that trip. Cases sent back home. Will never deal with them again !

Yelp
We were planning our trip to Napa and made phone calls to all of the wineries that we were interested in, to make sure that our almost 19 year old son could accompany us to the winery. We wanted to come back to Duckhorn because we love their wine and went to the winery when our son was 14 and they had no problem letting him sit with us while we tasted wine. On that trip, we joined their wine club and have been receiving shipments ever since. My husband spoke with someone at Duckhorn and was told that they usually require guest to be 21, but that our son could sit with us this time. When we arrived, the very rude girl at the front desk told us that our son was not allowed to sit with us or even be in the area where we would be tasting, but he could sit in the front of the place, in the gift shop, for an hour, by himself. We were on a family vacation so I was not going to let him sit by himself. We went to 6 wineries total on our trip to Napa and at every one of them, the people that work there were warm and welcoming. Duckhorn was none of those things. It is not a law to not let someone under 21 sit at a table for an hour. It was just what Duckhorn decided to do. I understand not wanting small children running around, but my son is almost 19 years old and they were OK with him joining us 5 years ago. It makes no sense. I left with my son and my husband was told by another very rude person that they don't allow anyone under 21 to be there. I wish the person on the phone would have told us that, because we wouldn't have wasted our time. We have since cancelled our membership. We went to some amazing wineries and will be enjoying their wines now.

Yelp
Location is amazing, but be careful.....they ship wine in 100 degree heat with no overnight shipping! Bad customer service....Canceled my membership!!

Yelp
This was the 2nd stop of the wine tasting day. Figured a charcuterie board would be nice to break up some of the wine. It was a really good charcuterie board, There's a guava jam and it's sooo good with brie! Found a new favorite jam. Duckhorn wines are really good, so you can't really go wrong with coming here. We did an outdoor tasting and it's almost as if you are sitting on your porch, drinking wine. It was really causal, nice, and relaxing. Love that they ask you if you want to try something else and they are more than happy to give you a pour or whatever you'd like, Shout out to Luis who listened to what our likes are, and came back with some recommendations on what they have open and if we would like to try it.

Yelp
Me and a couple of girlfriends went to Napa for a long weekend and we LOVED duckhorn! Tyler was our host and he made the experience so enjoyable and fun for us. The wines were absolutely delicious and the tasting room was beautiful but it was really Tyler that made it one of our favorite stops. We will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Miguel is the BEST. We felt like family. He was genuinely the greatest guide we have ever had in Napa. He shared his family connection and history to the Napa Valley. Our tasting at Duckhorn was phenomenal. We never felt like We were sold to. Anyone who comes to Duckhorn should suggest Miguel!! We will BE BACK!!

Yelp
On our day trip to Napa we went to three vineyards.. all of them were very good. Duckhorn Vineyards, ironically, was the label our family was most familiar with and most excited to visit, but comparably it was our least favorite of the three. HOWEVER, don't confuse "least favorite" with "not good"... we still had a good experience here. The property is gorgeous!! I wish we had more time to roam around the gardens (had to get to the next stop!) and sitting out on the patio was perfect ambiance. We were greeted with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, escorted to our table and where water and breadsticks were awaiting. Our host was Chris! I really enjoyed hearing his stories and the interesting details about the winemakers and the Duckhorn label. He was very pleasant, friendly and personable. We ended up with way more wine than the tasting menu said. Chris gave us a sneak peek into their Rosé (yummy!) as well as a sample of their Pinot Noir. At one point, another person came out with a glass of red "to keep your glasses full while you wait". Very much worth the tasting price! At the end of the day, this 3-star is palette driven, as a family, we just surpassingly preferred the wines at the other two locations we went to. This was also the only site that didn't do any kind of walk around tour, which I loved about the other places. But if you love Duckhorn and aren't super interested in the "how" of winemaking or any behind-the-scenes stuff, this could be for you!
