Ducky's Pizza and Tavern - Review - Montrose - Houston - The Infatuation

"TheDucky McShweeney’s Irish Pubcrew have quietly transformed the recently closed Riel space in Montrose into a casual spot with dart boards, a bargain hunter's happy hour, and a kitchen open until 1:30am. Expect cheesy and foldable New York-style pizza with toppings like al pastor pork and pineapple with salsa verde ranch—plus pastas, wings, cocktails, and carrot cake with whipped mascarpone and cream cheese frosting for dessert." - Brooke Viggiano

Google
A nice, casual spot for drinks and pizza. Nice looking bar program, I opted for the Hot Rod which was like an Old Fashioned and a moscow mule, a very good wintery drink. I tried the crab rangoon appetizer which was great, like a crab rangoon calzone. My pizza however was undercooked with not a lick of browning on top, almost undercooked. I'll be sure to ask for a well done pizza next time. Crust was really good, toppings and the overall pizza were acceptable. Our server and bartender were both attentive and responsive to questions. This place was clean with a welcoming atmosphere.

First time to Ducky’s to watch football. Great atmosphere. I was told that the wings with the Asian sauce was a must and it did not disappoint. The pizza selection was robust. I got the truffled fries and it was amazing. There was enough big TV screens to watch different games. My server Laurel was attentive and gave great service. Great edition to the neighborhood. They have 2 dart boards and lounge furniture to vibe out at if you don’t want to sit at a table. They have a collection of table games that you can grab to enjoy with friends. The bar is cute with a large TV screen to enjoy games.

Duckys is great. The environment is on point for what I was looking for. My wife had the truffle fries and said they were great. As you can see they're gone! I just wasn't impressed with the pizza. I personally like zestier sauce and zestier toppings. The service was phenomenal during my wait. I couldn't have asked to have been treated better by the lady that was handling my to go order. I'd definitely return and try something new on the menu!

This place is going to be a problem for your local favorites. The pizzas are unique, one may say, specialty pizzas. The angry meatball was perfect. Full of bold flavors, pairs well with a draft. The Al pastor was nice and light. It could use more meat.

Great new addition to the neighborhood. We enjoyed excellent bbq brisket pizza with a crispy thin crust and fresh Tuscan salad. The cheesy rangoon crab stuffed bread was also delicious. The atmosphere is warm and friendly with a full bar at one end and some dart boards at the other. There are a few tables outside and some large tvs inside for sports. Plenty of free parking in back. Highly recommend!

We ordered the Quack Attack crispy chicken sandwich and Kobe Burger, both come with fries. We decided to split them so we could both try them out and I am so glad we did. They were both delicious and the fries were perfectly salted. I was surprised at the two layers of crispy chicken. The ranch sauce really is a great flavor add. I will definitely be back! I placed the order for pick-up over the phone and the staff were friendly over phone and in-person. They have various seating options inside and some tables outside. There are 3 gigantic tvs on a wall by the bar where there are high tables. I can see this easily becoming a fun, neighborhood place to go watch a game. There is parking in the front off Fairview and a bigger lot in the back, which is unusual for neighborhood places around here. Based on the reviews, I may have to splurge next time and try a pizza!

My friend and I went on NYE. The staff were all nice and took care of us. I ordered the Ultimate Pepperoni, it was yummy. No fountain drinks, they give you a can soda. A very chill atmosphere. They have multiple TVs and two dart boards.

This is such a cute place. Went a few days ago with friends. Hostess was welcoming when we came in. Loved the decor and ambiance. Alex was our waiter and he was amazing. Very knowledgeable of the menu, kept checking on us, and always approached with a smile. Thank you Alex!

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time on Friday night & I could appreciate the warm & cozy atmosphere! We had the crab rangoon cheesy bread, the angry meatball & montrose pizza. Everything was very good! But what stood out to us the most was the service. Heidi was extremely nice, informative & attentive. Will def be coming back! :)

Yelp
Great reviews but damn my wait time for food was long , it was not busy at all when I arrived ordered wings and pizza the wings came out first about 10 minutes but the pizza took about 30 min not sure why . I will say whoever is cooking sent me over an order of some kinda bread thing as a courtesy due to me still waiting on food . I was alone and only 3 people at the bar when I arrived . The service was quick easy to order and ambiance nice and chill this place is cool very good chill spot, the bar area is great multiple tvs available for games . Once I finally got my food the table next to me got there pizza faster than I got mine I don't know if maybe cuz I was alone and they came in being a group of 4 but I observed the time . Overall my pizza was great very fresh I got the hot honey pepperoni all its missing is some jalapeños . The wings were good I tried the Tequila pineapple definitely different they have no spice if you want them spicy get another flavor . Pizza had a lot of hot honey and very well made to me like I said it's just missing some jalapeños. Overall food great ambiance great cool vibe but my personal wait experience terrible for my pizza. Highly recommend to stop by and try the food here the wait isn't always like that I'm sure. I will say at the end the waitress did apologize for the long wait and did say normally it doesn't take that long not sure what happened today. The food is great . Manager made sure I was taken care of before I left and that's appreciated.

Yelp
Ducky's is soooo cute! Love the retro feel and you're greeted by a cozy atmosphere the second you walk in. There are a couple sections that have couches and TVs and even some bar seating - seems like it would be a good spot to come watch a game. We ordered the crab rangoon cheesy bread to start and it's an absolute MUST order, so unique and delicious. For our mains I got the meatlovers pizza and my friend got the duck egg carbonara. Everything was good but they brought our food out in a really strange order: carbonara first, then pizza, and then finally followed by the cheesy bread. My friend had to awkwardly decide whether to wait until I had something to eat or go ahead and eat her main dish. Staff was all very friendly and checked on us throughout our meal. We'll definitely be back as food was tasty and I think they're probably just working through some of the timing as they're new!

Yelp
Everyday I walk the neighborhood and I watched Ducky's come to life. I even saw the window painter hand draw the Peanuts characters on the window. Can't wait to see other seasonal holiday art. The service is great. Staff checks on you and get you everything you need. I opted for patio seating since I walked over with my dog. Bacon Spinach Dip - the chips were crunch. had a bite. doesn't break when you scoop. the spinach dip was surprisingly delicious. Had to ask for extra chips cause no dip goes to waste. Hot Honey Pepperoni - the pepperoni had crispy and cruncy edges and cupped a good amount of grease. It's not too floppy and not too crunchy. Pizza had a great structure. If you fold, you fold. If you just hold it, it stays and keeps it's shape. Great pizza. Can't go wrong with a classic hot honey taste either. Perfect pairing. Carrot Cake - This literally tasted like fall. caramel drizzle on top had this caramel apple taste to it that just made it even better Key Lime Pie - it almost had a cheesed cake consistency that I love. a lil thicker than usual but loved it nonetheless. I'm looking forward to coming back to try other items. Neighborhood pizza tavern that's kid friendly, dog friendly (tables outside) with great food and service.

Yelp
Sorry to be a downer on this one. To preface, maybe they're still new and want to make an impression on the service but the hovering is just too much!! We went in on a weekday around 5 and not 1, not 2, but 3 staff members asked for our drink order all within a matter of couple of minutes, one on top of another. It's not like they couldn't see we've been greeted and given menus already and we're taking our time to look over the menus. So that made it kinda awkward and stressful for me. We finally decided on some apps (wings) and beers and they did came quickly, and wings were good and fresh (5 wings for $13). Pizza came, and I did see the kitchen staff tossing the dough so I knew everything was freshly made, and I have to say it was average at best (your mileage may vary) and I really was sorely disappointed bc I was hoping this could become our neighborhood "Cheers" kind of hangout. A few days later I had takeout pizza from Pizaro's and no contest even when the Pizaro was takeout and ducky's was fine-in, Pizaro's won by far (again your mileage may vary as pizza is such a personal thing). Sadly, Ducky's is not for me.

Yelp
Amazing experience from start to finish! My girlfriend and I had such an incredible time at Ducky's Pizza and Tavern. From the moment we walked in, we loved the building and the overall vibe, it felt welcoming, cozy, and full of character. The food was absolutely amazing, but our favorite by far was the meatballs, seriously some of the best we've ever had!! Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. On top of that, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely taken care of without being overbearing. This place made for a perfect date night, and we'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend if you're looking for great food, great vibes, and great service!

Yelp
Why do you need my phone number? This was our second time trying Ducky's. The first time we came, we really enjoyed the food and drinks. This time, we rolled up at around 8 or 9 PM on a Thursday. We had no trouble finding parking in their lot. There were people in the restaurant but plenty of open tables. We told the hostess we wanted to sit in the bar area and she said, no problem, there's no wait. But then she asked for a phone number. We patted our pockets and realized that both of us had left our phones at home. Our phones are small devices used for communication, they're not giant entertainment devices like iPhones, so it's not unusual for us to leave them behind. We told the hostess we didn't bring our phones, and she still asked for a phone number even though she was going to seat us immediately. We tried again, in case she didn't hear us over the noise, but she still demanded a phone number. We said, we'll try again some other time, and walked out. We went to Nonno's, where we were greeted as returnees and seated without a fuss, and no one demanded our deets. Ducky's, do better. You don't need my phone number.

Yelp
The pizzas are really good. We have been ordering in every Friday for the past 3 weeks. Pasta not so much, not quite a fan

Yelp
It was my first time at this restaurant and I absolutely loved it! The food was amazing -- everything was full of flavor and fresh. Our waiter was super nice and made the experience even better. I can't wait to go back! The place was cozy, welcoming, and perfect to relax and enjoy a nice meal!

Yelp
Anything less than a 5 is personally offensive. I live in Katy and this will be a regular visit. Absurd food and absurdly good service!

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by on a Sunday and we were greeted right away. They asked us to find a table that we preferred. Right away our waitress came over to our table and took our drink requests. She was so nice and attentive. I wish I could remember her name. The place was very chill, they had a fire music playlist that day lol I was like okkayy! Lol. We had the regular pepperoni pizza and yum!! We loved it. I loved the crust. My favorite part. The drinks are really good too! I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Good service. Friendly etc. Nice people. Good tv action.... I like everything about this place but.... They need tables where the dart area is. Need more 2 and 4 top tables - move them out if someone actually wants to play darts but srsly ... Red Lion and Rudyards (Kenalleys and Phoenix too) has a long head start on you for darts. So. Ditch that idea and make more tables available that aren't high tops or couches. Also, we got the honey pepperoni pizza. Nothing "amazing". Some slices only had 2.5 or 3 on. Ok price at $18. But Appetizers and non pizza items looked better coming out of the kitchen. Will try some non pizza items next time. Keep improving please.

Yelp
Was driving by saw they were open and popped in. Super friendly staff and interesting pizza options. Seeing as we were first timers we decided to base line them with a cheese pizza and they nailed it!!! Thin crust was totally on point and the crust tasted great. Pizza sauce was very flavorful and not over applied. Definitely going into the rotation and can't wait to explore more of the pizza menu!!!

Yelp
Great environment, cozy modern tavern vibes. Got The Montrose pie and penne alla vodka. Good pizza crust - lovely crisp/fluff ratio. Not too thick, not too thin. Balsamic glaze was a bit on the sweet side. Pasta portion size had me wanting more (maybe cause we ordered takeout), but really liked the Italian sausage. Will definitely try again!

Yelp
Great neighborhood pizza tavern... wings and Tuscan salad were great as well. Many large TVs well positioned to watch your favorite team!

Lauren P.

Yelp
This is the only place I'll watch football with my boyfriend anymore. A sports bar/restaurant combo- Ducky's nailed the perfect setting that makes me feel like I'm watching a game from my own living room. They have tons of TVs, a fantastic and affordable food menu, and great music in the background. An even bigger bonus is their gluten free pizza crust is fantastic. We love their wings and crab Rangoon bread too. Don't sleep on the bar program!!! They are not here to play. As someone with a picky cocktail palate... Ducky's is a sneaky and creative yet affordable surprise. We've gone almost weekly since they opened and the same servers have been so lovely. It's been a fantastic addition to our neighborhood.

Yelp
besides the fact that everything here is amazing, please don't leave without trying the crab rangoon cheesy bread. my life has been changed in the best way possible ever since. 100000/10. can't wait to come back

Yelp
This place is great! Cool vibe and great food. The crab rangoon was amazing! The staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be going back.

Yelp
A great neighborhood spot in walking distance, their menu has a good variety of pizza and appetizers. The crab rangoon bread was delicious and the hot honey pepperoni pizza was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive, and the interior was cozy and warm. I would come back.

Douglas M.

Yelp
The Asian sticky wings were phenomenal. The place has a nice, comfortable layout, and pizza portions are generous.

Jessica L.

Yelp
We got the buffalo chicken pizza and it was phenomenal! The service was also great and we loved the ambiance and comfortable seating options

Kirby R.

Yelp
An excellent neighborhood pizza tavern. Very kid friendly with the couches. Service was wonderful. Food is delicious. TVs on with a bunch of games. We will be back often.

Yelp
Ordered a pizza and thought it was a little dry especially since it was the double cheese and pepperoni. Asked the waitress later if I had ordered the wrong pizza and she looked at it and said no they just forgot to put the cheese on the pizza. I'm sorry and she walked off. There was no offer to not charge or maybe a card for a future order. Not sure this is a place I'd go back to.
