We recently tried Due’ Cucina in Capitol Hill, and the whole setup felt more like a fast food joint than a sit-down Italian restaurant. You order through a kiosk, pick up your food yourself, grab your own cutlery and water, and are expected to return your dishes afterward. It’s efficient, but definitely lacks the warmth and service you’d typically expect from an Italian place.
The menu is limited, and portion sizes are smaller than what you’d find at similar spots. My husband ordered the traditional Bolognese ragu, which was unfortunately borderline raw and tough to chew. I went with the mushroom and white truffle oil pasta—it was okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. We also shared a tiramisu, and again, it was just okay—we’ve had much better elsewhere.
Overall, not too excited to go back. The fast-food vibe and underwhelming food made it a one-time experience for us.
