"Overlooking the St. Lawrence River, the Terrasse Dufferin (Dufferin Terrace) runs along the top of a cliff, some 200 feet above the Lower Town, and is presided over by the grande dame hotel Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. The terrace was constructed in 1879 and is named after Lord Dufferin, governor-general of Canada from 1872 to 1878, who is credited with saving the old city walls after zealous city planners began to tear them down. The terrace is some 1,400 feet long and makes for a pleasant place to stroll, or sit, if you are visiting Quebec City on a sunny day. The funicular thatdescends to the Lower Town is found at the northern end of the terrace, near a statue of Samuel de Champlain."

I would highly recommend this tour. You can do it self guided, but it is worth the $12 fee for a guided tour so you can learn more about the history. Our tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable.

A beautiful boardwalk starting from Château Frontenac to the Citadelle. It was built in 1879 by the Marquess of Dufferin, then Governor General of Canada. There are 6 gazebos - Frontenac, Lorne, Princess Louise, Victoria, Dufferin, and Plessis. In the winter, there is a toboggan ride dating back to 1884 which still runs today. From the boardwalk, there are spectacular views of the St. Lawrence. A perfect place to bring families and friends for a relaxing and enjoyable day.

You can park near the fairmont hotel for a sneaky pic. Just be careful of parking officers. Views are incredible here and its a great place for couples to have a stroll with the view of the city. You may be able to get free parking on some side streets after 9pm

An absolute treat to see. Extensively large so you can really get a great view everywhere. The panorama from the Chateau on the left to the river docks on the right makes for a great stop all around.
