Duffy's is one of those places where you really should go in knowing what to expect, as it's a sports bar, much like a Flanigan's, Miller's, Houlihan's or Bennigan's. The quality is about what you'd expect from Chili's, or even slightly lower. They have a 2-for-1 drink special, but when your draft beer is $10 a pint (versus $5-6 at a lot of other places), that feels like a ploy to make you *think* you're getting value; it almost feels insulting to one's intelligence.
I made the mistake of ordering an off-menu, but very basic, cocktail that every bartender should know. Ordering it proved difficult, and when it arrived it was not correctly made. Stick to beer or drinks on the menu when you're here.
The food itself was very mediocre. The kids meals went over well, but were just fried finger foods. I had the island tacos which came as one big chunk of fish in cold, slightly stale, flour tortillas. The garnish was sparse, mostly due to limited space in the tiny tortilla, and it was fairly well drenched in "sriracha aioli" that just seemed like semi-spicy mayonnaise. The chips were very greasy, flour tortilla chips (not corn), and the salsa was mostly water. My partner's salad was kind of sad as well, and she remarked that it wasn't any better than something from a bag at home, just with a chunk of fish dropped on top.
Service salvaged a third star for this review. It wasn't great, but the server was pretty new, seemed a little nervous, and tried hard. Food service isn't easy work, so I was happy that they were making good effort.
Personally, for the price, I don't see value in eating here, and I won't be returning. There are many better places to eat out there.
