This little bar is awesome!!! It was right down the street from our Airbnb. It was recommended by the host. We stopped to get an adult beverage before the Colts vs Dolphins game. They had a breakfast sandwich and a yogurt parfait as the 2 breakfast options. Both hit the spot and were so good!! The bartender was super friendly and since we had never been there before told us how they do things on game days. They have a huge patio and outside seating area and it filled up pretty quick before the game. It's about a 20 min walk from the Dugout to Lucas Oil Stadium. We love these types of bars and the Dugout didn't disappoint.

Google
We stopped by here on a biking trip. I would love to come back here for dinner some time with my wife. We got a quick lunch then headed back out. We found a great, shaded table and relaxed with a large pitcher of ice water. My only complaint is that there were few shaded options.

Google
Have you been here? You should come! Awesome outdoor seating area, friendly staff, and amazing drink prices! Inside is bigger than it appears from the outside. Bathrooms are clean, and even smell that way. Brooke and Daniel are fantastic! I decided to order the pulled pork pizza to go, and it was super tasty! Do yourself a favor and stop in. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Google
Very good bar food, sandwiches, burgers, chili. Plenty of cold beer and other beverage choices. Multiple eating areas means plenty of seating options including a sizable outdoor area. Our server was pleasant and efficient, getting us whatever we needed. Prices are reasonable. I noted the restaurant to always be busy, but never overcrowded.

Google
First time going here. Went out Thursday evening and was modestly busy with more people coming in as we ate here. Didn't see inside so can't offer a review for that area of the Dugout Bar. My wife, dogs, and I sat outside to eat. Plenty of outdoor seating in a wide space with umbrellas for shade. Also, looked like there was an area for bands to play. Staff and nearby patrons were super cool to our dogs. My wife and I had a soda and split a couple of chili dogs and fries. Absolutely delicious and just the right amount. Our server was really cool, attentive, and provides good service.

Google
A True Hidden Gem in Indy! The Dugout Bar is everything you want in a neighborhood spot — laid-back, welcoming, and full of character. From the moment you walk in, you feel like a regular. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between casual and lively. The food is all delicious, but the pizza, cheese curds, and pork nachos are legit. 100% recommended!! Great beer selection too, with plenty of local options on tap. It’s the kind of place where you can watch a game, catch up with friends, or just unwind after a long day. Whether you're a local or just passing through, The Dugout is 100% worth a stop. Can’t wait to go back! Great indoor quaint bar area, revised newer sections where they have bands, and an outdoor section where they entertain with bands and TV’s as well. It’s got everything you could possibly want in a restaurant/bar.

Google
This is one of my favorite local spots. The food is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. All prices are very reasonable and the staff is on top of everything. During the summer they have live music and it's a great place to watch a Pacers, Fever or Colts game. There are TV's on every wall and during the winter they have an indoor stage for music as well. This place has grown from a small hole in the wall bar to one of the most important in the city.

Google
Hitting a Grand Slam at Indy's #1 Dive Bar! Step up to the plate, folks, because I've found a real winner: The Dugout Bar in Indianapolis. Voted the city's #1 dive bar, this place is steeped in history and flavor, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the history. You can almost hear the crack of the bat from Jack Wagner's legendary softball teams back in the 50s and 60s. This isn't just some bar that popped up overnight; it's a genuine piece of Indy history that's been serving up good times since 1954. The new owners, Nick and Layton, are doing a fantastic job carrying the torch into a new era. Let's get to the food, because, wow! I'd heard whispers about the mushrooms, and they did not disappoint. We're talking fresh, perfectly fried mushrooms in a batter so light and crispy it practically floats. And the horseradish sauce? Simply divine. It's the kind of sauce you'll be thinking about days later. The tater tots were golden and perfectly crisp, and the burger was a solid, satisfying classic. To top it all off, our server was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. One of the best parts is the fantastic outdoor area. It’s the perfect spot to kick back with friends, enjoy the weather, and chow down on some seriously good bar food. If you're looking for an authentic spot with a rich past, a great vibe, affordable prices, and food that knocks it out of the park, The Dugout is your place. It's more than just a bar; it's an Indianapolis institution.

Reema B.

Yelp
This is a review mainly for our incredible server, Delaney. I cannot express how well she handled our large party with such kindness and ease. We had several checks and she was unbelievably understanding and efficient about them. I can't say thank you enough and I truly hope y'all see this and give her the recognition and $ she deserves! The food was wonderful but her service is what we'll remember!

Ryan B.

Yelp
This is a bar we've patroned several times and enjoyed. When we tried to enter the bar the bouncer (who claimed to be named Peter) rudely yelled at us to leave. We politely asked if we could enter since our friends had just entered and he yelled at us to leave. Then he told my wife to "have a good life" which was incredibly rude and insulting. We never said a single rude thing to him and would have completely understood if the bar was at capacity. We won't be going back.

Yelp
This is a typical, not quite a dive bar, but the cheapest and best bar in Fountain Square that I have found. They have added a huge outside patio a new indoor bar room and of course they have the old bar room still in use. we took our son daughter and her friend There for dinner. The wife and I split the breaded tenderloin. It was vey good but not big. My son had the chili and grilled cheese of which he gave me the chili and it was really good could've been a little more spicy for me, but it was still good (I would get it again) My daughter had the house salad which was huge and she said delicious and her friend had a Pizza, which he had no comments on. We will definitely go back because this is the cheapest place to eat, drink beer and alcohol in fountain Square.

Yelp
Classic Virginia Avenue bar. Live music. Great service. Solid food. Perfect location. Lots of outdoor seating. You can sit in the new side and play trivia or sit in the old side and talk to a local drunk. Pretty much always come here prior to going to the Hifi. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Dugout has long been on my list of bars to try but I never got the opportunity to until this Friday while trying to post up for the Purdue game. Drink specials are phenomenal, $9 pitchers of either Yuengling or Miller Lite is a steal. The bar food is pretty decent as well so if you get hungry I recommend the pizza as it too is reasonably priced. Overall this is a top spot to watch sports, no shortage of tvs and room to post up. Obviously you don't want to show up too close to tipoff because it will be standing room only.
google avatar

Yelp
My daughter and I stopped in for a quick beer/drink and a snack as we were hanging out and tooling around downtown. We sat at the bar. I heard they had decent food but I didn't order anything. The atmosphere was pleasant enough. We didn't go outside because of the weather. The bartender was not really personable and completely mindful. She was just there. We didn't stay long.

Yelp
Dugout is one of our favorites spots & after last nights visit- the mozzarella sticks alone deserve a 5 star review. We went for the Pacers Playoff game 6, place was packed, but service was excellent. Drinks were strong, the food was even better. They had mozzarella sticks as a special which are my kryptonite. I wish I would've gotten a photo of the cheese pull...it was the best pull I've seen and the best mozzarella sticks. The live music was also great which ended as the game started.

Yelp
Best BLT, I ate in a while. Had Big Thick Beacon and Cooked just Right. What More could You ask For
google avatar

Haleigh P.

Yelp
Always love coming here. They have the best patio section in downtown Indy. For the outside patio. They now have clear signage of areas that are outside with weight staff versus outside areas. Where you can Serve yourself. They will start to have live music outside here soon once the weather warms up. Today I got the fried ravioli to share with a friend and a 7 inch personal pan pizza. The small personal size is a perfect amount for one person. Pro tip: if you want a little spice, you should ask for jalapeños on the side. It seems to be less spicy, then having them piled and baked into your pizza. The pizza shown in the pictures is chicken, bacon, onions, and green peppers .

Yelp
Great atmosphere of there was a crowd. Love they have steel darts. Their markers never work. (Bring your own). I understand it is a late night bar so will try to check it out then. Evening is good. Games and bartenders are great
google avatar

Angi H.

Yelp
The dude with the mustache is awesome. People come in, know what they want and he serves them. Folks that don't know what they want? They wait. Simple. What morons!
google avatar

Alea S.

Yelp
The patio alone is enough to make me go to the Dugout Bar! Big enough for all your needs. It is a self-seating type of place with delish food and face service. We got our food just 10 minutes after ordering even though there were large parties all around us. I'll definitely be back
google avatar

Mollie Z.

Yelp
This is my go-to casual/dive bar! The location is great and there's plenty of space both inside and out. I especially love their large patio in the warmer months when they often have live music on the stage outside. They food is surprisingly tasty for your classic bar food. Will visit again and again!
google avatar

Mikaela L.

Yelp
Fried mushrooms, chicken tender, and fries are good! Went here after bingo night with friends. It's pet friendly the service is quick and has nice staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Dugout bar is the best local bar around. Definitely getting more popular but still a great neighborhood bar. PBR is only $3 here. Mixed drinks ring around 5. Their chicken basket is incredible. Always a hit. The Caesar wrap is my favorite item- can't beat it. We always have great service. Our waitress has taken the time to know our order by heart whenever we come. Just overall GREAT place!

Gavin E.

Yelp
Good food and great atmosphere for enjoying watching a game day with friends and live music outside!

Megan W.

Yelp
Great place to catch the games! The energy is pretty tame tonight but that is likely because we are down 14 at the moment. Would be even better if the jackasses sitting at the table right in front of the big screen didn't think this was their personal living room. Literally blocking the view with their big heads for all the other people sitting behind them.
google avatar

Billy B.

Yelp
Why do bartenders who work for tips blatantly ignore you when you're standing there ? And then overcharge you?
google avatar

Hannah J.

Yelp
One of my favorite bars in Indy! This place is so fun. The outdoor seating is incredible with lots of tables - some with umbrellas, picnic tables, etc. The area can accommodate large or small groups. There is sometimes live music outside! There is a more limited bar you can access right off the patio or you can go inside to two of the full bars. The inside is a more divey vibe that I love. So I like coming here even in the cold weather when you're less likely to enjoy the patio. The food here is so good! The pepper Jack cheese balls are a must. Also can't go wrong with the quesadilla or chicken tenders and fries.

Traci J.

Yelp
Great food! Loved the Tenderloin sandwich and also loved the fried Mushroom appetizer. Boyfriend said his wings were excellent. Ate at the bar and the bartender Stan was very attentive and only top of his game! Great casual feeling to the place, and they welcome everyone.
google avatar

Gretchen R.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in town to relax and grab a bite to eat. Also my favorite spot for trivia. My go to good items are the fried chicken salad, the chicken tenders, and the fried ravioli. The chicken tenders are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The ambiance is awesome with one side being more updated and modern and the other side giving you a quintessential dive bar atmosphere. The people who work there are always pleasant even when it is super busy.

Yelp
Had lunch at Dugout today Ambience is very chill. On a day that's grey and cloudy. It made us feel good. The bar was extremely clean. Everything from the windows, to the bar, to the table top. The bathrooms were also especially clean. We ordered the special. It was a beef steak. I'm telling you what, whatever they did to the Ajou was by far the best i've ever had in my life. I prefer salty, but it was more garlic. I can't indicate enough how much flavor there was. When looking back at her bill, it wasn't absolute treat for the value. Service was impeccable. Our bartender made sure she was in contact every one minute. I'm telling you what, she was so good. It felt great walking out. She really made sure that she was a tentative and there if we needed anything. We never waited more than a minute to be serviced. That's a testimony to the culture at the Dugout bar.
google avatar

Kim K.

Yelp
With the improvements to the patio area and indoor space, the Dugout become a neighborhood hit. They've created a great venue for live music on their patio and have an indoor stage when needed. The servers hustle and know their regulars. Enjoyed a beautiful evening Saturday listening to the band and catching up with neighbors.
google avatar

Anvaya B.

Yelp
Fries and Chicken Tenders is all I needed after a 5k run!! Good place for a casual hangout !
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
This bar seems to be the happening place in the neighborhood. I saw that they had a special of chicken sweet chili wrap with a side for $9.95. I asked for the entree without tomato and with onion rings, which were fine. I ordered it to eat outside as there are lots of tables. To my surprise, it was Wed. trivial night. After they played a few rounds, I was able to move to the area with the benches to join in the activity. For some of the categories, as team of one, I know nothing like pets and football. I did well on important facts. It ended up to be a fun (and food) evening.
google avatar

Marty C.

Yelp
The service was timely and the food was prepared well. Great outdoor seating and the vibe was relaxing and conversation friendly. We'll definitely come back to eat again!!
google avatar

Kenny P.

Yelp
I typically get on here to warn people but I got to say, the pizza was really good. The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 instead of a 5 is because this is my first time here. But I like it. That patio is spacious, the food is good. I would've like more local breweries like Triton but I enjoyed my selection.
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
Stoped in after work on a Friday with some coworkers for beer and snacks. We ordered a basket of fries & tots and to drink, several ice cold PBR's. Great place to hang out with excellent service from the bar tenders!
google avatar

Veronica L.

Yelp
It's a big "meh" for me. Came in on a Monday holiday, there were maybe 6 people there. Planned on getting some drinks and a basket of onion rings to snack on. Bartender came over to our table, I asked what they had on tap. She pointed at the taps (probably 20 feet away, and behind a wall in front of me) and said "taps are over there, you can look at them and they're written on a sign". I stood up and peered around the wall. I couldn't read any of the specifics, didn't see any sign, and my husband couldn't either. But I tell the brands of beer based on the tap handles, so we just ordered based on that. She seemed annoyed. I'm not sure what was so difficult about just answering my question, but ok. Based on that interaction, we didn't order any food. I didn't feel welcome and I didn't want to give them any more of my money. Maybe 15 minutes later, some men came and sat at the bar and asked her what was on draft. She rattled the drafts off to them. So that felt extra shitty. I guess there was just something about us she didn't care for. The feeling was mutual after our interaction.
google avatar

Derek C.

Yelp
The Dugout Bar is like two bars in one. It's a dive bar on one side and a modern craft brew pub on the other. The beer selection is great. It's a bit pricy for what is modern dive bar food but the food quality was OK. The food did come out quickly even though the place was packed, so kudos to the kitchen for that.
google avatar

Corey S.

Yelp
The Dugout is a great local bar and staple of Fountain Square. They have great bar food, cheap drinks, and a fun atmosphere! I highly recommend the tater tots, perfectly crispy and delicious every time. There is a very spacious indoor area that has 3 separate areas, great for large groups and there are TVs to catch a game. There is also a huge outdoor area with many tables and it is dog and kid friendly. Last but certainly not least, they often have live music both inside and out!
google avatar

Pierre N.

Yelp
Mid: Fries were mid, not seasoned, loved the crunchiness & color/texture Tenderloin- nice and hot. Chicken Tenders- friends said they were good. Nice and big (pause) very flavorful. Atmosphere- I don't watch Baseball or like live music. The service- no waiters/waitresses major turnoff. Wish someone came up to us to take our order. The bartender was cool, bro was nice lol. Bro gave me some random plates without explanation lol Love the water station lol No desserts kinda give it a 2/5 because of no sweets. Suns in 4, 2024 Champions
google avatar

Lili K.

Yelp
Great server, fun & responsive, sports bar atmosphere, cold beer. Lots of fun and different spaces to hang out and watch the game. Fried bologna sandwich was comforting.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Probably a good place to sit and drink a beer maybe meet someone Poor service average food
google avatar

Sheree W.

Yelp
Cheap drinks, great location, free parking, what more could you ask for? A friend recommended this spot and it was great! The drinks have to be the most reasonable priced drinks in fountain square. The staff was super friendly and they have outdoor seating if you like people watching. I didn't order food just several drinks which were so inexpensive I bought our entire tables drinks!
google avatar

Connor S.

Yelp
A fantastic dive bar! Prices are unbeatable and it's always a good vibe. Servers/staff are always friendly. I highly recommend the pizza, Chicken Tenders, fries, or chili. Weather permitting, the outdoor patio is amazing on spring/summer nights
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
The best bar nachos in Indy! Stan is the man- top tier service! Love the vibes of both the new and old side, depending on the evening. A must visit!
google avatar

Kico T.

Yelp
Love this place, we come in from time to time and enjoy the food, drinks and entertainment. Danny the bartender is great at making us feel at home and provides excellent service.
google avatar

Madison S.

Yelp
Very fun and chill bar! Its much bigger than it looks, so there's a ton of space if you're looking for a good place to watch a sporting event. Even during saint Patrick's day I was able to find a table to share with friends
google avatar

Sarah F.

Yelp
Bars and dive bars, 2 separate categories and the dugout is certainly a dive. But a clean drive! Located in the hipster foodie paradise that is fletcher place you can find this gem. when you walk in there's a longish bar, and on the other side is a bunch of tables with dart boards, TVs and a juke box. Outside of that, it's just your typical bar. Very friendly atmosphere, the waitresses are attentive, and the patrons accommodating to others. Usually a decent selection of music playing as well if a game or the race isn't on. Can't beat the prices! Daily specials, good beer bucket prices. Lots of good fried food a pizza to choose from. You can go with a small or a large group, and of course as I always mention. Enjoy the warm weather while you can in Indianapolis and sit outside, people watch. There's bikers and the scooter riders that add to entertainment as well!

Yelp
Finally checked out the patio at Dugout Bar. The patio itself is quite nice. You have a nice view. Lots of dogs walking past. The furniture on the patio leave something to be desired, but for a hole in the wall bar, it was as expected. The drinks are cheap and strong. The food is typical bar food. We got the pretzel bites and potato skins. They were both ok. Nothing special. All in all, if you are just looking to patio drink, it's worth a stop.
google avatar

Deb T.

Yelp
The dug out is constantly good, service is always friendly and prompt. Food is basic bar food, but quality is very good for the price. The owner is typically on site and runs a very efficient business. The atmosphere is welcoming, similar to a neighborhood cheers bar with lots of friendly locals.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Super cute place with jazz on fridays and friendly waiters. Na beer option: Heineken zero
google avatar

Aaron D.

Yelp
Met a few friends at the Dugout Bar for a lunch meeting. They service and food exceeded my expectations at this restaurant. We all ordered the Blackened Salmon Salad for our lunch and it was a unanimous agreement that it was a fantastic salad. It was cooked well and a generous portion size. They also offer free WiFi which was great since this was a working lunch.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our experience at the Dug Out. Dive bars are one of our favorites and Dug Out didn't disappoint. We walked in the door under the exterior sign and told to seat ourselves! There's basically 3 sections to the bar. The older bar area, middle dining area and the new modern bar area. You enter the older bar area which has a few tall-top tables across from the bar and T.V.'s are located throughout the 3 areas. The dining area is in the next area/room with lower lighting, lots of history on the walls and a decent amount of 4-top tables close together. Two dart bars, jukebox and games are in this area. The new spacious room on the other side of the dining area has a bar, is bright and modern with regular and tall-top tables and has a stage. There is an entrance there as well. Patio seating is just outside this door. The patio is large and a great spot to dine or have drinks. The handicap ramp runs parallel to the patio and the parking lot is just outside this door with access through double doors to the new bar and dining area. This is the entrance you'll want to take if you have mobility issues. Menus are on the tables. The menu has a great selection of bar appetizers you'd expect with nachos, wings, tenders, skins, chili-cheese fries and more. There's Salads, Soups (chili & soup of the day), Wraps, Pizza and Sandwiches (grilled cheese, fried bologna, pulled pork, tenderloin, burger and Cuban). Saturday and Sunday a breakfast buffet is served from 9 -11 for only $7.50. My husband ordered the tender and juicy grilled tenderloin with L,T, P with fries ($1 upcharge). All sandwiches are served with Ruffles. The fries were worth the $1 upcharge with a slightly crisp exterior and soft potato interior. I ordered the Half-Pound Pulled Pork Sandwich in the Green Egg served with pickles and onions and Johnton BBQ sauce. I had onion rings (upcharge of $2.50). The generous amount of pork was tender, the BBQ sauce good and the onions rings were not overcooked. We both enjoyed our dinner and we'd order again. Erin, our server, was attentive and friendly during this loud and fun after Colts game crowd. She even cleared the tables as plates and cups emptied. We found a fun, laid-back atmosphere with good, affordable, bar food that was delivered timely and a friendly server. Check it out!

Alex K.

Yelp
Everything a dive bar should be. Cheap drinks, good food, plenty of seating. Servers and bartenders are amazing. My go to spot in this area to watch a game or play trivia!
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
It looked like a liquor store at first! The pizza and wings were surprisingly good! We got the pepperoni and sausage pizza and buffalo wings with some friends. I would easily visit again. There was also a live band playing that like which was really cool. Will definitely Come again for more pizza and wings. Whiskey was sour was decent. A little heavy on the whiskey (i normally wouldn't complain about this but I'm not 21 anymore and actually want it to taste right vs getting trashed lol) oh! The broad ripple chips were SO good! Get the spicy!
google avatar

Nathan N.

Yelp
Didn't eat the food but the atmosphere and drinking prices were quite acceptable. I would definitely come back for another brew. It was well lit, friendly faces, clean bathrooms, and maneuverable spaces.

Dirk R.

Yelp
The Dugout bar has an outstanding laid-back atmosphere, outstanding food, and cold beer, all at great value. The outdoor patio area is a great space to hang out on a nice day. The owner, Nick, is an awesome guy who continues to make this "Dive Bar" the phun go-to place in Indy. I love their pizza and breaded mushrooms.
