A Review of Two New Major British Baking Books | Eater

"A specialist shop in Amsterdam noted as the place where the reviewer located a hard-to-find 10-by-4‑inch loaf pan referenced in a recipe; the shop was unavailable for UK shipping according to the reviewer’s account." - Rachel P. Kreiter

Fantastic experience. I took our Eureka Mignon grinder for quick check up because grinding setting was not working properly. Not only did they fix it on the spot in 5 minutes but also explained the issue carefully so next time I’d know how to prevent or spot and fix the issue.

I can't believe I have not reviewed this shop before. I've been coming here over 30 years. Originally Australian, owner business in Amsterdam .... cafe catering. This shop is amazing. Definitely one of the best of its kind in the world. Service is always impeccable. They literally have everything. So go there check it out enjoy and whatever you buy know that you have a good follow-up from these people.

Duikelman has all the things. There is a superlative knife section, with a lot of small service knives, sharpeners, cutting boards and knives from utilitarian to super fancy Japanese knives. I love their selection of pans. The personnel is friendly and very knowledgeable.

Whilst doing a stage at a Michelin starred restaurant in the city, I was lucky enough to be introduced to this incredible shop. When I say they have everything and more, I mean it. Wouter is a fantastic human and incredibly knowledgeable, a true expert. There is no better shop I have been to, short and simple.

Amazing place for cooks and bakers, great variety. A bit pricy but worth the experience. There are two shops, on each side of the street.

I bought a knife, but I realized it was visibly bent. I went back to the store to ask for a replacement and was told I would be contacted by Wednesday. No one ever called me back, and I felt completely ignored. This kind of treatment is unacceptable for someone who pays for a quality product. I’m very disappointed.

Superb kitchenware store selling every trinket possible, including some cooking ingredients such as agar agar. I found the speculoos / speculaas molds I was looking after from the baking section.

Normally, I love shopping at Duikelman—it’s usually a highlight of my errands. But this time, I had a less-than-stellar experience. I stopped by to grab a gift voucher, and the sales assistant—a lady with light brown hair—wrapped it up for me. Unfortunately, she also wrapped up the transaction with a look that said, “You’re not exactly my favorite customer today.” I get it, I wasn’t dressed to impress (errands don’t exactly come with a red carpet), but being looked at like I’m a piece of something scraped off a shoe wasn’t quite what I expected. Here’s hoping for a little more kindness next time—shopping should be fun, not a fashion show!
