"For Burien’s lone Ethiopian restaurant, it is no wonder no one else has tried to come along and rival them. One distinguishing feature that sets this place apart from the more standard fare in places like Rainier Beach is that Dukem offers a variety of lesser-known Ethiopian dishes, like kitfo, which is a raw beef with spiced butter very much a la beef tartare but spicier. It’s the place to go if you want to try Ethiopian dishes that are a little more off the beaten path. And don’t forget to make time to visit their attached market." - Laura LeMoon

The food is a hard five stars. Really, really tasty stuff here, prepared with heart. And get the coffee, it doesn't get any better than this! Service was polite and friendly and understood our purpose of experiencing Ethiopian cuisine to make food recommendations for different flavors. All smiles. It's a few tables in a market, not at all fancy. So glad to be here, and really... Get. The. Coffee.

Best bang for buck. Almost impossible to find an inexpensive place to eat in Seattle! Enough food to feed 4 hungry people. We ordered the veggie combo $19 and the lamb $24. The food was delicious 🤤. In the veggie combo there wasn’t my favorites dish, atakilt wat, the cabbage carrot dish but the other sides made up for it! The lamb was juicy and plentiful. Unfortunately out of sambusa :( We went at 5 pm on our way back home from a road trip and stopped here. Food took long, I’m thinking because we were there to eat at an odd time. Worth the wait. Service is smiling and friendly. You could browse the store in the meantime. Saw some good olive oil from Palestine that caught my eye. It’s a homey restaurant. Music was a little loud with a bass that you can ask to turn down. One restroom that wasn’t exactly clean and could do with a quick clean.

The people here are so kind and the food is reasonably priced and very good. It was at my table quite quickly. I recently moved to this area and have just begun my search for Ethiopian food here. My all-time favorite in Colorado (Ras Kassa’s) set a very high bar… Dukem IS good, just a bit small & stuffy & meat-centric.

Ordered the lamb combination plate to go. Fresh injera and even though our food took a bit to come out it was definitely worth it. It was absolutely delicious and the lady helping us was so sweet. I will always come back.

Ordered the meat and veggie plate the food was really good. It was my first time eating Ethiopian food. But the service was not great. It took my order very very long to get to me and it seem like staff was a bit disorganized. Price was fair and portions where large.

I love this place, I come here for lunch takeout and their sambusas! The food is great and you get a lot and I love the sambusas, they have beans and ginger and spices inside and are cheap and filling. What I love too is how friendly they are, every time I go in there no matter who is at the counter they are so nice and friendly!! One time I was squeezed for time and he promised to get my order quicker and they did. Great people, great food!

Excellent, authentic Ethiopian food. We had tibs, mild and spicy. Both were wonderfully seasoned. Great atmosphere, excellent customer service. Extremely attentive.

OMG! How is this place not get any more 5 star reviews?! We wanted to try a new cuisine and ended up finding this mom and pop restaurant/market. The people here are so friendly (the cook even came out with our food) and recommended us to eat the lamb w/3 veggies combo (1 order was enough to feed 2 people). First time eating Ethiopian food and this place did not disappoint! Will come back again if we're in Burien! Definitely an authentic place!!!
