Duke’s Barefoot Bar Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Don’t come to Duke’s feeling too serious. This is a kitschy Hawaii-themed restaurant on PCH overlooking the ocean, where surfboards, historical timelines, and vintage surfing videos on TVs line the wood-paneled walls. And we love it. Mostly because it’s very much a local hang. Come any evening and you’ll find a bunch of sandy people who clearly take up permanent residence at the bar, which overlooks the unobstructed Pacific. And on Taco Tuesday, the outdoor patio gets particularly packed. The margaritas are contenders for the Best In The City, and pods of dolphins are so close and frequent, it gets old after a while. The food? The tacos, salads, ribs, and burgers are good enough, and that’s just fine with us. photo credit: Kim Fox" - Arden Shore

My wife and I stopped at Duke’s for an afternoon snack. Dionne was our waitress and she greeted us with a big smile and seated us immediately. She recommended the Hazy IPA for me and the hula pie for my wife. The hazy IPA was juicy and a soft mouth feel. Hints of citrus and local fruit. The hula pie was great. Macadamia ice cream, chocolate cookie crust with hot fudge and whipped cream.. Dionne brought us two sporks - perfect for that dessert. My wife had to limit me to 3 bites, it was so good. This was a fun place to relax in the afternoon and enjoy the beautiful view. Don’t forget to give a good tip when you get good service and great food. Tell Dionne you read my review. Thank you Dionne for an enjoyable experience.

Fun atmosphere right on the beach. Very small food menu. The nachos were excellent! The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good. burger was pretty basic. The ice cream hula pie was yum.

Great location. Good service. The food came out cold and underwhelmed. The drinks were under poured.

🍹GOOD OLE DUKES! My wife and I have enjoyed Duke's in Oahu and this Kaua'i location did not disappoint. Located by the a beach it's a really nice atmosphere. The prices are typical for a resort. There are better places for mai tais on Kauai but Duke's Mai tai isn't bad. Their drinks are good and strong. The food is good. This is a much better choice for cocktails and food versus the restaurant / bar at the Royal Sonesta or Marriott Beach Club.

The atmosphere and service is good. A very beautiful location. The fish and chips was the worst we have ever had. It was suuuuper overcooked. The chicken BLT was middle of the road. If your coming don’t expect to be blow away by food but everything else is good.

Atmosphere down stairs is great especially for kids. Our fish tacos were great but ever seemed like small portions including kids menu sides. Great service. We only waited 20 minutes without a reservation to eat downstairs. Nice ambiance down three as well. We parked across the street by the food carts so we wouldn’t have to wait for valet. Gotta get the hula pie! I would like to mention the restrooms are very small downstairs and always had a line. My wife said they were VERY dirty in hopes that someone would clean.

We took a free shuttle from the NCL cruise Ship to this location which took about 5 minutes and another 5 minutes to walk to Kalapaki Beach. Had lunch at Dukes Canoe Club Barefoot Bar while enjoying the breath-taking views of Nawiliwili Kaui. We had the Fish & Chips for lunch. Food and Service was very good. The fish used for the fish and chips is not what were used to but was still good. Not the restaurants' fault. They cook a different fish that is dry and tastes more like chicken than what most Irish Pubs will serve back in the mainland. The Dukes Blonde from Kona Brewing Co. was super delicious.
