If you're going to have knock your socks off prices, you ought to have the food to match. Alas, there was a mismatch between these two. I felt as though the cost of the dishes was not justified considering the quality.
I was able to try the Lobster Mobster chowder and the Halibut special. The Lobster Mobster chowder was very pleasant. The broth had a pleasant, delicate sweetness, good level of savoriness, and was not over salted. On the flip side, the quantity of shrimp and lobster was rather scant. I give this one a "B" for the flavors, but points lost for stinginess.
Then there came the "It's So Dreamy Parmesan Halibut". This one did not wow me on any front. The star of the plate did not seem to receive the star treatment. While cooked nice, and crusted with a thin layer of parmesan/asiago, that was about it. Anything to give the fish even a little bit of flair or oomph was missing. To be fair, there was the lemon-caper butter sauce, which added a little acidity. This sauce would have been a good compliment, but that which it is to compliment was missing.
Where it comes to veggies, I did like the potatoes (who doesn't), thought the others, not so much. The asparagus was devoid of even a proper amount of salt, and the teaspoon of tomato(?) felt like an afterthought. For a small piece of unremarkable fish and some veggies and sauce, $41.90 seems very excessive! I grade this a "C", at best!
The service was kind and unintrusive. Though, at these price levels, it warrants a touch more attentiveness.
