The ingredients are good quality but the flavors were generally rather plain. Probably not worth the price considering how much you get. $20 for a single crab cake, for example. The stuffed prawns were tasty but felt like I was tasting the bread crumbs and cheese not the crab or shrimp. The asparagus was disappointing. It tasted like nothing. Almost like water. The salmon sliders were fine, but the great salmon flavor was masked by the aoli and bread to be honest. View of the water and Mt. Rainer were amazing on a sunny day.

Oh. My. God. What an amazing surprise this place was. I googled “seafood restaurants” from my hotel in Tacoma and it brought me to a beautiful little place on the water called Dukes seafood Tacoma. They started off with some of the best sourdough bread I’ve ever had. Follow that up with “award winning” clam chowder and I was already starting to get full. Then, the waitress brought out my crab stuffed Alaskan halibut fillet. It was beautiful and delicious. Finally, entirely full, my server asked me if I had any room for dessert. When she told me what they had, I absolutely was unable to resist the Marion berry pie à la mode. What I did not know was that it is not a “piece” of pie. It’s about half of a pie topped with two giant scoops of ice cream. It was also absolutely decadent. My only regret was that I could not get through all of it due to being stuffed to the gills from all the other fantastic food. If you were in the Tacoma area, or, as I came to learn after speaking with the staff there, anyone of other seven locations in the Seattle area, be sure to check them out.

A fantastic evening is to be at Dukes. So much everything right, that it’s hard to find the words that aptly fit. We arrived late, and they took us in, with no appearance of gethomeitis. The patio seating makes for a setting that should be experienced by all. The food, service, ambiance, is all top notch. We cannot wait to come back!

Google
Would recommend to anyone who likes Chowder. I had the claim and it was good. The crab cake is the best I have ever eaten. Very little breading just enough to hold it together. The sauce on the side was awesome. Would definitely go back.

Google
We love Duke's calamari and clam chowder. Today, we tried the crab cake and it was SO flavorful. We sat outside and the view was amazing. This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. When the customer service is great, that's a bonus! Even if it is not up to our expectations, we would still visit for the food. But please don't disappoint us when we visit. Not to mention, their drinks and their sourdough bread in basket are amazing! The bread was warm and soft today. :)

Google
Great food! Husband and I dined here in October. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Dessert was sweet without being too heavy. Restaurant overlooks the bay. Our waiter was also top notch, husband and I went onto the deck to take a picture, and she ran out and offered to take one for us. Total sweetheart, not to mention carrying the cutest belly bump. 10/10 would recommend.

Google
We sat outside and the view was amazing! Such a great atmosphere. The food was excellent. The clam chowder in the sour dough bowl is a must. The sour dough bread is soft and flavorful. You really can’t go wrong with anything. The service was fast and friendly.

Google
Dukes is great, especially the Tacoma waterfront location. It is a large, bustling, busy restaurant. The menu offers many options. The grass-fed beef burgers are very good, it's so tempting to order one instead of seafood. Prices are extremely inflated and while the portions are good, the food isn't exactly a good value. But, here, you should expect to pay for the experience and atmosphere as well as the overpriced food. Each time, the food has been prepared correct to what was ordered and correctly to the food itself, with professionalism and pleasant teamwork. Sometimes the specials on the seasonal menu are a gamble as the seasonings and preparations seem to be experimental and in need of refinement. It's great to try the specials if you're feeling adventurous and won't be disappointed your $40-$60 may not provide you something you like.

Yelp
Have been driving by this location for years when visiting my daughter who attended University of Puget Sound. As she was leaving town for grad school decided it was time to give it a go. Simply a great experience all the way around! To begin, our server was spot on! He (unfortunately I'm totally blanking on his name ) was so friendly, so attentive and shared he had worked a 12 hour shift the day before and was finishing up another long one with but you couldn't tell because his friendliness and attention to us. He was amazing! Upon his recommendation we ordered a salmon salad off the specials menu and the fish and chips. The salad was given an exceptional rating and the fish and chips were great! A glass of Riesling and a blonde ale from Gig Harbor rounded out the meal. The atmosphere inside was great, nautical and what you'd want. Will be back for sure!!

Yelp
We were once again very impressed with our experience at this location. The host staff was incredibly understanding of our unique situation having an autistic 6-year-old child who needed to stay in his stroller. They were very helpful and not put off at all. Our server attended to us promptly made recommendations and was efficient throughout the entire meal. Every single food item was served hot and delicious. All items were presented very nicely. The unique service was a nice surprise on a couple of the items. On our way to our table we were greeted by three separate employees who said welcome in. Even though it was Mother's day, one of the busiest days of the year, the employees seem to relaxed and the atmosphere was efficient and pleasant. We have never been disappointed at this location. We highly recommend.

Yelp
haven't been back for a while and was in for a sticker shock on all the menu items but still a great meal, just pricey. expect to run $50+ per person for dinner, which is quite steep. the table sourdough breads were served warm and hot, always a win. clam chowder is good, albeit small. house wine, exceptional! our server was very attentive. food deliverer was a little more novice and didn't know which orders belonged to which person... view, exceptional if you're able to sit by the windows. there is a main dining room and another dining room off to the side. there's also outdoor seating when weather permits.

Yelp
My wife and I live in Des Moines, WA and drive about 50 minutes to get to Dukes for the food and view. We live less than 1 Mile from a similar restaurant in Des Moines and eat there almost as often. They have a wonderful view but not as good as Duke's. They offer a birthday coupon for $20, not as good as Duke's. Both restaurants produce 1st class food and it is impossible to pick which one is better. We were at the other place on June 15th for my birthday. They do not offer 1/2 price wine and have no VIP program. Appetizers are similarly priced at about $19. Seafood fettuccine was very good at $38 but I loved Duke's scallop ravioli at $36.90. Dungeness crab cales were delicious at $48 and my generous halibut was $46, entrees Duke's does equally well. We really enjoy the BT Simeon Viognier. We first tasted it at a Duke's wine tasting up on South Lake Union. Both restaurants offer complementary hot fresh baked sourdough bread, the best anywhere. Many restaurants have begun to charge for the bread or at least the second basket. For us the bread is one of the highlights of the evening. Part of the Duke's birthday deal is complementary fish tacos. At $29.80, many people might see these as one of the less expensive meals but they are over the top delicious. The tacos are so big, 2 people would share them.

Yelp
We made it right at the 2-minute mark before the end of the happy hour. We got 2 drinks at $10 each (instead of around $15 each) and a slightly discounted appetizer (validating for $2 off). We also tried their chowder sampler, their award winning crab cake, their cioppino, and the gluten free carrot cake. The food was very tasty, the service was attentive and quick, and for some tables there are stunning views to the marina. Complementary bread comes toasted with butter and in general the place was lively and pleasant. Will return.

Yelp
We traveled to Seattle for vacation and wanted to have an excellent seafood dinner. Our friend said "Duke's." He's right. The meal was outstanding. The server gave spot on advice (stuffed shrimp poppers) and helped us enhance our meal with suggestions. Excellent crab cakes. I felt the tomato flavor was a little strong in the ciopino but still great. It's the small things that kept Duke's from a 5-star experience. We were seated along the wall, fine, where there are sconces with paddles in front of them. Because I was against the wall, one of those lights shined directly in my eye until we unscrewed it. Our visit was in the winter so not much of a view of the sound but in the summer it has to be awesome. The food is totally worth it.

Yelp
I just want to say that Duke's has always consistently been a spot near and dear to me and my family members as a space to enjoy our food and amazing service. On January 17th, my boyfriend and I stopped by to celebrate a very belated birthday as their birthday coupon is very graceful with its time period (6 weeks within your birthday). I made a reservation online just in case as I know Duke's is busy at night but it wasn't too terribly busy and we were seated at a comfortable and intimate booth near the window to see the water. I had asked for a booth seat so it's sweet that they accommodated that for us, as I have a leg injured making it hard to sit on anything else. The lighting was slightly dim but that was perfect for us as my boyfriend was suffering from a migraine. Our booth was neatly decorated and clean. The candle we had was blinking irregularly and who I think was the manager replaced it with a functional candle midway through our meal which I thought that was thoughtful! Now the highlight of this trip was when we met our waitress, Victoria. Not only was she one of the most sweetest and professional waitress we have had in all our years of dining out but she always made sure our needs were met! She checked in on whenever it was fitting and always did everything in such a positive way with a smile on her face. Her interactions with her fellow employees and other customers were all genuine and friendly, which shows that she is just an awesome employee! Even when it was very close to closing time, she did not rush us and even offered us some sourdough bread to take home. The food as always was fantastically prepared. The sourdough bread with their clam chowder is a killer duo. We split the fish and chips then got the brookie as dessert which was a perfect way to end the night. This is definitely one of the most memorable dining experiences for not only 2024 but in my life. Thank you Duke's and Victoria for such a wonderful evening and we look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Great food, exceptional service, and a wonderful view of the water. Dukes is on the pricier side but hands down sooo good. We ordered Calamari, a chowder sampler (you get to pick your chowders) I had the Holy Halibut Macadamia, and wife had the Cod fish and chips. Nothing disappointed. A recommend on all the items.

Anne T.

Yelp
The all I could taste in the "clam' chowder was pepper. The waitress was super helpful and replaced my undercooked seafood but cold to the touch raw scallops and shrimp served on a platter with a chip taken out of the edge of the dish the size of my thumb nail left me cold. As I sit here a couple hours after eating the meal, I am feeling nauseated. Food poisoning? I vote to close the place down.

Fred S.

Yelp
I like dukes a lot, the restaurant is really well run and efficient as far as speed of service etc. it is a little pricey if you are doing dinner entrees, however I like to just come for chowder and a drink. I've had all their chowders but my favorite is their classic clam chowder. It's a great spot for lunch as the speed of service is pretty on par for a weekday lunch where you want a good meal but need to get back to work after. If you are looking for a more formal dinner it's also a good spot for that, they have a full bar and the waterfront views are great.

Yelp
Food tasted good, service was very friendly, however shortly after eating here Thursday evening I'd say about anhour or so, I got violently ill and was hospitalized with food poisoning. Prior to this is I was happy and energetic having an amazing time. I was on vacation with my husband and baby. We spent a very uncomfortable evening in the er and I had every test known to man and came out with 4 medications and have been in bed still ill ever since. It's been almost 48 hours since I ate here.

Sonia S.

Yelp
The food is tasty...a bit on the pricey side but thats because it is sustainable seafood or organic sides and beverages--which is a plus. The meal was good, although they could have been just a little more generous with the portions. I do like that they offer quality food and their alcoholic beverage menu is better than most other restaurants...so this is what keeps me returning. They have a great loyalty program. Their view is beautiful. Outdoor seating during warmer months. Service is usually good here. I love their blueberry lemonade!

Yelp
Super chill chowder house! My husband and I came in on a Sunday afternoon with 3 kids and there was something for everyone. We started with the crab dip and it was amazing! My kids don't usually eat much seafood (if at all) but they loved all of it. The youngest (3yrs old) was able to have chicken Alfredo, the oldest had the clam chowder and finished every bit! We had my oldest's (10 yrs old) best friend and he had the kids salmon bites and he absolutely CRUSHED them. My husband and I had the macadamia halibut and a veggies chowder in a bread bowl. So delicious! Even though it's a seafood chowder house there's still other options and I was impressed. I was honestly shocked there was a vegetarian chowder (which was ) Our server was absolutely spectacular and even offered to give us samples of different dishes we were interested in but not completely sold on. That in it of itself was amazing because it's definitely a little spendy to gamble on random things. I would come here again and again. Especially being that the location we dined at was on Ruston way facing the waterfront! Insert chefs kiss here!

Sarah S.

Yelp
On a nice day sitting outside is worth an extra star alone. This restaurant is just one of those where they don't go wrong. The service was extra good. Everything they brought out was great. The sourdough bread excellent. The lettuce in the salad and the toppings all perfect and nothing off. The chowders every bite was full of flavor. The breaded cod not greasy and great sauces. Shareable portions. We went at lunch and thought items might be smaller they weren't. It has its own parking lot. You won't be disappointed

Dan N.

Yelp
Great views on the patio of the sound, service was very pleasant and food was tasty. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio for dinner tonight. Overall, well worth a visit on a nice day. Especially after taking a walk along the waterfront.

Jewelia C.

Yelp
Stopped by on the way to Port Orchard from flying into SEATAC. They have such a huge menu it was hard to choose from but ended up getting the combo of fish and chips and clam chowder which was great because I got the best of both worlds and really wanted to try their chowder but not get a whole bowl of it. Food was delicious and so were the drinks! And can't beat a view of the water.

Laura P.

Yelp
Delicious food, exceptionally professional and attentive service, a welcoming and comfortable upscale crab shack vibe, an unwavering dedication to freshness and sustainable fisheries, and a great view of the Tacoma Harbor await you at Dukes. You need to come here! We wanted a last splurge PNW seafood dinner before heading back to Dallas, and with 4 new giant cranes coming into Tacoma Harbor (happens like every 20-30 years) we wanted to eat harbor side. A quick scan of the harbor side restaurants showed a CLEAR favorite - and so we found ourselves at Duke's. Wow - we had a great view and a great meal! One of our party has seen that scallops were the featured seafood in their website, but when we got there the scallop feature ended the day before!! Nevertheless, the manager checked with the chef, and while they did not have all the ingredients for the scallop special, they offered to make a scallop linguine pasta with whatever vegetables she wanted, in whatever style she wanted - and so she had a bespoke Scallop Piccata Pasta that was DELICIOUS!! The rest of us ordered off the menu. Two had the Dukes Crab Cake combo, each with different chowders. Both crab cakes were delicious and, as the menu promised, more crab than filling. They are delicious!! And the chowders -- sublime! We loved the Libster Mobster chowder - sooooo buttery and gooooooood!! I ordered the Thai Halibut special - a think halibut fillet grilled and served over coconut rice and a mild coconut Thai curry. It was soo beautifully executed and absolutely one of the best meals I have had in a long time. 5 Eat at Dukes NOW stars!!

Nicole R.

Yelp
Love it here. It was perfect for a date night. The fish was fresh and the sourdough was SO good!! I got full from just the delicious bread. Loved the prawns and the chowder. It was a great night.

Kat S.

Yelp
I have eaten at the Dukes on Alki Beach and enjoyed it. I was thrilled to be able to meet friends at the location in Tacoma during my quick visit to the PNW. The meal didn't disappoint... I had it in my mind that I was going to order the "un" crab cake but after looking at the seasonal menu, I reversed course and when the the Thai Ginger Halibut. Great choice and a scrumptious meal. I did contain myself to just a dingy of the Lobster chowder for a starter. I could have easily had a giant bucket of it and been happy. Great meal and great service from our server, Eric!

Erika T.

Yelp
Pulling into the parking lot it was very busy. When we walked in to put our name on the waitlist there was may be about 10 people waiting. Got to the host stand and asked for outside seating for three but we would take first available. It was only about a 10 minute wait so we decided to grab a drink at the bar for happy hour. I'm not a big drinker, but they had a blueberry lemon drop, which was out of this world. Loved the blueberry, garnish, and the sugar rim. Decided on the fish tacos for dinner. They do have an option of one or two tacos. When I told the waiter to tacos he said how hungry are you? At that point I asked, are they big tacos? He said they are larger than people expect. Because I am staying in a hotel and fish doesn't warm up very well in the microwave. I elected to have one taco. My mates that I was with told me to get the two tacos and they would eat the other one if I could not finish it. Well, I was only able to eat one taco so they had a taco for later. It was a nice evening with a slight breeze to be able to sit outside on the deck and watch the fishing boats, bringing crab and the tankers waiting to get into the port. If you want fresh seafood, I highly recommend this place.

Tina J.

Yelp
We went here today and had an unusual experience. I had a reservation and when we arrived were seated off to a side room. We have always been seated at the best tables with great views. I took my friend there for her first time so wanted her to have the same great experience we had on many prior occasions. I asked to have a better view and was then seated at another less than desirable table. There were many open tables with great views. We had to wait for availability for the servers to have enough time to wait on us, we were told. I can't help but think we were not seated at the nicer tables because I am handicapped. I wasn't before and never had this happen. Imagine the feeling this brings.... Our server, Emily was great. The food was great.

Ashley W.

Yelp
Visually this place doesn't look bad. I've heard a lot of good things about dukes but I did not experience anything but subpar food. Everything was very mediocre and god awfully expensive !!! It was my friend and I first time being here and we had high expectations since we have been to Wild Fin numerous times and wanted to try something new for a change. Too start, the crab dip was the only thing I would recommend but not for $20. Now for the chowder , I had the " award winning " chowder , and I honestly cannot see how it is award winning. I've had the best NE clam chowder in Boston Massachusetts and have never had better chowder anywhere else. No one know show to do New England chowder like Boston does !! For the entrees , my halibut was SO DRY !! It hurt going down my throat with how dry it was!!! The waitress was Pamela that we had and she admitted it was way over-cooked , ( not sure if she tasted it or a chef ) , but they were more than happy to remake it. My friend had their special , the red shrimp and clams gnocchi which was so gross . The sauce tasted like Campbell soup can & the shrimp was non existent. Very disappointed. My friend ended up ordering a new meal, she had salmon with veggies . We both got our new meals and to our surprise , it did was over cooked and the flavor is missing entirely. For our entrees to be $42 I expect A LOT !! This place was awful, overpriced , and I will never go again. Please don't waste your money here. EAT AT LOBSTER SHOP INSTEAD

Kathy E.

Yelp
This time there I went out of my comfort zone in food and tried the clam chowder for the first time ever and I must say it was delicious! Our waitress was excellent! Brianna (I think that's how it's spelled) She was friendly and we never once had to ask her to fill anything she was always making sure we had what we needed or wanted, As always the place was clean and welcoming,

John C K.

Yelp
As I've said before, Duke's is our go-to place for family celebrations. We dine there 2 or 4 times a year. The food is always excellent. A very broad wine list where the specials are killers. BUT - who ever hires the wait staff is a prime reason we come back. The servers are all and always excellent not only in their service but the personality they bring to our table. Example: Yesterday we celebrated Easter dinner and Joanna was our server. She was delightful!

Sharyce H.

Yelp
This place was amazing and had such great customer service. Beautiful location and beautiful inside. The restaurant was kept really clean and had a peaceful environment. Staff was friendly, we were greeted by multiple people who all seemed very friendly. We had a difficult time deciding what to pick from the menu but ended up selecting the Topless Salmon Slider To start with the Salmon Cobb Salad, Lobster Chowder in a Bread Bowl and the Linguine for my toddler as our main dishes. All amazing dishes that didn't disappoint. Absolutely thrilled we stopped by and had a great time!

Jo V.

Yelp
We went for a late Mother's Day dinner and it was a wonderful experience! The view of the water was beautiful the entire way around the restaurant! Our server was great! He was attentive, personable and made really strong recommendations when we were confused on what we wanted. The food was delicious! It came out in a reasonable punt of time. We had got the calamari, stuffed halibut and crusted salmon! At the end we had a marionberry pie - it came out served warm with a big ole scoop of ice cream on it! We would 100% recommend and will be back!

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Loveeee this place. All the delicious foods where out of this world. Im from California but the foods here in tacoma, we're fresh and tasteful. The service was great but they forgot my friend's son food. We were almost done eating and we had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes. Other than that everything was wonderful. Great view of the water and beautiful view of Mount. Rainier.

Danie R.

Yelp
It's solid. I didn't like the chowder as it was a bit heavy on the thyme. The licorice was way overpowering. The crab cakes were very crabby and good. I liked the Bloody Mary but nothing too crazy there. If it's not cold, sit outside around sunset. Gorgeous views.

Susan R.

Yelp
Clarissa taking names and kicking a$$ again! Stopped in for dinner, it's been a rough few days. This is my go-to spot when I'm home and not traveling. Clarissa is training a new bartender and he (Eric) is doing a fab job! At one point tho, one of the servers came up and said hey ... It's been 15 minutes (waiting for a drink...) We've all been there. At least those of us who have bartended at any point in our career. Enter Clarissa. Ninja bartender. She plowed through the back orders, quickly filling drinks and catching up the bar. She sent Eric to grab the beers while she expertly mixed the cocktails. He asked "what can I do to help?" (That's not often asked when a person is asked to step aside. I was so impressed!!! The thing is tho, as soon as they were within a few minutes of ordering time, Clarissa backed off and handed the bar back over to Eric. Letting other folks succeed is how we grow, how we shine. And it's spring. So let's shine and help others grow Thanks Clarissa for always brightening my week. See you soon, my friend

Derrick G.

Yelp
The service at this Duke's location was outstanding. My server never let my glass go empty, and he accommodated all of my requests very quickly. I ordered the crab cake and clam chowder, the meal came with a big slice of fresh sourdough bread. The crab cake had good flavor, but unlike the advertisement, it was quite a bit of cake and less crab. The clam chowder definitely met expectations. The clam chowder had amazing flavor, and the warm and fresh sourdough bread dipped in the clam chowder flavor was outstanding. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you enjoy seafood and fantastic service.

Vidonni G.

Yelp
So I ate all my food, which is good! Sadly no pics! We did get pics of our drinks! We got the most beautiful view of the waters! So if you want a good view of outdoors this is the place to be! I came with family so we got an abundance of food. The bread is delish! My sister let me try her Parmesan halibut, it was tasty. My fiancé and I shared the steak strips of calamari, the salmon bites and the salmon sliders! Omg, I am not a seafood person. We gobbled that shiiiii' down!!! My fiancé ordered a Bloody Mary which he enjoyed and I had a yum-yum delish Margarita! Pics included on that. Servers were so nice and quick with the food! A+!!!

Crystal M.

Yelp
I absolutely love Dukes! It's weird I'm vegan and they only offer one vegan dish but it's amazing. I keep coming back for more of it! It's the veggie vegan stew and I just absolutely love the broth. I love all the vegetable variety. I'm not a huge fan of potatoes, but the potatoes make the stew hardy. You can get it in a bread bowl but they also offer bread to the table so I just get the stew and dip my bread into the broth. A side-note, for all the vegans you can get your bread with olive oil and masonic vinegar instead of butter. Service is always outstanding. Offer a slew of cocktails. The ambience is fun and it could be intimate. And I certainly can't overlook the fact that they're located in the Ruston Way's Puget Sound water front with an amazing view of the water way facing east .

Cici G.

Yelp
Eating seafood outdoors while overlooking water... Obviously, that is the biggest draw for places like this. Our family sat outside on a lovely day. It was the weekend, but there wasn't a wait for the table. 4/5 - Super Calamari Steak Strips: These were really good 3/5 - Carrot Cake: pretty good 3/5 - Coco Loco Prawns: coconut encrusted wild Mexican prawns with sweet chili sauce. 3/5 - Oh My Cod! Fish and Chips Combo: Panko breaded cod and clam chowder. Everything was just "fine". 2/5 - Blessed by the Pope Cioppino: Dungeness crab, Alaska salmon, halibut, cod and Mexican shrimp. I couldn't tell there was any crab in it. Huge disappointment. 2/5 - All Hail Caesar Salad with Salmon: WAY too much dressing. The food came out to 2.8 stars. I'm bumping it up to 3 stars for the view and the ease of seating. I'm honestly not surprised. Unfortunately, they are relying too much on their location and not putting as much effort into their food.

Chrissy A.

Yelp
Got the award winning chowder and crab stuffed prawns. Both very delicious. The chowder was so good I ordered some to take home. Nice atmosphere on the water

Yelp
This is a terrific find on the Tacoma waterfront. Not at all what we were expecting but quite happy that we found it. We were in for an early dinner and it wasn't too busy but by the time we left, it was really getting packed! The restaurant is nicely segmented so there was a cozy feel but they have spaces that were capable of holding a larger group. We got an excellent table by a window with a lovely view of the waterfront. Our server was quite attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the menu, walking through our myriad questions with patience. Appetizer was the maple bacon seafood bites. One scallop and one shrimp wrapped in bacon with a bacon glaze. Yum. I opted for the three course meal, soup, salad, and entree. Soup was the Lobster Mobster chowder and it was unlike anything I've ever had. Warm, smooth, rich, creamy. The salad was the Sweet Caper Spinach Salad, a wonderful combination of bacon, almonds, chopped eggs, and tomatoes over baby spinach leaves with a slightly sweet, slightly tart vinaigrette. My entree was the two piece Oh My Cod & chips. Pretty hefty slabs of fish very lightly breaded and fried to perfection. Super moist fish, plenty tender, and the dill tarter was the perfect compliment. If I had a beef with this, I could have used about 50% more 'chips'. They were just average French fries and the only way to improve is to offer a few more of them. My wife's meal was the Prawn, Scallop & Crab "Un"Cake Mixed Grill. The only thing I sampled here was the "un" cake (crab cake). This is hands down the best I have ever had. No doubt, 100% exceptional. This is so good they have crabs lining up to give their life for this cake!! Two amazing flavorful sauces with this, too. Be aware, this is not cheap eats but it's a fine value for the dining dollar when combining all the elements of food, atmosphere, service, location, etc.

Yelp
We visit the Seattle-Tacoma area often, but this is the first time we dined at Dukes Seafood. I would rate it as the best seafood restaurant in the Tacoma area. Most of us ordered fish tacos, but some of us also ordered other dishes such as Wild Mixed Greens Salad with Crabmeat, Blackened Halibut Quesadilla, and Vegan Veggie Stew. Every one of us was very satisfied with our order. I liked the Rockin' Rockfish Tacos a little better than the Unforgettable Sea Cod Tacos.

Yelp
Dukes was beyond what I expected. Our server was amazing and so attentive. The drinks were sooooo delicious, the best espresso martini I've ever had. The appetizer of crispy salmon bites was so good and the sauces that came with it were delicious. Not to mention the fresh sourdough they provide- yum ! The best part of all was my salmon pasta. It was the yummiest meal i have had in forever. This restaurant is on a dock so you're above the water, so the view was amazing!! Very nice inside. Please try this place if you want to be blown away !!

Yelp
The chowder is amazing and the scene is spectacular. They have different kinds of chowder to select. The clam chowder is the best, however the fish and chips are just so so, not recommended

Yelp
What a beautiful location! Great service. Most incredible hosting staff who's super accommodating and does their best to make it a great experience. The food is decent- I had the seafood ciopini, my husband has the salmon, our friends has the seafood salad and fish and chips and everyone enjoyed their food. The wine is great. The drinks- not so much. We ordered Expresso martinis and it was not good so we switched to a nice bottle of cab. I wish the restaurant was cleaner. It was quite dirty, the bathrooms, the outside seating could get a revamp because it's such a great view and patio but filled with dirty old simple outdoor furniture and dirty windows that should be cleaned- this was a huge turn off and killed the overall ambiance. I do love the music in the background. The best part was the people, the hostess were amazing. Our server was incredible!!!

Yelp
Had a party of six here for dinner tonight. I've been to the Duke's at Green Lake and Southcenter and wasn't overly impressed. Really enjoyed this location. Atmosphere, employees, service was great! Tara was our server. Friendly, efficient and always a smile on her face. I ordered a blood orange margarita which was so so. Didn't even have a slight buzz afterwards. That said, the food did not disappoint and I will definitely come back!

Yelp
One of my favorite places as far as food, but the hostesses need better training. Nearly empty restaurant, no one waiting and was told there would be a 3 hr wait. Seating only outside and still over an hour wait for that. Not sure if they don't have enough servers or what but seemed like a full staff walking around. Feel like they didn't want us there because we had 2 kids 5 and 7. Both who are well behaved. But also 4 adults that would have spent plenty because on vacation looking for cocktails and apps and full dinners. One of those servers definitely missed out on a big check. Not a weekend Friday afternoon 1130. Now down the street being accommodated with just as great of a view. Hope the management can get a handle on this because I have now seen many reviews that seem similar

Yelp
All stars, as it checks all the boxes. The environment first- is a given. Eating on the waterfront with those views. Everything we had was delicious. Stand-outs were a halibut Thai special (one of the best.) If you have read my other posts you would realize am always on a quest to find the best crab cakes. I put these at my top 5. I opted for the dinner plate for the aioli but might rethink that next time. The coconut prawn, which I usually find too breaded, were perfect. This was a lunch event and we paid (sometimes selected) dinner pricing. Our server was over the top attentive and sweet.

Yelp
What an amazing place to have some delicious seafood and enjoy the view of the Puget Sound. Located right on the water, this place has some good options for seafood. They provide complimentary sourdough bread along with butter as a starter. I ordered the BBQ and seafood plate; the ribs were cooked perfectly and fell right off the bone. It came with potatoes and zucchini as a side. The scallops and shrimp came with 3 each on a small pick and were all right. The service here was great; the waitress constantly came to check in on us and provide us with refills of water. Price: $20-40 Parking: Free, bountiful, parking lot

Yelp
Always wanted to try this place out and finally decided to last weekend. It was pretty packed as expected on a Saturday, definitely recommend making a reservation beforehand. We did so we were quickly seated to our table with no issues. Wasn't really a fan of how close our booth was to the next one, felt like I was sitting in part of the other party and I'm sure they felt the same. The service was good though I wished the server had brought the check out in a guest check pad in order place my card in rather than just handing it to them with directly worried it might get lost or dropped considering how busy the server and restaurant was. The food was pretty good. We started with Super Calamari Steak Strips Dungeness Crab Dip and Lobster Mobster Pernod Chowder. The crab dip was a table fav and the sauces were more on the tangy side. Though I wish the chowder had little kick of spice to it. For the entrees we had ordered Seattle's Best Crab Cake Sandwich Combo Duke's Favorite Pasta with Wild Salmon, Stuffed & Puffed Prawns and Two Piece Oh My Cod Fish & Chips. Overall pretty good though definitely recommend trying the stuffed and puffed prawns it had the most flavor and was filling, the veggies with it added a good balance with the heavy prawns. Overall a good restaurant, would recommend checking out if you enjoy seafood - would definitely want to eat here again during the summer time to eat outside with the view!

Yelp
Best clam chowders! Love to bring out of town guests to enjoy seafood & the ambiance close to the water.

Yelp
I have given Dukes so many chances to impress me and each time I leave unimpressed. There is always something wrong with one or two dishes that we order. The complimentary bread comes with a rock hard block of butter. The fish tends to be under cooked or rubbery. One time the coating came completely off of my fish! I had a special that was a Thai cod that was so intense that it tasted bitter. The chowder is NOT award winning!! The music overhead was something from the 80's and extremely depressing. To the point I wanted to leave. I felt like I stepped back in time to a restaurant that may have been a go to but is now trying to stay relevant without the pizazz. The prices on the food do not reflect the quality. Extremely overpriced!! The servers have always been the best part of the visit. They are professional and punctual. I do not recommend this restaurant. The prices are too expensive and the food is mediocre. There are many other places that feel more enjoyable and have better tasting meals. I literally left Dukes depressed from the music and disappointed from the terrible tasting meals with a very large check!!!

Yelp
Consistently great seafood for a local chain. The chef's specials have not disappointed. Food (4/5): - Chowder boats (4/5): I like the Duke's chowder selection. We dipped our complimentary bread in the clam, lobster, chicken, and salmon dinghies. - Alaska weathervane scallop ravioli: 4/5. This was a special, and it was pricey at ~$30, but I did enjoy the light pumpkin filling and buttery scallops. - Shiitake wasabi burger: 5/5. We ordered the burger medium rare, and Duke's cooked the meat right. It was moist & meaty. Duke's piled the mushrooms high on this one, and the wasabi was subtle. Service and atmosphere (4/5): All interactions with staff were pleasant. Staff was hands off. The view off the dock is lovely.

Yelp
Everything everyone got in my party was adored! The waiter was so sweet and gave all of his suggestions. The pumpkin ravioli with scallops was literally the best cooked scallops of my life. I got the stuffed halibut. I think it was slightly overcooked but tasty none the less. A restaurant on the water, it is a perfect romantic spot but my friends kids were also welcomed. Lovely meal! The clam chowder is so great too!

Yelp
Such a difference experience from the Seattle location. The food was not good, the service was not at all the same and the booths block the view. Parking was free at this location though.

Yelp
We're we're lucky to get water views so it made our dinner more enjoyable. The service was good and had a diverse menu and special options to choose from. We started with the Clam lovers steamer clams which was ok, could have been better. The toasted bread that came with it though was really good was real good. What I would recommend though is the Award winning clam chowder which was delicious and highly recommended. The Rajun Cajun Corn chowder was also delicious and full of flavor. If you're in the mood for more seafood, get the Pan seared salmon. It was cooked to perfection, tender and so flavorful. highly recommended
