I am not a cider person, but my wife is, and hence this was a good place to stop for a treat on a long drive up to the Boundary Waters. I am now a cider person when it comes to this place. They go far beyond the "pick sweet, off-dry, or dry" kind of lineup you get at most cideries. There are multiple choices in each category, some fruit infused, some herbal, some hoppy. And, you can get a sampler (4 minis for $10), *or* your designated driver can get a single mini-pour of something to taste. A lot of breweries/cideries don't have the short pour option, and it helps.
The winner for me (and for others, it apparently got a gold medal of some kind) was a brew called Las Lajas. It's a collaboration with Duluth Coffee. A little on the sweeter side, but basically, imagine if a coffee stout (e.g., the Double Black from their fine neighbors at Bent Paddle) had a love child with an apple. It's unlike anything I've ever tasted made from mostly apples, and there is a crowler in my fridge that will be saved for when company that we actually like comes over.
No food, but can easily BYO. Good patio with lots of shade, appropriately distanced indoor seating, highly kid friendly. Fully recommended among your oh so many beverage options in Duluth.
