Where to Eat and Drink in Duluth, Minnesota

"This is the sister restaurant to Duluth Coffee Company, which pours the Twin Ports’ finest cups of Joe just next door. With a full espresso bar and farm-to-table dishes like biscuits and gravy, vegetable hashes, and loaded French toast, Duluth Coffee Kitchen is an ideal brunch spot — even better, bloody marys and espresso martinis are on the menu, too." - Justine Jones, Alex Lodner

Google
Great coffee indeed! Party of 2, order: cappuccino and Latte The latte art was really pretty and the cream on top was very smooth. Please stop by here on our way from Duluth to Gooseberry Falls and it was a perfect stop to grab a little drink.

Google
Great coffee. Great food! This place is popular so get here early or be prepared to wait for your food. Totally worth it!

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Check out this amazing latte art! The staff were super helpful and made great suggestions. I ended up trying the Cardamom Maple Latte, and it was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend both the drink and the friendly atmosphere at Duluth Coffee Co.

Google
My “new favorite coffee shop” This place is the Mecca of knowledge and skill in roasting coffee to perfection. A must try and you will become a believer.

Google
i don't typically drink coffee daily, it's kinda a treat i seek out on rare occasions.. i ordered a maple cold brew & forgot to say i wanted cream. i HATE coffee without cream. to my pleasant surprise, it really didn't even need any cream! the maple syrup was perfect & the coffee wasn't overwhelmingly strong! the best coffee i've had without creamer hands down! ❣️

Google
Visiting. For starters you $$ to park. I decided to get a burrito bowl. Figured it would be amazing when looking at the price. $17 - then got a vanilla latte. Total bill was $26 + $3 parking. Look at the burrito bowl. Barely anything. Seriously? Come on you don’t have to be this stingy. Two people would be spending close to $60 for this - not resteraunt quality. Coffee was good though and internet is slow.

Google
This place is amazing, both in quality of the food and the service. Their food is locally sourced from the local Duluth farmers and you can tell that in the taste of the food. It’s one thing for a restaurant to say and it’s something else to actually taste it and see the ingredients that they use. As an example, the milk that they use is in the glass bottle with organic mile. Coffee tasted amazing and did I mention that the servers were amazing too.

Google
Omg shocked….A local employee of Bent Paddle recommended I go here over Uncle Louie’s. The cashier was great, the coffee was meh, the roper was HORRID-I wouldn’t even SERVE a sandwich that looked like this. Embarrassing. The fried rice bowl was decent but looked like complete garbage. It also wasn’t mentioned they would be putting sausage in it because they were out of bacon. Yuck! The ice cream tasted like it was there since last summer. How this place is rated 4.6 stars is unbelievable. I definitely regret the visit. See you soon Uncle Louie.🤞

Yelp
Vanilla lattes are yummy. Vibe is chill. Lots to see in the cafe -- paintings etc Recommend!

Yelp
If you're staying in Duluth this is a solid choice for coffee and a sandwich before hitting the road north or south. The coffee shop is pretty small so ca get crowded on touristy weekends but the baristas move quickly. That might be partly sue to the curt nature of the service. Don't get me wrong; I'll take that over bubbly and fake any day. It's not cheap but I think the coffee is quality. They supply a ton of hotels and restaurants in the area. I haven't been to the cafe yet but it looks good and I might have to try it next time.

Yelp
My friend told me the decaf coffee here was good, so I had some next door with breakfast. It was SO good I bought two bags to bring home. Afterwards, I noticed I could have purchased a kilo of it. I will do that next time. The place is extremely popular, so I had a long wait to buy the bags, but it was a very pleasant ambiance so I didn't mind. It was a Sunday morning, so your mileage may vary, but it was about 10 or 15 minute wait. While in line, I noticed they also sell ICE CREAM from Love's creamery! Great to keep in mind for next time. Good decaf is hard to find. I plan to ask my local friend to bring it to me regularly!

Yelp
Stopped by to get my caffeine fix in between window shopping in the area. You really can't go wrong with a place that does it all in house - the smells and ambiance give the most welcome vibe. The baristas were very friendly and helpful as well. And my maple latte was delicious!

Yelp
Great Iced coffee. Well balanced acidity and the coffee flavor shines through. A line forms quickly, but it moves fast.

Yelp
We were visiting the area and had Duluth Coffee recommended to us. We came here each morning we were in town and got the best lattes! Since we were up early most days, it was before food being served/available, so I can't speak to how that was, but the staff was very friendly, the drinks were delicious, and I loved the overall ambiance of the space.

Yelp
If you are in Duluth this is a great coffee shop to try! The coffee drinks are really well done. The espresso is really smooth. Next door is their restaurant with pretty delicious food. We split the burrito and it was just enough and super yummy. A definite stop when you are on your way up north!

Yelp
Great coffee and great atmosphere. The first thing you do when you walk in is notice how long the line is but then you notice how great the coffee smells and that the staff really takes a good amount of time talking to people and figuring out what exactly they want. This is one of those true craft coffee places where the staff know their coffee and you can tell they put a lot of energy and effort into what they're doing. End up having two different coffees and espresso and a macchiato and they are both amazing. I think next time I go there I'm going to take some of the roasted coffee home. There's also an attached restaurant next door under the same name where it's more of a sit-down food place. This location doesn't really have food they have some little pastries but really it's all about the coffee and coffee experience. I will be back again next time I'm in Duluth.

Yelp
Stayed at the Sheraton hotel a few blocks down and decided to stop in for coffee and a little breakfast before starting the day. It sounds like they've recently added food to the menu, which I was excited about. Most coffee shops don't have a full menu so this was a bonus! The seating was comfy and they weren't too busy for a Friday morning. We were seated right away and our server took our order promptly. We started with two lattes which took a little while to come out, but were good. I wouldn't say anything over the top, but pretty decent. I chose this place because of its farm to table menu and the food was of good quality. The biscuits and gravy came out luke warm and were really spicy. I wouldn't order this again. However, the breakfast burrito was quite tasty and came with a side salad with a delicious vinaigrette. Order this! The space was cozy and cute. Especially on a foggy, dreary day. Overall, the experience was fine. Decent place to pop in for a coffee or light breakfast. Maybe get a little work done.

Yelp
Duluth Coffee Company is a gem! I had the maple latte, which was delicious. There was plenty of outdoor seating. The workers were kind and quick with service. Inside, they had cute merch, and it's definitely a place I'd love to sit and work. Highly recommend if you are driving through Duluth!
google avatar

George M.

Yelp
Just a nice little coffee shop. Like many these days not much seating inside though.
google avatar

Julie K.

Yelp
Great coffee shop in Duluth! We were in town for Grandma's Marathon and the line was out the door. The vanilla latte was nice and the breakfast sandwich was delicious as well.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
Stopped here on a business trip. It was a delicious coffee. They had two dairy free cream options oat and macadamia. I went with macadamia nut, while it wasn't my favorite the coffee itself was delicious. They also sell bags of coffee! The staff and service was also amazing.
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Great coffee shop in Duluth! Can also vouch for the sandwiches. I got an iced oat milk latte and it was great. Standard good latte!

Siena M.

Yelp
Honestly place is mega cute, coffee is great but my god the service on the coffee side is kind of offensive. Watch out for the brunette with a puffy vest. She is so incredibly condescending and mean. I even had a stranger come up to me to see if I was okay. All because I asked for a splash- literally a splash of creamer or oat milk- whichever was easiest/possible. She was so annoyed by my question, questioned if I even ordered that to begin with and never bothered to mention oh the creamer was replaced out front. According to her it was all an up charge.... Sucks because everything is good about this place but I'll take my business elsewhere with kinder service. Don't need my day to start with attitude when I just want a coffee with a splash of milk or creamer.

Yelp
Up here in Duluth on vacation and had to stop by the mothership. Sat with an Americano after buying a bag of Herman Alvarado beans. Service was top notch with timely selection recommendations. Ambiance is typical coffeehouse with an outdoor patio

Yelp
Nice chill spot for breakfast and coffee (ok, and maybe a drink or two). Amazing breakfast burrito and the Bloody Mary is solid. Looks like a fair number of regulars and the staff have friends drop in - always a good sign when you find that when visiting!

Amber T.

Yelp
What a great find! Delicious Latte Orange Cardamom Latte Quad with Oatmilk. Good enough to go back the next day! Great staff. Nice spot to sit and visit.

David E.

Yelp
Great clean breakfast. Wonderful service and the food all had great flavors. The restaurant was super clean. Highly recommend the burrito or bowls.

Louise M.

Yelp
painfully bad. Bitter coffee. $15 french toast (2 slices) hardly saw an egg, hardly cooked. Fruit "compote" on top tasted like rhubarb with no sugar. About a tablespoon of maple syrup. Awful. Out of bacon so our sweet waitress suggested sausage. We got a small plate of what looked like the remains in a frypan (see photo). She comped that, but the entire meal should have been. I can't understand how this place can get such rave reviews.
google avatar

James N.

Yelp
Great location downtown. Nice variety to the menu and friendly baristas. They definitely know their coffee. Very cool, antique atmosphere which makes it comfortable to sit and get some work done or kill a couple of hours. May be a bit on the pricier side if you're just looking to grab a quick cup and go.
google avatar

Yelp
food was cold, service didn't remember my name, wrote it down as Steven even after I left a tip, ambience was over crowded with uncomfortable seating, and cafe latte wasnt good. VERY OVERPRICED*** $51 dollars for two coffees, and some food.
google avatar

Renee B.

Yelp
Great service, good quality espresso and tasty lattes. Smaller seating area, but their cafe Nextdoor offers food and more seating.

Lul A.

Yelp
I got a chai here it was very good and there cookies was also delicious! Would recommend for a quick breakfast!! Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Elyza E.

Yelp
The coffee was good and the food was alright definitely over prices for a slice of brioche toast and avocado or bacon jam. The person taking orders was friendly but the rest of the staff was rude. Asked for a straw from the lady making our drinks and she just gave me a rude stare. Starbucks has better service unfortunately so I'd recommend going there. The coffee was good but that's about all they had going on
google avatar

Richie G.

Yelp
Great espresso in the heart of town. Was on a ride from Ely to Minneapolis and was jonesing. Barista was really nice, too. It hit the spot and the strawberry chip ice cream was a nice surprise :)

Brad L.

Yelp
Possibly the best espresso I've had in Duluth! Service was friendly and comfy place to work.
google avatar

Tyra L.

Yelp
The first visit was 5 stars the 2nd maybe 3 stars. I had a chai latte both times. For some reason the delicious beverage from the first day was disappointing and almost undrinkable the next day. The chai concentrate to milk ratio was off and the adorable sprinkle of spice was was not present on the foam. Nice atmosphere with local art on the walls. It's also cool to see them roast the beans. Picture is from the first visit. 2nd visit wasn't so cute.

T L.

Yelp
Best Coffee in Duluth. Locally rostered with a deep flavor profile. In a nice location.
google avatar

Katy F.

Yelp
Stopped in to grab a drink before heading back to the Twin Cities. The baristas were incredibly friendly and took care in crafting each drink. I ordered a maple oat latte and was very impressed. Definitely worth stopping in :)
google avatar

Michelle Z.

Yelp
The pastries are very good. They have a decent selection of drinks. The staff is always so friendly, and I think it is the perfect place to study/catch up on work. The vibes are great.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
I love going to new cities and finding a great local coffee spot. Duluth Coffee Company was a great find! I had a cold brew with oat milk and maple. The maple flavoring was very subtle but was so good with the flavor of the cold brew! My boyfriend got the mint tea iced and it was also great. Very refreshing and great for summer.
google avatar

Laurie A.

Yelp
Barista promised me these were "change my life" lattes...& you know what.... I'm not gonna say he was wrong! Excellent coffee stop!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Sleek and clean coffee shop that was quiet on a Wednesday night. Seems like a great place to work, study, or meet with friends. I ordered a macadamia nut vanilla latte and it was great! The alternative milk options were soy, oat, or macadamia milk.
google avatar

Carlyn H.

Yelp
Service 5 stars. Ambience 5 stars. Coffee, truthfully and it is a bummer to say-- 3/5. We got their brewed coffee (the Costa Rican blend) which tasted watered down and off somehow. Hoping it was just a bad day for them or that their espresso is pressed with more love.

Yelp
We stopped here on our way out of town, after skipping the hotel coffee & scouring all of our sources for locating real coffee. I'd read that the croissants were a MUST if there were any left. There were 2 almond croissants, so we snagged 1 right off the bat. The hubs went right in for a nitro I was less decisive - toggling between the macchiato and cortado. I opted for the cortado. He got his right away and went to the table. I waited. After a bit, I noticed a cup sitting there and I was the only person left. It was bigger than expected, I scowled but reached for it. They told me it wasn't mine. Oops, I was fondling someone else's lifeline. Also, yay, my drink wasn't made wrong! Don't judge me- the cortado, much like the macchiato HAS been served to me in a 10oz mug more than once. Sometimes less is more. Moments later my lil cuppa life was in my trembling hands. Smooth & Satsfying. I could catch the full flavor of the coffee, with just enough cut through. Hot, but not scalding. The hubs enjoyed his drink - he can leave his own review. The croissant, while not actually made here and possibly not appropriate to review here, was quite good. I'd definitely purchase again, though I won't lie and say it's the best I've ever had. It's the best I've had this month. ; ) Music was played at an appropriate volume for the setting. Photographs displayed for sale were aesthetically pleasing. A solid 4 stars - nothing gimmicky, just good coffee, which was EXACTLY what we wanted.

Ari B.

Yelp
The coffee is some of the best I've ever had, and the workers are very friendly and hard working. As for the atmosphere, it's a little small inside the building, and can get crowded during "rush-hour," but that's just a hallmark of a good coffee shop.

Yelp
Does the fact my husband and son: 1 - Go twice a day 2 - Jump out of bed early each day to get their coffees 3 - Talk about it all day long how amazing it is, and at bed time can't wait to wake up to get coffee Have any indication how good it is? We've had coffee from all over the world, and this is hands down the BEST coffee we've ever had. Don't come to Duluth and leave without a cup of Joe from here!

Christine M.

Yelp
Great coffee! Especially love their chai lattes, yum yum. Nice ambiance, especially given many coffee shop options in the nearby area

Laurel B.

Yelp
Good coffee shop. Industrial interior. The shop is on a major street. Staff were professional.
google avatar

Alyson M.

Yelp
Tried this coffee shop on a weekend away to Duluth. We went here both days and had 2 different experiences. The first day we went the guy at the register was really helpful and the barista was more than competent. The coffee was smooth and amazing and the lavendar sugar donut thing I had was really flavorful. I also found out that they make their own flavor syrups which is always a plus for me. The second day we went, the coffee was more bitter than the first day but the service was still on point. I suppose this inconsistency is the risk you run when you go to a place that doesn't make cookie cutter drinks, but it would still be nice to know i'm going to enjoy my coffee every time I go.

Peter C.

Yelp
Professional coffee. Gorgeous spot. One of those places that makes you remember that coffee can be an art and a passion.

Steph S.

Yelp
Great quality coffee, great food choices and great staff! Cute interior and adequate outdoor seating. A home run!
google avatar

Valentina P.

Yelp
I liked this place! I had an oat milk mocha and it was delicious, not too sweet but not just coffee taste either. My husband had a maple latte and I liked it too! Very cute place to stop for some coffee.

Curtis M.

Yelp
This is a legit coffee shop!!! The cappuccino was delicious and the barista was a true coffee artist with the foam. Then had a large brewed coffee and enjoyed a walk along the Lakeshore Trail. I will recommend DCC to all my familfriends who come to Duluth
google avatar

DannyScoops S.

Yelp
I felt like I was in an episode of Portlandia. When I tried to order a sugar free option the lady taking my order was like, " we don't do SF. All are syrups are made from scratch in-house except the maple syrup...". Which is when I quite listening. I told her I couldn't do sugar for health reasons and was just stared at back blankly. I got a coffee miel for $8 after tip, for my wife. Coffee was good but not $8's good . I prefer shopping local, but jeesh. I think Gwyneth Paltrow would be a huge fan of this place.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a maple latte on an early fall morning. Need I say more? Honestly the coffee here is hands down my all time favorite. It's very balanced and mellow. It was one of the best lattes of my life and I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
I tried the Cortado and the nitro cold brew. Both weee winners in my coffee book. It's a nice, calm environment and people were friendly and informative. That's all one can want in a coffee shop, right?
google avatar

Rebeka J.

Yelp
We got coffee from the shop set up in Hoops Brewery. By far the best coffee I've gotten in Duluth - conveniently located in Canal Park. Coffee was very smooth and rich, well worth the cost. Barista was very nice and knowledgeable.
