Where to Eat and Drink in Duluth, Minnesota

"Duluth’s Best Bread cold-ferments its dough and bakes it in high heat and high moisture, giving it a crackly, caramelized crust and a moist, soft interior. It’s made with wild yeast — which has the same probiotics found in kombucha and yogurt — giving the dough a delicate tang. Load up on pain au chocolats, croissants, and cranberry wild rice bread for the road." - Justine Jones, Alex Lodner

We stopped in there during Duluth days to grab our son a pop tart. We got the flavor of the day and one for each of us. We let the employee know that we were taking it home for breakfast with our son and she gave us a nice to go container instead of a bag, to keep them fresh. She was very nice!! I forgot her name. The next morning we warmed up and ate our pop tarts and while they were very good, I wasn't super impressed. There was very little filling and it mostly tasted like a buttery flaky crust with lines of sweet frosting. I didn't feel the frosting and filling complimented each other at all. I appreciate the work that goes into these poptarts and they taste good. I just don't think I would pay $5.50 for one again.

Stopped here while in Duluth! When my carb loving self saw Duluth’s Best Bread I came running! And so glad I did, the bakery’s items just melted in my mouth. Employee and I exchanged miscommunication on my order and when I went right back in they gave me my correct items at not cost. Definitely the type of atmosphere you want to feel when visiting a location. Beautiful people in a beautiful place 💗

This place is awesome. I had the ham and cheese croissant and it was perfection. Also picked up a dozen cinnamon buns for a client visit and they were fantastic too.

One of My favorite places to grab snacks and freshly baked bread. I train a lot of people that travel to the city for work, and one of the three places I have people go is Duluth's Best Bread. The variety is always great, the quality is always great, and one of the best things about the company in general is it's a small business that continues to evolve and grow to both meet the need of its patrons and the bakery world in general. They very often really it's new products that impress, they have subscription service that allows you to taste test some of their products and development. I think the best part about the company is their constant drive to improve on what they have and slowly add additional items that are vetted beforehand. Their staff are all incredibly passionate about the items they are selling as well, which really speaks to both the company and the product. Could not recommend them more!

From warm whole loaves of bread to sweet or savory pastries, Duluth’s Best Bread has cornered the Lake Superior market on baked goods. There’s an insatiable aroma while you’re walking in (amongst the humorous artwork poking front at Parisian boulangeries), followed by a bright display of colorful breads and pastries. As a first time customer, one of the staff did not leave me astray and recommended a delightfully crisp strawberry danish and a multigrain loaf to go. Bright, aromatic, pleasant, and affordable, Duluth’s Best Bread is an approachable bakery producing top quality foods.

We stopped here for a coffee and pastry before a day of exploring the city. My oat milk cappuccino was good and so was my chocolate croissant. My dad loved his caramel roll and we got a couple loaves of bread to bring home. They don't have the best tea selections, but they do have local kombucha.

Pastries were ok. I felt like they could have baked a little longer or something. The chocolate croissants felt dense on the bottom and very greasy from the butter. Either the lamination went wrong or in the bake and the layers seemed off. Most of it was just all right. I wasn’t blown away. But love that they started small and have multiple locations.

Ran in on a rainy Sunday afternoon for a loaf of cranberry wild rice. They were out of fresh but had a frozen day old available 😊. Very friendly and accommodating. Also talked myself into buying a loaf cheese curd bread (my son’s new favorite). We ate the whole 1lb loaf before bedtime. Toast or microwave and add butter 😋. We’ll be back, for sure 👍🏻

Yelp
I've been to their original location to pick up bread before but had to stop by their new cafe to grab a baguette. It's a very cute cafe with coffee, treats, and cafe sandwiches. They've got a rotating selection of macarons, breads, pastries, and drinks. The staff were super welcoming and quick to go through my order. Their pastries and bread are all excellent and I highly recommend both to anyone.

Yelp
Duluths best bread rules. Their croissants are to die for. Friendly service, and a great vibe to hangout in! Love in the summer when they open up the big garage door. GO HERE AND EXPERIENCE LIFE TO THE FULL. :)
