My brother and I visited this restaurant last night with high expectations, but we left feeling deeply disappointed due to what I can only describe as blatant differential treatment. It was disheartening to experience a level of service that felt like a double standard based on our background--especially coming from a fellow member of the Asian community.
The server, an Asian woman in her 50s with short hair, was nearly invisible to us. Aside from bringing water at the start, she completely ignored our table. She never mentioned that we should order via the QR code; we had to figure that out ourselves. Meanwhile, she was incredibly attentive to all the non-Asian guests, proactively offering refills and takeout boxes with a smile. We had to call her multiple times just to get her attention, and she only looked our way after a kitchen staff member intervened.
To make matters worse, the food was a letdown. The 'signature' pan-fried buns were lukewarm, thick-skinned, and clearly not fresh. I even found a piece of a wire scrub in my beef noodles. Although she did replace the noodles quickly, the overall lack of hospitality was jarring. Despite the poor service, we remained polite and still left an 18% tip, but honestly, the experience was a huge letdown. We came for the reputation, but we won't be returning. I don’t want to call it discrimination because it would be too sad to us.
