Google
Tried it for the first time today and it was amazinggg. Hidden gem in the mall food court. We tried the beef rice bowl and the fried crispy chicken rice bowl. The chicken was crispy and the spices blended together so well. The beef bowl was also some of the best ive tried. The guys at the front were really nice and helpful with what to recommend too.

Google
N4 is so good. If they can use rice noodles it will be even better. Eat the fired chicken before the soup makes it soggy.

Google
I didn't expect to find food this good at a food court! The dumplings here are amazing. So hard to decide which I liked more, steamed or pan fired, they were both so good. Pan fried cost a little extra and adds a nice crispy texture but steamed was clean (sans oil) and tasted very fresh. The crispy chicken soup noodle hits the spot on a cold day. It very flavorful and the noodles were served firm (the way I like it!). They give you a very generous portion of chicken. I left stuffed!

Google
A hidden gem in the Newport mall food court serving authentic Chinese/Taiwanese noodles and dumplings. I don’t understand how this place has a rating under 4 stars. 🤷🏻‍♂️ We ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, chicken “juicy” (soup) dumpling, and spicy wontons. The noodle soup was rich in flavor, the noodles had a lovely chew, and the beef portion was substantial and great texture. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Beef Noodle and roasted duck noodle tast good with both meat and noodle.

Google
I order the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and the Soy eggs. Both of them are authentically prepared. The portion of the beef and vegetables are very generous. Noodles are handmade and cooked to Al Dente style, which is perfect for this type of soup. Soy eggs are nicely flavored and taste fresh.

Google
A not-so-secret gem at the food court in Newport mall. The Taiwanese beef noodles always hit the spot, with huge chunks of tender beef and fresh bok choy. A close second are the pork chop noodles, with a super rich, milky soup and crispy pork cutlet. I also love their rendition of 卤肉饭 braised pork rice which mixes in bits of firm tofu and mushrooms. At $15/bowl, this is a perfect quick meal and I’m always satisfied and happy!

Google
This was located in the food court of the Newport Mall. IMHO, they had the best Taiwanese beef noodle soup in downtown JC and Newport area. The beef was tender with a good mix of meat and tendon. The broth was flavorful and the noodles were al dente. Ironically, their dumplings were not that good given the eatery’s name. We didn't like the color and texture of the dumpling wrappers and the shrimp fillings were only ok.

Yelp
Beef noodle soup is SO good. Minced pork bowl is pretty good. I'm so grateful for this spot since it's hard to find Taiwanese food around the area!! Would never have thought that such delicious food would exist in a mall, but it does. I come here every time I'm craving Taiwanese food and it hits the spot every time.

Yelp
We have been living in JC for quite some time but had never tried this place up until last week. The food here is absolutely amazing! We came back this weekend because we couldn't stop thinking about how great the food was. We tried the Vietnamese beef noodle soup which is FULL OF FLAVOR! The portions are amazing for the price. It's full of beef, fresh noodles and fresh veggies. What more could you ask for? We also tried the pork buns which are my boyfriends favorite. The pork is so meaty! We also tried the chive and pork dumplings that they recommended. They were pan fried and were SO good! You've got to try this place if you haven't had a chance! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I thought I reviewed Dumpling Cafe. To quote Reagan, "my heart and my best intentions tell me that's true, but the facts and evidence tell me it is not." It's great to have flavors like this at the mall, especially on a snowbound sort of day. I've previously enjoyed the fried pork chop, roast duck and spicy chili wontons, and tonight I liked the spicy beef hot pot. The fire level was a solid medium that was great for me (keep in mind I'm not one of those people who memorize Scoville scales).

Yelp
Mall food courts don't generally carry a good reputation, and Newport is no exception. Dumpling Cafe stands out, much like Kaya did in years past. Wanting a quick lunch but lighter than the fried fare at Chick Fil A, Shake Shack, or Popeyes, I got an order of steamed veggie dumplings and, because I can never pass it up when it's on the menu, an order of takoyaki. The dumpling wrappers were a bit doughier than expected, but the filling had a nice gingery hit. The takoyaki were excellent: crisp, fried balls of batter surrounding chewy octopus and scallion with a not too sweet sauce. All that's missing is a swipe of kewpie mayo

Yelp
Excited to try after all the good reviews but really not sure where that comes from. Everything left much to be desired.

Yelp
Ordered the spicy beef hot pot and they failed miserably. How do they sleep at night charging over $14 for this hot mess. There was literally 3 pieces of beef and just a bowl full of bland noodles. This is garbage!

Yelp
We had a day after wedding get together at our place and the original plan was to order some soup dumplings as a side, since they are typically a crowd pleaser. We ordered from Dumpling Cafe when we found out our usual Hoboken soup dumpling spot didn't open until 5 pm on Mondays. We got 7 orders of the pork soup dumplings. Each order comes with 5 pieces and they're each served in its own little tin pan, which really helps keep the dumpling intact. Everyone loved it, especially the presentation (since other places typically just serve it all in a plastic container. They were the first apps to be devoured. I wouldn't mind getting some more soup dumplings from here again. I also saw they have roast pork on the menu, and I'm intrigued since there aren't any good Chinese BBQ places in the Hoboken/JC area.

Yelp
I was definitely excited to stop by Dumpling Cafe. There are so many food options within the Newport mall, but Dumpling Cafe really stood out. The lady was nice and the menu was easy to read. Sadly didn't order dumplings because I wasn't in the mood, so I'll be sure to try that next time! I opted for the BBQ pork rice bowl. The meat was so flavorful and the bok choy was incredibly fresh. There was definitely a lot of white rice so I saved some for later. Also, decided to order a scallion pancake which had a savory dipping sauce. For a location with a mall, Dumpling Cafe surpassed my expectations. Will definitely try to swing it next time I'm at the mall!

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by their options offered considering they are in a mall. I ordered a duck rice bowl and I thought it was ok. I liked the veggies, and the portion was decent. But the duck meat ratio was a little off. The amount of duck pieces was nice, but the pieces were mostly boney which is where it was not as satisfying. It also makes it more difficult to eat out and about in a mall or for a casual lunch with others. I think I would overlook the difficulty eating and the bone to meat ratio of the pieces i got if the meat texture was better but it was pretty chewy. maybe it was an off day or maybe I need to try something else next time. They have a lot of potential with their offerings so I'm holding out hope.

Yelp
I have ordered from dumpling cafe numerous times now and my first order was the best one. Juicy pork dumplings are good but they have become more doughy and less juicy since then (back in January 2022). The packaging is perfect, they come neatly packed in separate small pans. I have ordered soup dumplings at least 10 times I think and I never had an issue with a dumpling falling apart or torn dumpling wrappers. Pork chive and basil chicken dumplings are great ! I loved the spicy cilantro, garlic and scallion sauce as well (it's for a $1.50 but worth a try). Also try their pork dumplings fried (they are incredibly tasty but too oily at the same time) Some of the things I have observed are that they tend to get your order mixed up sometimes (I have been given basil chicken in place of pork chive and vice versa a couple times but as I ended up liking both it wasn't an issue for me). I have tried their BBQ pork and shrimp tempura rice bowls but I was not impressed with those. Not enough food for the price of rice bowls. and not much flavor. I have stuck to ordering dumplings since. Definitely recommend this for dumplings !

Yelp
This is the second time my husband and I have eaten here. It hits the spot each time. Tastes very authentic and I think it is worth the buck. We always get the roasted duck rice noodle soup. The broth alone is so flavorful. There are a lot of choices in the mall but I would go back here everytime!

Yelp
The best beef noodle ever!!!! I also love their soup dumplings. Just try, you won't regret!

Yelp
Highly recommend trying if you're dinning in the Newport mall food court. Their dumplings are delicious! You can get them steamed or pan fried (+$1). You cant go wrong either way, they are both good! I'm also a fan of their Taiwanese beef noodle soup and their fried crispy chicken that they offer on both noodle soup and rice bowls. The spicy sauce is also worth trying if you like a little heat but hate that they charge $1.50 for that.

Yelp
So far the Best Chicken Dumplings in Jersey City. It has Flavor and Textures. So Good! Ugh!

Yelp
Got to the mall and hadn't been there in COVID-whenever. I'm a sucka for dumplings and if it's done wrong, I'll hate them forever. So of course I had to try them. Got a deal with 10 dumplings and a soda for 1 price. Got 5 with beef and 5 with pork & cabbage. Tasted my friend's food: soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, and a bowl of goodniss with chicken, egg, rice, & pickled veggies. It's a mall. It's not in NYC Chinatown. I wasn't expecting 'goodniss beyond' & that's exactly what I got. My dumplings were perfectly fried, the filling well-seasoned and had quality meat, in packaging that absorbed any extra oil, yet kept them crispy-edged. The soup dumplings were done perfectly, and in lil light foil cups that keep that soup broth/filling captured. The scallion pancakes were great, the perfect crunch and the perfect size & amount of chives. But that bowl of food!? ugh. I want to go back and order them all. So much effort put on that chicken, and the outer crunch worth a 'chewing yes nod'. I saw the pickled veggies in that bowl and knew this place was legit. It was then I went to get the menu. I don't think delivery would keep things perfect, but I would definitely make a trip to the mall using this place as an excuse to pig out Chinatown style before waddling back to my car.

Yelp
Service was really late and duck bowl dish was tough. Dumpling's were pretty good. I won't be ordering again.

Leelee R.

Yelp
The beef noodle soup tastes decent. Marinated pork with rice was good at first but soon became too salty and greasy and I couldn't finish. The fried chicken was just soggy... sour and spicy soup came for free with the marinated pork with rice, I probably won't ever order it by itself now that I tried it. Overall the food are all just mediocre and if you are a picky eater there's a good chance you leave your meal unfinished. On the good side though, the food was very affordable and probably costs 12~15 per person. There are not that many Chinese food options in JC so it doesn't hurt to just try it out or eat it as a casual meal.

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect from Chinese food at the mall. But I was pleasantly surprised by their delicious Taiwanese beef noodles. The broth was perfect, tasted very authentic and hearty. The beef was tender and cooked perfectly. And there was some pickled veggies + bok choy for crunch! I would recommend it :)

Yelp
I stopped by here on opening week and was excited to see this place was already getting busy. I ordered the Fried Crispy Chicken Rice Bowl which comes with your choice of bottled water or Hot and Sour soup. The Fried Crispy Chicken was deliciously crispy and tasty, so that was a great surprise! My fiance ordered the Fried Crispy Chicken Noodle soup and would recommend it as well! Opening a new business in these unforeseen times can be quite scary and hectic, but the service was good and COVID-19 precautions were taken such as frequent hand-washing and wearing masks. The food took about 25 minutes to prepare, but well worth it and it was their opening week. Good service and great food. I've already went three times in the last two weeks!

Yelp
Really surprised to find great soup dumplings inside Newport Mall. They might just be the best soup dumplings I've had in Jersey City and Soup packaged so smartly - in little tin foil trays that travel well if you need to take your food on the go. Highly recommend for a quick and flavorful meal in the mall.

Yelp
Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. The beef noodle soup gave me China street food vibes. The cashier was a really nice lady as well. The broth was warming and tasty. The meat was tender and juicy. No complaints really.

Yelp
I knew this place already had 5 stars so I casually ordered the chive and pork dumpling 10pc.... Immediately came back to order 2 more full orders of different types, total 20pc more. I was blown away, couldn't stop eating. Damn you guys rock

Navarra-lee G.

Yelp
So here's the thing....the food is super good.... Here's the issue don't eat here unless you are willing to risk your health. We just placed an order and as we were waiting we witnessed all employees touch and served food without gloves on. They grabbed from the garnishes by they I mean multiple employees and served the food to multiple customers. On top of that they touched all surfaces with there hands that touched all of the food and surfaces.... Also witnessed one employee touch raw meet with his bare hands....and the end all be all is the dirty bowl being thrown on-top of the raw meat.

Sam S.

Yelp
The Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup is tremendous. If you need to have a gluten free diet like myself, you can get it with rice noodles

Guanxiong X.

Yelp
The pork chop noodle is actually really good. Came back for that the next day. Good portion, lots of veggies, just do not get the dumplings.

Anna J.

Yelp
I ordered the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup and a side of scallion pancake unsure of what to expect from a mall eatery but I thought it was fitting for this grey rainy day. It didn't take long to receive my order. I carried my order to the table and prepared to tuck into this soup. I uncovered the bowl and the sweet warm scent of star anise immediately hits me and at that moment I knew this was going to be good. It was better than good. The broth was deep, dark, and rich. The beef shank was meltingly tender. The noodles had just the right bite, so did the baby bok choy that topped off the bowl. As I tucked into the soup I couldn't help but think, "Papa (my dad) would have liked this". The scallion pancake was good too. It was cooked well, perfectly crispy and not oily at all. I'm used to scallion pancakes being served with a dipping sauce. This one did not come with it. I thought to ask the server but I decided to dip it in the broth instead. It was too good to throw away. I hope you guys try this place out. I don't come to the mall often so I hope the next time I'm visit they'll still be here. Looking forward to trying the dumplings next!

Yelp
The dumplings here were so good I literally could not stop talking about it, definitely recommend. Excited to try more from their menu!

Yelp
New place I've never seen before at the mall. Excellent dumpling selection and my wife tried the noodle soup. I hope this place withstands covid because it's a much better option than Panda Express. The family that runs this place is super sweet and thanked me for my patronage and I'm just a sucker for great customer service. Fried chicken bites were tasty as well. Good luck you guys!!!

Wei H.

Yelp
Dumpling Cafe has one of the most authentic Taiwanese/Chinese food in the Jersey City. I've been eating there every week since I moved to the area, and the food the been consistently fresh and delicious. The price is also very low for what they offer. The owners are also very friendly. I'll definitely continue to support this business.

Maria F.

Yelp
Really good food, it's come to the point I've been grabbing dinner here every other day and I'm not ashamed . Try their Taiwanese beef noodle soup, duck or the popcorn chicken. You won't regret it!!!
google avatar

Grace H.

Yelp
Really good food. Ordered pork with rice and veggies with a side of chili oil which was bomb. Even the rice was tasty. Cost too much to deliver so next time I'll be picking up.
google avatar

Yelp
My family bought these dumplings for takeout yesterday from Newport Mall and these dumplings are very tasty and it's a very good dumpling place at a mall food court and they also offer noodles and rice bowls along with dumplings and you can also buy the dumplings frozen to be cooked at home.

Resident L.

Yelp
Had the fried chicken rice bowl twice now and really enjoy it, very flavorful chicken. Also tried the hot chili dumpling, not bad at all. Will definitely come back and try the other items on the menu.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE if you're in the mall and are craving some authentic Chinese food. I got the Minced Marinated Pork Rice Bowl and it was incredible! It's not the usual minced pork. It comes with delicate pork belly mixed in and you get Chinese picked veggies on the side as well. My boyfriend got the Fried Crispy Chicken Rice Bowl, and it also blew our minds. The chicken has such an interesting coating, and the flavor really pops as you bite into all the crunchy goodness. This is the best mall food I've had in a long time. They just recently opened and their quality is amazing and the prices are right. Don't miss out :)

Philip M.

Yelp
This place has no right being this good. Its located inside the Newport mall food court and the food HITS!!! Def try their fried chicken it is extremely good and crispy. Their staff is super friendly. I will be coming again
