I am sad… there used to be a location in Kendall Sq. I used to get the veggie dumplings and frozen packages all the time. On uber eats there’s this buy 1 get 1 free deal for the buns. I was excited since I haven’t gotten their stuff since 2022-2023 I am not sure what changed. It was like I went to the store and baked them or microwaved them? They were definitely not steamed or had the texture of a steamed bun. It definitely was like untoasted bread. No rise. What happened to the vegetable buns I swear they used to be green and had more than cabbage and carrots? Sad to say it was an expensive and disappointing take-out night. 9/10 would not recommend unless you’re in a bind and you can’t go to a store to buy frozen ones. Would of preferred to received them frozen, I would of been able to actually steam them. 🫣☹️ I gave 5 for atmosphere because at least I was at home. I gave an overall 1 for effort.

This place is really good. The dumplings are a great size and seared nicely, I wish the dough was a bit thinner. The noodles are a great portion and seasoned/spiced well. The buns are full and soft. The scallion pancakes are good but super thin: good if you're into that. The spring rolls are flavored well and the insides are cut and cooked nicely but they are a bit too oily. The brussels are delightful. I look forward to going back.

I’ve heard so many good things about this place, so I was a bit disappointed. The food was just okay. The service was super fast, though! I got veggie dumplings pan fried. The filling was good. It had good texture and taste. Sadly there was a lot more oil that I expected. I do expect some oil with pan fried dumplings, but this was a ton.

The food is okay if you are looking for something like the Chinese version of KFC or McDonald's. The Dan Dan Mien is good. But others were just okay. The skin of dumpling was too chewy. The bun was not warm enough. The environment is modern and clean. Hope the food would be better.

Portions were small and the only good tasting thing was the pork buns which were actually really good. The Dan Dan noodles just weren’t it…tasted like a weird, very aggressive, expired peanut flavor. Not Dan Dan noodles at all. Ended up not even eating it. But the staff was nice and online ordering was good.

I wasn't blown away by this place, but it is solid and likely worth checking out some of the other things on the menu. I got the veggie dumplings with sauce. I would've liked the dumplings to be more crispy, but the sauce was very flavorful. Nice, clean, bright decor. I think worth another try down the road for something different on the menu.

I love dumpling daughter! After walking by this location a few times I am glad we finally tried it. They have a good selection of vegan options and the food is very tasty! The prices were good too! The only thing I didn't like was the buns, they were just a little too bready for my taste. I love that they add golden raisins to the fried rice.

Best dumplings I've ever had. Delicious through and through. My friend and I were talking, and I had to stop talking because the food was too good. I didn't want to be distracted. They sell a cookbook with all their recipes, and the day we were there, they were hosting a dumpling-making class.

My partner and I got the farm raised chicken cutlet Taiwanese buns, pan-seared pork & napa cabbage dumplings, pan-seared vegetable dumplings in spicy chili peppercorn sauce, and dan dan mien noodles - TASTE: 4/5 - really enjoyed the well-seasoned chicken cutlet, paired w tonkatsu sauce and pickled radish. For me, the pork & cabbage dumplings were more tasty and satisfying than the veggie dumplings. Wish the noodles were spicier, but enjoyed the creamy taste TEXTURE: 4/5 - the soft, pillowy buns, fried chicken cutlet, and crisp pickled radish were great in the buns. The mustard greens were a nice touch to the minced pork in the noodles PRICE: 4/5 - total came out to $44 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - good portions for lunch SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at noon on a Monday and only a few tables were occupied. Food is mediocre. Tried their scallion lo mein, scallion pancake and beef/onion bun and the best part of everything was the dough of the bun. The noodles did t have much flavor. I personally prefer scallion pancakes with more scallions in them and the ones here were mostly dough. The filling to dough ratio of the bun was pretty good. The service was quick otherwise and there was plenty of seating when I went which was nice.

A few things I did not know. This is a review for the South Boston restaurant.. It is primarily takeout with a counter space with 3 chairs to eat your food. It is the same dumplings that are Dumpling Daughter brand in the frozen food section of your grocery store. It's a limited offering on the menu but I checked it out before arriving. Came today first time. Vegetarian dumpling was a disappointment, doughy and lacking flavor. Noodle dish with 3.00 extra for vegetables was good. It was much better as a leftover later at home at room temperature. The flavors came out. Spring roll just ok, lacking flavor more oily than expected. The beef bun was reportedly good. Splitting the noodle dish and a beverage it came out to 35.00 for 2. Was enough food. Not sure I would go back. As the dumplings I saw in their kitchen were premade frozen. Service was fast at the counter and 15 min. Wait for the food. 2 workers too many. Not sure they know the condiments. No ambiance here it's take out. With many other dumpling restaurants to try I'll pass on coming back. I can find Dimpling Daughter in the grocery store, why bother?

Great dumpling place that makes for a good appetizer/snack place or you can just go full on dumplings as your main course. ATMOSPHERE/ARCHITECTURE: 8/10 Cute little shop inside that is a casual laid back place that is good for a small group to come and hang out. SERVICE: 10/10 I'll comment on their delivery primarily since I have had a really outstanding experience with delivery with them. Everything was packaged neatly in little takeout containers and not only that, but they were nicely labelled as well. I cannot count the number of times I have ordered from other dumpling places and just gotten a sack of dumplings all mixed together. A surprise in each bite I guess. But not here! Bravo! FOOD: 9/10 I thought overall, the food was quite good. I'll highlight a few dishes. BBQ Pork Bun - 10/10 - One of the best pork buns that I have had. Most of the time, the wrapping of the bun is dry and kind of flaky, but here, it was steamed perfectly and the bun was moist, and not only that, but the internal filling was delicious. Pork & Cabbage / Pork & Chive Dumplings - 8/10 - Flavorful and as advertised. These were good and what one would expect from a dumpling place. It's not set apart from anywhere else, but that does not make them bad either. Chinese Eggplant & Garlic - 7/10 - One of my favorite traditional Chinese dishes. The flavor was there for this with just the right amount of heat. It was just a bit too oily, which I know it is typically oily, but this was on the heavier side for sure. VALUE: 8/10 Decent. PROBABILITY OF RETURN: 9/10 TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT: Eat. OVERALL: 9/10

The food here is great, butthe service here gave me pause yesterday afternoon. The young woman at the counter was so easily confused. I asked for soy sauce and she seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. It's a Chinese restaurant! Soy sauce!! Then, since the soy sauce wasn't salty , I asked for some salt. Once again, she was completely flustered and had no idea what I was talking about. Somebody very kindly poured me a little cup of what I later realized was sugar. They were very nice and apologetic about it amd offered me a refund. I told them it was okay because the dumplings really hadn't been that bad with sugar on them. But really, you should not have someone at the front counter who cannot handle simple, normal requests like that.

It's a casual place with a few tables and self-service water. The menu isn't very large and overall on the cheaper side than other places. I ended up getting the organic tofu bowl, and it was just okay. Nothing too special and slightly salty and spicy. For this bowl, I paid a little under $14, which seems expensive for what it really is. Not sure I'll be going back, but if you need something quick, you can check this place out.

Ordered the chicken dumplings pan seared.... No taste, like cardboard, small size, minimal filling, tasted previous frozen ... Trader Joes frozen dumplings next store over better taste and value ... 8.20 with tax Biden Shrink flation of size of dumplings not worth the grief ... listened to workers talking loud in Spanish non stop while waiting... ambiance was that of a Spanish flea market haggling and left me with headache vs. soothing Chinese music...or silence

They have street parking, and I came in during lunch hour. First entering the restaurant, it looked nice, with a lot of articles hang on the walls about the owners, how successful the restaurant is and how they started the business. It is self severed, where you order, pay upfront and clean up by yourself. The cashier was super nice and friendly. We ordered - pan fried pork dumplings: tasted likes the one I can bought at any Trader Joe's. Definitely not $9 quality. You will need to ask for chili oil on the side if you want spicy. -Dan Dan mien: the noodle didn't cover evenly with the toppings. I tried to mix it as well as possible. But the noodle was too oily, yet not absorbed the meat topping. It just feel like they are two separate components got throw together as a dish. -Salmons rice bowl: this was just sad. The rice under neath the salmon topping was cold and hot at the same time. Some spots cold, some spots hot. It presented the rice was microwaved and not in a thorough way. Again, the flavor was not there. The salmon was too blain. With the same amount of money, I can go to the Chinatown and get the freshly made dumplings instead of the store-bought flavors one.

Charming spot with delicious food! I'm always delighted to see a menu that clearly states it is a no-nut facility, so peanut and cashew allergic people rejoice!!! Lost one star, though, for not knowing whether other allergens could be present in the food outside of the top 8. They do have a helpful binder cross referencing top 8 allergies with food choices, which is great for sesame, gluten, etc. For something as random as sunflower seeds the staff couldn't tell me anything. Took the risk and it was fine. The ambiance is pleasant and there's a nice self serve area with water, utensils, napkins, and extra plates. I liked how you could recycle the chopsticks! Food was seriously so delicious, although the dumpling donuts didn't live up to whatever hype we expected. They just tasted like donuts. We got bubble tea in watermelon and lychee, both tasted great, but it was really the various dumplings that hit the spot. While they have coupons for door dash delivery, it's hard to imagine it would taste better than fresh off the pan in the restaurant. I'll definitely be back!

The food is subpar and the service after requesting a substitute was poorly received. We tried the noodle dishes and thought something was off with both the flavor and sauce distribution. Regardless, we tried to persevere with the rest of the bowl. Shortly after we came to the conclusion that the beef noodle dish was just not good, we asked the workers at the counter if an option to swap the dish for another was possible if we can't be issued a refund. We thought that they would be understanding since only 1/4th of the dish was eaten. However, after going back and forth trying to explain to them that the dish was just not good including the sauce, they told us that they would make a new one and that we can "pour the sauce" ourselves. A stressful response that led to a mental breakdown (reference picture). Would not recommend and would rather spend money at a real Asian restaurant.

I was pleasantly surprised by Dumpling Daughter. I came in with low expectations, assuming it would be an American, fast food version of dumplings, but the flavors were actually really great! I preferred the noodles to the actual dumplings though. For a restaurant named after a dish, you'd expect that dish to be the star! The dumplings just weren't anything special to me and tasted kind of like packaged dumplings from the super market. The noodles were delicious though! The perfect amount of meat to noodle ratio and flavor was great! I wouldn't choose to come here again but would be great for a quick snack. Service staff was so friendly and the seating was very inviting and open.

I went to Dumpling Daughter last week located on 1309 Beacon St, Brookline, MA. This cantonese spot features a great variety of dumplings, bao buns, noodles and more! For a starter we had their crispy brussels sprouts which had soy, kewpie and sirracha. These were cooked to perfection and were so tasty 10/10 (seriously I could not stop eating them!). For dumplings we had their pork and napa cabbage dumplings 7/10. For bao buns we had their traditional beef and minced onion 7/10. If you haven't had bao buns before I highly recommend! So pillowly and delicious. Under their snack section we tried their luxe crab rangoons made with real crab 7/10. If you love crab this one is a must try! For noodles we had Grandma's beijing meat sauce over spaghetti which had lean pork, bird bean curd, bean paste and cucumber 6/10. For rice bowls we got the farm raised chicken katsu which had a crispy chicken cutlet, tonkatsu sauce, kewpie, tomato, cucumber and pickled radish. The chicken was so juicy and cooked to perfection 9/10! Finally, the taiwanese bun containing the farm raised chicken with crispy chicken and pickled radish was amazing 9/10. I found the chicken dishes off this menu to be superior to the rest! I will be going back to have one again! Dumpling Daughter also has locations in Cambridge and Weston. Check them out if you are looking for a quick bite to eat. Food: 8/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Affordability: 8/10

Great casual spot to grab dumplings, buns, and noodles! My favorite thing to get there is the buns and brussels sprouts, despite the name of the place haha. The staff is also friendly and helpful giving recommendations.

The veggie dumplings at Trader Joe's would have been better. The dumplings were flavorless and falling apart. I only ate them because I didn't have anything else and had paid for them.

Here with my bf, visiting Boston from ATL. We were just grabbing something small to hold us over until dinner, but was super filling. I thought my bowl was bottomless. (Haha) Good noodles, great dumplings. Thank you

Sad to see that this place has become what my son said 'seemed like cheap fast food.' Quality of the food has gone down, salad was strange, lots of lettuce and cold chicken toppings. Pork buns ok, scallion pancake OK. Service bad. Guy at register couldn't find what I ordered on register initially and was just rude when food was brought to table. That will be my last visit.

Super creative and tasty menu (thus far - I gotta try it all!) Got the Spicy Chili Lo Mein and Chicken Dumplings - both are great but would only have as a rare occasion meal - but too much for a weekly thing, at least for me.

Having first learned about Dumpling Daughter from an NPR show featuring the owner and her mom, and having been eagerly anticipating checking it out, I was beside myself with how appalling the food was. No one's mother (or grandmother) makes this kind of food-- I implore the owner to come in, order the dishes I had (below) for herself and, in good faith, assess whether the food matches the vision. The food was an embarrassment belied by the streamlined, cozy decor and the accolades on the wall. We ordered pan-seared pork and cabbage dumplings, pan-seared dumplings in sauce, and the double-seared Shanghainese dumplings. Each of these was absolutely bland and the texture was reminiscent of frozen supermarket potstickers. I have never had dumplings with such appalling texture and bland flavor anywhere before-- even the most mediocre spots in China Town would be preferable to this. We also tried Grandma's Beijing Meatsauce over noodles, which was lacking any dimension or spiciness. Actually, none of the dishes had any spice to them at all. Sadly, the chicken wings were the only passable part of the meal. It felt as though Dumpling Daughter took a cuisine and tried to turn it into an Americanized fast food chain of sorts-- heavy on the marketing but absolutely reductionist and bland. Yet, it wasn't priced to be fast food (we paid about $50). I was left perplexed because nothing about our meal related to the sweet story about making her mother's dumplings that the owner shared in the segment I'd heard. I am disappointed and shocked.

This place was totally not worth it. Service was terrible. Came here before a date to have dinner and it was well before closing but the workers told us it was to go only, and we ubered 30 minutes to get there. There were plenty of open tables but they were too lazy to let us sit down even though it was raining outside. Also, the cashier asked if I wanted sauce and charged me for it without clarifying that each tiny plastic container of sauce was $1 extra. Boyfriend is vegan and they have vegan options but the cashier had no idea what we were talking about. Plus, the food was very bland. Mid at best. Would've been a little better if we weren't forced to eat out in the rainy cold. There are places with bad service that are way better than this. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a welcoming, enjoyable experience.

I came here alone and I ordered the steamed buns and dumplings. Since I was the only one, they just took my order and I sat down by myself. The dumplings came out first and it was mediocre. It almost taste like the frozen dumplings I buy. The skin was too thick. Bun was dry and also mediocre. I could get this at somewhere else for cheaper and tastier. I would not come back. It was $20 wasted.

Ordered the basic pan fried dumpling and it was literally tasteless added hot chili oil which was not hot but just oily. Would not recommend, much better dumplings to be had in this neighborhood. Restaurant was spotless and staff was great.

Their marketing is impressive but their take out tastes like heated frozen food. The service is kind though but besides good marketing and service, the food is lacking.

Dumpling daughter is a great casual spot for good dumplings and noodles. The prices are pretty reasonable as well. The menu had a variety of things like baos, rice bowls, steamed buns, and more. The noodles I got were only 11 dollars and were a good portion. Food comes out fast. I will definitely be coming here again. Very comforting and delicious!

i was worth a try . everything is hosed in sauce to disguise to taste I guess of the products. Its not that cheap. I won't tgo there again. Its not worth the money

A bit of a miss here.... While the restaurant space was welcoming and the staff was friendly and efficient, the food was unimpressive. All three of us, did not dislike our food but found it pretty bland and flavorless. With all of the outstanding Asian options in the nearby vicinity, I am not sure I would go back here.

A very basic introduction to Szechuan food. Flavors not there! I'm from California and can tell you this place can do way better! Got the spicy chicken dumplings: very weak, the spicy sauce was actually sweet! The noodles were also very Americanized. That being said, the staff and service is great!

I went to get takeout from this place in Coolidge Corner. After trying Dumpling Daughter in Weston, I had high hopes that this would be a good meal. I ordered the Coco's rollup, braised pork belly buns, vegetable spring rolls, and the pan seared pork and cabbage dumplings. Although the spring rolls were good and crispy, it was drenched in oil. The pork in the pork belly buns were not tender at all. The Coco's rollup was a scallion pancake wrap with beef shank and hoisin sauce. The wrap was just slathered with hoisin sauce. It was way too sweet. The only thing decent were the pork dumplings. It was a disappointing meal...

Restaurant: Cute place and very modern set up. Just enough room to order with the kitchen leading down the back area and middle to front of store is filled with plenty of seating! The Staff is welcoming and very kind. Food: Plenty of variety on their menu all kinds of spice levels, or none for those who don't like any and vegetarian option! Must try their bubble tea its absolutely refreshing and a delicious alternative to the normal coke but they have that too! We got a lychee and Chai tea bubble tea, a couple dumplings (petite chicken szechuan and shrimp), chicken katsu and dessert dumplings. Can't wait to come back!

Tasty and fresh. Was not wow'd but wasn't disappointed. I would eat them again. I like the pan fry to be cooked a little more and the filling to have a little more flavor.

If I could sum up a place succinctly, it would be: Dumplings and buns: good. Noodles and everything else: meh.

This was our first time eating here, we were so glad we gave it a try. This is going to be a destination I go back to often, when I'm traveling to Boston for work. The restaurant is low frills, but the food was really good. I was impressed by the quality and taste since it was not a nice sit down dim sum restaurant. If you want quality dumplings, noodles, fried rice, etc without the long sit down experience and higher prices, I'd suggest you try this out! I'll be back for sure.

Food: Honestly, I'm not impressed. Their marketing efforts are amazing though, like all of their pics look good, their social media is pretty, every time I would go to Trader Joe's I'd be like DAMN I want dumplings. The portions are SMALL for what you pay, the flavors are very meh overall. Nothing really stood out to me tbh. Store: Location is fun, I used to go to the Trader Joe's next door everytime.

It's fine if you don't have much time and is in need of a dumpling or noodle fix. But definitely feels very Americanized- an elevated version of Panda Express basically. I do love that they have a good variety of dumplings, buns and noodles. Pros: good portion size, noodles are filling. Cons: Dumping skin felt a bit hard, they use the store bought ones, not handmade. Wonton soup- didn't have many wontons. It was mostly noodles.

We ordered food to go, for three people. We had both steamed and fried Bao style stuffed with pork, scallion pancake, scallion lo mein, and crab Rangoon. Everything was perfect. Probably one of the best scallion pancakes I've ever had, I don't typically like them much and this was good. Scallion lo Mein was probably the standout. Great noodles and perfect flavor. Order was ready when we were told, food was hot!

Absolutely delighted with every experience at Dumpling Daughter! Couldn't be more grateful that we stumbled upon this gem. The spring rolls and Taiwanese veggie buns are our go-to favorites, a must-have on every visit. Every dish we've explored has been yummy. I have been a long time customer at Dumpling Daughter in Weston. First I was excited to find a Dumpling Daughter in Brookline. Unfortunately it was a terrible disappointment. The staff was totally distracted with a staff birthday party and took at least 15 minutes to get my order started, but then it was ready in two minutes. Service is a failure. Now I understand why they ask for a tip before you get your order. The service did not deserve a tip. One of my favorite Dumpling Daughter dishes has been the pork belly bun. Unfortunately they do not know how to do it. The pork was tough and not flavorful.

Ordered Spicy Chili Lo Mien, Petit Chicken with Slow Cooked Sichuan Sauce and Thai Tea Bubble Tea. All was excellent. Low Mien was thin and a cooked el dente, exactly how I like it, and the spice was just right. I used DoorDash delivery and everything was warm when it arrived.

I had been here once before and LOVED IT! So I've waiting to go back and finally did... but sadly was disappointed. I got the scallion lo mein ($10), and it was just sub par... basically just noodles with not much too them so it wasn't a full meal and costed a lot for not feeling like a meal. My friend got a tofu bowl with rice and she asked for extra bok choy but it only came with two pieces. She also thought the tofu was kind of boring, and not a ton of flavor. Beef and onion bun was delicious and veggie dumplings were sub par. Sadly a little disappointed. Their space is beautiful, and staff super friendly!

Saw this place on Chronicle and decided to try it out. Unfortunately i will not be going back. There was nothing special, in fact the dumplings did not taste very good at all. The Beijing noodle dish was too sweet. Very disappointing.

The food was fine. The bbq pork buns hardly had any filling in them but that's not the thing that irked me about this place. What did was when I was checking out, I was asked if I wanted any hot sauce or chili oil. Since I was picking up food for 4 people I asked for 4 of each. There was no mention of them costing anything or anything like that. Imagine my surprise when I got home I looked at receipt and I see that they freaking charged me $1 EACH for small things of siracha and oil. Absolutely ridiculous and supremely cheap of them. You would think those would be free and even if they weren't, you'd get a heads up that they are gouging you on stupid sauces.

We expected it to be more of a sit down restaurant but it's a fast food restaurant. They got our order together real quick. I assume they have everything ready already and just put things together when you order it. The pork belly was really good and tender. But the shredded pork doesn't go well with the rice. The noodles was flavorful and warm, but it was a really tiny portion. The presentation of the dumplings definitely was disappointing given that they are known for their dumplings. The presentation looks really plain and simple given we dined in.

On first impression the restaurant and menu looked great but we should've taken a hint when no customers were there. The employees seemed like they didn't want to be there and the food took some time to come out. We ordered veggie spring rolls, veggie dumplings, and veggie buns. The veggie buns were decent but tasted bland. The spring rolls were bland and greasy. Instead of veggie dumplings, pork dumpling were brought out to us which I didn't eat due to my food preference. However, my boyfriend had a few pork dumplings and they tasted straight out of the freezer. Not good quality. Sad! Honestly, we both felt a little gross after eating here. I don't recommend going here.

I love everything on the menu but the Brussels sprouts and the katsu chicken bowl are my tried and true favorites.
