9 Splendid Spots for Dim Sum Around Atlanta

"For a counter service takeout joint, they have a sizable selection of traditional Cantonese dim sum items such as hargow, char siu baos, and pork and shrimp siu mai. Add the sheng jian baos and soup dumplings for a unique cross-regional experience. Kids (and adults) will enjoy the robot server experience here. While Dumpling Master already has locations in Peachtree City and Alpharetta, they plan to open five more locations across the state. Open daily. No rolling dim sum carts, but a robot server takes its place. Order by QR code at the table." - Candy Hom

When you come in, you order from the QR code on the table and when you are done eating you pay at the counter. There’s a cute dumpling master mascot you can take a pic with. They also still have up their nice Christmas tree too. The fried rice could have had more flavor. The noodles were slightly too sweet. But overall the food was good! The boba was good too!

Google
Scrumptious! Giant size portions and great flavors. I had pan fried pork and chive dumplings, Shrimp and noodles, mapo tofu, and pork dumplings. This is a self service place. They seat you and then scan the bar code on the table when ready to order. A cute robot delivers the food. A staff member comes around to clean up and make sure everything is fine. Plenty of parking.

The place is clean and has a fun, upbeat vibe to it. The food is delicious and actually tastes authentic (like what I had growing up) and doesn’t taste like straight MSG. The menu has the basics for a dumpling restaurant, but I’d like to see more added as time goes on. Food comes out pretty quickly and is very fresh. The prices are more on the higher end, though I didn’t mind since the quality of food was good. Just for instance, we came in hungry and spent $80 (plus tip) for 2 people, whereas we’d typically spend $50 at other dumpling restaurants in the area. The restaurant is entirely self-serviced, so I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re hoping to have a true sit-down, unwind and dine experience. You scan a QR code to input your order, and you’ll have to grab your own paper and plastic utensils + water. Then a robot will come out with your food. I’m typically a very generous tipper, as I’ve been in the service industry before, but it was hard to rationalize leaving a decent tip since there’s no human service (aside from the cook).

I've been here 2 times within a week because it's so good. The dumplings are fresh and hand made. The bubble tea can be made less sweet if you prefer that too. Such great food.

My friend and I decided to check this place out. We had a wonderful experience here. Firstly, the ambiance of the place was really chill. I liked the concept of ordering through a QR code since you can continously order without having to get a waiter each time. The robots were so cool to see and delivered our food accurately and at a good time. My friend got steamed pork Jian Bao, boba, and sesame balls while I got the Veggie Noodle soup and Veggie potstickers. One aspect of this place is how big the portions are. The prices are pretty reasonable considering the food quantity and quality. My friend liked the pork Jian Bao, which she described as warm and soft. The sesame balls were delicious and not too sweet, and the red bean paste was delicious. My noodle soup was full of veggies and chewy noodles. The flavor was alright, so I do wish that I got the spicy version. However, I think the price is worth it. The highlight for me were the potstickers with their dumpling sauce. It was absolutely delicious and just steamed perfectly. I really appreciate the vegetarian and vegan options. It can be difficult to dine at certain Chinese restaurants due to the lack of vegetarian dishes. But, this place was great, and the staff were attentive. I would recommend this place, espicielly if you want to share food or anything. It's good place for group settings.

This is my first time here and it 100% will not be my last. When you walk in the restaurant there is a window where you can watch the cook make the dumplings right there. After being sat at a table you order by scanning a QR code and order online. The staff is incredibly nice. We ordered various dumplings and salt and pepper chicken wings. We also had 2 drinks oolong milk tea and strawberry smoothie. Everything was fresh and hot and tasted so incredible. My 4 year old loved it all as well, which was a win! We will be coming back soon!

Google
Dumpling Master is a fantastic choice for delicious, authentic Chinese food in the Alpharetta and Milton area. My guest and I ordered Pork Soup Dumplings, Pork Sheng Jian Bao, Edamame, Scallion Pancakes, and the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, all of which were absolutely delicious with fantastic flavor. They're all dishes I would recommend, but Soup Dumplings are hard to find in this area and those are what I'd call a must-try if you haven't before - just carefully lift the dumpling into a soup spoon, bite off the top, drink its contents and eat the dumpling! The restaurant is very clean and well air-conditioned. The staff are very friendly (happy to see I was taking photos for a review!) and helpful if you have any questions about how they work. You place your order through a QR code on the table, and a robot brings you your food once it's ready! You'll pay at the counter when finished and there's plenty of materials for any food that needs to-go. Highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area!

Google
Update - This place has taken a turn for the worse since our first visit when it was quite new. Some of my earlier suggestions were implemented - the robot brought out our entire order (though it took a really long time), the dumplings were easily separable and not clumped together. However, there was way too much corn in the chicken dumplings, the containers with the sauces on the table were messy and not filled, there was a dirty dishes cart left near a table for a really long time, staff seemed disinterested, the boba tea we ordered halfway thru' our meal never arrived - we finally picked it up on the way out. Earlier - 4.5*. Cute new place slightly away from the main Windward corridor. Dumplings - we tried the pan fried chicken ones and steamed pork and chive ones - were good but clumped together. The szechuan chicken stir fry packed a punch. The shanghai noodles were fresh and tasty. We didn't try the drinks. Robot brought out only 1 item at a time and not in the order we wanted. Service is minimal but friendly. Self service station is well stocked. Restaurant is on the smaller side with some outside seating. We'll be back when we crave dumplings.

Yelp
Dumpling Master is a great spot for dumplings and more! Highly recommend the Garlic Green Beans--perfectly seasoned and super flavorful--and the Scallion Pancake, which was crispy and not too greasy. The Soup Dumplings were solid, with a nice balance of broth and filling, and the skins weren't too thick (which I appreciate!). The only downside was the dumpling sauce--it was a bit off for my taste, and I'd recommend asking for more vinegar to balance the flavors. The boba tea was also good, but definitely go for less sugar if you prefer a more balanced sweetness. The experience was smooth and modern--ordering is done on your phone, food is brought out by a robot, and you pay up at the cashier. The portions are great for the price, and parking is easy, which is always a plus. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
I was pretty much the only person when I arrived about 1 pm, but when I left 45 minutes later the dining room was full. I guess I'm a trend maker. It was a very clean and neat place. I was greeted immediately by the staff and permitted to choose any table. The menu contained appetizers, dumplings, stir fry, fried rice, soups, and sandwiches. Lots of variety of dishes, plus the various teas to drink. There is a QR code on the table so you can place your order online, although the staff were there to help if needed. Dishes were delivered from the kitchen by a robot that signals its arrival with a cheerful bell sound. I was surprised and delighted by the robot. My pan-fried pork and cabbage dumplings were delicious. Hot and savory, served with a warm soy sauce. There were also three dipping sauces on the table that I ignored. There were eight dumplings in the order which would be perfect to share if people in a group wanted that in addition to other food. My tea was also great. It came in a tall lidded plastic cup with a boba straw. I liked the cup so much I took it home with me after lunch. The teas allow many options of flavors (fruit or milk based), different types of boba, the amount of sugar and ice you like. I had a fun experience today and I'm glad I gave Dumpling Master a try!

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place out as I kept seeing it all over social media. I do love me a good dumpling, especially when it's closer than Duluth or Midtown. However, this place was a huge let down. The exterior looked nice and new walking up. We entered the restaurant and were led to our table. They handed us a menu, pointed to a QR code on the table and told us to order from there. A bit strange, but we decided to keep going. They brought us both water (no ice) and it was disgusting. I'm not sure if they don't have filtered water or pull it straight from the tap but it was not good, at all. We ordered the pork wonton noodle soup, pork soup dumplings and beef steamed dumplings. The downside to the QR code ordering method was that we did not get service the rest of our visit. They returned maybe once to check on drinks but that was it. We had to get our own utensils and dishes. In fact, there wasn't even a human to deliver our food- it was a robot. I'm not sure how you can expect a service tip when there is not much "service" to be had. We had to order our own food, remove it and send back the robot and we still didn't have the correct utensils. For soup dumplings, you should be given chopsticks and a soup spoon. We were given chopsticks and a normal, metal spoon. If you've ever eaten soup dumplings, you will know that this does not work. My soup was spilling all over the steaming basket and my plate, none of it staying in my dumpling. The whole point of soup dumplings is to drink the soup and I essentially lost it all before it even made it to my mouth. The soup dumplings and steamed dumplings were good, although we had an issue where the meat kept falling out of the dumpling. I will also add that the folds of the dumplings (top creases) were somewhat hard and cold, which usually indicates a frozen dumpling. Frozen dumplings are fine as long as you are not advertising them as fresh. The pork wonton soup was also good. The sauce they gave us to dip our dumplings in was good as well, but there was a hair floating in mine. Yuck. And after we finished eating the meal, my mouth felt brined. All of the food was SOOO salty. Salty to the point that I was uncomfortable after eating and I found myself drinking a lot of water the rest of the night. Overall it was not a bad restaurant but there was much left to be desired. The service was below average and the food was lacking in flavor (besides salt).

Yelp
Decided to give this restaurant a try today and boy was I glad that I did. Went to workout and who doesn't like a good home made steamed dumpling? Yum!

Yelp
The stir fry was good, and the price was reasonable. The lighting was dim and they were playing soft jazz which made it feel cozy. The staff were so nice and I was served by a robot! It really is the future!

Yelp
Great little addition to the area...and I love dumplings-full send! Service was nice and attentive, place was clean since they are new...don't really have any complaints to be honest. Dumplings were made by hand and not frozen-which is a huge plus! Dumpling size was perfect Bok Choy was a little too saucy for me, but the flavor was spot on. Due to extra sauce the crisp and crunch that makes Bok Choy super delish was lost a little. Soup dumplings held together so we didn't any broth to the streamer gods...which anyone that loves soup dumplings knows can be an issue. Would totally eat here again.

Yelp
No fuss eating experience. Self order via QR code, robot machine delivers your order, help yourself with extra plates/bowls/water/utensils. Even the to-go boxes are self serve. I really like this type of settings. Food are delicious. Their spicy noodle soup and Szechuan Chicken are on point. Pecking duck bun are less than average. Favorite drink is orange jasmine.

Yelp
Food was just ok - which was a bummer. Gyoza skin is too thick same as the soup dumpling. The beef fried noodles were awesome. Mistake on their part we were served chive and pork instead of with cabbage gyozas - their mistake but they didn't apologize. Xiao long baos or soup dumplings were just ok. Honestly good flavor but more salty than proper soup dumplings The robots were cute either way serving the food

Yelp
Solid spot if you're craving some non-Alpharetta-typical Chinese food. I tried the spicy pork wonton noodle soup, and it's got some legit heat to it. If you like spicy, go for the spicy variations. The wontons are tasty, and the broth has a nice depth. Definitely a highlight. I also ordered the scallion pancakes, which had a good flavor, but they fell short on texture. They weren't crispy at all, which was but still enjoyable. The service is pretty hands-off -- you order everything through an app at the table, and your food gets delivered via robot... kind of cool but might not be for everyone. Drinks are self-serve, and you pay at the counter when you're done. It's efficient, but if you're looking for more personal interaction, it's not really that kind of place. Overall, good food and a unique experience, but a few small tweaks could make it even better. Seating is relaxed and comfortable with some outdoor tables as well. Happy to see this here.

Yelp
First visit and it did not disappoint! Enjoyed the atmosphere. Very spacious with outdoor seating. To view the menu, you scan a QR code, then place your order from your phone. We ordered the steamed chicken dumplings and BBQ chicken buns. Great chicken portion and very tender. A robot delivers your food which is cool. The staff checked on us to see if we had any questions about the menu and again after the robot delivered our food.

Yelp
We were so excited to drop in after Dumpling Master finally opened! Everyone was very friendly and got us seated right away. Everything's pretty much self-serve. Grab yourself a paper plate, bowl, utensils and place your order via the QR code on the table. A happy little robot comes to bring most of your food, which is a fun little addition to the experience. We got the scallion pancake which we expected to be fluffy, but even though they were thin we really enjoyed them. Especially with a little hot chili! We also got the pan-fried pork dumplings, pork soup dumplings, crispy chicken, beef bao, and pork chashu bun along with some fruit tea. My personal favorite was the soup dumplings, but everything was delicious. We're excited to come back again & try more menu items.

Sarah G.

Yelp
The food here is genuinely so good. I'm glad there's a local place for dumplings now.

Yelp
Omg where's this place been on this side of town? I've literally tried most everything on the menu and it's amazing. The inside is a hip and family friendly environment with great customer service and the have cool robots that serve the tables. It's like modern edgy vibes meets authentic dumpling. The quality of the food is top notch! Highly recommend

Yelp
***FOOD: definitely 10 YUMS, FREE DRINKS when we went. everything was juicy and delicious. Freshly made on site you can watch them in the window, making it MUST TRY SOUP DUMPLINGS & PAN FRIED ones too. PORK WONTON w/ CHILI SAUCE - very good with that kick of spice; SHENG JIAN BAO - Beef was very good, so tasty; SOUP DUMPLING - love it so juicy, taste so good; HAR GAW - good although the skin is a little sticky; PEKING DUCK BAO - nice big piece of Peking duck, didn't like the lettuce with it, hoisin sauce ***COST (OUT OF 4$) $$ very reasonable prices. $9-$10 for 6pcs of dumplings typically ***DÉCOR: could use more ambience, booths tables very bland and non descript. The Dixie plates add to that non descript minimal effort decor. But hey if it keeps prices down I'm ok with that. Lots of parking ***SERVICE: love the robot server. QR CODE menu ordering. Otherwise server was prompt with bringing drinks to table. FREE BOBA DRINKS at the time we went. Yeah FREE and it was delicious. ***RECOMMEND: HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Will definitely be one of go to place for dumplings. YUM

Yelp
I've been watching for when this place was going to open up and for good reason! Those steamed chicken dumplings are very good and healthy! Decent price for 8. I was in the area with my dogs so took a seat on the porch. They had some nice relaxing music playing and there were plenty of tables. The staff were super friendly and even gave them their own plate of dumplings! I was jealous. I tried to say no I'll take them myself but it was too late lol. They were gone. Lucky dogs. These are good for any meal. I actually had them for a late breakfast today. I'll be back ! The hot sauce IS hot FYI. I also saw a robot inside!l next time I'll sit inside and see what that's all about.

Yesenia B.

Yelp
We did not try the food her just the boba. It was disappointedly bland, had hardly any brown sugar, was watery and flavorless. The place was packed with people eating, parking was easy and the restaurant was clean. It is a bit loud inside but they have a nice patio area. Cool little robots bring your food to your table. I would go back to try their food but would skip the boba.
google avatar

Andrew T.

Yelp
The beef steamed dumplings were very good. The rice dishes were flavorful. Spiciness from the mapo tofu were more so numbing spicy, but decent. Had a nice firm in soft texture. The sauces could use a little bit more in flavor. Order the strawberry smoothie, that's a 9/10. Overall, they were very solid. There was a little robot that was driving around bringing food to tables, but sometimes it would get stuck if there was a chair in the way so that was funny. Staff was very nice helping figuring out the menu and preemptively giving information about it. Place is nicely decorated a little small in the seating area, but it's still nice.

Yelp
Incredible dumplings, fantastic spicy beef noodle soup! Great service - order on phone at table and robot thing brings good. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Decided to check out the place after hearing a dumpling place was opened near my area. Dumplings were tough at the top, water tasted weird (worse than tap water), and there wasn't service. Woton soup was the only thing I liked and that's about it. There's a QR code to order over the phone and the robot brought us the food and no one checked on us. There's lots of areas for improvement and maybe I'll come back but not any time soon.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Arrived at 1PM Sunday for a late lunch and it was quite busy. Our meal took longer than expected but it's understandable since it was only their 5th day open. They missed one of our dishes but it wasn't a problem since we were already full; they apologized and removed it from the receipt. Everyone was friendly and we plan to return to try other dishes (they noodles looked and smelled wonderful). We ordered a selection of dumplings and everything tasted great. The pork soup dumplings were good, the spring rolls wonderfully crispy, and I really appreciated that the BBQ pork buns weren't dry. As others have noted, you order from an online menu and get utensils and paper plates yourself. The robot delivered most of our dishes. This didn't subtract from the experience or ambiance overall.
google avatar

Meghan M.

Yelp
Dumplings galore! Went on a solo trip and ordered enough for 4 people. But that's ok, leftovers! Lots of options and yummy bubble tea to boot. Indoor and outdoor seating with attentive service. Will be returning to get my dumpling on again soon

Manuela M.

Yelp
The food is fresh, homemade and extremely delicious!!!!! This is my favorite place to eat dumplings!!!! Highly recommended!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the pork soup dumplings. The vegetable fried noodles were good but nothing special. I will come back for those soup dumplings, though. Delicious!

Bri W.

Yelp
Cute location, good food, and nice service! The food came out hot and quick and the food comes out on that cool robot server!

Yelp
This place replaced our favorite restaurant, Ume Sushi, and we're happy that they're filling big shoes in our eyes. We got the Pork Wonton w. Chili Sauce, Beef Dumplings, Pork Dumplings, Honey Garlic Wings and the Mango Green Teas. Came with proportionate sauces, good flavors and was most importantly: hot. Service seemed fast (we ordered to-go), and definitely had a good amount of people seated. Nice bright menu screens and clean environment, definitely will be back from Forsyth County!

Abby S.

Yelp
We ordered take out here last night and I was really impressed! We got the pork soup dumplings, the pork wonton noodle soup, edamame, the honey garlic wings, and the bbq chicken buns. The BBQ chicken buns were my absolute favorite thing we got!! Everything was so fresh from the dumplings to the noodles. I probably wouldn't order the wings again, just wasn't too impressed with the sauce, but everything else I super recommend. It was quick, relatively cheap, and the customer service was incredible

C. M.

Yelp
Honestly, the dumplings were "meh". The corn added to the chicken and shrimp dumplings was.. interesting? I'd really rather have no corn. The dumplings themselves, weren't super flavorful but maybe that's just the three that I tried: the shrimp siu mai, chicken and corn steamed dumplings and the har gaw shrimp dumplings. The sauce that you get to dip the dumplings into, was good and definitely added flavor. I was craving a scallion pancake bad and this scallion pancake did not satisfy that craving. Maybe it's just a different type/style of pancake but I'm used to the soft, buttery kind. This one was very crispy and as someone else described it, it tasted like a tough, wonton shell. I unfortunately, wouldn't get it again. The service seemed fine but I definitely can't judge that very well because I did a pick up order.

Araceli Y.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this place. We tried the pork soup dumpling, pork chive, shrimp siu mai, spicy beef noodle soup and scallion pancake. Ordering and getting our plates/water was easy. The food tho... Soup and pork chive dumpling were decent. Soup dumplings kind of inconsistent with amount of soup. Meat in the spicy soup was bad, taste and texture wise. We only had one siu mai... it has corn which throws the taste off. Pancake was horrendous, not like pictured at all- flat with tiny pieces of scallion and covered in oil. I'd give the place a 2 but give it an additional star for letting you try a free drink.

Yelp
As an American, I have been to China many times , and so happy to find an authentic Chinese dumpling, dim sum, and noodle house that represents the Chinese culture. If you were in the area and want to experience the true Chinese cuisine, make it a point to visit this place!

Bruce M.

Yelp
First time this place was great. The second time my take out order was very disappointing. I ordered the Shanghai Fried Chicken Noodles. The dish was nowhere near as described and pictured on the website. It had very little chicken and no cabbage or other vegetables. The noodles however were very good.

Pau P.

Yelp
7.5/10 The restaurant environment was good, only thing I was missing compared to other places was that you had to order cans of soda instead of refilling, besides that the service was with a robot, which is nice and fast. We got lots of things: (didn't take pictures of all of them) - Xia Long Bao / Soup Dumplings: they were good but not the best I have tried, they were missing some flavour - Sheng Jian Bao pork & beef: beef ones were my favorite thing in the restaurant by far, pork ones they were quite good as well - Edamame : just average, difficult to screw up that - Honey Garlic wings: they were VERY crunchy and tasteful, only bad things would be the size, because they were quite small - Chicken fried noodle: noodles were very very good, but the chicken tasted frozen and it was cute veryyyyyyy big, definitely get the veggie one - Pork Wonton with chilly sauce: they were one of the best things there For me Soup dumplings have to have good chilly/hot sauce and in there it was quite average and not spicy. The dumpling sauce was good. If you are coming from far away (30min +) I would definitely not drive that much for the restaurant but if you are close by it is a good option

Yelp
I really was hoping for better food. Everything was sub par. My dumplings were broken and the juice buns had little or no juice.

Anita L.

Yelp
Excited to have another dumpling restaurant in Atlanta, it did not disappoint. Massive flavors, we enjoyed every bite! Thank you for the free drinks, it was delicious!

Phoenix C.

Yelp
Glad to see this former sushi restaurant updated with a fresh new vibe and fresh dumplings. You can definitely taste the difference. Don't believe the dumplings are fresh? ...watch them being made via the chef's window. Nice touch. Thank you so much, Alex, for your recommendations and hospitality!

Gretchin J.

Yelp
Stopped in for a light lunch. We ordered pot stickers and dumplings and got more than we expected. The food was great and a good value. It's easy dining so no frills but perfect for lunch or dinner.

Miranda M.

Yelp
This place as so good! I loved their soup dumplings and pan fried pork buns. I also ordered their wonton soup and the scallion pancake with it was the perfect combination. Definitely going to be a regular spot. The service was also quick and friendly.

Steve W.

Yelp
Awesome dumplings and loved the fried noodles with edamame. The delivery bag is insulated so the food arrived hot. Great dinner!

Shay T.

Yelp
Food had a hair the soup dumplings. Food came out hot have to eat it when it hot once it's cold it does not taste good anymore. You order your food and a robot brings it out so technically you don't have a server. It was 1 table when we arrived and the place was empty not sure how to feel about that.

Yelp R.

Yelp
Ok. Weird setup. Paper plates, everything is self- serve from ordering to the robot server to payment. Food is good overall. No service from the staff so you will not have to tip them. Nice to have a dumpling place in Alpharetta. Overall ok

Lisa B.

Yelp
The food was horrible the Scallion pancakes were not pancakes they are Scallion wonton shells just horrible sorry I went there never again.
